  1. I need clarification on how Affinity Photo saves images. My normal workflow is to import RAW images directly into the Photos App on OS for organization. From there I would like to edit images within Affinity. I understand there are 2 ways to accomplish this and there lies the confusion. I select edit in Photos App then select ‘edit in Affinity’ dialogue. The image is opened in Affinity after instructions that says close image when done and select save changes in Photos App. The edited image now replaces the original in Photos App. Is the image saved in the Photos Library? If I decide to export the image I have options for file types and location, but if I just select save or save as, where does the image get saved? When I select reveal in finder, says library>group containers>(some random folder)>intermediates. Is someone could walk me through the ins and outs of saving vs save as vs export that would be helpful. Or is there a video that explains all this. Thank you very much.
  2. I am attempt to figure out how to "edit" a photo from Apple Photos with Affinity Photo and then send it back to Photos. All the tutorials seem to have old version of Photos with "extentions" button, which is no longer on my version of Photos. - Very strange and upsetting. I can edit the image - now i want send it back!!! Please advise!
  3. I use quite an exotic language on my devices - Polish - which belongs to the quite large group of languages unsupported by Affinity. That wouldn’t actually be a problem for me if not the auto-correction feature - which is not synchronized with the system-wide auto-correction, because my system language is Polish and when using text tools Affinity always mark all my Polish words as wrong . And again that wouldn’t be a problem (until I do some orthographic mistake) because auto-correction can be easily switched off in text tool settings (Check spelling while typing) but the problem is: if I turn it off in one document, it reverts back on when I close the document and enter it, or any other again. So the result is: always when I enter a document with text I’m welcomed by unfriendly red squiggly (unless I design something English) I tried using both “English” and “Default” setting in language option in Designer’s settings. 4. hi, very new to affinity, im making a document for work, and I wanted to test the print by exporting it as a pdf, however all the images are coming out super pixelated. please help! all images are linked.
  5. As a new, and very happy, convert to Affinity from the Creative Cloud I have a question!! Leaving Lightroom CC I have now lost a viewer for all my photos from whatever source. In Lr these are hosted in the Cloud and easily viewed and shared without having to have an enormous hard-drive! Having moved to Affinity I needed somewhere to 'hold' the photos from where they could be viewed and shared. I chose Apple Photos and all is fine; all photos from my phone go there automatically and I can import RAW files directly form my camera. Photos also holds the originals in the Cloud when space is at a premium. If I right click on one of these RAW files in Photos, and select Edit in Affinity, the photo opens in the Photos Persona and not in the Develop Persona. I have to then click on Develop Persona to edit the RAW file. Is this an expected behaviour when using Photos and do I lose anything in the image editing by having to select the Develop Persona? As an aside, has anyone got a suggestion for storage other than Photos? Peter H
  6. There is no "Affinity Photo extension" in "Photos". I bought it for iPad yesterday and I am so disappointed not to see it in Photos. Is it expected to implement this extension as it existe in the Mac desktop version of Affinity ? In the present state I will never use this software. Affinity needs to have the same tools on mobile and desktop application. I plan to buy the Mac desktop version when this specific point, often asked by users, will be improved.
  7. HI there, One feature Photoshop has which I really miss in Affinity Photo is the ability to extract the images from a PDF. Often clients supply a PDF, which contains images that you might want to use without the text over the top, or cropped differently. If you could import the original image, it will be more usable in other projects. Thanks Andy
  8. I started working with dropping photos into frames this week and ran into problems. Previously with some of the betas this worked but I noticed two issues with the MAS version. 1. When I try to select the slider Publisher won't let me grab it and disappears before I do so. 2. The slider will be located far off from the image. With some of the betas it was neatly positioned under the photo. Now there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it's position. I just end up using the preset framing positions located under the right click menu. At least this gives me some control but, or course, I can't be exact.
  9. First of all, many thanks to Serif for Affinity Publisher. You did a great job and I love the software. However, I miss two features that are enormously important and prevent me from saying goodbye to InDesign: On the one hand, I do not have the "Data Merge" function that many users often want. I do not need to go into that. On the other hand (and this is really annoying), the function "Split Spread" is missing in the "Pages" panel. But this is very important if you want to place borderless or full-page photos. An example: Almost every professional printing company requires a 3mm bleed around each side. If I place a photo on the full page, the bleed of the photo on the opposite side appears during export. (see photo) In InDesign this is solved so that you can split individual double pages and then placed on the split page the photo with bleed. (see photo) That makes no problems in the export. A smaller feature that is missing is that you cannot export the bleed mark but only the cut mark when exporting. But I think I can live with that for now. (I hope my printers too)
  10. Hi All I am using the Mac Mojave and the photos app. When I click on a photo and edit in affinity photo , make changes in affinity photo, and then close the document, save. The save doesn't change in photos - and the photo remains the same what am I doing wrong? thanks,
  11. Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I have searched to no avail. Does Affinity Photo for iPad have an Apple Photos extension enabling editing in Photo directly from Apple Photos? Thanks for your time.
  12. Is it correct that only a photo imported to a document using the Place Image Tool can then have transparency applied to it using the Transparency Tool? If I draw a picture frame then place a photo, when I try to apply transparency, the slider appears in the photo but has no affect, which seems odd.
  13. Hey guys! I am new to the affinity scene and just wondering if I can add a logo or photo behind something or someone? thanks :)
  14. With the update to iOS 11, images synchronised from iOS devices to a Mac are in HEIC file format. When I attempt to open these images using Affinity Photo from within Apple Photos the application/extension reports "The file type is not supported." Opening a file from Photos in the Affinity Photo standalone app is not affected as the export process changes the file to a suitable type.
  15. I downloaded your wonderful app yesterday, and am going through the tutorials, but every time I try to export some work to the photo library, the app crashes. Using ipad 2nd gen 1TB;
  16. Hi, I have an issue regarding opening photos from the apple photos app on my computer. When I go to "Open" and select the "photos" section not all the photos show up that are in my folders in that app. 've attached a photo for reference. There should be other photos included in this view but they don't show up. Why is that? Alternatively, why can't I drag and drop them into the "place images" boxes? Thanks for your help with this, Carollyne
  17. On iPad, in Affinity Photo (AP), I try to import from Photos. That works fine, but the browsing is difficult due to two issues: 1) When opening the import dialog, I see my photos folders. However, they appear unordered, see the enclosed image which is part of the dialog within AP. The folders go like 2007-01-07 2015-07-26, 2013-08-17, 2014-06-28, 2006-11-11-b, etc. I have hundreds of those. Is there a way of sorting them correctly after name? (And hence after date). 2) When selecting a folder, I see the images, but only as small icons about 3x3 cm. Any attempt to view the actual image, results in it being imported. Is there a way to preview the images without opening/importing them? For example like the standard photo browser in the iPad Photos app? Regards, Hans
  18. Good day all, I just downloaded Affinity Photo for Mac OS. All the extensions are available and work in the drop down within Photos app EXCEPT the option to open in the Affinity Photo main App (not extension). I get dialog that says 'Affinity photo cannot be launched, please press cancel' Anyone else experience this and have a fix? Thank you. Mugs
  19. Hi, In APub, I've created a document for printing (cmyk, Fogra, etc., see scs). 1. I've selected a few colours for my document (global or not) and I would like to be sure that they are fine for printing in cmyk. How can I check ? (I did not use Adobe apps for a while now but I seem to remember that they (Illustrator and/or InD) are alerting when the colour could not not be printed as such and even proposed a close "cmyk-compatible" colour) 2. I am exporting photos from APhoto in cmyk; I suppose that I simply have to insert these in APub... ? Thanks for your help/advice. Cheers, Patrick
  20. Hello, Since the application Photos, I imported the photo but it is reversed (see picture 1 and 2). There is a bug problem. Thank you. Best regards.
  21. Hi, 1. Create multiple picture frames. 2. Select all the picture frames. 3. Place a single photo (same photo) in all the frames. The photo in the first picture frame is in the right proportion, whereas the same photo in the other frames is distorted. Regards, Vijay
  22. Hello, is it possible to automatically align layers or photos? For example if I have 3 photos with 3 different exposures which I shot handhold, so the photos differ slightly. Is there a way to align the photos? There doesn't seem to be the possibility to make an HDR, will it be implemented in the future?
  23. Import from ICloud or Open from iCloud doesn’t recognize my photos in iCloud. Says I have zero items. Apple tech said its the App not them. Please help. I’ve spent so many hours trying to fix, spent time with super yappy tech person at Apple all to find out, that their end checks out, but yours doesn’t.
  24. When trying to save image to Photos by export and sharing in Affinity Designer the app crashes every time and no export occurs. I have to save to iCloud Drive to get the image out of Designer. I’m using a 10.5 inch iPad Pro. I’ve already tried rebooting iPad and closing and restarting the app. Thanks for any help.
  25. As Adobe has decided to make the import screen in Lightroom suitable for Instagram users, I have concerns wether Lightroom should be replaced in the future. Adobe makes this concerns even bigger by publishing buggy apps too early which ruin lives of professionals. Last year, Serif came out with this Affinity-suite and I have high hopes that they will release a Lightroom alternative. I am serious about that, since Capture One, well, does not work for me. But if you do, make sure that people can transfer 100k photos with any adjustments non-destructively. I don't know if you have plans for this, or if you have resources for this. But if you have, well, I would be the first to buy. Adobe is going for Instagram users with all their iOS-photoshop-mix-fix crap, which is not what professionals want. I know that one day, I will enjoy Affinity Designer on my iPad without compromises. And I hope you guys could rescue the professional photography business. I know this post has not the right spot in the forum, since everything is about Designer or Photo. But I just want to post this to see wether this could be the future of photography. Any name suggestions for a Lightroom alternative?
