  1. Hi! As a feature request, it would be so helpful to be able to break down colour groupings within a single Application Palette or Document Palette. For example, I'd like to group my primary colours on their own at the top, and then create secondary and tertiary groups/rows for tints and shades of the same colours, or secondary colours, etc. Being able to create an organized hierarchy within a palette rather than having a mass grouping of all saved swatches would be immensely helpful! Thanks.
  2. Hi I am trying to import the color palette into AD from ase file which isa standard for illustrator. Is there a way I can do this. Right now the AD doesn't recognize this file type. Thanks Pranav
  3. Hey there everyone, I'm generating color sets so I don't have to add colors in a new palette manually. However I just figured out that a Affinity color palette (.afpalette) is a binary file. Would there be a way to import/convert a palette from any kind of text file (xml, json, etc.) that can be generated ? In comparison Krita does save palette in a custom archive containing text files. Thanks in advance for your help.
  4. Hello, If you guys could add these contrast ratio feature in Affinity, it would be a really great tool. Here are some links that checks the contrast of background and foreground color. https://coolors.co/contrast-checker/112a46-acc8e5 https://colourcontrast.cc/ https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/ I also attached a video explaining the feature request. 5. Hi, The question is about black. Why when I click the circle with the probe in the color palette, the default is CMYK, and not just 100% Black? I think it would be better if the default black color was 100% black, than it would still improve. Am I doing something wrong?
  6. I was going to use an inserted photo (I took on my phone) of some tulips in order to make my own color palette. The colors in the original photo that I wanted to use in my Palette were red, yellow and green. I did something, I don't know what, that turned my entire original imported photo into an odd shade of Red???? The original imported photo is now changed to only One color, and it's an Unusual Shade of Red that wasn't even there before ???? The yellows and greens in the original photo are gone. If anyone knows what I did to create this, please let me know
  7. In Affinity Photo, when creating a i.e. 12 colors palette from an image, how is the color calculated? - is it how many pixels from that color in the image? - are than the 12 colors placed in the palette in decreasing order? The first being the one of the most pixels in the image? If not, how are colors picked statistically and how are they ordered in the palette sequence? Thank you for explaining this: I need to be able to compare palettes from one painting to another...
  8. Hey guys! I just made my first Affinity Designer Color palette. You can download it for free here: https://www.nantia.co/products/freebies/free-affinity-designer-color-palette/ Enjoy!
  9. Hi all, Is there a way to assign the colors of a custom swatch randomly to a group of vector objects?. Let me explain a little bit more in detail. I have created my custom color palette using Create Palette From Image and a serie of vector objects inside a group. Now, what I would like to do is randomly apply specifically those colors from that palette to the objects inside the group. I hope this makes sense. Cheers, Juan
  10. Hello, I've created a colour palette and plan to have a lot of layers having the fill colours from the palette. Is there any way to change all shapes with a given fill colour when changing that colour in the palette? I'm using both Designer and Photo by the way. Best Regards, Steve
  11. Hey guys, One thing that keeps bugging me when I open a project that I'm working on is that the first thing I have to do is switch to the respective Document Palette from the Default Palette. Wouldn't it make more sense for a document to remember this and just select the last Document Palette you used (in case you have more than one) when opening a .afdesign file? Or at least give us an option in the Palette menu to set that Document Palette as default for that specific document. This would be nice as well. What do you think? Thanks in advance, Cristian
  12. Analogous chord created with missing color as the base color is duplicated. Steps: Create new document: Type: web Units: Pixels Color Format: RGB/8 W: 1280 px Height: 800 px DPI: 96 Draw a Rectangle (I made it a square) and fill with base color; then duplicate object 2 times. Base color: R: 200 G: 35 B: 35 / H: 0 S: 70 L: 46 From Swatches tab: Create palette from document > as application palette Under Swatches tab: Delete the 2 created fills From Color tab: Create Color Chord > Analogous Result: Created palette swatch: R: 200 G: 35 B: 35 / Shows as H: 0 S: 70 L: 46 2 (duplicated Base color, should be new color 1) R: 200 G: 118 B: 35 / Shows as H: 0 S: 70 L: 46 (Base color) R: 200 G: 35 B: 35 / Shows as H: 0 S: 70 L: 46 (new color 2) Reference: I was following this tutorial on YouTube: "Affinity Designer - Colour Chords" *Notes: possible regression as the person in video creates Analogues palette correctly (I don't know what version they used) I was able to create all of other 9 palette types correctly from this same video instructions. My version: Attached: Two example files: Analogous.afdesign: Analogous2.afdesign:
  13. Is it possible to you add FOCOLTONE in color options? It's a good color palette because it has a small number of colors and it is more safe for conversions and multi devices.
  14. Hey guys! I really like Luke's recent work on gradients.io, so I created this AD palette based on his. gradients.io - Luke Davies.zip
  15. There is a photoshop plugin called Magic Picker ( http://anastasiy.com/magicpicker). One of its key features is Tone Locking. Basically, it let you change the tone without affecting the relative lighting, as showed in this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zAfu7xE-Jw ). Super useful in digital painting, photo editing, color palette creation and pretty much all kind of work that need a good color consistency.
  16. Usually a doc will automatically save a color palette together with saving the doc. AD, however, appears not to do this, although I have tried all three methods when saving my color palettes (application, document and system). Today I worked hard to streamline my color palette which had become quite complex. Then I foolishly went on working in the doc and forgot to save the palette, thus losing all of my work when I rebooted. I would think that AD would have some type of message reminding the user that the palette has been altered and not saved. Perhaps I am missing something here. (For sure I forgot to save the palette!) Could someone point me to more info on the color palette since it is more complex than Freehand or Illustrator (which is quite good, I'm sure), but with more options comes the need for a better explanation of how to exploit these options. Thanks!
  17. Hey guys, I'm trying to sample a color from the UI, the periwinkle blue from the flip horizontal icons, and the color shown by the pop-up color sampler loupe is different than what the color palette reports is the color I just sampled. Check out the screen grab.
