  1. I have arrowheads - same size (250%), but solid version is significantly larger! It is correct? Inside type (Place arrow within the line), is draw correct (see previous picture). But Center type (Place arrow at the end of the line) is correct only for solid version. Standard version (unsolid :-) is Outside type. Wouldn't it be better to allow all three placement types (Inside line, Center end, Outside line)? Selecting all lines (Move Tool) with different types of arrowheads (Inside and Center) will cause everyone to change to Inside type. Unexpected, and very unpleasant.
  2. Hello! The new Transform Mode of the Node Tool in AD 1.7 is a very welcome feature, thanks for that! Looks like there is the transform Center missing, though, like in the Move Tool. I'm aware that this center would be a temporary, meaning after deselecting the nodes, it will be lost. However, it should be there. Could you put this on the list, please? Thanks!!
  3. Hi ! Is there a way to display automatic guiding lines when moving a text/image/object to align it with other blocks ? Thanks
  4. Hello! Often there can be the situation that you want to move (more exact: translate) selected object(s) by some distance given by other existing objects/snappable targets on the artboard. I'd like to propose a very simple way to achieve this - by being able to use the Center as a handle. See attached image. Maybe holding CTRL while dragging the Center could invoke this 'locked' mode. Most 3d graphics apps have an Axis tripod (= the analogy to the Center here), and in some (Cinema 4D, Rhino, Softimage, ...) the axis can be used in the exact same way. It's called "temporary pivot", or "working pivot". Very useful! Example: imagine a ladder, with equidistant rungs. One rung is missing, and you want to copy the neighbour rung to fill the hole. How would you get the right snapping distance quickly? With this method, it'd be simple. The Center, by now, is used to 'assist' Rotate and Scale. It could easily be utilized to assist with Move, too. Hope it's clear. Thanks for considering!
  5. Hey! I've bought Affinity Designer about a day ago and haven't found out how to center a object (e. g. Text) inside another element (e.g. rectangle, square, ..). I know there's a way to center an object inside the whole page (using Layer -> Align -> Center) but I don't know if there's a way to use this tool to also center something inside another element. And is there a shortcut for the above called menu buttons? It's pretty unhandy to navigate through the menu everytime I want to center a text on the whole page. Greetings, Lars
  6. Would love to be able to adjust where to place the center of my vignette, using the Live Vignette filter. Often the area to emphasized is not in the center of the image.
  7. For example, I have this two objects in my document: the logo one and text one, for example. Here's the pic: I want to center logo relatively to text. First, I select logo. Then text. Then align center, and BAM!: The text one has moved too! Well, it's bad for me, now I need to move them both. Is there a way to lock position of object that I want center on? Thank you for any help and sorry for bad English! Feel free to fix me.
  8. Is there a way to edit options on text on a path. If I wanted to center the text on the given path, can I do that? If I wanted to flip the side of the start from left to right, can I? Are there any other options that may be useful for me to consider? Thanks!
  9. Hello there, I am looking for a very simple, but essential feature and since I haven't been able to find it on my own, I was hoping you might be able to help me. Basically, what I am trying to do is align the center of either the vertical or the horizontal edge of an asset with a guide I previously created. I know how to snap the edges to guides, but I haven't found a way to snap the mid-point to a guide. I've attached a screenshot to visualize what I mean. I really hope you can help me with this. Have a great day! Benjamin
  10. Hello friends :) Can anyone help me with centring text vertically in Affinity Photo? Can find horizontal no problem, but vertical alignment feels elusive. I've done some searches and found a few people asking for this back in 2015, but nothing conclusive about whether the feature exists or will ever exist. Why I want it in case you can help me find a better way :) I'm doing cover design for a book and want to align the text on the spine (currently rotated 90 degrees) so that it is centred. "Roughly right" with the Mark 1 eyeball is how I'm doing it at the moment, but I suspect the Mark 1 eyeball has a bit of an error rate. Thanks in advance. Affinity feels like the best software purchase I've made this year.
  11. Is there a way to use the elliptical and rectangular marquee tools and have them expand from the center of your initial click? I would think holding a modifier key would allow for this but I can't seem to find any combination that works. Thanks for any help!

    Center Bug

Arrange Button: After clicking the "center" button or a similar button I can see the changes properly. But after clicking OK, the changes will be ignored and everything goes back to the old state. If I do the same via the arrange menu then evrything works fine.
  13. While the grid mode is very powerful, I want to be able to center the grid in my canvas. So that I don't have to move the layers afterwards to center them.
  14. Using Windows Photo Beta and having copied an area to a new pixel layer. Placing the Rotation Centre cursor in the desired spot on the new pixel layer and double clicking will not hold the rotation center in desired position, immediately returning to center of selection. This error is repeatable nad has only held for me twice in many attempts.
  15. I know, this feature has been requested several times, but I have to bring this up again, since it is still not included in AD 1.5. Please let me center a text vertically in a text frame. This is so important to get a text perfectly in the center of an object, ect. The only way I can do it, is by either do it manually with my eyes, or convert to curves and then center it. Which is destructive. I love all those new constraint features in 1.5, but having a simple button which would center the text vertically would be so useful for any graphics designer, especially UX-designers. Please consider this soon, I don't want to wait until it is implemented to Affinity Publisher and then added to Designer eventually. This is a feature that I am waiting since AD 1.0. Every graphic or image editor has that feature. Thanks.
  16. Hi there. For the life of me I don't know how to draw a circle marque on a layer mask and then move and adjust it WITHOUT cutting the mask. Please help! In Photoshop I would create my own vignettes by making a black layer and then masking it with a feathered circle. And I can A) draw the marquee circle right in the center of the layer using modifiers (which I can't find with AP). and B) move the marque around freely without taking a chunk of the mask with it (which I can't find in AP). heeeellllp :) thanks! :D
  17. why do sometimes I cannot find guides or snapping features , visual aides to center and align text or objects??? the snapping window is full of options and presets what do you recommend using for creating docs with text or moving documents around in composites??? cheers
  18. How can you center a text like this? (see screenshot) (This is from Pages)
  19. Okay, I give up. Can you set an arbitrary rotation point? I've got 32 layers of an astrophotograph and to align them, I need to rotate them individually around a specific point.
  20. Hi Forum, is there any way to set the ruler zero point to the center of the document? Avé, Rick
  21. I'm a veteran Illustrator user who recently purchased AD. I am now comparing "Stroke" features between the two apps. Here are my questions: 1) Sketch a rectangle and give it an opaque color, then sketch a second rectangle above it and give your second rectangle X% Opacity. Now tick / Enable "Stroke" in the Effects. Slowly move the Radius to the right and you will then suddenly see your X% Opacity become complete Opaque. Why? 2) In Illustrator I can put a Stroke on a rectangle and then make that stroke to be Centered or Inside or Outside. But AD is very different. When I sketch a rectangle in AD and then when I add a "Line" to it, I am presented with a large number of options, but the ability to move that Line to the Outside or Inside is mysteriously absent. So I was thinking to myself, well, maybe the developers of AD want me to use the "Stroke" Effect instead. And truly, when I apply a Stroke, I have the 3 options available (Center, Inside, Outside). But the disadvantage to using Stroke is that the corners are always curved. Why is that? 3) Stroke does not seem to be a replacement for Line. Try this. Sketch a rectangle but set Fill and Line to NONE. Now tick/Enable Stroke and expand the Radius. Nothing appears on screen at all! But as soon as I give it a fill color, then the Stroke magically appears. It seems a bit strange. If Line would give me the option to have Center or Inside or Outside, this wouldn't matter as I could then use Line instead. 4) Illustrator empowers me to add multiple strokes to the same object, and when I set those strokes behind the fill, I can then do some pretty interesting things. I cannot seem to find a way to do this in AD. 5) It seems that AD only allows me to add a gradient to a Stroke but not to a Line. This is unfortunate because I cannot seem to create a Stroke WITHOUT rounded corners. 6) Illustrator CC has some powerful new Corner features for Strokes. For example, I can sketch a rectangle and then give it a 5pt stroke and then I can grab any one of the 4 round tabs and drag inward to give all 4 corners the same roundness. Furthermore, I can use Illustrator's Direct Selection tool to draw a selection rec around only on of the corners, which will enable me to round that one corner independently of the others. How can I accomplish the same in AD? 7) Dashed lines and Arrowheads are very common in my work but such features appear to be absent in the current version of AD? 8) In Illustrator, I can sketch a line or Stroke a box and then have "Width Profile" that I can choose in the Stroke panel. This can be very useful at times. For example, in Illustrator, if I sketch a line that is 26pt thickness and then give it Width Profile 4, the 26pt thickness decreases linearly to zero, giving it the shape of a spike. Can such be done in AD? 9) Another tool I always use in Illustrator when dealing with Strokes and Objects is the CUT tool. I can't seem to find it in AD. How do I sketch a rectangle and then cut pieces out of it? Sorry for all the questions, but Strokes and Corners and Cutting are the biggest part of what I do in Illustrator, and such is what I intend to do in AD as well. Thanks.
  22. How can this be done? I can center the text horizontally. Would also be great to be able to write text in an object like in Apples „Pages“.
