  1. Hi, I have big problems with both AD (also the latest Beta) & AP: I get very jagged/angular lines, especially when drawing quickly. It seems the digitizer can not keep up with the stroke. I made a screenshot in AD. It seems to occur more with the pixel brushes. The problem is visible in any brush I pick. see screenshot I am working with the last Version of El Capitan. I tried the latest Wacom driver, and also an older one - no difference. I have no Problems with other programs, I tried Clip Studio, Photoshop, Sketchbook and Krita and they work just fine. As it is, I can not use AD & AP for any kind of freehand drawing and painting, which really sucks: I hope you have a solution!
  2. I don't know if it is a Wacom driver related issue, but using a Cintiq 13HD in Designer's pixel persona, the brush drops full-size dots accidentally. (as if Designer window loses focus time to time) Either in Windows ink mode or not. (tablet preferences). The ancient times it was an issue in Photoshop too.
  3. Hi, every time I plug in my Intuos tablet it's like playing the roulette with the zooming options (Zoom In/out the doc) of the trackpad (Macbook pro) that get disabled. Does anyone knows how to fix this issue? Cheers.
  4. This will sound crazy to some but I have an Apple Pencil and find it much less efficient than a tablet due to the ability to hover over an area. I guess it’s become second nature after using graphics tablets for years. I saw that Procreate has third party tablet support and wondered if it might be possible to integrate it with Affinity Photo too. It’s great to be further back from the screen too. I have the tiny intuos photo pen and touch which is small enough to carry anywhere.
  5. Hey Everyone, Just wanted to see if anyone else has experience any issue with Affinity Photo and on Wacom Mobile Studio Pro? I am running the top spec model and seem to be getting a flicking black screen when doing simple tasks such as mask selection and painting. I know that most will say that this has to be a hardware issues given Wacom recent track records and the mountains of complains. However, after some heavy testing and benchmarking, I can not recreate this issue in any other program including all of Adobe's product line. To be clear, the screen does not become unresponsive; it simply turns off and then back on... for example if am painting a section masks and the screen flickers during the stroke, the stroke will be completed properly. Seems that there maybe an issue with how AP/AD is talking to the the GPU; I know that in Substance Painter I had to make and adjustment in regedit to prevent GPU hangs on Nvidia cards. List of Programs I tested with no issues: All done with same 2 million polygon model ZBrush - Polypaint,BPR,Sculpting, General 3DCoat - PBR Rendering, Sculpting Blender - Sculpting, Viewport Rendering, Cycles Render Photoshop - 8 Example from the Affinity Photo Workbook Core Skills sections Substance Painter - Rendering, PBR Maramoset Toolbag3 - Rendering Unity Adam Demo Fire strike Benchmark Unigine Haven There are more...but nothing in the above list had any issue running large or even the same files Any advice would be helpful because at the moment, Affinity Photo is useless to me on this machine. Thanks
  6. After working a few minutes in an illustration with my Wacom Intuos Pro Medium tablet, I was unable to select tools or menu options -- anyway, the software keeps working with the last tool selected. I had to quit AD using ALT-F4. The issue occurs the same way with new and old files. If I use my Logitech mouse the problem does not occur (apparently). Had to downgrade to version Hope the new version gets fixed soon.
  7. Hi, I'm learning some digital painting techniques and hoped to use Affinity Designer for my work. However, I'm experiencing errors when using my pen tablet and light pressure during faster work. Basically, it seems as if: 1. Clicks are registering and therefore leaving single circles/stroke shapes at random times 2. The drawing isn't starting at the beginning of applying pressure, but rather, after a short amount of movement. Here's a video: Can anyone shed some light on this issue? I'm not experiencing the problem in Photoshop or Krita. Thank you.
  8. Hey! Hope you all are doing well! First Thanks for all that you all do and are working towards! Thanks for providing the community with a great and constantly improving program. After using Affinity Designer, there are a few things from utilizing a tablet and the program that I think would benefit user experience and workflow. - Tablet Options When utilizing a tablet. Having some availability options to change and set keys with the tablets through the app would be great. Also, shape/pressure options within the application as well. I suppose more enhanced support when it comes to tablets. - Expanding stroke. When utilizing this, it seems to over compensate on the strokes causing bigger unproportioned (To the original stroke) shapes and makes it difficult to combine/merge the layers to one full layer. -Dividing shapes. When using this, If there could be an option with how many duplicates it makes. It divides and cuts out all the parts, but it does it by doubling up the parts and i end up having to shift around layers to get it to its original state to start working again. Hope this one makes sense. Ill attach examples. Again thanks for what you all do and are developing there at Serif Labs!
  9. I have used a wacom tablet successfully for many years now in Pageplus and Photoplus. They give me just the right amount of control. Now I am making good progress in Affinity Photo and gradually learning to do the same tasks as I previously did in Photoplus. This may be due to me remaining with Windows 7 64bit and it possibly is due to other causes but I do have the inconvenience of having the stylus failing to work properly in the new application and I have to resort to the use of the mouse for selections and to make choices from the menus. I would be interested to learn if anyone else has had a similar result with a tablet stylus. John
  10. In Version and i detected this behaviour.
  11. HI I found a problem with displaying the brush size in Affinity Photo (1.61.93) Win 10 PL. When working with a Wacom tablet or on a Surface Pro. The size and center of the brush are not displayed. I have to use a mouse or touch pad then it appears. After changing to the pen disappears (Sometimes it works for a while after changing.) I thought it was a Wacom driver problem, but on Surface is similar. It's good to see a brush spot, but by drawing off the mask you can only see the white arrow. Robert screen rec.mp4
  12. I'm on macOS High Sierra 10.13.1. I have an early 2013 15-inch Retina Macbook Pro connected to a Intuos Pro small tablet. I use the brush tool in Affinity Designer to doodle simple drawings for animated videos. I've seen serious lag in the Brush tool performance since upgrading to the 1.6.0 version. I pick up the brush tool, try to draw something with my Wacom pen and there is a 1-2 second lag before the brush hits the screen. This sounds like a small thing but when you're drawing 100-200 images for a video, it quickly becomes very annoying. Basically, I need to start every drawing 3-5 times before I the brush "lands" the right way on the screen. I don't have this issue with using the latest version of Illustrator. How do I optimize the performance for my system/use case? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  13. Hello there, I am drawing on a Wacom Bamboo Slate, which can export your drawings (and writing via a kind of OCR) to text, image formats and SVG. Here's Wacom's specs for the Slate: The Slate's ballpoint pen is marketed as having 1024 levels of pressure which in theory seems a bit much for a ballpoint pen, but would be nice if it could reproduce the light and heavy strokes you have made on paper. My problem is that the SVG files exported from Wacom's Inkspace app are filled black shapes instead of strokes. The shapes are thicker than the original paper lines, losing most of the line width variance, and I cannot find a way to reduce the width as you would with a stroke. I am attaching an image to illustrate my problem. Any thoughts on how to convert these shapes into strokes so that I could make them thinner? Many thanks in advance! PS there may be an answer in the thread below ('line width is not yet fully supported in the SVG standard'), but I'd like to confirm if something can be done about this using Affinity Designer?
  14. Hi Guys, first thanks for this beauty, but have some little problem with the Wacom Intuos tablet. Brushes are very slow and in fact not really usable! I have to work now with the mouse to get things working.:( I use Window 10 leatest version.
  15. Hi all, I am having the pressure issue other are having with Wacom Tablets, but I have slight difference: I am using an Intuos 1 tablet that uses a serial port. I am using a Keyspan adapter to convert it to a USB port. So I am gettting pressure in other programs like Microsoft paint, so I am at a loss as to why it is not working in Affinity. Any thoughts?
  16. Hi, I just bought the DAUB Kraken set and am loving the options. I noticed on my desktop, with some of the larger brushes (>100px) I notice I have to paint fairly slowly to get them to render correctly. I just picked up Affinity Photo, so I'm used to Photoshop where I could brush the engine further. Is there anything I can push hardware wise to get more out of the engine? I really love this set, but seems they are quite taxing on the engine itself? I have two screens, one is 4K and the other is 1080p. I tried painting on both and the result is the same. Changing the document size doesn't seem to make a difference. Here are my specs: Intel i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40 Ghz 16GB of RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 (2x displays; 4K & 1080p respectively) Program is installed on an SSD Wacom Intuos4 Large Windows 10 (Fall Creator's Edition) My laptop doesn't seem to have as much of an issue for whatever reason and it is similarly speced. Though I think I am painting on an Intuos3 and iirc, it's on an older driver set than the Intuos4.
  17. I'm not sure if this is a bug or something related to Windows Ink. My tablet seems to be struggling with mapping issues all the sudden. Not sure if this is due to Affinity Photo or maybe something else? UPDATE* -- I discovered this is related to the "high precision tablet input (experimental)" setting. I hadn't noticed it before because it sometimes takes a minute or so to start misbehaving when after opening a document. Un-checking resolves the "bug". I uploaded a video to show the weird brush behavior. It gets super glitchy the further into the recording. In general, I am sweeping my hand from left to right, and right to left, and basically past the menu, the cursor returns to the beginning of the screen instead of continuing over the menus. One variant of this position flipping allows pressure, but in some cases, pressure is not allowed no matter where I draw and it flips out, leaving minimal (.01% pressure) marks on the canvas. It is occasionally sporadic, but for the most part completely reproduce-able. I uninstalled, reinstalled Wacom drivers and restarted computer several times. I doubled checked after recording this video that Wacom wasn't using old configurations, so I trashed those again. I noticed when I returned to AP and starte ddrawing, my hand was all the way on the side and it was drawing in the center of the screen... you can see here in this picture... Also you can see in this video where the "glitch" is cutting across tabbed documents as well (according to tab location up top)... even though only one document is currently viewable: Note: I checked and disabling "Windows Ink" does not correct the glitch.
  18. I set rotation jitter to be controlled from the Art Pen rotation. This works fine in photoshop but is not working in Affinity Photo.
  19. I have this small but quite annoying problem when using a Wacom Intuos 4 medium pen tablet in Affinity Photo When I do something - like creating a brushstroke or moving a handle on a tool etc. - there is a slight "lag" or delay before it actually starts to work. It's only a split second but enough to disturb the workflow. If I put the pen down and wait a short while, it will activate and work as expected. I have tested the tablet in an old Photoshop version and in Wacoms own configuration software, and in both cases it works fine and as expected. No lag at all. Has anybody experienced this problem or maybe has an explanation or even a solution :-) I am on a Windows 7 machine and newest version of Affinity Photo. Thanks Best regards Jes
  20. I can't seem to get fat/thins line to work with my Wacom Tablet. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Does Designer use the pressure sensitivity of a Wacom in the current release? Thanks
  21. I am experiencing a very bizarre problem playing macros with my Wacom pen. When I click on a macro in the library with my pen it turns blue but the macro does not play. It does very occasionally but on most occasions it requires several attempts (usually three or four) before it responds. If I click in the library with my mouse it plays first time always. I have tried the following: Verified my Wacom driver is up to date and re-installed it for good measure. Tried every variation I can think of in tap speed, pressure and duration. Tried adjusting tip pressure in the Wacom driver. To check if I had a pen tip problem I have tried mapping the left click to the eraser button and the side buttons. No difference. I have tried mapping left click to the tablet touch surface and finger tapping. No change. My tablet and pen work perfectly in every other aspect of AP and AD and in all my other 'pen sensitive' graphic apps as well as in the El Capitan OS. The problem is unique to the Library in AP. Has anyone else experienced anything resembling this? Does anyone have any bright troubleshooting ideas? This is totally bizarre and frustrating. :( Mac Pro 2 x Quad Core. OSX 10.11.6. Intuos Touch Pro 5 Large.
  22. In the adjustments panel I have deleted all the presets in the gradient map tab, just left the default and created 3 new presets. I can’t pick them with the Wacom pen, it works randomly, I have to click them several times to work. Picking them with the mouse works fine.
  23. Hello, im new here, sorry in advance for my bad english Since the 1.6 update im having a annoying problem when using the Pen Tool. 24. I'm having an issue when using Affinity Photo or Designer with Astropad connected or a Wacom Intous 5 touch connected, where the fans on my MBPr 15" go on high and stay there until I'm done with the selections and deselect. Once that's done then everything calms down and goes back to normal. This only happens with these devices connected. Using selection tools without them connected there is no issue. Connected to using the selection tools and the fans is that sometimes for no apparent reason the selection tools just won't work at all, but the fans kick on while trying to use them as if they are working. It's bizarre and weird to say the least. Seems like the selection tools are having issues in many ways. I also have Photoshop and there is no issue using the program or it's selection tools with these devices connected. Why would having a drawing device connected to the computer cause this program to struggle with selections? This is a huge problem for it stresses the computer for no reason. I do not want to go back to Adobe products, but cannot stress my very expensive computer on such a simple task all day long. Also, cannot use this program if these tools just don't work for no apparent reason. Please fix this! Thank you for any and all info regarding this issue and for anything you can do to fix it.
  25. Hi! I have a pretty important question here ... (at least for me ) I want to buy a graphic tablet to stop wasting paper all the time. I usually create logos on paper, scan them and then vectorise my concepts. But I thought it was time for a change. So I want to buy a graphic tablet with a screen. (I've already tried without screen and I don't like it) So got on Amazon, and I found the Huion GT-185. This model is in my price range, it is big enought for me, ... As every good buyer does, I did some research : some say the tablet doesn't work with affinity, others say it does ... confusing. So, I would like to know if any of you use a graphic tablet with a screen that works completely fine and that isn't to expensive ... I said I would go up to 550€, but I prefer less of course Thank you for your responses in advance
