  1. Is there any plan to support iPad mobile / touch interface for Surface (windows) platform?
  2. Hi everyone, I would like to use Affinity Designer on a Surface Pro 6. I could only find some old comments to this topic, in which users described some problems using the software on a Surface and especially when using the Surface Pen. Is there anyone using Affinity Designer on a newer model of Surface Pro (6 or 2017) and working with the new Microsoft Surface Pen, who would share his ecperience? What do you recommend to install on the Surface: Desktop version or App version? I really appreciate your help! Thanks a lot!
  3. Dear Affinity-Team! I'm very impressed by the iPad version of your apps. Sadly I do "only" own a Microsoft Surface (Tablet). You can run Affinity Photo and Designer on it but sometimes it is a big pain in the ass to be not able to take full advantage of the power your programs offer. Especially without a cover and a mouse only equipped with the Surface Pen, it is difficult to get buttons right. For that reason, it would be just awesome to have a surface version with all those fantastic features and as intuitive as the iPad version. I hope to hear positive news soon. All the best from Germany. Stefan
  4. I use a Wacom Intuos S, and many times when I go to select a tab on the right things get really crazy. For some reason, taps get registered as drags and the panels get rearranged in all sorts of crazy ways. I have to go and select "Reset Studio" every time. Maybe the solution lies in reducing the drag sensitivity for the panels while using a graphics tablet? Edit: Not the tabs themselves, but actually the drag handle for the panels. My mistake. I added an image for clarification.
  5. Hello, I'm trying to use my Huion Tablet G10T in Affinity Designer but it does not work properly. The problem is that it has a lag or delay that does not let draw the stokes/lines well. Also when one moves something with the tablet Pen, it continues moving by itself without direction and no stopping (it stops only when I changed the pen for the mouse). I recently changed the Driver for the last one available on the Huion website -HuionTablet_MacDriver_v14.3.10.181225 (beta) I'm using: MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 The Tablet works well in Illustrator and Photoshop, but not in Affinity Designer. Any suggestion?
  6. Hi all! I'm writing this 'cause I have a couple of issues using the Insproy G10T tablet with Affinity Designer, and I'm not sure where the issue lies. This tablet works just 20% of time in Affinity Designer. Sometimes it works well for the first couple of minutes, and then just starts to lag. Now, the issue here seems to be very specific: if you click something to select it, it takes a couple of long seconds to do so, unless you lift the pen all the way. Let me explain: if you lift the pen from the surface so that it still tracks the pointer, it doesn’t select/perform the action quickly at all. If you lift the pen so that the pointer is not tracked anymore, it selects it instantly. This seems to be true across multiple actions: resizing, dragging, scaling… I don’t know if this is a problem on the Affinity side or rather something Huion should solve. In fact, I wrote a mail to Huion as well. I just know two things: - the tablet works fine in other programs (Adobe Xd and Pixelmator tested): seems to indicate that the issue is on Affinity side - other tablets (like Wacom ones) work just fine in Affinity Designer: seems to indicate that the issue is on Huion side. I really wish someone could fix this or help me some way. Here is a video that may help to clear things up: https://goo.gl/photos/xwGx8t4dUu1hCfRi8 Thank You in advice, Philip Müller
  7. The brush size/hardness control is working on Affinity by using Alt+Mouse_RC+Mouse_LC. However, there is no way of doing the same thing using a tablet pen (tested with Wacom Intuos Pro). I should be able to do this very easy, similarly as demonstrated in this video with Photoshop. This issue is reproducible in the beta release 1.7 as well.
  8. I have a Ugee pen tablet (UG-2150), and I'm pretty bummed with the issues I've been having with it. Yesterday, the pen stopped working all together. As I tried updating the drivers, I was told that there is no tablet connected. And this stinks, because I have a lot drawings I need to do. The monitor is working, but the pen is not. I finally decided to leave Ugee, and I am considering perhaps getting a Huion instead. For my workflow, I am interested in getting a pen tablet monitor, not a graphic tablet. Of course, I searched the forum for similar issues, but before considering this purchase, does any know how a Huion pen tablet monitor works with the Affinity products? Affinity Designer is the main program I use. It would be horrible to see if there are compatibility issues.
  9. Hi, I'm using an Intuos 5 Touch (PTH-850) and can pinch-zoom and scroll the canvas using two fingers gestures, but rotating doesn't work. I went to shortcuts preferences -> view rotation and tried to change it and it mapped it to Alt+F13 and Alt+F14. And it works but it rotates the canvas in like 30 degree and feels ugly. The smoothest touch controls I experienced with my tablet was in Autodesk Sketchbook (pinch-zoom and rotation), so I don't think there's something wrong with my hardware.
  10. Greetings, I would like to report 2 bugs which I have found using my tablet on Affinity Photo 1.6.5.135. The tablet I'm using is a Gaomon WH850. 1. Holding Space Bar + Drag to pan view repeats the action of the tool I'm on quite frequently. I believe it's only Quick Selection and Free Hand Selection Tool. Take a look at the video attached. 2. I can't move my cursor when using the Right+Click+Drag to make foreground in refine mode. Now I'm not sure if it is my tablet that's the issue or just how the general tablet works on Affinity Photo. So far only two tools have this issue. Paint Brush Tool seems to work fine. There is also an ocassional unable to use tool hotkeys which seems to appear at random. But that don't bug me as much as these bugs. Pun intended. Hope to hear a fix soon. Affinity Photo Gaomon Tablet bug.mp4

    What tablet do I use

I received a couple of emails asking about what tablet I use since I don't use a Wacom. Wacoms are nice and I even own a Wacom worth about 800 bucks that you can draw directly on the screen (the 2 model below the centiq) but I want to sell it because my new computer connection does not have DVI port. Anyway I use 80 dollar nock off from a company in china that to be honest I think it works just as well as an intuous. for a fraction of the cost. you can check out here.
  12. Hi, I'm often using Affinity to draw with a pen on my windows laptop and the most frustrating part is undoing strokes. When using the laptop as a tablet, the keyboard is folded away and I can't press Ctrl+Z. While I've read that there's no touch based interface planned, I would love to be able to add shortcuts to some basic actions like undo/redo to the toolbar like this for example: Actions I would use in the toolbar would be: Undo/Redo Changing selection mode (add to selection, remove from selection, new selection) for objects on the canvas and for layers Grouping selected Layers
  13. (Affinity Photo) I've been trying the context menu, editing the brushes to have size jitter (including the curve) to no avail. It seems to only do the regular round brush stroke without the taper despite showing in the preview. I've seen other people with Wacom Bamboo tablets where the pressure doesn't seem to work, that's the case for me, but even if I don't have pressure sensitivity I just want a tapered brush to draw with. Any help with this would be appreciated
  14. Hello, I have a Huion Inspiroy H640P tablet and pen and I am having the following problem. When I try and use this in the Affinity Photo for Windows 10 I can see the pen move, I can select a menu item, move layers etc. However, when I try and use the brush option it will not paint. I can see the brush move, change size, hardness etc. But it will not put down any colour. I have tested that I am on the correct layer and not using the undo brush, by trying the pen, then put down the pen and without making any other changes I then use the mouse/trackpad, and they work fine. I pick up the pen and without any changes try again and I can see the movement of the brush head, but nothing. I have also tested it using the Windows doodle/paint/memo option and all work. Affinity Photo version: 1.6.5.123 Hulion driver version: 14.7.6 Windows 10 Home version 1803 OS build: 17134.286 Laptop: Lenovo ideapad 305 Ram: 8GB Intel i3 Processor. So I have the most up to date version of driver and software, Windows is patched up to date.

    Problem with Wacom Tablet

Hi! I report a problem with the Wacom Intuos Pro M tablet in Affinity Photo 1.6.4.104. Sometimes when I use a brush, the line does not show up, although I can use the "Undo" option. It only helps to restart the application. Yesterday I had to restart 3 times, today two*. Horribly annoying. I have up-to-date tablet drivers (6.3.30-6) #1 Edit *three times
  16. It's me again, just wrote a quick test (in French) on the Astropad iOS app with Affinity Photo. http://www.photographes.tv/Transformer-votre-iPhone-en-tablette-graphique-avec-Astropad-Mini-_a1617.html richarre
  17. Hi Everyone, Made the jump today to buy affinity photo and designer. Whilst I am loving it all, my huion 1060 plus tablet will not work in either program? I have tried it in other programs and it works fine, I have tried different settings, even uninstalling the tablet driver and re-installing it but only affinity photo and designer refuse to allow it to work. Can anyone help me, I really am lost and need to use my tablet with my work on these programs. Thanks in advance! Billie
  18. Hi - New to Affinity Photo here. Are there any differences in software capability for Affinity Photo on the desktop versus tablet versions? It looks like the short answer is “not really”, but I am having trouble confirming this. Thanks, Trxr
  19. I downloaded the trial yesterday, and while the tablet works fine with photosop, krita and illustrator, Affinity designer does not response to pressure changes AT ALL. I tried reinstalling the drivers, changing the brushes, fiddling with the setting, rebooting, and nothing seem to work. OS: Windows 10 x64 build 1607 desktop Tablet: Huion 1060P (new 8192)
  20. Hello- If this topic is covered elsewhere I apologize. I've been looking for my first graphics/drawing tablet to use with Affinity Designer while keeping it under $100. Are there any that you suggest? Is AD compatible with anything that works with MAC? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
  21. Dear all, following the recommendation of my friend, I now consider myself a proud owner of Affinity Photo. However, having just started using it, I have already run into a problem -- and it's a biggie for me. My drawing tablet (GAOMON M106K) doesn't work right with it. I can move the cursor with my pen but when I run it over the drawing surface, no line is drawn even though the brush function is activated and I'm pressing the button on the pen. It's only when I hover slightly over the drawing surface that a line is drawn, which doesn't make drawing easy, to say the least. The same happens when using other tools in the software. How can I draw lines (or use any other tool) with my pen while actually physically touching the tablet with it? (When using other software like GIMP, it works just fine, so it must have something to do with Affinity Photo.) I'm looking forward to any help and hope that you have a great day. Cheers, Jenny. Edit: Whoops, I forgot to mention. I am using the 64 bit version of Windows 10. Edit 2: In finally solved it on my own -- I had to enable the 'experimental' highly precise tablet input in the settings menu. Maybe it helps other newbies like me out there!
  22. Hi: Is there any way I can use a Huinonn1060 Plus with Affintiy Photo? Are there special drivers required? Generic drivers? Temp work arounds? thank you Donald
  23. Hi - I’m a print photographer, primarily, and have just discovered Affinity Photo for the iPad Pro. I’m considering my workflow process and would like to move away from editing on the desktop as the Mac pencil is just so amazing and easy to work with. Does anyone have experience editing and then printing strictly off of Affinity Photo tablet? Curious of the quality (are the prints true to color/expectation?) and ease of sizing, etc. Any thoughts or stories of success / failures would be extremely appreciated. Thanks, Trxr
  24. I recently purchased Photo from the Windows Store and frankly there was one big disappointment: it has major useability problems in Tablet Mode (in my case on a Surface Book 1st Generation). Rightly or wrongly we have come to associate Store apps with Tablet Mode, so it comes as a bit of a shock to find one is just an old fashioned desktop app! On the Surface Book there is basically no ergonomic way of using the keyboard/touchpad at the same time as the Surface Pen and losing the latter is a huge bummer for a graphics app! After getting over the initial disappointment, I did reflect that a couple of relatively minor improvements would make it a lot more usable: 1. UI Scale settings. The app is much more touch friendly if the UI is set to 300% (rather than the recommended 200%). But this is global and wrecks other apps which are scaled properly in the first place. So what is needed is a UI scale setting within the app. On Windows 10, there should be two settings, one for Desktop mode and another for Tablet mode with automatic switching between the two. 2. On-Screen Modifier Icons. The keys that are used as pointer modifiers (shift, alt, ctrl) should have on-screen icons to make up for not having a physical keyboard. These could usefully be ranged at the bottom of the toolbar convenient to the left hand with the pen held in the right.I suggest these work in two ways: either touch and hold them like a virtual keyboard key; or, on machines were touch and pen are distinguishable, it should also be possible to touch the icon with the pen and then the shift state would be toggled until the pen is tapped elsewhere on the screen.

Brush Tool with Wacom Tablet = Slow

I'm on macOS High Sierra 10.13.1. I have an early 2013 15-inch Retina Macbook Pro connected to a Intuos Pro small tablet. I use the brush tool in Affinity Designer to doodle simple drawings for animated videos. I've seen serious lag in the Brush tool performance since upgrading to the 1.6.0 version. I pick up the brush tool, try to draw something with my Wacom pen and there is a 1-2 second lag before the brush hits the screen. This sounds like a small thing but when you're drawing 100-200 images for a video, it quickly becomes very annoying. Basically, I need to start every drawing 3-5 times before I the brush "lands" the right way on the screen. I don't have this issue with using the latest version of Illustrator. How do I optimize the performance for my system/use case? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
