  1. Quisiera saber si en una próxima actualización de Affinity Photo, la máscara de Rango de luminosidad se podrá aplicar en archivos como JPG o PNG? Ya que me he fijado que solo se puede aplicar en ajustes.
  2. small problem.... if I do an adjustment via a preset 'luminosity blend options for adjustments' it doesn't show in the blend window of the layer, thou the layer is adjusted.
  3. I'm trying to extend the background pattern down and left over the remaining edges of the head. My thought was to take some of the pattern and stretch it, but cannot manage to do it since it's on a 45 degree angle, but the selection doesn't let me pull in the direction I want. Here's the part I want to stretch over the head below and to the left: As you can see, the handles are on the surrounding rectangle, but I want them to be on the corners of the marquis or selection so it will blend smoothly. I hope this makes sense. Thanks
  4. Hi! After 3 years I finally decided to open up Affinity Photo and start to practice (I mainly use Designer and Publisher). There are a couple of road bumps that I cant seem to find the answer too. I am familiar with the brush tool and the basics such as keeping the colours black and white when you are blending to remove or add. My issues come when I am trying to add artificial light or highlights using the brush tool. In the example below, I have a Mech in a forest with the city in the back. I was able to blend them in, but I am having troubles adding the highlights from the city onto the edges of the mech and trees. It allows me to paint with any colour but they seem to be very dark. I have no control over the vibrance of the highlight or the contrast. I only have control over colour and opacity. Could it because whatever i am paining on a mech that already has adjustment? I usually add highlights at the end in Photoshop! Q1: If I wanted to add a very thin or thick glow / highlight on the mech from the city, how would I do that? Q2: Recolouring seems to have this obvious separation where the blends happened. How to fix? (blue shows through red) Q3: When I am changing the exposure, shadows or light on the mech it selects the entire project even though I specifically click the single masked mech. I then have to copy the adjustment and paste to group only the mech. Is there a fast way of only selecting mech and not the forest? Hope someone has an answer! Also, great community and great software. I've been more than satisfied for the last 3 years and I rarely have to come on here to look for solutions. :)
  5. So, I am learning vectoring, coloring, etc with Affinity Designer and I am reading some tutorials on different projects I want to try. One such tutorial has steps to blend 2 colors together then extract the shades from the blend to create a palette. The steps for Illustrator are listed in the attachment and I am wondering if Design has the same ability?
  6. Passthrough Vs Normal. This tutorial shows the difference between passthrough and normal in grouped layers. This is an Affinity Photo beginners tutorial and number 22 of my Digitally Fearless Power tools of Affinity Photo playlist. 7. Hi Everyone, I am trying to restore old photos and have had some success with recolour. I currently have a family photo from around 1955 where the bottom corner is torn off and lost. I am copying and pasting sections of brickwork, peoples legs and foliage from around the background. There are huge differences in 'greyness' and I wondered if the greyscale graph from 1 section could be used in another. Any tips would be appreciated. Regards, Rob
  8. I think I've had this issue for a while now... Objects with Multiply and edge softening (like Gaussian blur) get this annoying "halo" when exported to PDF using any CoatedFOGRA icc. This used to work. But somewhere on the way with the updates this started to appear. If exported with Generic CMYK profile all blends in nicely (see attachment). But Fogra just spoils everything. If I change the blending mode to normal, all is well. But any other Blending mode just breaks it.
  9. Hey Guys, Is there a way to create masks in Photo Persona that behave like the ones in the Develop Persona. I mean I create a layer in Photo Persona that acts as a kind of mask. A number of filters are then applied to this mask. The resulting filter effects now apply to all the layers below. Like when I create a new gradient or brush layer in Develop Persona and apply contrast, exposure, etc. to it. So far I could not find a solution for this in any tutorial. Therefore the question arises, if this is possible at all? I would be very happy about help.
  10. Hi Blend mode video tutorial is interesting. However, for completeness please advise how to create various layers(e.g. shadow, reflection, refraction and etc) used in the tutorial. Thank you.
  11. I have a text layer with an outer shadow layer effect on it and is set for multiply. When I look at the pdf it looks fine. But when I print it the layer has a faint background lightening. It seems to only be for layers with effects on them. Thoughts?
  12. When using Affinity photo, as a digital painter, I rely heavily on the smudge tool for blending. Could the AP developers improve/enhance the smudge tool to match the blending functionality of the Paint mixer brush when the basic round light brush is selected? You might say , just use the Paint mixer brush , but there are other properties of the paint mixer brush that don't work for me. The paint mixer brush offers a level of complexity which I don't need in my workflow. Right now I just apply the paint and the smudge/blend it.. is so simple! Just need a more robust blender/smudge tool...like the Procreate app has... superb blenders! Thank you!
  13. Hello People ! i'm just installing and testing the recent Beta of APhoto and i can just say OKAY IT WORKS REALLY OKAY ! But ... because there is still a But ... i think Blending modes needs to be arranged or organized according to what they are intended to do. What i mean is simply represented in the attached capture. Well i know this is from another software but also it is not bad to copy (and making better of it) something that already exist. Hope this won't bring up a long discussion or a troll in here but also to every one who ever think this can/could be a nice thing please leave your inputs to help the devs understand it and maybe implement it. Blessings !
  14. Hello Everyone, Well i know this have been asked for long time by many but also wanted to add my request into the long long list How come Affinity Designer can't do this kind of simple stuff Inkscape can do using it's interpolate extension and Ai can do with it's tool ? i mean, i'm not asking affinity to be like Ai nor Inkscape but the mesh you will see attached here was created in less than 30sec on a very old laptop running Linux Fedora 29 beta with inkscape installed. Please guys not only this tool but make it happen with more tools straight from your Knight Bag, make me smile like you did with the new thing you have added to the pen tool of APublisher thus making it 10 times better than the Pen tool implemented into ADesigner ... Well this one still need to grow to where APub stand but ... get it done guys and ... make me smile. BTW it's free to use for anyone who feel it may be of interest both Personal & commercial, the SVG you can use to recolor with ADesigner or APhoto. Enjoy ! drawing.svg
  15. I often walk past this tree and always thought at the right time there was a photo there . Cloudy day worked well . The background was made from the top of the right hand side image What was going to be one of my quick edits but turned into a bit more ; again original files masked out with the Selection brush mostly >> top of tree was blurred several time while being rotated this way and that Copy/paste the tree images with layers onto the blurred background >some more masking >> lot of moving images around to get something that looks balanced Should have put it away for a day or so at least before sharing -- can be amazing what will be seen and notice with fresh eyes -- A mentor of mine; Peter Eastway said he and staff would often look at his main composition images for a month or two; or more before considering the photo to be as perfect as possible . That's why he is a master; or maybe it's grand master several times over of photography. If you fly QANTAS his photos are used in the magazines --- good job; being flown to all parts of the world to take photos and then getting paid a lot for them -- worth googling As always, honest comments (CC) and questions welcome Fz300 panasonic -- I'm currently rekindling my love affair with my little mate Pana
  16. Hello everyone I have a query for you I'm experimenting on a project in which i would need to add text on a blindfold and make it look as if it's painted on/on the blindfold . I found that "negation" blend mode gives the best results in terms of visible texture of the blindfold , however because of the blend mode and the light unnatural black spots appear . How would you guys suggest getting rid of the black spots (The issue is at the R letter where there is quite a lot of distortion of colors)
  17. I started this thinking it would be much easier to draw than the Maserati was. It wasn't. LOL
  18. When will real color blending is coming in ipad version . Because that mixer brush doesn't do it. It's just smudges the Colors not blending them like photoshop.please work on this feature
  19. In AP you can achieve a pencil sketch effect by taking your layer stack, 1) Desaturate with an adjustment layer. I use Channel mixer, and Grey output channel. 2) Layer/Merge Visible 3) Nest a new Invert adjustment within the new pixel layer 4) Also nest a new Live Gaussian Blur layer within the new pixel layer, radius around 1.6 5) Set the blend mode of the new pixel layer to Color Dodge See attachment for result. This also work if your layer stack already included various live adjustments. However this removes the ability to further edit the adjustments in the below layer stack because they have already been "rasterized" into the merged layer as well. More precisely their further modifications will not be reflected in the end result as if they have been done before the pencil sketch effect. Is there a way to achieve the same effect (blending math) and still be able to edit the preexisting adjustment layers and have them affect the result in the same way as if they have been modified before creating the pencil sketch effect?
  20. Affinity Photo includes an awesome "Blend Ranges" feature that I use to accomplish exposure blending with my photographs. It takes a little practice, but this tool is more flexible than Photoshop's "Blend If" sliders (because it supports customizable and non-linear luminosity feathering), and more efficient than Luminosity masks (smaller file size). I would love to see the efficiency of this feature further improved by the addition of presets within the blend ranges panel to create common blending curves, which would save me the trouble of frequently recreating similar curves over and over again. Presets such as "highlights only", "midtones only", "shadows only" or combinations of these would be a real time saver. It would also be great to see the histograms of the current layer, and composite histogram of the layers below, drawn behind the respective curve graphs in this panel. Without histograms it's hard to visualize how the luminosity information is distributed across the current layer and the layers below, and creating the blend curves becomes a bit more of a trial-and-error process to find the right spots in the X-axis to start or end your curve. Photoshop users have plugins like Raya Pro and Lumenzia that make exposure blending easier, although they suffer from poor UI and other issues. It would be great if Affinity Photo put some more effort into fleshing out the Blend Ranges feature for photographers who want to do manual exposure blending.
  21. This morning's random posting. The devil is making work for some very idle hands at the moment. Still – back to the paid work on Monday.
  22. Thinking back about the great paintings of Rothenburg o/d Tauber in the local museum, I got inspired and made my own "painting" of Rothenburg o/d Tauber with Affinity Photo for iPad. I have blended two photos, the one with the bush and the stars was shot with my Canon 80D and the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 a couple of weeks ago, not far from where I live. The one with the prison tower of Rothenburg (Der Strafturm) I had shot during an overcast day with my iPhone7, when I was visting this awesome medieval town in Germany last summer. Because the light was rather flat, I knew it was a good photo to do some blending with. This was a great opportunity for me to learn a lot of things about blending with Affinity Photo on my iPad Pro. Love this app! Best regards, Wetterhoun
  23. Hi there, I am new to Affinity Photo and I cannot find an answer or a video tutorial about blending images together. To be more precise, I want to blend two images (side-by-side) together, one image showing an empty room pre-renovation and one image showing the completed, renovated room. I do not want a straight, hard line in the middle but rather a soft, gradient transition between the two images. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom
  24. Is there any plan to add the aligning and blending of photo stacks in this? This is something I would need to use the program. Particularly nice if it included tools to adjust resolution, sensitivity, etc. tools that are missing from the aligning/blending features of PhotoShop.
  25. Hi, I'm just trying out Affinity because it looks very nice, but I do have some questions. I'm used to Photoshop so please excuse me trying to get same out of the programs :P ,, Love that you can combine RAW processing and power of retouching tools. * I have some problems getting good quality out of your RAW processor with my 5D Mark III, Nikon D750 and Fuji's. Anyone got "secret Affinity ninja tips" to pull most out of the details and noisereduction and the tools in general? The tools I find on RAW converter feels like a hammer to a glass sometimes. I only have a couple day more on trial and want to see how it performs. * When filling a layer with 50% gray and put it to overlay or soft light, it should not affect brightness/darken the photo, at least from my photoshop experiences. In Affinity the image become darker for every 50% layer in overlay/soft light mode, is there a way around this? * Lets say I want to replace "Blue" channel with "Green" and set top layer to luminosity, how do I do this in Affinity? I found no way to replace one channel with another one, I might be blind tho. I try "Load to Pixel Blue" but I see no changes on composite layer. * I really want curve to affect a selected composite channel in "Channels", lets say I want to adjust the blue channel, how do I do this without making a adjustment layer? In PS you could CMD+M (CTRL+M) on the layer or channel to bring up a curve that will affect only "Blue channel" without making a new layer. Thanks for reading my stupid questions =) Aleksander
