  1. Hi everyone, I'm having a bit of a weird issue with Affinity Photo V2. I'm on a 14" M1 Macbook Pro (OS Monteray 12.6.3). Also neither Designer and Publisher have this issue, only Photo. For some reason when I'm using Affinity Photo 2 with my 2018 Cintiq pro 16 the cursor/pen tip will lag, and the frame/refresh rate for the cursor will drop. If this occurs while drawing it also distorts my lines. The cursor will also start flickering if I try to use my stylus to switch to from my cintiq to my laptop monitor using the cintiq's display toggle function. When this happens I'll press the stylus button to trigger the display toggle, and for a second I'll see the cursor on my laptop, but it will then immediately shift back to my cintiq. So far the only way that I have found to remedy this is to briefly move the stylus away from the cintiq completely. Once I bring it back to the cintiq the issue is resolved. However this is almost always short lived and only fixes the issue for a minute or two tops. I've done my best to diagnose this issue on my own over the last month or so. I can't find much of a pattern. I did notice that if Photo is the only program I have open it is sometimes less frequent. Also if I am charging my computer while using Photo the issue is a bit worse, especially if I also have other programs open. But I have no idea what the issue is stemming from. I tried updating the tablet driver at one point but that didn't seem to help. I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks!
  2. Hey I have an issue in that when i use my Wacom tablet in affinity photo, often (but not always) this will completely disable my ability to click with my mouse. Once I've used my Wacom , I have to stick with it until I close and open the program again. The keyboard still works fine, but Photo just refuses to accept any sort of mouse input. this is really frustrating as navigating menus and using sliders with a Wacom pen isn't the best. I actually have a home machine and a work machine, one with an intuos, and one with a cintiq, and affinity photo does this on both. As far as i can tell via google , I'm the only one getting this issue. What am i doing wrong?
  3. Hi All, I recently purchased the whole suite of otherwise excellent Affinity applications for Windows and have been having major trouble getting any of them to function with stylus input on a Cintiq Pro. The usual support response has been turn off Windows ink. Well above are my findings. As you can see various combinations produce differing results with "windows ink" turned on in both Affinity Preferences and Wacom Tablet Properties. Line quality wise the only acceptable is with Windows Ink ON in both Wacom and Affinity preferences however the caveat is that anything requiring a single "tap" (such as with the Patch tool etc) doesn't function and you have to grab the mouse. Without Windows ink on in Wacom you get no pressure and with one or the other on you get "tap" functionality returned. This is the same across all 3 apps with Designer being the worst due to the amount of "tapping" required. All lines were created with Comics G Pen brush I am using the 1.8.3.461 builds. Hopefully this is something that can be rectified with the next update. Thanks, Rob
  4. I have recently invested in Affinity designer and chosen to use it as my main tool for producing graphics artwork. Unfortunately, the program seems to to have issues when used with an external touch screen. ALL MY SOFTWARE IS UP TO DATE my mac is updated, so is my Cintiq and needless to say, my copy of Affinity designer. I have followed instructions to stop updates from Apple that interferes with the touch screen connection as well. On starting up, everything works just fine and I can use the touch screen with the software. After about 5 minutes, there is an increasing delay on every order to the point where editing curves becomes a nightmare. Another 15 minutes of use, and the touch input stops working completely, the only input that still communicates with the software is the pen that comes with the tablet. As it is possible, if somewhat slower and more cumbersome, work can carry on without touch input. But as I stubbornly try to finish the artwork, more functions start to play up or stop to work completely. I have read on this forum that this exact problem existed 2017, and there was no resolution offered from Affinity designer then, maybe now three years later the program developers can take another look at this issue as it is vital to the drawing functions. Touch screens are the future for graphics, it is about time to sort this out. thank you.
  5. Hi! I'm thinking of getting a Cintiq 13HD and basically wonder what kind of computer I'd need? Like does it work with basically any moderate laptop or do i need something more powerfull?
  6. Hey guys, I just started playing with Affinity. I played around with drawing in it but I seem to be getting some jitter lines. Hopefully you can see it If compared to Krita I am using a Cintiq 13hd.
  7. Hi! Just started working with AD and really love it, but I've got a couple of things that don't work so smooth. First of all, I work with a Cintiq 22' touch. I would like to use the zoom slider on the back but it doesn't zoom. How can this be fixed? Undo in AD is different than in photoshop. I would like to change the shortcut to 'alt-command-z', but when I do this it only enters 'z'. How can this be fixed? Many thanks!
  8. Hello! So I bought Affinity Photo just the other day and I am really liking this program. However, since there have been reported issues of jagged lines when drawing, especially with tablets, I tried out the Beta for 1.6 to see if the issue was fixed. First things first, the new stabilizer feature is an improvement over the live version, which I have an example of with this first attempt at doing some lineart with the software (I used Lazy Nezumi Pro, but there are still artifacts of jagged lines in there when zooming in). As I said before, the jagged lines are improved upon in 1.6, but there is still one problem that really hampers my ability to create quick, smooth lines. The new version can handle straight lines pretty well, but when it comes to curved lines, there seems to be some form of input lag going on when I first begin the stroke (I am not using a regular brush, so the edges are rough on purpose). As can be clearly seen here, the brush strokes start off by not being able to recognize when I begin to sweep my pen in one direction, instead creating this edged curve that then practically disappears once a certain period of time has gone by (this also affects brush size based on pen pressure to an extent). However, the brush still creates a little bit of jagged lines in curves when it appears that it can't keep up with the speed that I draw in. While not as bad as in the live version, this makes me have to slow down my drawing/painting to the point where I have to wait every time for the program to properly respond to the input I am giving it through my Wacom Cintiq 13 inch HD tablet. If there is some solution to this, I will be able to drop Photoshop as my go to program fairly quickly.
  9. Hello again folks, Sorry for all the questions...... Having played about with Designer using the mouse only (so I can get used to it), this afternoon I've tried painting some fur on my creature using the Cintiq13HD. But to do this effectively I want to use the Paint Brush tool on a Pixel Layer and pressure sensitivity of the Cintiq's stylus. But for some reason I cannot get the pressure sensitivity to work..... Anyone know how to set this up effectively? Thanks in advance, George
