  1. It would be very useful to be able to save also the different sources used in the Focus Merge function, to be able to make the often necessary corrections (halos, alignment errors, ..) in multiple work sessions because it may not be possible to complete the work at the same time.
  2. This may not be a bug, per se, but it seems very odd to have seen the warning message (attached). AFPUB 1.8.3; Mac OS X 10.15.3 I was editing and saving a document as I went. I had also saved sequential versions as I edited (to see if any problems arose). I keyed Command + S to "save" the file, did some more edits and keyed Command + S again and got this warning message. I should not have gotten that type of message as there is no other instance of AFPUB or any other process (including Design and Photo) that would access the document in question. That is to say there could be no reason (except bugs IMHO) that the message should have popped up. I did perform a "save as" as the message suggested.
  3. Hi, I tried to find solution but couldnt. For other tools you can go to Edit > Defaults > Save - for selection tool it doesnt work I want to have default settings for Refine - not have to manually change it each time and switch off that weird "matte edges" option (who even uses that) Is there a way to have default setting for Refine Selection tool? Same as per my photo?
  4. Dear Affinity people, I've encountred a strange behaviour when saving files. I've always thought that the program will offer as a saving location the folder the original file was placed in. But when I open a picture in Affinity Photo, for example, make some adjustments and try to save it or export - it will show totally different location, without much sense. If I save it in some random location, the next time I open another file from a different folder, it will not even offer the last used location for saving - this would still be strange and make some sense but even this doesn't happen. So how exactly does the saving work? Why it doesn't offer the original location first? Thanks. David
  5. Im loving Affinity, great job. I am however trying to integrate it into a larger workflow using Cinema4D and Unity3D. Its great that I can open up a .psd into affinity but I want to be able to save as a .psd each time without having to export and save a separate file. I deal with hundreds of files like this and it is very slow and much more complicated to export separate .psd's. Unfortunately there is no support for Affinity in 3D apps and doesn't look there will (or ever will be). This could be solved if files could simple be saved .psd. Is there any way of saving .psd without export? Thank You!
  6. I opened via Media Browser a photo I have on Mac Photos App. Once I edited the photo in Affinity, is there a way to save the edited photo back to Mac Photos App
  7. Does anyone know what's the default setting for saving (not exporting) JPEG? After editing JPEG files with layers flattened, we could "save" the file directly. However, I don't know the quality and other settings when saving JPEG. I know I could export JPEG file with the settings I want, but to speed up the workflow, it'd be great if I could know and adjust the settings of default JPEG saving. If anyone knows how to do it, please let me know. Thank you very much for your help. Best regards, Sleepy
  8. Device: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) System: MacOS 10.15.3 (19D76) Designer version: 1.8.2 Can't save any files, just like the image said. Already open the FULL DISK ACCESS for Designer.
  9. Quick Background: I have Affinity Photo for both iPad and Mac and use is since 2017 (on and off as hobby). My main use is on the iPad and since 2019 i've started making big files (10.000px vs 7.000px) and many layers, some files are 1GB. I've had many crashing issues in the last 4 months (with older Affinifity Photo versions, then i got tired and stopped using it) where i lost my lastest editing since it wasn't automatically saving the file on the iCloud Drive (had set it to 'Save on iCloud' and even sometimes i clicked 'save' it didn't save the file on iCloud, because after crashing i saw i lost 30min, 1h work. I've resolved it idiotically by doing 'Save a Copy' into iCloud by every major editing i did (and this with 500, 700MB files isn't ideal). So I've just deleted Affinity Photo from my Mac and iPad, also manually deleted the 'Affinity Photo' from both iCloud Drive & iPad Drive folders and also deleted the Backup Folder. Now i'm ready to start afresh and would love to hear how you deal with files and folders... specially people dealing with big files on the iPad: Where do you save your files: iPad or iCloud Drive directly? Do you use the 'Affinity Photo' folder or some external iCloud/iPad Folder? If I open a file from iCloud, anytime i click Save, will it save it over this file? or into the 'Affinity Photo' folder in the iPad or iCloud? i know it creates these folders once i've installed Affinity. How many projects/files do you have on your iPad? Once you finish an artwork, do you save it on iCloud/iPad/USB and then 'close' the file to cleanup Affinity? I've had 30+ projects open, so not sure if this was also helping to crash Affinity. thanks
  10. I've got not that big of a file (16 megapixels, 8-bit and a couple of raster layers) that after saving shockingly took 700 mb of my disk space. I copied all of it's contents in a fresh document with the same dimensions, saved it again and BAM! - 100mb. What causes this colossal difference in file size when the content is 100% the same? I've noticed this is a persistent problem with Affinity Photo. When I finish with a project, I always have to transfer all the contents in a new document before saving otherwise I'd have clogged up my disk by now. Any way to avoid this or is this a bug?
  11. Hi How can we Save and then reload a "Batch Job" ? I have a couple of different Batch Jobs that I have to do on a regular basis. It would be far easier to save the setup, than having to check all the correct boxes again. Cheers
  12. When I try to close an image hitting Ctrl+W and "close document" pops up, keyboard does NOT work - I have to point my selections with mice. Very annoying, please fix it, thanks.
  13. I bought Affinity, but I have a suggestion: Make it available on Persona Reveal Reveal (Develop) the possibility of saving the adjustments we made to the photos, as in Photoshop's CameraRaw (save file XMP). So, every time I open the same photo, I can review or modify the settings instead of having to start the adjustments from scratch as it is today. Here is the suggestion! Hugs,
  14. I just purchased and downloaded Affinity Designer last night. I attempted to open a .ai file with it, and was met with an error regarding permissions. I also tried to save an Affinity project (.afdesigner), which was met with a permissions error as well. The error reads: I am only able to read/save files in my newly created Affinity Designer iCloud storage, which is not the workflow I will be adopting. Before anyone flags this as a duplicate or writes this off, know that I have: Tried saving to/reading from multiple directories within my home directory, not limited to my Documents folder. (eg: ` ~/`, `~/Pictures`, `~/Downloads`) Used CleanMyMac3 to repair my disk permissions (multiple times) Manually reset permissions on my home folder recursively to all subdirectories and files (Right click > get info > Permissions & Sharing) Manually reset permissions on my home folder via terminal Ran First Aid via Disk Utility Restarted my computer (between each step) Cleared Affinity Designer's data by holding down Ctrl while booting Uninstalled and re-installed Affinity Designer I've read that this is related to Apple's sandboxing. Regardless, it seems insane that the program can't interface with my hard drive. My email client, writing apps, and video games downloaded from the app store can, without any issues ever. Why can't Affinity? Also, if this is an App Store issue that is reoccuring, why not make a standalone version... I'd prefer that anyway.... Double bummer because I was so thrilled to be replacing Illustrator with an allegedly superior project at the cost of only $50. Hoping someone can help me.
  15. Hello, I have tried numerous times to open a photo in Apple Photos, and then send it to Affinity Photo for editing. I can send it via contextual menu or by opening Edit in Photos and then using the " ... " for extension activation. After editing in Affinity Photo I close the editing photo and attempt to Save Changes in the Apple Photos edit extension window. The edits do not save and I get an error message. I remember this use to work. Am I doing something wrong now? I am attaching a low bit-rate video (lens correction, straightening, and cropping) showing the process and result. Hope to hear back with a fix. Photos Extension Affinity Photo fail.mp4
  16. I have at last decided to get to grips with Affinity after using DrawPlus , etc for years. My first introduction not good. In Designer I spent some time creating a new but simple effort (It included a photograph from my hard drive, some text, a graphic I created and some blocks of colour.) and then 'Saved as'. I gave a name for the document and selected a folder. I got messages asking should this and that be saved to which I answered yes. (I fancy because I let some items extend beyond the page). An icon appeared in the folder but when I tried later it would not load back in to Designer. So I created another, similar document (a bit quicker this time) and tried to save that with a new name. I got the message 'Save failed because access to the file was lost.' Yet the new icon was in the folder with its new name. But that won't open either. I'm using Windows 10 on a desk top computer and saving to an external drive. Help please.
  17. when working on a large file, as the one in the Workbook, Mother of Millions, I had to save the image down and carry on working the day after. When I came back to my image the Source Panel was empty. I'd lost all the images. I couldn't find any way to load them back in without importing every one of the 41 initial photos and clicking the Add Global Source button to bring each one back to the list. This is very time consuming and seems a little stupid really. I could find nothing in the documentation for repopulating the source panel. I tried saving history with document but that didn't help either. Is this an oversight or have I missed something? If it's not my error perhaps something needs adding to accommodate this facility?
  18. Dear Affinity Support, I've recently acquired Affinity Publisher on the Apple App Store and I am running OSX Catalina, yesterday on a deadline for applying for a job, my portfolio work was lost, since the Affinity Publisher crashed on save. Once reopened I got the recovered file but still wasn't able to save or save as. On the Force Quit window the OS Finder displayed the same app icon as Affinity as illustrated in the attached image. Therefore I restarted my computer, deleted Affinity Publisher and reinstalled. After trying to save any version of the document, even previous backups of smaller files it still wasn't able to save. Therefore I am requesting your support ASAP as my deadline ends today. Best Regards, AP
  19. I am having consistent problems with affinity designer crashing. it crashes when i load and save files. I have attached a screenshot of the error messages. I am saving and loading from internal hard drive. My files have a combination of jpeg and vectors. Please help me understand how to fix this problem. THANKS!
  20. I'm having trouble figuring out how to export a JPEG for print. The document is set to print and is 300 dpi, however, when I save, the image is 72 dpi. I don't see an option in the save settings (attached).
  21. With last version happens more and more an error when exporting or save a file on vichi I work and have save or export few minute ago. See attached file. OSx version 10.14.6 Affinity Photo error on save file.zip
  22. i have been working on this doc at work for a while now. its due. I cannot save the project. Save or save as does not work and i get this error. I need a fix asap. I tried opening another save since i always create copies and publisher closed and i lost the work i did. I left adobe because of this exact reason. Opened up document again, was able to save 2 times then the same error happened. I opened up a old save, copied ALL the pages over and still get the error. this is becoming devastating.
  23. I need clarification on how Affinity Photo saves images. My normal workflow is to import RAW images directly into the Photos App on OS for organization. From there I would like to edit images within Affinity. I understand there are 2 ways to accomplish this and there lies the confusion. I select edit in Photos App then select ‘edit in Affinity’ dialogue. The image is opened in Affinity after instructions that says close image when done and select save changes in Photos App. The edited image now replaces the original in Photos App. Is the image saved in the Photos Library? If I decide to export the image I have options for file types and location, but if I just select save or save as, where does the image get saved? When I select reveal in finder, says library>group containers>(some random folder)>intermediates. Is someone could walk me through the ins and outs of saving vs save as vs export that would be helpful. Or is there a video that explains all this. Thank you very much.
  24. I save my photos in Finder via Pathfinder. I view them in Unbound. I edit them in Affinity -- when I can. Today, I successfully chose several photos from Unbound, edited them in Affinity, and successfully saved them. Two photos -- from the same camera, from the same shooting session, and both of which showed up in Unbound just fine -- could be edited, but when I went to save them I got this : Save failed because the file could not be created. Please report this to Serif. File::OpenUnmanaged fopen E001 [errno = 2] What can be done about this? I like affinity, but I can't spend hours on a photo only to find out it won't save.
