Well i'm really sorry for sending this so late but i wasn't sure i could share it here but i hope you will take 4min to watch as our 1st video demo there was done with Affinity Designer MacOs. Your comments will be of great help to me making the Chan better, there is still more to come and be published but let's first see how to make this one even better. https://goo.gl/wrJFn3 Blessings.
  2. Hello. I couldn't find a direct answer to this. Is there a way to sculpt a pencil line in the desktop version of Affinity designer. I love using this feature on the iPad and find the Pencil tool basically useless to me without it. Thanks,
  3. Hello Everyone (i like it when Olivio Sarikas pronounce it on his video tuto) ! 4. Hey everyone, I am working on converting our Adobe compatible products from RetroSupply Co. into Affinity compatible products. I am just now understanding that the vector brushes do not work in the same way that vector brushes do in Illustrator. I see that the native vector Affinity brushes are just raster images that follow a vector path. What I need help deciding is if our Adobe Illustrator brushes will be usable (and desired) in Affinity or if we should scrap the vector looking brushes and just make them with raster images. I could really use the help of some of you who illustrate with Affinity every day! Your input would be really valuable. I've attached a beta version of InkWash- our vector water color brushes. You will see some of them are named "InkWash Vector #" and others are named "InkWash Raster #". Which do you prefer the look of? Vector or Raster? You will see that the "vector" titled ones have a more traditional vector look (as they are coming from Adobe Illustrator). I am trying to decide just converting what we have is sufficient or if we should remake the textures as raster before making them into Affinity vector brushes. I really appreciate any input! Thank you! -Suzanne InkWash Beta by RetroSupply.afbrushes
  5. Why can I not paint in Affinity Photo? It is as if the program does not register that I am putting a black paint stroke on a layer...or any other color stroke for that matter.
  6. Hello Does anyone know how to easily recreate frequency/sound waves in Affinity Designer like in the image I've attached? I really need to learn how to do this but I can't figure out an easy with in Designer. Thanks in advance, Matt
  7. I’ve lost nearly a day of work trying to fix this issue, and am not ready to give up on it yet. I would really appreciate the help of some of the Affinity Gurus with this issue, as it is driving me crazy. I’m using the latest version of Affinity Designer on Mac. I’m working on a vector illustration of a shark. and I’ve attached a sample of the project I’m working on below, along with some screenshots. If you look at the gills, on one layer (gills erase), I’ve used an erase to punch through to the green. Then, I’ve duplicated that layer on top, change the erase to normal and used it as a container for a vector texture. Unfortunately, I cannot get rid of a hairline thin stroke around the border of the shape. Only it isn’t a stroke, as the stroke is deactivated. More of a border that maintains it’s size as you zoom in and out. I though this could just be affinity showing me the outline of the shape, but this unwanted out carries through to the export. You can see exactly the same effect between the layers ‘lower side’ and ‘upper side’. This line is the same size no matter how much you zoom in or out, and again, it carries over to the export. I’ve researched extensively on the forums, and found no fix so far. Some similar suggestions hinted at an issue with anti-aliasing, but I’m not sure that it the issue. Any help on this would be really appreciated. Affinity_Error.afdesign

    Problem with Wacom Tablet

Hi! I report a problem with the Wacom Intuos Pro M tablet in Affinity Photo 1.6.4.104. Sometimes when I use a brush, the line does not show up, although I can use the "Undo" option. It only helps to restart the application. Yesterday I had to restart 3 times, today two*. Horribly annoying. I have up-to-date tablet drivers (6.3.30-6) #1 Edit *three times
  9. Hi guys I'm an amateur photographer from Italy. I'm 21 years old and I'm beggining my journey with Affinity Photo. I would like to have some impartial Advice about this photo I shot few days ago. I post produced this raising the contrast and using my brush to give a little bit of clarity. I raised the shadows and I used the brush to be more precise raising them only in particular parts of the image. At the end I used a Green Fill Layer (with 4% opacity and soft light fusion mode ) to highlight and "give more importance" to the green part of the image. I shot this photo with a Nikon D3100 with a 55mm Micro-Nikkor f/2.8. f 2.8 / ISO 400/ 1/200 Bee's head was a little bit out of focus (I Even raised the Details, Radius 5% and Amount 100%)
  10. Hey all, in addition to my shooting series, I also felt I should make available some of the macros I've recorded as far back as the Photo 1.5 betas and refined over time. I'll start with some workflow aids that may prove useful: Workflow Aids Download (ZIP archive) This set of macros for Affinity Photo provides a number of small workflow enhancements and shortcuts, including: Setting up frequency separation retouching (with two high pass layers) with non-destructive vibrance and tone controls. Masked local contrast filter layers for selective application. Creating a set of curves adjustments for each available blend mode. Setting up a non-destructive 50% grey dodge/burn layer. Edge mask creation using a laplacian kernel (optionally with gaussian blurring). Channel separation to individual pixel layers. See the included Readme PDF for installation instructions and a detailed rundown of each macro. Tonal Effects Download (ZIP archive) This set of macros for Affinity Photo provides a series of tonal effects and enhancements including: Technicolor 3-strip and 2-strip emulations. LAB 50:50 channel mixing. Saturation/Desaturation curves. Warm and Cool Haze effects. Dissolve blend mode emulations (using noise & diffuse). Subtle Diffuse Glow using blend ranges. Infrared channel swapping. Hope you find them useful - look out for more macros soon!
  11. I am loving Affinity Publisher, but I am hoping you can add an Affinity Word App to challenge Microsoft Word. Affinity Publisher feels great for the design aspect of ebooks, but what about just simply writing an ebook? I would love an Affinity Word Processor. Just like Adobe Microsoft has become Subscription based, it annoys me having to pay money every month to use Word. I would like a one time payment of Affinity Word, an app where I can just simply write, import and export as pdf or word document etc I could write with Affinity Word, then place the finished document into Affinity Publisher where I can add pictures and art, design etc Think about it Affinity, I know it is more work for you guys, but because you already have Affinity Publisher it shouldn't be too hard to turn this into Affinity Word. Rather like we have a Microsoft Publisher and a Microsoft Word. Also would love to see an Affinity Font app in future, an innovative font creation and font viewing tool and Affinity Video, an innovative video editing tool.

    Pressure Sensitivity Accuracy.

Hey guys. Newbie here! So in a nutshell, I'm an illustrator who primarily draws in Photoshop using a graphics tablet. I've recently purchased both Affinity Designer & Photo in hopes to totally ditch the Adobe subscription thing. Working in the way that I do, once downloaded I immediately selected the Affinity brush tool (not the vector brush) in both apps to see how it performs, but for some reason my pressure sensitivity is not accurate as it should be. I'm experiencing this in both applications, but not in Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, or Sketchbook Pro. What's shown in the attached images is all strokes that were made quickly using a stable pressure. As you can see the strokes in Photoshop are all very uniform and natural looking, but for some reason in Affinity apps my stroke pressure does not register accurately which makes it incredibly difficult to draw 'neatly'. Sometimes when I press very hard the strokes are incredibly thin, but then suddenly bulk up which causes the strokes to look blobby - the scribbles I made were done with the same amount of pressure throughout but for some reason they seem to start very thin, even with a decent amount of pressure, and then suddenly thicken without me even pressing harder. I'm working on an iMac. I've look up a bunch of tutorials to make sure that I'm using the brushes properly, but they don't seem to play well. Is it just me, or is this a known issue? In the last attached image some of the strokes didn't even register at all like the cross bar of the "F" in "of".
  13. I don't have time to search entire forums or the interwebs to see if someone else has ever suggested this feedback before. So I offer my apologies if my suggestions have already been covered. 1) Please can you provide a feedback function WITHIN the application it self. It's incredibly frustrating to have to use out dated methods of signing up to god-awful web-forums which just leads to nonconstructive replies of un-thought out opinions and arguments. It also allows you to correctly link feedback (and abuse) to the software license of the user and even categorise the feedback so you can easily see which areas are causing most concern to the user base. 2) Please can you fix the mouse icon when painting in masks in the develop mode. The standard OS mouse icon does not feel accurate to paint with. Also a nice to improve if possible: Painting often feels sluggish to see the red tint forming. If there is a way to make this feel more responsive without upgrading an existing 32GB RAM I7 processor machine, that would be lovely please. 3) Cropping in Develop mode is missing an "ok" or "finished" button. It's frustrating to be sitting back with my tablet, controlling everything then having reach over to the keyboard which I moved to one side, just to hit <enter>. I don't want to map the enter key to my tablet device as it's never used for anything else! if you simply put a button in the UI it will mean I can just move the mouse there and click! perhaps I've missed a trick that does what I want, but then that would mean it's not obvious and intuitive to the user. 4) Please update the flash function for uploading files on this forum. Who runs flash in 2017? Browsers auto block flash from running by default because it's nasty. 5) More of a question then a suggestion, but is there a way to rename the overlays in the Overlays tab in Develop mode? I have 3 gradient overlays, all with the same name! that's very confusing to simple minds like myself. 6) Although I generally hope you spend more time fine tuning what you have already developed, instead of just rushing out new features, it would be nice if there was an in-application function for browsing image files, with a nice big preview of the image and EXIF data, which you can then double click to open it in the develop mode. I don't think anyone wants all this "importing" and cataloguing rubbish which is very slow. But browsing files within Affinity with a UI that suits photographers that windows/macOS don't offer, would be a great win. Thanks for your time.
  14. Affinity Online Help Hello all, we're happy to be able to offer you an online version of the in-app help! Access Photo & Designer Help here: https://affinity.help Here are some of the additional features we're able to implement as a result of having proper browser support: Dynamic language switching: The help will determine your language and (if it's available) serve you a localised copy of the help. If you prefer to read in another language, however, you'll find a combo box at the bottom left which will enable you to change languages - and stay on the page you're currently reading. Print: Sounds simple, but with full browser support we can now implement printing of the topic pages. The print icon in the bottom left will give you a nicely formatted printout of the current topic. Share: Clicking the clipboard icon will copy the current topic's URL to your clipboard, which means you can easily point other people towards topics that may help them. Responsive: The help was responsive anyway, including off-canvas menu functionality so you could collapse the window and still read a topic, but this is taken further in this version of the help. The help is formatted nicely and usable even on a 4" iPhone SE screen. With this online version you'll be able to print out topics and view them on your tablets/phones, which are two of the most common requests when it comes to help feedback. This is currently no search functionality - we are aware it would be useful and are considering possible solutions. As always, if you have any feedback or find any issues with this online version, please let us know! Hope you find it useful.

  16. I just received my hardback copy of the Affinity Designer Workbook. It looks great. At the start of each chapter is the "Resource" box with a filename in it. Where are these files to be found!? The book says, I see green box with the filename in it... but no link info. I tried tapping on it with my finger, but nothing happened. :)
  17. I would like the ability to control opacity from within the pencil tool— like an rgba set up. I would also like to be able to set the tool as a multiply (or other) type to quickly layer shapes and colors. As of writing I’m not sure if this is possible without going into the layer menu to adjust opacity and layer types.
  18. I would love to see the feature that Lightroom has where you can select a color from your photo with the colour picker, and change the colour with the slider. See example video where the skin colour is edited this way in Lightroom. This would be so useful!
  19. Please add the main functions from Excel! For example: Sum, Min, Max, Count, Average.
  20. Will Afinity Publisher be able to open Page Plus files?

  22. Installed AD week ago, everything worked as a charm until today. Started crashing when trying to combine several simple shapes with boolean tools. Reinstalled. Reset settings. Cleared default. Nothing worked. Starting to feel a dissapointment and regret... AD is latest possible version - 1.6.5.123. Not tryout but bought.
  23. Wouldn't be awesome if serif creates a competitor for Adobe Animate (Flash) for us? Having no scripting language would be alright as long as it can draw and animate well.
  24. I would love it if you would create a Video Editing Software like premier (but better obviously) As a college student I have two choices pay the expensive price of £16 a month for Adobe's okay software or get it offline illegally and unsafe. I have already Purchased Affinity Photo, am about to Purchase Affinity Designer but would absolutely love it if there was a affinity video editor for my media. I know this might not be your kinda thing but it would be so great and I know so many people would rather use this than adobe. You're ahead of them, keep it up.
