  1. Hi all, I would like to give my opinion on how I see the market. So considering Adobe does not have interest in the Linux market, you guys could at least take the opportunity and make a version of Affinity Photo for Linux, which would be a really nice alternative to Photoshop. I've tested and looked at a few Photoshop for Linux (mainly open source ones), but unfortunately none of them really stand that well. I've been using Photoshop since 2007 while I was in college, and I still use it at work, so it is really challenge to find out one to use at home that functionality wise, shortcuts, and everything fits to my pace. Best regards, Antonio Neto.
  2. I came across a tutorial for reducing 5 o'clock shadow or stubble from a photo. Can anyone help me accomplish the same thing in Affinity Photo? In particular, there's a step in this Adobe Photoshop tutorial (link below) where a "pattern" is created, and then the Healing Brush makes use of this pattern to effectively reduce the stubble. I'm not sure there is such a feature in Affinity Photo for creating a pattern that would be usable by the Healing tools. Or..... as often seems to happen inside Affinity Photo, maybe there's a better way than the Adobe approach. Thanks for any good input anyone can provide. *** Photoshop tutorial: Reducing 5 O’Clock Shadow And Beard Stubble In Photoshop ***
  3. I research software as Apple Photos on windows. Sotfware to import pictures from a smartphone or camera, to organize the pictures libraries, and get a preview of the geolocalization of all the pictures on a map. A mix between Apple Photos, Lightroom, Bridge. Whitout subcribe to a cloud offer. I don't know if this type of sotfware exist? I don't know how make the photographer on windows? But this kind of software with a nice UI, could be useful for many peoples, and make a good combination with affinity photo.
  4. Hello, just want to do that: 1- Drawing a path 2 - Clicking (or right click, what i have expected) the path 3 - Create pixel selection from this path Any idea? Thanks
  5. Would love to be able to adjust where to place the center of my vignette, using the Live Vignette filter. Often the area to emphasized is not in the center of the image.

  7. Apologies if this has already been referenced, but I was not able to find any relevant posts... As a user of both Designer and Photo (Win + Mac), I often find myself looking for identical "resources" in each respective program. I'm referring to custom palettes, styles, brushes, etc. I know the Affinity programs allow for importing these resources application-wide OR per-document, but I can't help imagining how nice it would be to have just one central resource repository, that either program could recognize by default, and pre-load those resources that can be used in both programs rather than jumping back to app A > exporting > jump to app B > importing, etc. If there's a current workaround that anyone is using to achieve such behavior, I'd love to hear your suggestions. Cheers! K
  8. Hello, I am wondering if there is any way to pan the canvas with my finger. I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 4, which has a touch screen. I am fluent in Phase One Capture One. Within Capture One you can pan the canvas with your finger. This is a quick and natural gesture, it does not matter what tool is selected and does not require any modification key presses. For clarification, the finger is for panning and the pen or mouse is used for brushing. Does Affinity Photo for Windows 10 offer this feature as I've explained? If not, is there any way I can set it up to do so, or any way I can offer this suggestion to the developers? Thanks.
  9. I have a photo that I am trying to do three things to: Crop an advertising poster out Fix the extreme perspective skew Fill in the missing part of one corner I know that AP can do all of these things, but I cannot seem to get past step 1. I did succeed in the first step using the selection brush. I know that the perspective tool is supposed to help in the second step, but I must be doing something wrong. The project file is attached; I hope someone can help. Thanks! Sign up.afphoto
  10. Hi, everybody, first, I want to thank everybody at Affinity for their awesome work. I’m loving my Affinity Photo for iPad, especially when I’m on the go. The biggest thing I’m missing, however, are keyboard shortcuts. Especially these: Cmd, Shift, Alt and Ctrl for manipulating with objects. For example, really often I want to resize object from center holding Cmd key and I’m not able to do that. 10x faster move with Shift+Arrows Shortcuts for (Un)Grouping and other basic stuff Shortcuts to show/hide guides and grid Since many people use their iPad Pros with Smart Keyboard, it would be really nice to have this option. Are there any plans to implement shortcuts in future releases? Thank you.
  11. Hi, I’m trying to use some macros that I’ve created in AP but when I launch them from library window, it won’t start until I click on the macro several times, but the problem is that then AP applies 2 or 3 times the macro. It doesnt matter if the background layer is selected or not. Also tried with beta of AP but same issue is still present. The only way to make macros work is right click, select “edit macro” and then play it from macro window. Then it works. No matter the complexity of the macro, all custom macros have the same issue. Finally I’ve noticed that free macros pack from Affinity, doesn’t habe that issue. I was wondering if it’s my fault while recording a macro, but after looking tutorials and reading a lot of information I can’t figure out why is it happening. Hope anyone knows a solution. Thanks! PS: Using with MacBook Pro 13” late 2011 and iMac 27” late 2011 with High Sierra installed.

  13. I have an Affinity Photo document with many dozens of layers. I frequently need to export one of the layers individually to a PNG (hiding all of the other layers/content in the document). I've found this very difficult to do, as I can't currently find shortcuts to either: a) hide all layers except the selected one or b) directly export a single selected layer Also, I need layer effects of the parent group(s) to still be applied. Which means doing something like copying the layer and then choosing New from Clipboard and then exporting won't work well for my purposes. Perhaps I'm overlooking something obvious? Can anyone offer suggestions on the easiest way to do this?
  14. Simple request would be that the rasterise feature actually acknowledge the bleed associated to the document. Currently it takes the trim size but for print related work it would be far more functional to be able to place elements into the bleed and then when rasterising have the finished article have the bleed included. All the best, Mark
  15. Using 1.6.4.104, Windows10, Epson SureColor P800, Xrite 1iDisplay calibrated 4k monitor I'm seeing very strange color shifts and a much lighter image printing using the app for color management. I'm choosing the correct Epson provided profile. When I let the printer control color it is fine. Is this a known issue? Any workarounds?

    Slow Tonemapping

Greetings! I love the power and control that using the Tonemapping persona provides with single image editing. But I'm concerned that it is so slow to go into the persona that it hinders my workflow. Once it gets into the module it moves quickly but it lags again horribly when applying the change. I'm using 1.6.4.104 The files I'm using are from a Canon 5DSR, and I go to 32bit Adobe RGB straight from the raw engine. The System is an i7 8700k 3.7-4.5GHz CPU with 16GB 3200 speed DDR4 RAM. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB GDDR5X GPU . Running windows 10pro. The performance monitor shows it is spinning at 16% (1 core 4.5GHz) and not using any disk. Are there plans to improve the parallelism and overall performance of this wonderful feature? Thanks!
  17. I have purchased both Affinity Photo and Designer for use on my iMac and PowerBook computers. Unfortunately my PowerBook has ceased to work ( after 10 years) and I have now got a new laptop but it runs Windows 10. I have been to my Downloads and Keys page but I can’t find either of the he applications there, only the free extra items which were on offer at time of purchase. I would obviously like to continue running Photo and Designer on my new computer but as I have just bought a new computer I do not have funds to buy the software again just to use on Windows. Please advise.
  18. The Affinity apps (Betas as well) keep crashing when I try to launch them. Reinstalation doesn't help. Comunicate says "An Unhandled Exception has occurred and the application cannot continue. The Crash Reporter will be displayed after the application exits. Reference: 04e7ea36-e33f-4e47-8cbf-dbe4ce9928bb But every time i try to open the app again, reference changes. Here are a few examples (for Photo): Reference: be65d1a5-d945-4980-89ae-8ac34ff2c1ce Reference: 8d18b674-e518-44fe-83eb-ced633e2edad Reference: 458ef731-9fee-4521-8303-bfe4335b73d3 Solutions suggested on other similar forum topics don't work for me. I would appreciate your help.
  19. I thought I'd best work my way through all of the examples in the book to make sure I don't miss anything! In Chapter 2 under "Tonally adjusting a raw image", step 3 is to "Drag the highlights slider to the left to recover some of the clipped tones." Now I understand how highlights can be clipped, but looking at the histogram and the photo I don't see any clipping. Is there somewhere else I should be checking to know that I need to worry about clipped tones?
  20. How do you change the User Interface font size in Affinity Photo (1.5.0.45) on Windows? According to the help file, the option should be in Edit > Preferences > User Interface > Font UI Size, but it appears to be missing?
  21. Hi. Recently i'm having issues saving on both Designer and Photo. Working over a NAS server on AFP, each time I try to save changes on an existing document for fisr time, I get an error: Couldn't be saved because lost connection to file, file must be closed (Sorry, message in Spanish. This is a rough translation by me) Issue is, files are there, I can re-open them from recent files, and is permanently available on finder. There is no disconnection from server. If I re-open from open recents… the file opens and tries to recover itself, and normally it works and save fine from there. So the fail occurs on first saving after opening the file. Once you get the first save, you can work for hours without issues. Issue happens with any file, randomly, in both apps. Always on first saving. This is happens since a couple of weeks ago. If I create a new document and save it, works well. Is always with existing documents. Designer 1.6.1 Photo 1.6.7 MacOS 10.13.4 Files on NAS over 1 GB ethernet through AFP protocol (Synology DSM 6.1.6-15266 Update 1) If you need further details, feel free to ask. Have a nice day.
  22. Hi, lets put the things this way: We create new folders (and additional, if needed) for every new customer. In these folders we put every vector, bitmap files we need for the current job. When we open the main file, all other used files from the subfolders are loaded into that file. So, could it be done the fonts, we put in the main folder, to be temporarily instaled and loaded while we work on our design?
  23. Ehy guys, yesterday I needed and probably will need in the future the ability to rotate RAW images in develop persona since Windows itself isn't able to do it. Rotating via the crop tool context toolbar is very difficult so it'd be nice to have the facility I've written above.
  24. I opened Serif Affinity Photo which has just added support for FilterForge in the latest update. I opened a 10Mb jpeg photo and then attempted to access FilterForge via the Filters menu. I immediately received this exception error (the following is the detailed log which was generated by FF. I've highlighted the line that was the main reason for the error). This may be a fault in FF but when I opened FF as a standalone and then opened the same file , it worked perfectly. 25. I am trying to upload some newly purchased Luts into my Affinity photo software but for the life of me I can not find the folder for the pre-existing luts with the program to add on to them. I've searched every folder relating to the program on my computer but there is nothing there that dictates the pre-existing luts so I can add more to them. I.e. presets. Let me know if I'm searching in all the wrong places or if affinity is just that unorganized with their files and felt like sending people on great journeys.
