  1. The line is composed from an OSM-PDF of many short lines. Why it is now rotated 180 degrees I do not know. I did not manage to place text reasonably here. Okay, it is a short line and I have redrawn it now. But it is not logical for me. Line01.afpub
  2. Hey folks! Migrating from Illustrator, and loving it so far! I have many lines in a project. Most of these lines need a label. I would love to make the labelling process as easy as I can. The photo attached shows two methods. I would love to figure out how to replicate the bottom result automatically. For it, I added an appropriately sized box and boolean subtracted that from the expanded stroke. The middle is just the two layers untouched. The top layer is what I am unable to get past. Thank you!!!
  3. Affinity Photo 1.9 does text on path and much more. This video Affinity Photo tutorial uses the Beta version. You can download it free yourself and it will not affect your current version. It is a separate app. with some long awaited improvements. https://youtu.be/fEyp1FLzB7Y
  4. Hi, I've the following scaling issue: I have a logo that consists of several shapes and 2 text paths. The logo is used as a symbol, in different layouts for mobile and web screens. How can I scale the logo including its child-objects (the 2 text on paths), without loosing the correct visual appearance of the logo? If I scale the logo (the whole object) down: - the text wraps around the curves (as it is described in the AD help) - that means I have my big logo (which looks good) a smaller logo with to large text, so I have to modify the text separately on the smaller logo (the instance of the symbol). But if I do so, I loose the correct visualization on the other symbols (the original, the bigger ones). And vice versa. An infinite loop... 1.) I need an option like "scale with object" as it exists for layerFX or 2.) the default scaling behavior of text on paths must be like that Thanks a lot for your time, your ideas, your help, Stefan.
  5. I’m trying to place text on a circular path so that the letters are evenly spaced, but after dragging the start/end handles as far as I can there is still more space between the first and last letters than there is between the other letters (see photo). How can I make it so all the letters have the same amount of space between them on the path? If I drag the end handle any further the final W switches over to the inside of the path.
  6. Hello! I looked for similar issues but found none that described my experience, so I'm starting a new thread. I'm having an issue where the subtract operation works for two specific layers but doesn't work after a small change is made. (Yes, fill mode is set to alternate) I want to subtract a text on a path from a simple shape, see here: Upon hitting subtract I am left with the expected result (correctly subtracted): However, when I try the same with the text in German (which is what I am intending to do), I end up with something different. Same setup, only the text has changed: result: There's just nothing left. It was driving me a mad because I thought I had made a mistake and simply couldn't figure out what was going wrong. Having isolated the issue so clearly I believe it must be a bug, right? It's the same when I convert the text to shapes first, by the way. Any insight would be most welcome, thanks! klsmn
  7. Is it possible to have Text On Path in Affinity Photo? I know it's possible in Affinity Designer but I can't seem to do it in Affinity Photo. I tried creating a Path with the Pen Tool and then using the Artistic Text Tool and typing but can't get it to follow the path.
  8. Is there a way (directly or as a not-horribly-time-comsuming-warp-each-single-letter work around) to keep text on a curved path upright? Or is there a better tool than "text on a path"? What I want to do is create an undulating path and have text follow it, but I want all the letters to remain upright/vertical. A perfect example is the "Daughters of the American Revolution" in the image I've attached. I have both Designer and Photo, so I can use either/both to solve this problem. I've searched the forums and found a couple old posts that suggest a) there isn't or b) such a feature might be coming at some later date. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Darin
  9. Would like to see Affinity PHOTO add option to type text on a path. Example draw a path with pen took and come back and type text on the path drawn.
  10. Ok guys...I'm sure there's a simple solution that I am just overlooking here. I fully understand the text on a path setup but I'm interested in something a little different. I would like my top edge of my font to remain straight. I would like the bottom edge of my font to follow a path. I don't want to cut out that portion of the letters, just have them follow a path. I am attaching an image that is similar to what I am trying to do so it hopefully makes more sense. Thanks in advance!! Chad
  11. Hi guys...quick question for those with experience with text on a path. I am familiar with how to place text on a path but I don't know how to adjust the starting point of the text. In the past, I have done text on a path in a circle for a couple logos and if it started in an odd location, I would just rotate the text until it was correct. Now I am placing text on a path but not in a circle and I can't figure out how to adjust the starting point. If I rotate the text like I did with a circle it no longer follows the shape. Thanks in advance! Chad
  12. If this shows up elsewhere my apologies. I thought I had successfully posted it but it disappeared. I'm an old Freehand user. There are two features of Freehand I cannot find elsewhere, would like to know if AD can do either: 1) Align nodes. In FH the align tools also worked on nodes (control points, handles, etc.) within bezier curves. You could draw a line, select two nodes, and align them. 2) Easily and quickly wrap text to a circle and have the text on the bottom read upright. In FH you'd type text on the sphere/path and hit enter to break the line and everything after would be right side up. Like this:
