    SLOWWW Zoom

Zooming with the Brush tool selected — in a tiny 726 KB file — is super slow on the latest beta. If I switch to the arrow tool everything is normal. I'm using a Magic Mouse and the option key in conjunction with the scroll gesture to zoom.
  2. Hello Everyone, Well, i maybe missing something but i can't Zoom in and Out on ADesigner since the last beta install. Tried to reset stuffs in there but nothing does... Well it is something i use a lot on projects ... like i said maybe i'm missing something here on how to get it working again. Please instruct me and if it is a Bug of the new beta, please advice for a workaround. Blessings !
  3. The three finger tap to control redo conflicts with ipad's zoom feature. How do you reset either the zoom feature controls in ipad settings or change it in affinity??? Right now when I 3 finger tap the zoom loupe overlays the screen and it is in the way.
  4. In Adobe you hold Cmd Space to temporarily access the zoom function. This is a tool I use all the time, it is so useful not to have to come out of a text box, hit Z, zoom, and then go back to the text. Zoom to selection helps a bit but isn't the same. Any chance of a key combo for "temporary" access to the zoom?
  5. Windows 10, Build 178. When I switch personas - doesn't seem to matter between which ones - the document zooms in a little. See attached GIF.
  6. By default, all images are set to fit to the viewport when they are opened. For images that are smaller than the viewport, this leads to a zoom percentage greater than 100%. Personally, I usually prefer images not to be enlarged as it gives a wrong impression about the pixel-level quality. It prevents checking if the file is sharp, while not giving any real benefit since enlarging them does not provide any additional information, unlike in the case of larger-than-screen images. So fitting larger files by default is fine, but I find myself routinely pressing Cmd+1 every time I open a low-res file in Photo.

Zoom issues when using external monitor

Find a demonstration in the video attached. When I drag the Affinity Designer window from my laptop's monitor to an external monitor and then zoom or resize the window, the displayed elements and wireframes desynchronize. The visual display is not where it is supposed to be. I remember having this on Windows as well. affinity-bug.mp4

    Designer (and Photo) zoom bug

I have some kind of zoom/redraw bug in both Affinity Designer 1.6.5.123 and Affinity Photo 1.6.5.123. In Designer, I can create a new document A4, 300ppi. Draw a rectangle shape filled with black, and stretch it in all directions so that it snaps to the document bounds. Now if I zoom in and out with the scroll wheel, at various zoom levels the rectangle appears as if it does not quite meet the document bounds on random edges. For example the top and left sides appear to have a 1 pixel gap and are white or show the transparancy grid beneath. If I change the zoom level the edges with the 'gap' will sometimes be on the bottom or right and back to top and left. I have tried toggleing snap and pixel alignment on/off but it makes no difference. Also when I dragged the edges of the rectangle to snap to the document bounds, the green//red lines appeared, indicating that it was snapping to the document edges. A very similar problem exists in Affinity Photo - this time with a new blank canvas, choose File > Place. Select a relatively high resolution photo and drop it in the middle of the canvas. Now drag the edges and snap them to the document bounds. When I zoom in and out the "1 pixel" white/transparant edge randomly appears on various edges of the canvas at various zoom levels. Even at 100%. It makes it difficult to know if there is actually a 'gap' or not. In the screenshot below (Designer) you should be able to see the white 1 pixel 'gap' i am talking about. In the one below that (Photo) you can see the transparancy grid along the top edge. If I zoom in the gap is not there, but might be on the left edge instead. I have tried turning off the graphics card as the default renderer in Preferences > Performance. The only other option is WARP but it has the same problem.

    Move selection

Hi, I use every day this app on my iPad Pro and I love it but I have a problem: impossible to move little object with no zoom. The app auto select the anchor point the object and resize or distort object and I can’t move. Is it possible to disable the anchor point or reduce the auto-selection? in this video I can move only with zoom thanks 2CCF06F1-8F08-4AD7-AD4F-3564F3285E8D.MP4
  10. I'm wondering if using zoom keyboard shortcuts could zoom to selection. For example, I hit Command-0 to zoom out and see what my page looks like and then hit Command-2 or 3, etc. to zoom in, but what I had selected at the time is not in the center of the page, so it is out of view and I have scroll around to try to find it. Maybe there is another way to do this without the extra step of typing 'z', which won't work if I am in text editing mode.

    Ctrl+Space Zoom buggy.

Zoom shortcut is supposed to be Ctrl+Space. In reality, this only works if you first press Space, than Ctrl. The reversed shortcut Space+Ctrl seems unique to Affinity :) And surely, this is not how modifier keys are expected to work. Affinity Designer for Mac has a filed bug about this. Half a year later, is there any progress in sight?
  12. After the first zoom, the content is duplicated and changes position. The "ghost" objects starts to appear at the screen and the real ones disappears but it's still there. Affinity Designer v. 1.6.1 macOS High Sierra v. 10.13.6 Resolved I've installed an old version of Java for macOS 2107 and now I can't reproduce the bug. zoombug.mov
  13. Hi there, I've found an irritating display error (at least I think it is one): In Affinity Designer (1.6.5.123) I've created a new document with three artboards and placed four images (*.afphoto) in it. Then I selected two of the images on the first artboard, copied (ctrl-c) and pasted (ctrl-v) them on the second artboard. Afterwards I selected one of the copied images and clicked "replace document" in the context menu. The recplacement did work, but the display did honour the replacement only at certain zoom levels. If I zoomed in to 100%, everythings looked fine and I could see the new image. The moment I zoomed out, I got the previous image displayed again. I could even repeat that: zoom in - new image, zoom out - previous image, zoom in - new image, zoom out - previous image. To be fair: Once I'd saved the document, closed and reopened it, everything went as supposed. Best, Volker
  14. In a document with multiple pages, shift-command-drag should zoom in on the marqueed area but instead zooms in on the pasteboard somewhere above page 1. Single page documents zoom in as expected. Using the Zoom Tool works as expected. [macos Sierra 10.12.6]
  15. I wished there was a way to increase the Zoom Factor for interactive Zooming of documents. As a long time Photoshop user I am heavily used to a far higher default Zoom multiplier in their Scrubby Zoom. In order to zoom in from 100 to 200% on a 800x800 px document one in PS only needs to move the mouse or the pen a few millimeters sideways – faster dragging even increases the enlargement speed. What might sound crazy indeed works extremely well (it’s Photoshop’s default scrubby zoom behaviour). And zooming and panning also looks nice, because motion doesn’t stop harshly: There’s a dash in of inertia (easing out) added as seemingly also the case in your Ipad apps. In Affinity apps for the same 800x800px document my hand needs to travel at least 3 times the distance, for every larger document (any RAW) one even needs to travel the input device a few times in a row (set the hand back to the starting point) and motion stops harshly as soon as one lets go. You certainly do not like reading this – but this all feels sluggish to me. Can Zoom and Pan get a speed boost and some polish please?
  16. I've run into this problem a couple times now using Affiinity Designer 1.6.1 where it renders a duplicate set of artboards on zoom in and out. They appear briefly while zooming in and out, then disappear. It seems to be fine after I restart the app. I got into this state as I shut off my Mac without closing Affinity Designer. Then after restarting my Mac, Affinity Designer reopened and I got into this strange state. This also happens sometimes while I am just using the app. I'm running macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 on a Macbook Pro (Retina, Retina 13-inch, Early 2015). 16GB Ram, 2.7 GHz Intel core i5 (Benq SW2700pt external display, via HDMI). Locked-in Zoom in AP

Hello, not sure if this is really a bug or a feature but I try to find more about the zoom behaviour in AP. I am using AP most of the time with my Wacom Intuos Pro and control AP with the use of shortcuts on the keyboard. So right hand holds the pen while the left hand chooses the tools via keyboard. So with "Z" I start the Zoom Function for zooming in and with "Alt" for zooming out. Nothing special until now. But when I try to switch to another tool like panning (H) or smudging (K) it seems that the Zoom function is still locked in and does not want to let me out. Instead of this I am typing a lot of Hs and Ks within the zoom's percentage field. Needless to say that this field was not active before, because I was clicking all the time on the canvas. Another weird behavious is when I try to use the canvas' scrollbars or choose another layer in the layer panel but AP interprets this as a control action for the zoom function and instead of scrolling or layer switching I zoom in and out like crazy. The only method I discovered to stop this weird behaviour is by switching between the applications and returning to AP using ALT+Tab or to pick my mouse and click directly on the tool's panel. To sum this up: those weird behaviour does not always happen but quite often. It is not a big problem but it interrupts my workflow (picking up the mouse, switch windows etc.). So I wonder if this sticky zoom-function is a bug (or a feature) or can I easily switch this stickyness off by a secret checkbox within the programms settings? Any adivce is appreciated.
  18. Hi guys, thank you for reading this. I would ask you to consider a very smart and intuitive way to navigate the canvas. Illustrator (and also Photoshop with some minor difference) uses the modifier keys Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Space in combination to activate or deactivate certain tools. This solution is very useful and super fast because you do not need to move your fingers over the keyboards and you do not need to hit a key twice to activate/deactivate a tool, but with just 4 keys you can access to all the navigation tools, like pan, zoom, select, and so on. You probably already know what I'm referring about, but I'll add a list of the most common combos (please note that being a combo means also to hold them together while using the tool): Ctrl = Object Selection (or, if Object Selection is active, it triggers Element Selection) Ctrl + Space = Zoom In Ctrl + Space + Alt = Zoom Out Alt = Drag Copy (also after clicking for drag, atm it works just before) If you have to deal with conflicts among other shortcuts, like combos already used for other functions, please contact me and I'll be happy to deal with it. Finding the same interface as the most popular software would have many advantages: - reduce frustration and improve experience using the software - reduce adoption time - triggers interoperability between software (so you can use the same habits while switching from one sw to another...yes, someone still does) - uses a model already spread and tested, based on years of experience I totally understand that this is another software and it's normal to not expect to find the same stuff of the competitors, but this is not the kind of thing that makes AD positively different from its competitors (imho of course); making the transition from one software to another as smooth as possible for as many users as possible I think is more valuable. I and a bunch of other folks would really love to find these combos in the next updates. Thank you for your attention. p.s. dear reader of this topic, please, add here other combos that you would like to have in the future.

    Disappearing Curve Bug

AD. Nothing fancy here. A tiny path with a stroke, it appears/disappears when zooming. Zoom.mp4
  20. Hello there, I found a really strange bug. I am working on an item in Detail. But as soon as I zoom out, to get the whole picture, the canvases enlarges itself. Normally it should be the size of the main image (I set the properties of the canvas so they match the resolution of the image). It's not that I can't work anymore, but it's quite disturbing. Does someone have an idea why this happens (I tried rastering every pixel-image but that didn't help)? You can see the problem in the two screenshots I uploaded (First one zoomed out, the last one zoomed in) thanks for any help, Manju
  21. Can you guys include this feature in Photo/Designer on the Windows version? I use floating windows for things like Views when working at different zooms, on screens with differing resolutions, etc... it is really essential to my workflow. They take up an unexpected amount of space often because they do not adjust to the size of the document when zooming further out, and so I have to adjust manually which can't be done easily to precision... so an option like in photoshop to automatically adjust the window size on zoom would be very nice...
  22. I have been fiddling with how to zoom and pan with my Wacom tablet. Managed to get the zoom to work by rotating the touch ring. For panning, at one point on one file, I can pan using 3 finger swipe gesture. The other time I created the new artboard, deleted the old one, the panning with gesture just stopped working. If I swipe 3 fingers, it select the object instead. Then I tried holding spacebar method, the tool just got stuck in "pan" forever. The only way to get out of the pan mode is to click the hand tool once, then click the other tool I want to use. Is this a bug?
  23. Having watched the quick Vimeo tutorial I have to wonder how an image can be truly representative of the size, since although the software can determine your actual working system resolution, how can it know your screen ppi? Have I missed or misconstrued the point or is this a real matter?
  24. Could we get some options to adjust zoom behaviour? Option to always (initially and/or consistently) display documents at the nearest rational zoom level (e.g. 1:3, 1:2, 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, ...) Option to always initially display documents at 1:1 (with option for "Small images only" and "All images") Option to always use nearest-neighbour scaling for rational zoom levels greater than 1 I would also prefer it if the zoom level could be made to never change unless the user requests it.
  25. During trial, I was able to scroll the touch ring on my Wacom Intuos Pro for zooming ( couldn't do pinching as I always do in Illustrator). Today just purchased Affinity Designer, I can't zoom with anything. Rotating the touch ring only scroll up and down. Any fix?
