  1. Serif allow customers to test new builds of the software even before it is released to the public. These "beta" builds offer an opportunity to trial bug fixes, add support for new file formats and show off new features before they are launched. This post is designed to be an aid to knowing if you are trying the latest beta version of the Affinity software on your platform. Those pinned posts have download links to the beta software. Windows Customer Betas require you to be an owner of the paid for version of the software to work. You either need to have the software installed on the same computer as the customer beta OR if you bought direct from the affinity.store website you can provide the product key to activate the beta. If you would like to try the Windows Customer Beta build look for the top (pinned) post in each of these forums: Affinity Designer beta for Windows Affinity Photo beta for Windows Affinity Publisher beta for Windows Windows build numbers and Mac builds are technically independent. The third number increases each time a public release is made, the last number is generated by a build server and so not directly related to each other. We will update/edit this post as new Windows Beta releases are added by the developers, so the version numbers should always be right. We will also post to the bottom of the thread so the forum sends a notification to anyone who wants one This thread is locked and will only be posted to by Serif Staff when the beta release versions are updated. I still feel AP's "Window" menu needs expanding with other functions (cascade, side by side, etc.) so I don't use it very often and maybe this issue is not related only to the latest beta version...? Anyway, I had two windows/documents opened and I minimized them. I expected to see them on the bottom of the main AP window (is that right?) but they both disappeared. They were still listed in Window menu but clicking on them did not do anything. I even created a new document and it was invisible too. To display the documents again I had to use Dock or Alt-Tab from AP and back.
  3. Hello, I am using Affinity Photo App version 1.7.3.481 on Windows 10 Pro Intel i9 CPU 32GB RAM. While running Affinity Photo in batch mode for JPG processing (to apply custom macro filter) the tool is crashing right after hitting OK button in "New Batch Job" Dialog box. I have tried unchecking Parallel processing option but to no avail. Please find the marco file attached for replicating issue. JPG photo resolution is 1702x2560 pixel.   4. Hi there, I bought Affinity on the app sore on my mac and have recently got a new desk top windows PC. I was looking to get affinity on this machine too as i know you can have it on a number of machines if its just you using it. When i go to sign into my account, it dose not recognise the email address that is associated with my apple ID. Is there a way for me to get this on both PC and Mac without having to purchase two licences Thanks!

  6. Hello, I have imported a CR2 file (EOS 80D) into Affinity Photo (Windows) Unfortunately the color representation does not fit and differs from the jpg. But in the normal display in Windows both pictures look identical. What can I do? Thanks Schrimm

Fixed Minimum Blur live filter constantly resetting Radius slider to zero when changing other values. Fixed failure to import .ABR brushes. Fixed PSD import crash (with embedded ICC profiles with non-ASCII names). Fixed Transform panel behaviour when transforming a sheared object with aspect lock. Fixed import of layered TIFF sporadically failing to load text layers. Fixed crash when install location contains a non-ASCII character. Fixed crash at startup (due to initialising crash reporter).   8. Nothing spectacular here, just clickbait. I would just like to know if we perhaps get assistance in understanding the xml partially controlling how the applications start up. A while ago someone asked if it is possible to start a new document with transparent background as default. Of course this is possible if you create a new document and set the background to transparent. The application saves this information to Document.xml and next time the application is restarted the transparent background is checked again ... until ... a document was created with no transparent background. Once transparent background is saved you can lock Document.xml for writing. Another use case could be the export preset (Export.xml). Same here. Once you made a different export, the type will be saved.   12. Hi, Recently, I got a macbook air that I have transferred all my old files, and apps to from a PC previously. I want to take affinity designer with me, but currently it is not working. Is it possible for me to transfer the software from my PC to the macbook air? If not, will I have to buy a brand a new version (which I am completely willing to do). Any help is appreciated.   13. Hi, Following MEB's advice I've been creating my own assets for a project, but the suggestion of dragging elements from the canvas/artboard to the Assets panel doesn't seem to work on Windows. When I drag the element to the assets panel it is placed on the document and does not appear over the Assets panel as would be expected from a drag action. "Add from selection" from the category pop-up menu works as expected. Thanks
  14. Hi, i'm seeing an issue in Photo Windows v1.7.3.481 where the execution of brush strokes stops working correctly. The behavior is that suddenly only the beginning and end of a brush stroke registers, causing a straight line between the points. I'm still trying to figure out a reliable reproduction path. System: Windows 10 1803 Enterprise Intel i7 5820K 128GB DDR4 RAM GForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB with 3x 1920x1080 displays Wacom Intuos Pro (Small) Logitech MX Master mouse Microsoft Natural Ergonomics 4000 Keyboard
  15. First of all: Love the new features, especially the isometric grid, cant wait to use them seriously! Usually i work on my laptop and have an open browser to google stuff. I noticed that the panning/zooming drops in performance significantly when i switch back to my Affinity Designer Window (artboard). After restarting Designer it works ok for a while, but it always comes down to opening a browser window, switching back to Designer, zoom in/out - no animation or it does not zoom properly. If i want to pan - then i would need to use the navigation bar even though Space + drag is so convenient when using a tablet. In the past it was a non-issue, so i really don't know if it's my hardware. I used to do Vector/Pixel-based Artwork and Designer handled everything fluently. I panned and zoomed like crazy Now i struggle with simple Logo-Designs Could it be that Designer has become a bit resource-hungry since the update? Or is it me? Can i do something about it? My laptops' specs: i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz 16GB RAM Intel HD Graphics 530 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (i switch them up sometimes) Wacom drivers are up to date (intuos pro)
  16. When you have Enable Dial Support selected in Preferences > Tools you will be able to use the Surface Dial to adjust brush properties such as Width, Hardness, Opacity, etc.. It also supports Canvas Rotation, Radial Blur, and History.

  18. AP crashes after changing colourformat from rgb to cymk/8 and colourprofile sRGB to ISO coated v2 (ECI) some 2-5 seconds after changing and confirm changes with ok before being able to save.   19. It's difficult to know where to add a negative comment. I work at a learning centre, a non profit, for seniors getting confidence with technology. I think a few would be interested in Affinity Publisher and I would like them to try it our. Our classroom has 6 desktops. Serif have a good offer for educational establishments but only for 10 or more copies. That requirement is causing my much angst. And I would have members interested if we could produce ePubs, but no, that is not likely to happen apparently. So back we go to PagePlus which we have been using since version X4.   20. A number of apps allow me to set the font size of the text in the UI (for example menu and other section headings) Is this possible with Affinity? If not how do I request the feature?
  21. Hi, I am a scientist and Affinity Designer is my de-facto first choice for making illustrations for papers, posters, etc. Because it's great, and it's affordable. But making a scientific poster is a hassle. A true hassle. Because I do need to use equations. How does one import an equation into a Designer? I found several options, none really works for posters -- keep reading: 1) create a small LaTeX document; (a) compile into PDF; have hours of "fun" with fonts and import options. (b) alternatively, compile into a PostScript, open a file browser, rename PS into EPS, drag-and-drop, if you're lucky, sometimes I managed to make it work. Caveat: if you have many equations, they need to be in individual EPS files, otherwise Designer will not like one EPS file constantly getting changed. (Bonus: open your poster from a year ago with 20 EPS figures in it. Click 20 times on a popup window saying the source has changed because you re-ran the computer simulation which created them. After clicking on one popup, wait for a smooth animation as 19 other popups slide around your screen. Repeat 19 times. Then, you can access your poster. Probably.) 2) use online converters. The one I know that reliably works is www.codecogs.com . But it does not allow for fonts bigger than 20 pts, and fonts in posters are at least 24 pts. So when I really need to insert an equation I do this: (a) type it in codecogs, (b) download SVG file (copypasting from the browser results in a little black rectangle instead of the equation). So download the file, open the file browser, drag and drop. Not into the poster, that would be too easy. Because then, I'll need to manually resize the image to match my font size. I have devised some templates to insert the file into and either resize to match the size of a sample character, or type in numbers in Designer's "transform" tool, for which I need a calculator at hand (would be nice to download in 12pt and resize in Designer by 200%, but alas - so I use a calculator). None of this is a good working solution if you need like 20 equations. Is there a working solution? I have heard of LaTeXit, but that won't work in Windows. MS Office has some weird equation editor, but that won't copypaste to Designer. Every single time I make a poster, I often spend hours searching for other options online and it gets inexplicably frustrating. Every. Single. Time! When I need a lot of equations, I make a LaTeX save them all as a PS, then convert to EPS (they still have to fit on one page), then open it in a separate Designer window, then convert to curves, then "Group" curves corresponding to all symbols in a single equation, then resize in bulk, then copypaste. Aaarrrggghhh. Has anyone have found any working solution? As I said, the solutions above work if you have one equation, but are a true hassle if you need to put in a dozen. (Unless there is an alternative to codecogs that lets you set large font size and hopefully works as a copypaste?) It would be really great for more than just posters, as I often use Designer for illustrations, in which sometimes I need to use equations, too -- that would make me never want to quit the Designer ever.   22. I have run tests with the Flaming Pear plugins: Super Blade Pro, Flood, Glitterato, Lunar Cell and Solar Cell. Although they do not work correctly right out of the box, all but one of these Flaming Pear Plugins can be run successfully in the Windows version of Affinity Photo 1.5.0.45 with a workaround. 1. When run within Affinity Photo, the preview window for Flaming Pear plugins splits the image into irregular segments, making it useless for assessment of the way the rendering will look when sent back to AF. However, the preview can be made to render properly if the active layer in AF is selected with the Retangular Marquee Tool before calling the plugin. This works for Flood, Glitterato, Lunar Cell and Solar Cell because they are designed as global applications for a layer. However, Super Blade Pro is usually applied to a local selection; thus you're stuck with a hit-and-miss approach to finding your desired plugin setting for that app. 2. Each Flaming Pear plugin comes with a library of presets (in a subfolder for the preset) which can be randomized in the plugin control panel. You may have to manually point the plugin to the subfolder when this is first run.
  23. When developing a RAW file (I have tried DNG and RW2 with same results), the images look completely different after clicking the Develop button in the Develop Persona. The image looks completely washed out. See the before and after attached. Using Windows 10, Affinity Photo version 1.7.3.481. Problem started recently, I have not changed any settings, same video card, display, color profile, etc.
  24. Hello, this is my first post to a forum so bear with me please. I found this bug on windows 64-Bit-Version, it was already a problem in the test version, but I thought it might go away in the professional one - it didn't. I downloaded this program recently, so it should be the latest version. If I want to change the lines selected in the table tool, it sometimes doesn't change. It keeps going back to select all the lines. Even if I restart my computer it doesn't change. Maybe after a few hours or a day or so, it works again and I can change it to other lines... I use this tool a lot and it throws me back a couple of hours or days in my work, so this is really really bugging me. Please watch the video for better understanding. Can this be fixed, please?
