  1. Until this morning Affinity Photo has worked just fine for over a year, however today, it crashes whenever I try to save a file. It seems to be so corrupted I can no longer work with it. It is also running more slowly than normal. I am running it on a Mac Pro OS 10.7.5 as I am unable to upgrade to more recent OS systems due to the age of my computer which is no longer supported by Apple. I have already run Disc Repair, the disc is OK and I also repaired the permissions but to no avail. It still crashes. I think the problem might be solved if I trash a preferences file but there are four of
  2. Thie mornig I opened my Suite to continue a job due monday morning. After a couple of minutes editing in Publisher, on "save" the app turns off, leaving (fortunately) the file unaltered. I tried several times, with and without admin privileges, But no way. Every time I try to save, the App crashes fatally. I changed to my backup machine, with a previous version installed. Same drama. So it must be the file. Special page format? This happens to be a pesky failure under production conditions, probably will be busting my deadline. (still got 16 hours to get this done.) Any ideas? (file a
  3. I organise most of my documents into projects in Designer. When I save documents they go into the default save location, whether they are in a project or not they all go into the same folder. I should like to request that when a document is saved: If it is not part of a project then it defaults to the default save location If is part of a project and a folder with the same name as the project exists then it is saved to that folder If it is part of a project and there is no folder with the same name as the project then Designer creates the folder and saves the file to it
  4. Hi, Could you give us a way to save interface layouts, with customized toolbars and palettes layouts?
  5. Hi, I had a very unpleasant problem: I draw parts of the face that will be automatically painted using code, but for this I need to save the files in svg and open in adobe illustrator, but the order of the layers changes completely, some become a group, new ones appear ... I need a layer called "color" to be colored, but for some reason it becomes a group. An example in the picture: I need the eyeball to be separate, as in the screenshot in affinity designer, the layer order and grouping are ideal, but everything changes when exporting and opening in the illustrator. I tried changing the set
  6. Dear Affinity people, I've encountred a strange behaviour when saving files. I've always thought that the program will offer as a saving location the folder the original file was placed in. But when I open a picture in Affinity Photo, for example, make some adjustments and try to save it or export - it will show totally different location, without much sense. If I save it in some random location, the next time I open another file from a different folder, it will not even offer the last used location for saving - this would still be strange and make some sense but even thi
  7. Hi there, could someone help me out with this issue about Affinity software? Recently I updated both Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo to v.1.7. After the update, when I try to save, it returns me an error message, which you can clearly see in the image I attached. I have my Desktop connected to OneDrive, uploading anything I save on it automatically. I tried to save the file in the "Download" folder, which is not connected to OneDrive, but it gives me the same error. I love software by Affinity, that's why I bought them, but this way I really can't work with them.
  8. Hello! Please help! I’m trying to save as a jpg a selection with a transparent background. I want the object alone, without the black or white background. I did that once, but I’m unable to repeat the process. Frustrating! Your help requested, Please...
  9. Hi. All I'm trying to do is save a rectangular selection (made with marquee too) to a file. However when I follow the instructions, repeated below in blue, the only file type that available is "afselection". I don't know what that is, but all I want is to save it as a JPG or PNG file. Please advise. Thanks. To save a selection to a file: With a pixel selection in place, from the Select menu, select Save Selection. Adjust the dialog settings as required. Click Save.
  10. I'm not sure if this should be bug or should be filed somewhere else. I go to save the file and get an error message about the file could not be saved, shutting down. I go to open it again and now the file is damaged. This happens randomly but enough that I keep multiple files because it happens often enough to cause fits. The file is local running on MacOS Catalina in Publisher 1.7.3 on a 16" Macbook pro. The file is local rather on a server. thanks for any insight! PC Bicent Art Boards - damaged.afpub
  11. As a 'Photoshop Refugee' I retained Bridge when I changed to Affinity. However, I can only use SAVE and not SAVE AS with Affininy as when selecting save as I cannot see the image in Bridge. As I understand the situation it is better to save with afphoto rather than jpeg but I cannot do this and still see the images. I would be grateful if someone would suggest an alternative to Bridge that will allow save as and still see the image.
  12. Hi, I'm new to this forum and joined mainly to try to get an answer to this issue. I'm also relatively new to Affinity Photo. I'm just learning ho two use it. I'm working on creating a jigsaw view of a photo and for some reason its taking 20 to 30 mins to save. The size of the file is 700Mb. Any support welcome regards Derek
  13. When I have multiple tabs open and try to close the window, AP asks me for every file if I would like to save or delete the changes I made. In the macOS version, AP displays the warning first for the file that has been opened first, without switching to the file, which means that it doesn't show the respective file in the background. In a previous thread, walt.farrell confirmed that this bug doesn't occur in the Windows version: I have lost data multiple times because of this, and I hope this can be fixed in a future version.
  14. When I have multiple tabs open and try to close the window, AP asks me for every file if I would like to save or delete the changes I made. The problem is that it doesn't show the file the prompt is for in the background, which is pretty misleading IMO. I have deleted changes from my documents multiple times because of this issue. This issue could also be solved if AP had an auto save feature. Why can't AP auto save at least every hour or two?
  15. I am having consistent problems with affinity designer crashing. it crashes when i load and save files. I have attached a screenshot of the error messages. I am saving and loading from internal hard drive. My files have a combination of jpeg and vectors. Please help me understand how to fix this problem. THANKS!
  16. I have a 65 MB Designer file that has started crashing. I was scaling several buttons (created with one of the gold effects). It was made into a symbol, but I couldn't seem to change the symbol and have it affect all buttons across my file. So, I was scaling each button individually with the Transform tool. Upon scaling the 15th button or so, Designer crashed. Subsequently, starting over, it crashed again even sooner. After crashing several times and haveing to redo everything each time, I made just one change, then saved and it crashed. How can I get my file to save, and not crash? Since
  17. I'm going to start by saying that I don't fully know if this is a Designer error, an error on OneDrive, or it's just that Files app work on a weird way. Looking forward to some clarification on this, and now onto the problem: Open an Affinity Designer file stored in OneDrive by using the Open from Cloud command, notice the document's Modified date/time Do some changes, doesn't really matter what they are, just enough to warrant a file save Save the file by using the Document > Save command, or by going into the home hub and choosing Save on the document's hamburger menu
  18. Hello group, anyone else have issue with simply saving a document while it is OPEN when selecting save in the drop down menu? It simply doesn’t which causes me to loss work when it crashes (which it seems to do more frequently since 1.7 update on my ipad) Previously I would deselect any layer, click the selection tool then (and only then would ) I be would able to actually save with the document currently open. The other option was exiting the doc then reopening it (slow..) . Maybe I am missing something that I should know about? Thanks
  19. Hi All I am using the Mac Mojave and the photos app. When I click on a photo and edit in affinity photo , make changes in affinity photo, and then close the document, save. The save doesn't change in photos - and the photo remains the same what am I doing wrong? thanks,
  20. Hi, I have run into a problem with Affinity Photo. It will not save my files. When I try to save a file it says: Failed to save document: (where the document is placed) Save failed because the file could not be created. Please report to Serif. File::OpenUnmanaged fopen E001 [errno = 2] I have attached a screenshot of the message. The thing is, the place it shows where it wants to create/save the file, is not the place I picked for it. Also, the place it reports is a folder that has been moved. But it should not matter, because this is an entirely new file and therefore th
  21. Hi I know there have been topics on batch processing but I keep hitting a problem, I'm wanting to resize and watermark my photos to send to clients, but when recording the macro it says it can not record the save instruction in the macro. is there a workaround for this, as it basically means you can not do any batch processing even though the option is there.
  22. I am trying to save my document that I've put a lot of work into, but now it won't let me save it. I have tried saving it in various locations and names and get this same (attached) error. I have plenty of storage space on my laptop and am not using any external drives. I have tried simply creating a new file and copying the layers, but it still won't save the document. I am able to export the documents, which I have done, but I do not want to lose the source document. Another interesting thing, I saw that it is somehow saving the document though it tells me it isn't. But, when I try to
  23. Hi, I was recently using the Publisher Beta and unfortunately, lost a bit of (thankfully simple!) work due to a disconnection with my work VPN. We use a VPN to access in-house servers, which has a fairly short timeout period. Whilst working on a Publisher file, the VPN disconnected. When I went to save my work, an error popped up saying that Publisher had lost access to the file (and linked files) and immediately closed. My work was gone and a shock on my face. Whilst common sense would propose saving frequently, is it silly to suggest a failsafe option of switching to the Save
  24. I imported a client's PDF (52 pages) (they use "Scribus"!) and seemed to be able to do some manipulation But could not save via "file>save as" which greyed-out (as was "save") Only option seemed to be to exit and the respond "yes" to do you want to save. Which I did. The file was saved to the desktop. Later, when trying to open file got error message to say file type not recognised!
