  1. Hello there, i can reproduce a crash of Affinity Publisher when i make a text-selection which goes over multiple pages. It´s a pretty long text which goes over ~20 pages. The interesting part is that i found only one position where this happens. If i make a text-selection over 2 pages somewhere else: it doesn´t crash. The selection goes a little bit crazy, but no crash elsewhere I am on .312 see no newer version but i have opend these files with some of the "newer" versions of publisher which were retracted soon after I´ve attached a screenrecording to see for yourself: 2019-05-22 02-01-13.mov
  2. Hi! I've noticed quite an annoying bug when selecting and moving raster artwork within Affinity Designer's Pixel Persona. I've noticed this same issue in Affinity Photo, as well as the latest beta versions of Designer and Photo, and I have no clue why it happens. When drawing with something like the pixel brush or any brush that has a hard edge (with little to no anti-aliasing), the artwork blurs when being moved, but only when selected with a selection marquee tool, such as the lasso tool, first - see attached screen recording. This leaves a very visible difference between the selected and moved and unmoved artwork, and is even visible at 100%, which is obviously a big no-no for client work. Not totally unrelated, the selection path also seems excessively jagged on screen in comparison to something like Photoshop. I often use the selection tool when colouring my work, but the edge is noticeably jagged, even when zoomed out to 100% as well. I initially thought this may just be the pixel preview, but the jagged edge is very present - see attached screen shot, and it's also very present in the screen recording video too while making the selection path. As a final side note, a Wand Selection tool in Designer's Pixel Persona would be SOOOO helpful. Anyway, I'm not sure if these are bugs, but any advice or workaround for these things will be greatly appreciated! Screen Recording 2019-05-10 at 09.03.56.mov
  3. Hi.. Is there any command similar to the Photoshop "Image - Crop" after making a selection? I want to crop and image to that seletion but i can't find how Thanks
  4. Hi, I have a little Problem with Affinity Photo. I think the solution is simple but I can´t find it or understand it (not in the workbook, tutorial ?? where to find ? ) 1. I make a screenshot with the print key.on the keyboard. 2. Next I paste the screenshot created by Windows into Affinity Photo 3. Now I only need some parts of the screenshot. I want to make a rectangular selection and copy this part into i.E. word or another software. 4. Because the colors are very similiar (another Tools won´t work properly) , it is the easiest way to use a rectangular selection. Every time when I try to copy and paste the rectangualar selection it will always paste the whole screenshot. The rectangular selection isn´t copied at all. Is there any way to make a quick selection and copy this part of a picture into another software? At the moment I have to create layers and a background, next save this part of the screenshot, load it into another software. This Costs a lot of time. I don´t need to save these pictures on the harddrive. How can I do this in a quicker way? Is there any clue ? Regards, timbojones
  5. Hello Team, Want to know if the add of Luminosity mask (Live) is planned for AfPhoto ? actually in beta cycle. Yes Luminosity masks will make life even better and easier for a lot of people, i've learned to use it and it makes a lot of things possible. I know people have said it is possible to mimic it but i'm actually asking about a native one and if it is planned to be implemented. Blessings !
  6. Hi all! First of all, thanks in advance for reading and helping me out, if you can. I have been using Designer for a little bit more than a year now, but I never got to use Photo a lot. I recently came back from holidays and wanted to extract a person from a picture with Affinity Photo, and I'm having trouble with something that should be super easy, and I want to understand why is this happening and how to fix it. The problem is that after using the flood and wand selection tools, I have my desired outline selected, but when I copy and paste (cmd + c and cmd + v), the pasted image is like with a "weird opacity". I don't know how to solve or configure this, and I'm not too technical on image editing either (so apologies for the non-technical terms). I just want a simple selection and copying/pasting whatever is inside, in full, without opacity variation and without copying things outside the outline. I also used selection refining without any good results. It ended up removing selection I wanted, adding unwanted one, even while adding with the refine brush and removing with the modifier, it did whatever it wanted, so I went manually with the wand, varying sizes and snapping configurations. Here is an example for you to see what I'm talking about. The first one is the original image with the selection I want to copy and the second one is how it looks when I paste/mask it. If you see, the light/shadow areas are all wrong (like "low quality") and it even adds something outside the outline for whatever reason. Tried googling and searching with no solution Thanks all for your help!
  7. I see that Circle, Square, etc. Marquee Selection Tools have anti-alias in the menu, but when you use Flood selection and brush selection, they don't. Any reason why? Normally anti-alias is the preferred way to select, but there is no way to "enable" this for these two selection modes.
  8. Hello. Having consigned my CC account to the trash can, I am now learning to use Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. My question concerns the addition of a stroke to the selection marquee. I have searched the forums and cannot find any answer and wonder if a more experienced user of Affinity Photo can help me. Photoshop had a very simple method by which a stroke could be applied to any selection marquee. This was a really useful feature and I used it regularly for highlighting salient features of images which I had included in presentations, where the images would be included to illustrate important points in the discussion. I would like to know what sequence of events I should follow in Affinity Photo when applying a coloured stroke to a selection marquee. Thank you for your assistance.
  9. Hi I'm other applications it is possible to dedicate certain tools to finger gestures. So for instance if I'm currently using the vector brush tool and then draw a line with my apple pen, I can select the line by dragging my finger on the canvas without first tapping the selection tool. This makes the work flow much more convenient and it feels more like iOS than desktop. Please add that to a upcoming release!
  10. How can I transform a selection? In Adobe Photoshop the action was performed by creating a marquee selection and then hitting "Command-T" This would allow me to stretch an area thus removing an unwanted area. Thanks in advance!
  11. Hello ! I noticed a bug that (seemingly) only happens when, instead of opening a file from my drive, I copy an image from the web then create a new file and paste it as a layer : when I want to isolate a part of that layer, I make a selection around that part, then either cut that selection to copy it to another layer or invert the selection and delete the rest. But here, in both cases, the whole layer gets cut or deleted, not taking my selection into account. I tried to do this through keyboard shortcuts and through the Edit menu, to the same result. I also noticed that copying and pasting a selection also copies and pastes the whole layer.
  12. Hello, and sorry if the question have been asked before, but I would like to know if there is a function that would select automatically the "similar objects" according to stroke colour, fill colour, and other parameters. I used this function before in illustrator (Unfortunately, I no longer have it to check) and it was very useful, particularly when you have tones of layers. One of the top reason I may use it is when I am trying to select die-cuts marks on small objects (think small stickers scattered on a big sheet of paper and needed to be cut with let's a say a plotter) We use the same artwork to print the packaging and in that case, I need to get rid of the die-cut marks (they are all with the same stroke colour). The way I was doing in Illustrator was to select one die cut and "auto-select" all the others based on the reference selected stroke colour. If it doesn't exist yet, I'd raise my voice for a feature request Thanks!
  13. Take an image. Paint on it with a soft Erase Brush to see checkerboard beneath (I used Hardness = 50%). Select/Selection from Layer -- creates alpha selection of non-transparent pixels, including feathering (alpha > 0). Invert Pixel Selection, (so selection is all pixels with alpha < 1). Clone something from the unerased image to the selected area. Paint it thoroughly up to the edges of the selection. Deselect selection. You can now see a line of partially transparent pixels (alpha <1). Select Alpha Range, Partially Transparent and it will select this outline. This looks like the Selection From Layer is not selecting all pixels where alpha > 0. This is problematic when I want to select all pixels which are not fully opaque with the selection honouring the alpha level. Yes, selecting Partially Transparent will select pixels where alpha < 1, but it does a hard selection, not a feathered one, leading to visible hard edges in subsequent use.
  14. Hi, To remove the background around an object in a photo I can use the pen tool and draw a shape above it then use that shape as a mask. I want to use a selection made with the selection brush, turn it into a shape to save me time. (I find adjusting shape masks much more efficient than playing with selections.) Is this conversion from selection to vector shape possible in Affinity Designer? Thanks
  15. Why does it select content outside the selection when using refine selection?
  16. Hi, I was testing out the Node Tool Selection Lasso. With Node Tool selected, Alt-Drag around the intended nodes to select on your open shape. Sometimes the lasso will select nodes not within the lasso boundaries. Seems to happen when starting a lasso and it is ambiguous as to which "side" the selection is going to be. I uploaded a screenshot of the entire shape I was playing with. Admittedly one would probably not be using a shape like this for anything, but worth noting how it affects the lasso selection. The two screen grab videos show the irregular behaviour. 2019-03-12_08-12-28.mp4 2019-03-12_08-17-17.mp4
  17. Hello, is there any shortcut to use will have a selection tool to change between add and subtract instantly? Like in PS? This will make my life waaaay easier. thank you!
  18. Windows 10 Home 1809, Publisher 1.7.0.257. The attached GIF shows what's happening better than I can explain it. Basically, selecting some cells from the bottom table actually selects some cells in the upper table, sometimes. Same document that I attached to this post: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/80965-spacing-between-table-cells-in-affinity-publisher/&tab=comments#comment-426146
  19. The pixel selection brush does not work on pixel objects when it is placed outside an artboard (i.e. the pasteboard). What's up with that?
  20. In both AP and AD, I have created a reference layer (1), placed a photo on it, and lock that layer. Another layer (2) was created and is being used to hold elements traced from the locked layer. The problem, I cannot box-select the elements on the second layer if the box begins over the photo on the locked layer. Even though layer one is locked it get selected. I can also just click on the background image on that locked layer and select it, of course, I can't do anything with it once selected...because it is locked. The question: Is there a setting I am missing that prevents the object on the locked layer (or locked object) from being selected? Seems to me that if something is truly locked I should not be able to select it. Thank -Bill
  21. I have asked this very basic question before but never received an answer. So I am trying again. Is there a way to draw a circular (or rectangular) selection from a centre point? With the shape tool and all transformations this is done in a consistent manner by holding down the Cmd key. With selections the Cmd key is (inconsistently) elsewhere assigned. Since most of my selections end up being converted to a mask layer I have a work around by drawing a shape layer and then rasterising to a mask and dragging it in the layers palette to where I need it. But it's irritating and seems rather unnecessary. Am I missing something embarrassingly obvious here?
  22. Dear Serif. I purchased A Photo last night and was really put off by what I believe to be sub-par selection tools. I tried trimming an image with the polygonal selection tool, but the results are very rough and ugly, even with anti aliasing ticked. I will post images soon. Are you aware of this? Will it be fixed soon. It's not acceptable and actually not ready for commercial use in my opinion.
  24. How can I turn my curve into a selection so that I can continue working with it? Or is this function not yet available?

I've gone to the selection tab & tried the 'Select sample colour' but i can't find a way to make it work. I've spent the last 3 hours looking at youtube tutorials, FAQ's & forums yet i have no idea what i'm doing right or wrong, please help.
