These "beta" builds offer an opportunity to trial bug fixes, add support for new file formats and show off new features before they are launched. This post is designed to be an aid to knowing if you are trying the latest beta version of the Affinity software on your platform. Product Name | Platform | Beta Ver. | ====================|==================|===========| Affinity Designer | MacOS 10.9-10.14 | 1.8.0.5 | Affinity Photo | MacOS 10.9-10.14 | 1.8.0.166 | Affinity Publisher | MacOS 10.9-10.14 | 1.8.0.556 | MacOS Customer Betas require you to be an owner of the paid for version of the software to work. You either need to have the software installed on the same computer as the customer beta OR if you bought direct from the affinity.store website you can provide the product key to activate the beta. If you would like to try the MacOS Customer Beta build look for the top (pinned) post in each of these forums: Affinity Designer beta for Mac Affinity Photo beta for Mac Affinity Publisher Public beta for Mac Windows build numbers and Mac builds are technically independent. The third number increases each time a public release is made, the last number is generated by a build server and so not directly related to each other. 3. Don't upgrade to this version, it's got a serious bug that makes it unusable. It breaks all the text on everything on windows 10!
  4. My Affinity Designer will not install the latest update. Please provide me with a solution. wolfchen
  5. We are pleased to announce an update for the Windows release of Affinity Photo, version 1.7.3 Changes in this build The changes in Affinity Photo for Windows 1.7.3 (over the last release Affinity Photo 1.7.2) are as follows: Fixes Fixed masks not working in a group of adjustments. Fixed Minimum Blur live filter constantly resetting Radius slider to zero when changing other values. Fixed failure to import .ABR brushes. Fixed PSD import crash (with embedded ICC profiles with non-ASCII names). Fixed Transform panel behaviour when transforming a sheared object with aspect lock. Fixed import of layered TIFF sporadically failing to load text layers. Fixed crash when install location contains a non-ASCII character. Fixed crash at startup (due to initialising crash reporter). Updated translations. Earlier changes and fixes in 1.7.x since 1.6 (including the new 1.7 features) are listed in some detail in this earlier update announcement. This thread is for commenting on this announcement. Please do not post bugs or problems that you find when using this version of the software in this thread, instead make a new thread in the Photo Bugs on Windows section and questions about usage go in the Desktop Questions forum. UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers) The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in Help > About Affinity Photo). If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the Affinity Store software it will check for updates and offer any available update. The latest update will install over the top of any earlier version, with no need to uninstall. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "Download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Photo for Windows) can be downloaded from this link. (that installer is NOT for Windows Store purchases and needs a product key). If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.
  6. hello I post this message to try to find a solution to my problem I apologize if this subject has already been treated in another topic I cannot open an affinity desinger file if it was created with a higher version, my university does not update the software for technical reasons and I cannot open my files from these versions. is there an option in the software to maximize the compatibility? If not, is there any software to edit or delete the version of the version on the file? If not, is there documentation on the .afdesign files in order to manually modify the file with an exadecimal editor like notpad ++? thank you for your help

  8. I have downloaded the update to Affinity Publisher today 03/12/2019. It has uninstalled the original installed version and the the new install failed. I therefore have no program to use. Would appreciate some constructive help, thanks I have been unable to find any help whatsoever on the forum(s) which appear to have most if not all support option grayed out.

  11. Adding a "Update" button so the embedded document updates. I use Photo the most, because I can work both with vectors and rastered images and use all the pixel editing tools, also Photo has Live Filters. But, when I want to mount everything in artboards in Designer, and I embed my assets, they don't auto-update, or at least there is no update button. Having to click on Replace Document, find the document, click ok, in order to update changes is not practical. Auto-update would be even better but it's optional. Thank you.
  12. When having Master A containing a linked image and a Master B containing Master A, when updating the linked image in the document only Master A gets the updated image. Master B keeps the old image. So all masters containing a master with a linked image don't get updated when we reload the changed linked image in the document. See video. only-first-masterpage-updates.mp4
  13. This may not be a bug, but a limitation of the software. I am an architect and use Designer for site analysis graphics, amongst many other uses. The graphics tend to be built up using many layers, each of which has a unique bit of data. I then bring the graphic into publisher and select which layers I want to show. Two things: I have found that if I copy an placed asset and double click to edit the layers, the layer changes will affect the copy and the original. So to avoid this, I place a fresh instance of the graphic for each view. This works fine. Until... If I make a change to the original designer file, the resource manager quite helpfully tells me to update the content in the publisher file. But... every instance of the placed graphic then gets reset to the same layer settings, so I have to go through the whole report, resetting all the layer structures. Is there a way of the placed asset remembering the layer settings? If not, can I please request this as a tweak to the next iteration of Publisher? Many thanks. Loving the software.
  14. I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem, but since the last update both Photo and Affinity have been crashing. I have never had any issue before, but now I dread the "not responding" half way through something. I have sparked it up again this morning and 5 minutes later it is "not responding". I can't wait for the next update because I fear for my sanity. Would it cause a problem with the program if I uploaded a previous version? Many thanks
  15. Stability issues as well (iPad Pro 2018). Any fix on the horizon? Thank you. Otherwise, awesome app!
  16. My AP is crashing almost every time I try to do anything in it. I scrapbook with psd templates and jpg/png elements as well as jpg photos. How can I get some help with this?
  17. Hello, When moving a Publisher file from a PC to a mac, the images linked in documents are noted as 'missing' - I believe this is because the server path appears to be changing... On the mac the path includes the server 'share' name whereas on the PC the server share is noted as a drive letter (Y:\) instead. Firstly, is there a way around this within Publisher? Secondly, if not, is there a way to do bulk updates to linked images? I'd have expected that, when I update one image within a folder, the others with the same general path will also automatically update. However, currently I have to update the each individually. Am I missing something? All thoughts gratefully received! Edward
  18. Dear forum, dear support team, I had upgraded the long path from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 (each update had to be installed for 7, then upgrade to Win8, then install each update, then upgrade to 8.1, then install each update (took 3 days to complete)) As I found out later, everything survived, EVEN the installed applications, but NOT %windir%\installer, where all the setup files are stored, weirdly. I did, however, finally fire up Affinity Designer and got informed that there is an update available. Of course I went and get it (same for Affinity Photo). Next, I did right click on the setup exe, executed that one as Admin and it said right away "upgrade to 1.7.x". - I clicked that button as well, and in the very next dialog it said "an error occured". I had only one choise to click on "exit". Cool. What now? I tried to manually deinstall the product (file system and registry), but no luck. It still claims to be installed. Also right clicking the msi file, contained in the setup exe, didn't bring me any further, as this one can only maintain already installed products, which... it said, is not the case. There is, however, a set of log files created by setup. in my %temp% folder: MSIc238.LOG: "Das System kann das angegebene Gerät oder die angegebene Datei nicht öffnen." (System cannot open the device or file) in %temp%\AffinitySetup\58b13cae-e824-11e9-be93-74d435864182: Setup.log: ----------------------------------------------------- Trying to start process: T:\TEMP\AffinitySetup\58b13cae-e824-11e9-be93-74d435864182\SetupUI.exe /log=true Succeeded: 1 Waiting for process to finish... 19. In two cases, when trying to update from 1.7.1 to 1.7.2 and also from 1.7.2 to 1.7.3 when I downloaded the update setup file, it is interruped by "Failed" error. I have to download the regular latest version, have to reboot the notebook (before that the C:\Program Files\Affinity\Designer folder is inaccessible - behaving like it's deleted but it's not - I have no rights to the folder even as an admin) and then do the normal instalation.

  22. "Funny" that the Affinity Publisher internal update is less than 25 MB while the Affinity Designer and Photo 1.7.3 updates from the Mac App Store are over 400 MB, each. Does this reflect the actual update size for each application or is due to differences between distribution channels (Affinity Store vs Mac App Store)?
