  1. Hello designers, In this video i start from scratch using a pencil and pen, then take a photo of it and import it into affinity designer so we can make a vector version. You will learn how to trace an image with the pen tool and then create a background from all of the outlines and much much more. https://youtu.be/EYsoWbceM4w
  2. Hi everyone! This marks the start of my sketchbook. EDIT; here is the optimized version with shadows, thanks for the tip!@MBWanderer
  3. This is my friend's cat Clarence. The art adorns my friend's coffee mug, T-shirt and probably several other things now too.
  4. Here is my latest comedy poem laid out in Affinity Publisher. It is a comedy observation about a cat that drools when excited or relaxed. This was written to reclaim the word "pussy" to mean "domestic cat". I hope you find it funny. The background image was created using stable diffusion ai and then using digital auto painter and affinity photo to complete the creation. The document was laid out in Affinity Publisher. Moderator, please could you move this to Share Your Work. Thanking you in advance.
  5. So this is an image manipulation using various effects to create my impression of a creature(?!) mentioned in Finnish national epic Kalevala. Her name is Kissa Kipinätär, which loosely translates into Cat Miss Sparkle (I don't know what she's called in the English version of the poem). So here it is!
  6. Designer- the cat shape has changed from sitting to walking and no longer appears in the shape options tool. Why is it not included - only available under customise? Thanks
  7. I shoot a photo of my dear cat Indy, and I obtained a painting of him with paint mixer brush tool and some hours of work. Hope the community will like the savage gaze of my wonderful cat. Original Photo attached too. Ok he just did an echography for a gastroenteritis, and in the original photo he lacks some fur, so I have dedicated some time to "rebuild" the fur with various brushes 🤣. But my loyal 15 years old feline companion is with us again in perfect shape, don't worry! Bye 😄😄😄
  8. Hey ho! My handsome cat shown in a new light - what do you think? Photo taken with my good old Nikon D90. Enjoy it 😃 Chris
  9. had some fun in creating this Tudor clothed cat, heavy usage of Affinity Photo.
  10. Hey! Here I will some photos of my cats (Marx and Engels - yes, they are red cats haha) which I take with my Nikon D90 and edit in Photo afterwards. Enjoy them and I do appreciate constructive feedback! Chris
  11. Good day, everyone! Just wanted to share my work made from Affinity Designer which is a combined ideas from the web and for the love of the calmness of felines. I wanted to print this in shirts since we are planning to have our own tshirt brand. Need your opinion to what file type is appropriate to keep its resolution. Would png be sufficient? Looking forward for your response to share your expertise. Thanks and God bless!
  12. Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have been on the forum a few times and looked around and decided to make the leap and join. A bit about me. I'm a mother of three children plus three cats. I've never used a vector program before but I have always loved looking at vector art. It fascinates me. I used to draw and paint a tiny bit when I was a young girl but haven't used that creative side for so many years. On my birthday 2019, I decided it was time I fulfilled that creative side of me and asked my children for Affinity Designer for my present. They were kind of like, what the hell, hahahaha. I had researched vector programs and Illustrator seemed to be the most popular. The ongoing cost was way out of what I can afford and I got sad at the thought I couldn't really do what I imagined. I researched further and came across Serifs products. They looked and sounded amazing. I read reviews which were great. I came on the forum and saw the passionate community. Yes, there were lots of issues brought up about designer but for the cost I thought I would give it a try. I am so happy I did. It has been a huge learning curve. I'm such a newbie at digital art. I'm watching videos and reading all the online tuts I can. I'm writing down all my experiments with the vector side of designer and would be happy to share them if there are any other newbies here. We can learn together.
  13. Hey! Was playing aroung with the newest beta and found the "cat tool" (also in the stable versions). It's only visible when customizing the tools and can be placed in the tool sidebar. Hmm. I do like cats :-) so thanks for that! Chris
  14. Hi everyone, here is my latest illustration made in Affinity Designer for iPad. Connect with me on Dribbble if you are Dribbbler: https://dribbble.com/shots/4859882-YOLO Thanks for your time!!
  15. A vector illustration -There are no 'Pixel Persona' layers in this one because I removed them. They didn't seem to add anything worthwhile to this image. There are a few textures though -the main one being a photograph of one of the sandstone paving slabs on my patio. Another thing about the working file is that after a few raster images were added, the file became quite sluggish to work with. I'm not sure if I'm approaching this the wrong way. Since it's vector, perhaps I didn't need to create the file at 300dpi? Some advice is needed for that. I started with a sketch in Pixel Persona -that really is a great function of AD. I find it very useful. Best wishes, Kevin
  16. An exercise in vector illustration using AP instead of AD. A spoof children's book cover illustration. In this case, I drew out the sketch on screen as well, using the brush tool. Usually I'd start with a pencil and paper.

  19. A work for my website, maybe you like it?
  20. I proudly present: Matty Potato, the tomcat from the reformatory for maladjusted cats (here's a photo shortly after his release). OK, he’s the opposite of aristocats, but… Matty does almost everything for little money, he’s also a dog collaborator (!). Most tomcats hate him, some cats are even in love with him. We know: He's fairly terrible, and he will not change. Can we help him, somehow or... anyway? :o ;) :)
  21. Work in progress. Started out as an avatar, but has become an exercise in using Shapes. Evil-cat.afdesign
