  1. Would be nice if I could replace multiple objects/layers at once. For example, replacing objects with the clipboard content or a specific selected object (like the key object in alignment.)
  2. Dear all, in Potoshop I could use 'Replace content' for a image in a layer to replace an transformed and positioned image. So new image will get same transformation and positioning as the prevoius one. Just image content is replaced. Is there any similar in Affinity photo? Explanation: I have several layers. In the bottom layer I want to replace the image with another image of same size. How can I easily replace that? This step I need multiple times. I need to replace that single image and print the document, then replace the image again and print the document and so on. Thanks...
  3. Thank you very pretty powerful search/replace feature, changing from paragraph break to line break is pretty easy. Can we add an option to limit the search to given element, instead of the whole document? I'm thinking of options: * Selection * Text element * Page * Whole document
  4. When I have to batch replace large pieces of text without a consistent way to do this using RegEx, I would like to shift click multiple instances to replace rather than clicking the replace button for each item individually. That way, I can go over the edits much quicker manually.
  5. Nice to see the new "select same" option in 1.9. I was hoping though that it would also give you the option to replace the objects selected with the current selection. That would be particularly useful for updating objects used many times in your work - e.g. Select Same, name "tree 1" replace with <current selection> could update your trees to a new version in one go.
  6. Hello folks, I have the following situation: I have opened a file that I created with Affinity Publisher on the PC with Affinity Designer on the Ipad. In this document of Affinity Publisher the images and PDF files are linked. I have collected the images and PDF documents separately in folders. Now I loaded all the files on the Ipad and wanted to continue working on the .afpub document on the go with Affinity Designer. Opening it was no problem, but the attempt to relink the images and PDF documents fails. I have not found any such function.😬 Will the function to relink files on Affinity Designer (Ipad) be possible soon? As long as Affinity Publisher for Ipad is not yet available, such a possibility would be really helpful to work on the go with .afpub files on Ipad with Affinity Designer to have a halfway decent solution in between. Either way, this feature is actually a must-have. Otherwise, kudos to the team for the new Affinity Publisher workbook. I'm reading it right now and am thrilled with the painstakingly appealing work you've done with the book. 👏
  7. Hello everybody, I searched for this topic but couldn't find it. I apologize should the question already have been asked and answered. In that case please send me a link to the topic. So, I want to format a novel with Affinity Publisher. In the manuscript there is simply used * * * as a scene break but in the pdf I want an image in its place. Always the same image I might add. Until now I've only formatted shorter stories so I simply deleted the * * * and inserted the image which I then copied and pasted. To do this with a 400+ page novel is simply too much and frankly, I can't imagine that there isn't a way to replace all * * * with an image at once. I took a closer look at the "search and replace" function but couldn't find an option to do it there so I hope to find help here. Is there a simple way to solve this problem? I'm grateful for every help!
  8. Hi, I'm very sorry for asking this question but it's been driving me insane in the last 2 days. So I have this png file of a bunch of icons, they are all black and white. I want to colorize them to make them super pretty :D Looks like this So I then: 1) flattened the doc just to be sure. There's only one, unlocked PIXEL layer 2) set the color format to RGB16 3) converted the ICC profile to RGB generic 4) selected a part of the (only) layer using the square selection tool 5) pressed the adjustement panel/button and selected "HSL" .... nothing happens. This is odd because it works just fine using a color image (I regularly change eye colors and stuff like that without any issue) So something tells me that affinity doesn't consider black to be a color, but of course if i try to pain over the black it doens't take the aliasing into account and looks terrible. I tried 'filling' the black space with a different color and that doenst replace the black either, it just paints on top (and badly so). So in a nutshell what i want is replace the black and all its gradients of grey that forms the antialiasiang to say, red with gradients of red. I hope this makes sense, again, sorry for the n00b question!
  9. Search and Replace should be disabled for protected (!) layers as default - or what means "lock"? Maybe there could be a switch to choose if search and replace should also be executed for text in protected areas, but it is very annoying if text is changed in proteced areas without an option to "protect" it really. For ex. I duplicate a layer to translate a text. Then i search and replace periodic text elements - and they are changed in protected layers too. This is annoying! Regards Ralph
  10. I have a PNG image (attached) that I need to clone the dark background area of the image over the text at the top. How do I do that? I'm sure it's dead simple but I have tried searching all types of terms and looked through the tutorials to no avail. Thanks, ACP
  11. From using and experimenting with the spelling and find-and-replace functions in Affinity Publisher 1.7.3.481, the following behaviours seem like bugs – or at the very least, strange, unhelpful, and unintuitive – to me. Am I alone in thinking this? Set-up A test file is attached; or... create a new document; make a text frame and fill it with some text (real text, not filler text). Put a few instances of the word “cat” into the text, in different places. Test 1 Go through these menu items: Text > Spelling > Show Spelling Options In the dialogue box (entitled “Spelling”), type the word “cat” (without quotes) into the upper box. Press the Find Next button. Nothing happens. Why not? If you now repeatedly click the Change button, it repeatedly inserts whatever is in the upper box, into the text This is not really a "change" operation (changing one thing into another thing). It's just a "text insert" function, with no apparent purpose, or relationship to spelling options (nor to find-and-replace). Test 2 Close the Spelling dialogue opened in Test 1. Put a few instances of the word “horse” (without quotes) into the text, in different places. Open the Find and Replace dialogue by typing Ctrl F. Type the word “horse” (without quotes) into the Find box, and “pony” (without quotes) into the Replace with box. Nothing happens, which seems strange; it would seem logical for the cursor to move to, and select, the next instance of the word “horse”, but it doesn’t – unless and until you click the Find button. When you do that, the instances of the word “horse” appear, in context, in a list beneath the Find / Replace / Replace all buttons. Now click the Replace button, repeatedly. Each found instance of the word “horse” is replaced by “pony”, but the list of found instances does not update. It continues to show, and cycle through with each click of Replace, the original list of instances of “horse”…. ….unless, or until, you click the Replace all button. Only then does the list update, by (as would be expected) disappearing completely. bugs query - affinity publisher spelling options and find and replace.afpub
  12. leaving Aperture and starting from scratch. looking for a library (similar to Aperture's) that works well with Affinity.... on Mac. Need to be able to categorize events and shoots in a similar way.
  13. Good Evening, I'm on the trial version at the moment; comparing Photoshop 2019 (subscription). I haven't found a 'replace' function in th Affinity version. Just not looking in the correct area? Wondering about the possibility of increase the font size in the User Interface. Is it adjustable? Noticed I have to reselect measurement settings in Resizing Document with each image: pixel, inches... It's crashed once so far. Perhaps, I have to many things open. Perspective Warp seems buggy. Works on a couple of images then doesn't. Have to export and reopen to make the adjustment. I'm wondering if it is after a specific sequence of operations that causes the glitch. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks
  14. I'm not sure if this is a feature on Publisher or not, but I was looking for a way to find and replace fonts in an entire document. Publisher is working great for pulling in PDFs and allowing you to edit the content. Better than anything I have used before. Currently I am able to edit manually, page by page, to change the fonts. I'm working with multiple 20+ page PDFs that need font styles and text sizes to change. InDesign has a feature called 'Find Font' that allows you to see all the fonts in the entire document and change the style/family and size. I wanted to see if this is a feature in Publisher that I can't find or if it will be implemented in the future. Even if this isn't part of Publisher it's definitely outshining InDesign right now!
  15. While the Replace button works well the Replace All button freezes the program.
  16. Hi I am not sure this is wanted.... I think its rather a bug ? When i have made an imageframe , positioned an image , in this case a pdf of a florplane inside, and i want to exchange it with new conted by drag and drop ! The new pdf file doesnt seem to remember the old settings of scale and rotation ....
  17. Hi, trying to delete (by FIND AND REPLACE with empty replace field) the soft hyphen characters within a text pasted from a MS Word document, I didn't succeed. In case of an empty replace field, the "Replace All" button is greyed out. Is there an other way to do it?
  18. I like finding and replacing function. There are many ways to search for words, formatting or styles. Unfortunately the button "Reset Format" has to be clicked twice. In the "Find Option" at "Find" and at "Replace". Would it make sense to place one "Reset Format" button on the interface?
  19. Dear developer, I used a quick style change with find in PagePlus. I find a text, click on Select all, and replace style on paragraph styles window. Now I tried same function with find. Word has founded, but in Options menu of Replace with I see only my custom style only, no other style (Heading paragraph or other).
  20. I hope this isn't mentioned elsewhere. In my work with books and other documents, I use the find and replace opine in Indesign to find all the numbers as an example and replace the font with another one. I can also save this find and replace as a preset and if you have ever tried to change the font of only numbers or change all the quotation marks to straight double quotation marks in a 150 page book, you can imagine how time saving this can be. I am very happy with this first beta, there are already things I can see loving to use in my work and look forward to hopefully ePub exports, the ability to import large texts documents that will automatically create additional pages to fit the text, packaging files for the printer and likely a ton of features I never thought about but you guys will come up with.
  21. Looking for a color replacement tool. Here's my scenario: I import pdf file vector graphics from a music notation software. Unfortunately this program is unsuccessful in exporting cmyk-colors which are absolutely needed for print. With Indesign I could search through the whole document including all linked PDFs and replace any specific rgb-color with a cmyk-color. I'm totally not a fan of the subscription model of Adobe, so this feature would make me switch to Affinity Publisher. I'm already using Designer and Photo since Day 1. Replacement presets would be killer. Any chance that's a future feature?
  22. Where is the Find and Replace (text) function? Publisher help says there is one and that you find it under 'Find' in the Text menu. But I can't see it. Louismac
  23. Publisher has a find and replace facility. But it will not do what I want/need to do Basically I want to insert a Zapf Dingbats symbol into text using a different font. And I can't In adobe Indesign, which I would like to get away from, I can choose to use whatever is on the clipboard .e.g. a red coloured diamond symbol using Zapf dingbats, into a text string, in say Helvetica Nue For me this is a critical feature.
  24. Not sure if this has been requested yet, but.. I would like to see the Resource Manager available as a panel similar to the Links panel in InDesign, as well as being able to assign hotkeys to Resource Manager buttons like Replace (Relink) and Locate.
  25. I am really impressed with Photo on iPad Pro, BUT, my workflow is strongly based on placing and replacing images. I can't find the context bar button – a to-come feature? Or am I missing it? Can't find any other users with this problem, so I suspect it's some place that I haven't located it.... Otherwise, it's going to get me buying an iPad Pro....
