  1. Saving my document either takes 10 seconds or 10 minutes. When it takes 10 minutes, my laptop gets extremely slow and laggy and I can barely do anything or type. In the same document, a save might take 10 seconds. Othertimes in the same document, a save might take 10 minutes or longer. On the long saves, the progress bar is empty until it starts moving and then its the normal 10 seconds (or so). Using 1.7.2. This never happened in 1.7.1 (it crashed saving sometimes and just disappeared, but when saving worked it was always 10-30 seconds, etc.)
  2. This is my first post I'm new to this forum. Ive tried and looked for hours to find out how to save all my adjustment layers to Preset(s). From my understanding you have to save each layer and label it. For example, adjusting and then saving the Vibrance as a preset and naming it. After saving each layer preset on my finished picture and labeling them, I opened up another photo, which I want to have the exact same adjustments. I clicked on all the custom layer adjustment presets I just made but the picture doesn't turn out the same in the end? Even though when I click on each preset (in the new photo that I want to look like the previous) it says its tweaked the same as the one I saved, but the photo still looks drastically different? Do all NOT adjustments transfer over? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better way to do this? (and im not talking about the background people photoshopped out, im aware of that) THANK YOU for reading this, this is so frustrating and it makes me want to switch back to Lightroom. (the picture without people is the look i want, the picture with people is what happens when i click on all the saved presets for the finished picture)
  3. I'm going to start by saying that I don't fully know if this is a Designer error, an error on OneDrive, or it's just that Files app work on a weird way. Looking forward to some clarification on this, and now onto the problem: Open an Affinity Designer file stored in OneDrive by using the Open from Cloud command, notice the document's Modified date/time Do some changes, doesn't really matter what they are, just enough to warrant a file save Save the file by using the Document > Save command, or by going into the home hub and choosing Save on the document's hamburger menu Go iOS's Files app, notice the file Modified date/time Sometimes the file will be updated and show a new Modified time/date, other times it won't update at all and will show the old time, like the file was never changed/saved If I open the OneDrive itself, or check the OneDrive folder on my desktop, I can confirm no file saves happened, so it's not just a visual glitch Closing the file within Designer and then closing the app itself sometimes triggers a file update, other times not so much... I don't really have anything else more specific to say about this issue. I can't reproduce it consistently, but it does happen very frequently. I also can't trigger the upload consistently, but closing the file & Designer works a significant amount of times. I'm using the latest stable versions of iOS 12, OneDrive and Designer, so no beta software here. Any ideas at all about what's going on?
  4. Crashes on saving the document Version: Affinity Publisher (macOS) 1.7.1(MAS), Beta 1.7.2.420 Reproducible 10/10 Open the file attached to this thread. Edit somewhere Save or Save as Crash! My environment macOS Mojave 10.14.5 MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) Intel Core i7 2.7GHz LPDDR3 2133MHz 16GB Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB and enough disk space Crash log is also attached. All (10/10) crashes happen in Kernel::OutSerialiser::SaveObjectI(Kernel::NonCounted<Kernel::Serialisable const>). Is there any workaround? Thank you in advance. PPR.afpub AP_Crash.txt
  5. Have updated to 1.7.1 this morning. I have edited a jpg and wish to save the file using layers, thus saving to native file. Same issue when exporting files. Wish to save to Photos Folder on Win10 1903 (or any other folder) Click save as, assign a file name and I get ""File not found. Check file name and try again"" I can however save the file to my Downloads Folder, but no other. I prefer to save working files to my desktop rather than a folder, but I'm not fussed if I have to use a dedicated folder. It is as if Photo is not seeing folders / folder locations other than my Downloads Folder. All other apps I am using in terms of writing, are working fine. I have not tried Designer yet. Please note this is a Windows Issue in security - turn off controlled folders and the issue is solved. (thanks for the forum)
  6. Hey everyone! I have a lot of files (right now, 128, but there will be a lot more) from Procreate that need minor editing. I would like to save all .pngs flattened and close all files at once, since at the moment, this takes just about the amount of time that I need for actual editing. It would be great if there was a way to save multiple files in the same manner (for example, flattened) and (or) close them with discarding any unsaved changes. Best wishes, Shu
  7. Hi All I am using the Mac Mojave and the photos app. When I click on a photo and edit in affinity photo , make changes in affinity photo, and then close the document, save. The save doesn't change in photos - and the photo remains the same what am I doing wrong? thanks,
  8. Hey there, I always forget to check the "Save History File with Document" after creating a new one. I understand, that not everybody wants to save the history by default, because it would make a lot of files a lot larger (I guess so?). But for others it would be nice to have a Checkbox in the (User-)Settings to get the history saved with the document by default when saving a document. Perhaps it would even be possible, to have a "per document"-exception-setting. Greetings, Johannes
  9. I just purchased and downloaded Affinity Designer last night. I attempted to open a .ai file with it, and was met with an error regarding permissions. I also tried to save an Affinity project (.afdesigner), which was met with a permissions error as well. The error reads: I am only able to read/save files in my newly created Affinity Designer iCloud storage, which is not the workflow I will be adopting. Before anyone flags this as a duplicate or writes this off, know that I have: Tried saving to/reading from multiple directories within my home directory, not limited to my Documents folder. (eg: ` ~/`, `~/Pictures`, `~/Downloads`) Used CleanMyMac3 to repair my disk permissions (multiple times) Manually reset permissions on my home folder recursively to all subdirectories and files (Right click > get info > Permissions & Sharing) Manually reset permissions on my home folder via terminal Ran First Aid via Disk Utility Restarted my computer (between each step) Cleared Affinity Designer's data by holding down Ctrl while booting Uninstalled and re-installed Affinity Designer I've read that this is related to Apple's sandboxing. Regardless, it seems insane that the program can't interface with my hard drive. My email client, writing apps, and video games downloaded from the app store can, without any issues ever. Why can't Affinity? Also, if this is an App Store issue that is reoccuring, why not make a standalone version... I'd prefer that anyway.... Double bummer because I was so thrilled to be replacing Illustrator with an allegedly superior project at the cost of only $50. Hoping someone can help me.
  10. Is it possible to save changes to afphoto/afdesin file directly in Publisher? Changes are saved to only afpub, linked documents won't be changed.
  11. System: iMac late 2015 running 10.14.5 (18F132), Affinity Photo 1.7.1. Hello, I am editing .tif files (16-bit Mac Photoshop format tiff files) in Affinity Photo 1.7.1. I've noticed that after opening the files in Affinity Photo 1.7.1 and saving changes (no layers), that the size of the file on disk is reduced by approximately 50%. The number of pixels in the files and the file bit depth doesn't appear to change, just the size of the file on disk. For example, I had a 16-bit .tif file that was 102.8 MB on disk, I opened it Affinity Photo 1.7.1, I made a levels adjustment, merged/flattened the levels layer, did a command-s to save changes, and now the file size is 43.4 MB on disk. The number of pixels is the same, and according to the info window in the Preview app, the file is still 16-bit. This is happening with every file I edit and save today, and it never occurred previously. The issue does not occur when I save edits to the same files using Adobe Photoshop CS6 on the same iMac. Is this correct behavior due to a change in Affinity Photo 1.7.1? Or is it a bug? As I mentioned above, this did not previously occur (I've been using Affinity Photo this way for months now, perhaps over a year). I attached before and after screen shots of the Info Panel for one of my files. Thank you, Michael System: iMac late 2015 running 10.14.5 (18F132), Affinity Photo 1.7.1.
  12. Hello, I was wondering if is there a way to save document profile, like in Illustrator... So, next time I create a document, I have all the toolbars organized in the way I want and symbols that I created, there, ready to use
  13. Using Affinity Designer 1.7.0.367, on Windows 10 x64 version 1809. Save As option is broken for any document I try to open and save. I have attached GIF with the recording of the error. Milan Petrovic
  14. Windows 10, Publisher 1.7.0.399 (also seen in .384) When Publisher hangs, the save on close dialog box does not work as expected and results in loss of unsaved changes. To reproduce: First, cause the program to hang: open a document or create a new one create a table or select an existing one triple-click to select the text in a filled cell paste selection in another cell (pasting the end space character breaks the table as reported by others) Second, attempt to close the program: Right-click Publisher on the taskbar and select Close Window Dialog box: "The document is about to close, would you like to save your changes? Yes, No, Cancel" - select Cancel Publisher exits to desktop instead of returning to unsaved document When Publisher is not hanging like in the steps above, the save on close dialog works as expected.
  15. Hi there, I'm working on AFD Beta 1.7.11 on MacBook Pro from 2018 with Mac OS X 10.14.4 and have to report a very serious problem with file saving: After working for some days on a larger project I saved the file (to iCloud), exported a PDF and quit working for this day. The other day upon opening the file I was prompted with a dialogue box asking if I would like to restore from a previously stored version (like after a crash). Not thinking about I clicked ok and AFD opened a version of my file which reflected the status from tow days or so before – all subsequent work was lost and couldn't be restored. I made a copy of the file leaving the original file as it was, double checked all relevant settings (i. e. restoring intervall set to 300 seconds) and started again this time working on the copy. During work I manually safed on a very regular basis every few minutes. After being ready I once again exported my work as PDF, saved and quit the app. Upon restarting the app and reopening the working copy file, once again the file didn't reflect the last saved status (the one I exported the PDF from) anymore. This time not as many parts as before where lost, but all parts done within the last two hours of work before quiting were gone. Different to the day before no prompt appeared. I haven't used the Beta again since then but went back to 1.6.1 so I can't tell if this is file specific or not. But I can definitely confirm that the file was saved over and over again manually including the last version before quit (the one I exported the PDF from). I can also confirm there wasn't a crash or forced quit before this.
  16. Hello. Can we get saveable workspaces? I use a laptop + external monitor most of the time, but not always. I need a separate panel layout for each of these situations: Laptop: unified panel layout (uncheck "separated mode") Laptop + monitor: Separated mode: Most panels arranged on laptop + context bar and artboard on external monitor. If I could save an instance of each workspace I could easily switch between depending on the situation. Hopefully this is in the works as I think this would be a feature many professionals would utilise. Thanks
  17. Dear developers, I tried Onedrive save with these steps: open a blank project save as to a OneDrive folder with a name, like testing.aphoto I get this message: Failed to save document: <Untitled> I clicked on Save As button, but no helped. Please fix this bug!

    Crash on save

I'm using build 305. I have a book layout project I'm working on – mainly text, about 20 images to date – that has been working beautifully to date. Very few problems at all. However, all of a sudden I cannot save the file without the application crashing. The problem seems to be restricted to the one file – previously saved versions and other projects are working okay. But on this one I can't even open the file, make a very minor change and save it again without a crash. I tried deleting the application and reinstalling a fresh download but the problem remains. The file is currently 29.3MB and about 200 pages (though about 60 of those are still blank), which I wouldn't have thought was huge. Would really appreciate a fix to this asap. While I know we can't rely on the beta for production projects the app has been working so well to date that I've gone a fair way with this project with the intention of using it.
  19. Sometimes I make a change and want to save to a different file while editing so I figured “Save a copy” would be what I want. The issue is, for some reason this will not allow me to save to the same folder as the original, at least not the Affinity folder on the iCloud Drive. I can select any other folder on the iCloud and the Add button shows but is greyed out on the affinity folder. I would like to keep all my files in the affinity cloud folder. I can exit the document then “duplicate” the file but that is a backwards way of doing it.
  20. Hi, as I am not a native English speaker I apologize upfront for spelling mistakes and bad grammar. Yesterday I downloaded the Beta of Publisher which is Version 1.7.0.305 for MacOS. I then placed a pdf to use some of the included elements. Now I can not save the publisher file, only export to the several options publisher has. Because I might change something in the document later on that is a bummer. I guess I am currently working on the imported pdf. Is there a way to toggle some kind of setting to save my work? As I am new to layout in general and worked with inDesign only a hand full of times before, I need your help. Currently there are two tabs in publisher, one unknown which I can save and one embedded, which I can not save and in which I (probably mistakenly) did all of my changes. The changes happen to be done in the unknown tab as well, but objects are not editable as there are only the master layer and the one layer with the pdfs name on top. I hope you can help me, big thanks in advance! Best Wishes Tobias
  21. When saving a Designer document from the ‘gallery’ screen, the dialogue that displays upon completion needs the words “for speed readers only” added. Or maybe an “OK” button, or some sort of user interaction to allow us to read what went where. It’s a bit nerve wracking to not know where your document actually went upon trying to put it away carefully. 10B72A3A-8BA2-42CA-A9DD-63503A4C934D.MP4
  22. when working on a large file, as the one in the Workbook, Mother of Millions, I had to save the image down and carry on working the day after. When I came back to my image the Source Panel was empty. I'd lost all the images. I couldn't find any way to load them back in without importing every one of the 41 initial photos and clicking the Add Global Source button to bring each one back to the list. This is very time consuming and seems a little stupid really. I could find nothing in the documentation for repopulating the source panel. I tried saving history with document but that didn't help either. Is this an oversight or have I missed something? If it's not my error perhaps something needs adding to accommodate this facility?
  23. Affinity just crashed as I was exporting. It just shut down and lost my work. Upon reopening Affinity no autosave box came up with my lost work ... any where it could be saved too? Not good at all. Very close to going back to PS. This cannot happen.
  24. Hi everyone, I´ve finished up a drawing and while trying to export it, the app suddenly shuts down. I´ve tried to save it, but the same thing happens and I have to open the app again. Basically I can´t access the piece. I thing the archive might be too heavy. What can I do? Thank you!
  25. Hi, I'm using Affinity (both Designer and Photo) while working on a network drive and I've come across the following problem: the server disconnects every once in a while. When it happens, Affinity doesn't really seem to care (no warnings whatsoever), at least not until I try to save the file. Only then I get the attached popup ("Save failed because acces to the file was lost.") and the document closes, even when the server/network drive has been reconnected. It allows me to recover the autosave when I reopen the file, however, since I'm used to hitting cmd+S right after I make some important changes, these are often lost. I think one of these solutions could help – either check if the drive was reconnected / remind to reconnect (that would be perfect), or make an additional autosave before closing the file, or at least give some warning when the connection is lost, not upon attempt to save. Thanks in advance!
