  1. I would like Affinity to add the option to be able to scale the glyphs into the Justification palette. This option can be pretty useful when someone is using some justified texts, flush on both side, because it will help to get better white spaces between the words in some difficult situation, as an example with narrow colomns of text. I am sharing with you here some specs I was using with success into some publications, see the joined picture where I placed (in blue) within Affinity Publisher's Justification palette the option I would like to be added. You can see a sample too of a document I created with these specs many years ago. In this sample page the width of the column if not too narrow, but more problems may occurs with the white spaces between the words where someone is using narrow columns where the text is justified, this latter is where the option of scaling the glyphs may come really handy.
  2. I just thought I share here my personal experience of using Affinity Publisher. I spent about 30 days writing and editing a paper with the purpose of publishing it as PDF. While I did use Microsoft Word and Grammarly a few times, to get recommendations on how to improve my text, 95% of all work happened within Affinity Publisher or Affinity Designer. Just about every day in this period I spent multiple hours, first getting to know Affinity Publisher through experimentation, and then creating the content within it. In all these days I had a single crash, while I'll admit that designer did crash several times right after a "Save as" operation. In these 40 days, I learned enough about Publisher to create a 44 page, fully illustrated business paper and publish it without major issues. I've attached some images exported by Affinity Publisher. I found the ability to export the publication as a set of PNG images quite useful in providing a quick view of the document for the user to check out, before downloading the PDF. As it should be obvious from my comments I am not a professional designer. I had not worked with any such tool since the days of Page Maker, about two decades ago. Still, I consider the results I got, working with a pre-release beta version to be quite good.
  3. Hi, I have just installed a new version of affinity publisher but I cannot open png or jpeg files anu more, the program simply does not see them... I hope it was not the plan, was it? Sincerely, TK
  4. Hey, I would like to know if is there any option on Affinity Publisher to change the name of the PDF on tab. For example, when we open the exported PDF in Google Chrome it has a name on Tab ("paper_taxis"), but if we open on Adobe Acrobat it shows the pdf name on tab ("Paper_BusTickets_PT_compressed"). We need to have a way to change that name. Is there any option to do that ? Waiting for your feedback. Best regards, Nádia Nair
  5. After using Designer for a few months now, I've gotten comfortable and efficient with the interface, much more so than with Illustrator. Occasionally, I'll find a small bump and realize that affinity likely has a solution, and sure enough, I either find a tool I had not been aware of online or by myself, following the increasingly familiar Affinity design logic. One tool I keep thinking exists but doesn't though, is color swapping between objects. I love how color swapping looks and works between fill and stroke, which is especially smooth and cool on iPad. As an extension to that, I find the impulse to select 2 objects and swap their fill colors, or their stroke colors. I believe this would come in quite handy and feel very intuitive. As an extension, perhaps cycling might be good as well, basically selecting various objects and cycling their color through each one. When designing, this would greatly help with and incentivize exploration and experimentation. Cheers!
  6. Just downloaded the Publisher Beta, but can't install. It says "Setup cannot proceed - supported windows version not found". This is strange because I am using Windows 10 Pro (64bit), has 4GB RAM, and has ample empty space in C drive. I also have Direct X version 12. So just wondering what could possibly go wrong? Does anyone has any idea? I have multiple designer files that I worked on before in another machine, but now can't use those in my current machine. Very frustrating! Please help.
  7. I am admittedly a newbie here and this is a newbie question. I have noticed that sometimes, I get a menu when I right click and sometimes I don't: Under what circumstances, when I right-click, should I expect to get a menu in Affinity applications?
  8. Hello, I've noticed another problem in Affinity Publisher – or two: 1. If I set links, the links are not always available in a pdf file created from the afpub-file. 2. If I crate a list with bullets and give the first word(s) another color (e.g. it is a link), the bullet gets the same color. I did not find a way to change the color of the bullet independently of the text. Is this a bug or is there a way to manage it? Thanks again!
  9. Hello, I start using Publisher Beta, but when I try to handle the "text wrapping" it doesn't really work. If I change the distance from the text on the left, the text on the right moves. If I do it on the right it seems as also the text on the right moves. Is this issue known? Thanks!
  10. Since 1.7.0.221 I have problems with charset (description below). My keyboard layout is Swiss French.
  11. Sorry if I'm not seeing it but when I open APub Beta 1.70.227 it tells me to update via the forum thread, which i can't seem to find. Could be user error lol.. Please assist :)
  12. Coffee

    Business Card

I did this card in Affinity Publisher but I included the template in Designer as well. Download link is on my behance page along with some specifications: HERE Enjoy!
  13. Hi, I have to convert my pictures to a cmyk profile for professional printing. I have received a specific (custom?) ".csf" file to process my files in Photoshop (please, see scs) from my professional "printing house". I would have liked to do this step in APhoto but I do not know how to setup a custom cmyk profile. Is it possible ? I see the same problem in APublisher and moreover, I do not find a way to export in pdf with the option to not assign again a profile to pictures. Anyway, since APub is still in beta phase, I am working with (and learning) QXP2018 but I would like to know how to proceed in APub. Thank you for any advice Patrick
  14. Hello, I have read, Affinity is going to make Affinity Publishet at the end of 2016 in Beta for an lunch in the beginning 2017... I have bought Affinity Photo and Designer, but not used for the moment, I still with the Adobe CC, I need a similar indesign similar program... So my question is when Affinity Publisher is going to launch ?
  15. I would like to know if it's necessary to convert RGB color images to CMYK in Affinity Publisher before exporting to PDF file... I would like to send PDF files to a digital print shop... Do I need to convert all images used in the publication to CMYK or does Affinity Publisher do the conversion automatically ? or is it done by the RIP application...
  16. Hello, I've read this on your website: Will Affinity Publisher open PagePlus X9 *.ppp files? Thanks in advance Best regards from Germany Andreas
  17. I noticed that when you want to create a new document into Affinity Publisher that there is no option to create a bloc zone. This option is important to me, because when I am doing a three-folds folder or more, I want to place my folder's marks inside the bloc zone. As an example, I use to put a bleed of 3.125 mm, plus a bloc zone of 12,7 mm over it. As an example, I saw some design where the folder marks were not perpendicular to get irregular and angled folds, in such a case, it is important to be able to have a bloc zone where to place these folders marks. That said, if Affinity Publisher will eventually integrate an option for the bloc zone, then we should have to an option to include too this bloc zone within the dialogue boxes at the PDF creation time.
  18. I just downloaded Affinity Publisher BETA; it was previously unknown to me. So, it's my first day with it. I'm not yet as savvy as some of you, but I did use Serif's previous publisher software (PagePlus X8), so I image my transition should be somewhat easy. Serif does makes intuitive products. First thing I did was I opened a pdf book proof to see if it would have editability in AP. Some of the illustrations opened in full RGB color, but some opened as "negatives." I closed the file, then reopened it - same thing. I closed AP, then reopened it - same thing. Bug, or me?
  19. Being my First time on the forum, first off let me say I have been so excited since you first launched publisher have been loving every minute with it. Just my contribution to the beta build, when you open or import a PDF into publisher, I noticed it comes in with a YELLOW HAZE instead of white background as per the original PDF. reason why I bring this up is because Designer and Photo do not have this issue. Your software has become my design staple in my business, thank you,
  20. I want the cells in the table to be divided vertically or diagonally without changing their field. Each cell should be divided into 2 or 3 vs vertically or horizontally. This is of great importance for busy table work.
  21. I keep hoping for a publishing solution that caters for collaborative editing of content by multiple authors on the fly... if Publisher has something like this built in then I will be a happy man, but if not then the ability to import from a google docs file and synchronise updates with it would be a brilliant work around. There is a solution out there for InDesign but it is completely outrageously priced for a plugin. Also I realise that InCopy exists but that requires all of the people you are working with to have a copy of it... which is never possible. Collaborative editing in Affinity Publisher would be a game changer!
  22. Hi, In APub, I've created a document for printing (cmyk, Fogra, etc., see scs). 1. I've selected a few colours for my document (global or not) and I would like to be sure that they are fine for printing in cmyk. How can I check ? (I did not use Adobe apps for a while now but I seem to remember that they (Illustrator and/or InD) are alerting when the colour could not not be printed as such and even proposed a close "cmyk-compatible" colour) 2. I am exporting photos from APhoto in cmyk; I suppose that I simply have to insert these in APub... ? Thanks for your help/advice. Cheers, Patrick
  23. Hi Affinity Team. Thank you for this program. Looking forward to using it. Do you for see an iPad version of publisher coming out. As Photo and designer are amazing apps on the iPad. keep up the epic work.
  24. I sure hope there is a better way to set tab stops in Affinity Publisher than guessing the measurements? I cant get them to set that way either. I know this is beta but in that case use this as a need for future builds. Thanks
  25. Hi, I want to suggest a feature I think will be great for all of us Affinity users. You see I've been an Astropad user for a while and also use Screens app as well and then I was thinking why no developer has come up with an idea of mirroring an app or remote control an app from a device to a desktop one. I mean having an iPad version and a Desktop Version that basically are not compromised and are in their full potential with just Wifi or Bluetooth or even usb connected whatever you do in your iPad is happening realtime in your desktop app. I'm not talking about watching your desktop app in your iPad as Astropad does (that even working is kind of annoying needing another interface to use your app) I'm talking like controlling your desktop app with your iPad app. 100% accuracy and no extra interface to master a way to get to your goal. Connecting your apps together will revolutionize the industry and I know you are capable of that kind of innovation. Just think about it.
