  1. I was wondering if publisher will be able not only to open indd (InDesign Documents) but also to save as them like Affinity Photo can save as a psd (Photoshop Document)? Thanks!
  2. I am considering switching from Adobe. I run my own graphic design business and currently use Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator daily. Would the Affinity products be sufficient and would I be able to open / import PSD, INDD and AI files into this software?
  3. Well people, I have done it. I've cancelled my Adobe CC subscription. Here's the proof. Anyone else packed it in with them? (It's a bit off topic, but I can't find a general/misc category for posting my own news.)
  4. Hi, My Affinity-edited photos as seen on others' devices & a calibrated projector have come out EXTREMELY over exposed. They look fine on my monitor. I have calibrated the monitor. Someone noticed the 'profile' dropdown in the Develop persona is set my default to Adobe RGB. I was told that this should always be sRGB. I can't find a way to update the default to one of the sRGB settings permanently. I have been doing my RAW conversion in Cannon's DPP as 1) RAW files don't have thumbnails & look terrible (under exposed & under saturated) in Affinity as my camera (Canon 77D) is not yet recognised by Affinity & 2) DPP has an easy way to 'fix' under & over exposed parts of the image that Affinity can't do as well as being able to view the RAW images. I then do further processing in Affinity. It appears that I will need to go into the Develop persona & change the 'profile' value before developing & exporting the image every time. Is this a common problem? Is the fix correct? Does this relate at all to my camera not being recognised? (also is there an ETA / release when this camera will be included?) I can't provide a screen dump of the images as seen by others as they look fine on my monitor but very embarrassing showing images at my camera club . Any enlightenment would be appreciated . Thanks Julie
  5. Hi, I have installed Adobe Campaign v6.1 on local machine. Created a Campaign and delivery but not receiving mail. While check in Monitoring on Client Console in Process list 1. How resolve these error
  6. Background: I've been using InDesign since version 1.0 jumping away from PageMaker and Quark 3.0. My studio uses InDesign six days a week and builds publications from one page to 50 regularly. I'm going to document my test of Affinity Publisher, and I would be interested in how it is going for other studios. Is anyone planning on making the switch before the beta ends? My reasons for looking at alternatives are price and cloud integration. Adobe increased the CC subscription price. Stinky, but what bothers me more is the constant need to integrate the cloud. Every day I wait for the InDesign font-sync to load. Grab a coffee and cookie. Before that was active hyperlink checking. It's a constant problem. My Adobe subscription renews in three weeks. Perfect time for a serious workflow test. Day 1: Download and test 14 page document test. Quickly learned that layers aren't right, but found out that layers will be adjusted in future versions. Day 2: Single page flier test Typesetting a quick color form. No layers. I enjoyed the experience. Good Tabs Alignment Paragraph styles Clip to canvas (love it; some of us like to use preview in InDesign. Some like regular view. This is a happy medium). Bad No padding in a text frame (I didn't see it) I didn't see a way to make a non-breaking space
  7. One thing that keeps popping into my mind is this: There are tons of title plugins for FCPX/Premiere, but they are only usable within said application(s). For things like Youtube cover pic graphics, social media graphics etc it would be "strange" to create those within FCPX or Premiere with its "timeline" layout. For that one should use Designer, which is document-centric. Long story short: it would be absolutely "KILLER" if Designer was able to utilise those plugins in a static document environment. Over to you, guys, and for all those sympathizing with me, please leave a comment or a "bump". Thank you! Helmar
  8. Hi there I love this app (Designer) so much I hardly use Illustrator anymore. AD is so intuitive and powerful. Thank you for that. My number one feature request is the ability to use Adobe's shortcuts. AD is here very uncommon while other apps - up to MS Word! - use the same basic keyboards, such as SHIFT+ ENTER for a new textline without making a new paragraph (this shortcut works even in CMS-Texteditors such as TinyMCE or Redactor or CKEditor). Could we talk of an "industry standard", here? Yes, I think so, this goes far beyond Adobe.) There is also a confusion about when using SHIFT to proportionally scale something and when not. ALT (Option) has been the standard for scaling from the center ever since. ... So my pledge: Please either change them to the well known standards, not only used by Adobe make keyboard shortcut prefs that can be changed thoughout and saved integrate a preference for that in which one can choose "Adobe" as possible Shortcut set. Thank you very much - this would be insanely great. Alex
  9. I would love it if Affinity Designer for iPad and Desktop would have a built-in emulation of traditional media such as watercolor which flows and mixes in real time similar to the real thing. Currently there are a few apps/programs that can do this such as an Adobe project called Gemini which will have a paint/watercolor emulator for both iPad and desktop. A basic watercolor emulator in Adobe Sketch, and a very detailed one in Rebel 3 by escape motions. A demo video of Rebel's watercolor in action. A video of watercolor brushes being used in adobe sketch. Adobes project Gemini iPad App in action. Project Gemini's Watercolor Emulation in Action.
  10. I’m trying to find a workflow that allows me to go from Designer to Illustrator. Yes, yes, I know, but I still have to place work into the other on occasion. I would like to keep the results of the fx panel editable, but I realize that they might need to be rasterized if I want them to exist after the file transfer. Is there a preferred filetype/setup/practice for keeping the appearance of Designer files in Illustrator without absolutely everything winding up as path-masked raster images?
  11. There is a jubilee on Design Cuts. They sell a logo creation kit: Essential Branding & Identity Kit for Photoshop and Illustrator which says: there are also png files, that should work, I think. Maybe it is also a general question regarding Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Illustrator CS4 Thanks for help.
  12. Greetings, I love the tools offered at Retro Supply (brushes) but unfortunately, most are tooled as Adobe Illustrator only. So I have a few questions for the collective brain. Do you know of a way to convert AI brushes to work in Affinity Designer Do you know of a source that has retro etch / engraving brushes such as the one attached Thank you ~ Jack
  13. I recently purchased these two applications because I'm looking into university courses to do with graphic design etc. I'd like to pursue a career in this field. Sadly I'm rather new to all this. I've looked at the tutorials that Affinity give you for these two applications via their website and via their apps, both the written and video format. However I don't find them to be that helpful and because of that I was curious if there is anywhere online that can provide me with more in-depth tutorials? If there isn't, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop are the most popular applications that are similar to Affinity Designer & Photo but are they similar enough to where I could watch tutorials for Illustrator & Photoshop then use what I learnt from that and put it into practice in Affinity Designer & Photo? Also, I know Affinity provide coffee table style books for these applications (no PDF versions available) but they would cost around £80 for the set and right now I can't see the justification for it, at least for me, unless the books really are the best option for tutorials. Keep in mind though that I'm using a 12'7 iPad Pro, not a desktop. Yes I have the Apple Pencil, don't worry. If anyone can provide me with links, advice or just point me in the right direction it would be extremely helpful.
  14. Hey guys, I'd like to know if there are any plans to develop an Affinity software which would compete with Adobe's Lightroom from a side of batch photo editing. I'd love to go "full affinity" in the future, but as I'm getting more into photography I find it extremely hard to edit like 200+ photos in Affinity Photo. Affinity, please, consider an addition to your already amazing collection of software. <3
  15. I am of course very excited to get Affinity Designer into my workflow. But, there is the issue of round-tripping with Adobe. I know that Designer can output in many different formats. But can it output a file that is openable in Adobe illustrator? Is there that degree of backward compatibility if it is necessary?
  16. When I import swatches using the “Import Palette…” item, I should be able to select palettes saved from Photoshop (ACO – Adobe Photoshop Color Swatch File) or Illustrator (ASE – Adobe Swatch Exchange File). Are there foreign palette formats that AD can import? Maybe that information should be in the Open dialog box… or somewhere. (The Help Center doesn’t seem to do anything. I can search for a topic like “palette,” but can’t expand the results, so maybe the AD entries are just stubs?)
  17. Orginize Artbords Change all image to multiple images based on orders when you select multiple image and drag them to a repeating item, it automatic replace it with the images in order, so you don't need to change every one your self Create arrow between Artbords Connect your artboards with drag-and-drop to help communicate the flow.
  18. When opening Adobe Illustrator files that contain grouped objects, those object are not grouped when opening in AD as they are in Illustrator. There are groups, but they seem to be random. Is this normal behavior of AD? If so, will there be a fix in the future?
  19. Recently I have come across some discussions about PDF from Affinity Designer incompatibility with Adobe CC 2018. Here is a link for the post on Adobe Forum: https://forums.adobe.com/message/10182519#10182519 I have stopped using Adobe except sometime converting files files for our clients with my old Adobe CS6 and Illustrator CS6 opens pdf from Affinity Designer perfectly. I am wondering if anyone else is also facing such incompatibility issue? It's really sad if Adobe has done it internationally
  20. Love affinity, however, can anyone suggest a workaround when your work is all in fireworks files containing pages and shared layers? I own affinity photo and designer, but both lose the pages and opens my pngs as one flat file. Maybe another interim bit of software that can do it until affinity is able? In a real pickle as my newest imac can not open my older adobe fireworks software. Not Im left to subscribe to adobe to open them and save all the pages out as layered PSDs. Not only is this tedious but if I have to subscribe to adobe it kinda renders affinity moot and I really want to keep up with affinity. I LOVE AFFINITY! help, please? I dont have publisher...maybe it can open pngs that contain shared layers and pages?
  21. Hello everyone, I am a new user of affinity designer, i have 2 questions about patterns: 1. Is there a way to create a pattern as a fill color other than to create a separated file or a symbol and repeat it manually? 2. How to open/import ai files which include a path filled with a pattern. (When i open a ai file includes pattern fill, it seems it converts pattern to bitmap and pixelated which i dont want and i can't manipulate the pattern.) Thank you all.
  22. Can I import Adobe Illustrator files, documents that contain photos and type? Am considering totally switching from Adobe. If I can import is it editable. If I can't import is there a workaround so I don't have to totally recreate?
  23. Excepting iPhone photo editing, I am new to both Affinity Photo and digital post-processing, so on a steep learning curve. The Affinity Photo videos, help, and workbook are all great. I have joined a local club and am taking classes too. With Adobe’s large market share, discussions regularly end up talking about feature X or tool Y in one of the Adobe products. So one of the challenges I still face is figuring out the Adobe software features and nomenclature and then translating the to the corresponding Affinity counterpart. Many software companies have challenged the dominant player by creating a help/guide mapping the dominant software usage to corresponding features in their products. Thanks for considering this.
  24. Hello, I am a big fan of Photo and Designer, and I am super stoked for Publisher. The only thing that is really keeping me from dropping Adobe all together is Premier Pro. I was just wondering if this is type of app is something you have plans for in the future? Again, love what you do and would love to make my shop a full Affinity Suite someday. Thanks
  25. So I am a bit disappointed so I am going to hope really hard that I am just missing something, a work around is available, or this is being addressed by development so to the point: WHY IS THE WINDOWS APP STORE VERSION A LESS FUNCTIONAL VERSION? I paid the exact same price for Affinity Photo via the Windows App Store but I don't get plugins? I don't get simple "Edit In" function from Lightroom? I don't get access to the betas? WTF? I looked at some other threads in the Questions section and found a few people asking the same question but only one that seemed to have any response from Serif. TLDR version of that post is basically "Why would we put the things you can't do on the marketing page of our application?" Thats a bit of a BS response. You don't have to list all the things it can't do but you could make a simple mention that the Windows App version may not have all the same functionality as the version directly from Serif due to limitations on how Windows App Store apps are handled. So again I paid the same price in the Windows Store as I would have directly through Serif but I don't get full functionality. So if anyone has any information on how to circumvent this issue I would be really appreciative. If not there is always the refund route and I'll make sure to move along from Serif. Not because their application is bad but because when asked about these types of things their moderators give pretty shifty responses and it just seems like a bad business model to charge certain groups of people the same amount for a version of a product that is technically inferior without being transparent about it.
