  1. Right now, we can only apply a fill to a text box in the character/ text styles. Or a fill + stroke in the text frame studio in Publisher (this should also be available in Designer and Photo for text graphics!). I would love to see additional features to control the text box styling. Changing the size of the textbox dynamically with a top/bottom/left/right offset, a top/bottom/left/right stroke (or multiple strokes for double lines) rounding the frame that is used for artistic text, etc. It is very handy if you have more granular control, so you can create more sophisticated styles that are applied dynamically. Saves a lot of manual editing work.
  2. I'm having difficulty with text wrap. I'm using a rectangle that expands as a header and "pushes" the content of the main box away by a set distance. However despite having no style sheets using baseline grid, no baseline grid set and Ignore baseline grid selected I cannot get the offset to match my chosen distance. What happens is the text moves away relative to the leading of the text regardless. Pushing the offset up and up nothing will move until the next full line of leading value is exceeded, and will then jump. If you look at the two sample files you will see the difference Affinity orange header boxes has only 2 outcomes, InDesign file (Green headers) Outcome I was after is that of the InDesign file with the text beneath being exactly as the wrap is set – is this a bug or chosen way of working? has incremental increases.
  3. Is there a way to offset the path of an object (to create a new path / object that isn't just a scale of the first object)? Please see attached: Thanks!
  4. I am trying to print various images / photo's from Affinity Photo using a Canon Pro 1000 printer and for some strange reason all attempts have resulted in the image displaced e.g. not centred. The margins are all set up & look good & even in soft proofing but the A2 printed image is offset to one side (rt.) approx. 2→5mm in both portrait & landscape. When editing / printing using the Canon software then the photos don't have this issue. I've noticed other posts on here that have similar issues but I've not discovered a solution. If anyone is able to advise me as to what is amiss that would be great as not being able to produce a correctly positioned photo kind of defeats the whole purpose of my purchase.
  5. The stroke on text with particular font will be shifted when printing. I can send the font(it's a paid font so I can not upload here directly) as sample.
  6. Please, add an option to offset inner and outer glow in Layer FX, similar to the offset in inner and outer shadow effects.
  7. I am new to Affinity Photo and like it a lot. I have been looking for a function I cannot find. Does Affinity Photo have a function similar to Photoshop's Offset? I am working with 360 by 180 degree equirectangular images, and I would like to move them right or left to put put a particular feature in the center. The offset function moves the image to the right, for example, and wraps it to the left side. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Ron
  8. I would love to see a contour / offset option. On some shapes you can make a smaller version of the same (see rectangle) for an offset outline, but for the letter R, and other shapes, making a scaled down version would not work. (let me know if I am missing this option)
  9. Will Affinity Designer desktop ever have bitmap trace and offset functionality?
  10. I have a very very big and annoying issue with Affinity Designer when im using appearence (Expand Stroke) feature !!! Its keep completely freezing up and pop out Affinity Designer stop responding on my macbook everytime im trying to make a offset "ouline" or multiple its freeze up and pop put non responding etc... Does any of you experiment this issue ?
  11. Hi, I want to make a repeating pattern and saw a Photoshop tutorial ( https://binged.it/2tZ6SDb ) where they used an offset function to do this. I've tried searching for something similar in Affinity Designer but cannot seem to find an equivalent? Is there something I've missed? istring
  12. In both photo and designer my brush tool is offset to the right. In other words, I will draw at x, y, and the line shows up at x+z, y. iPad Pro, 12 in. It happens with all brushes. It only happens in landscape, not in portrait. Doesn’t happen in procreate or notes. What can be done to fix this?
  13. Is the expand stroke supposed to be used to get an offset, or contour? Maybe I am doing something wrong....
  14. I use Designer 1.6.1 (on Mac OS X Yosemite), italian language. Offset/Inset feature would be very nice. A feature allowing to see the name of the brush applied, when i select an object, would be very nice. THX
  15. Until just last night, I knew nothing about Affinity Designer. But because I was forced to find a substantially cheaper alternative for Illustrator for the time being, I'm glad to have found this app. Even though I can see right off the bat how many features aren't included that I'm used to in Illustrator, I see how the workflow is way more intuitive, and just consolidated in how you perform operations (Layer masks just like Photoshop. But like...with Vectors. WOW. Whoda thunk? Adjustments to the stroke thick/thin with that beautiful pressure tool. SAY WHAT? Where've you been all my life?) However, here are the three things I need to know how to do straight in Affinity. I realize I may need to jump back and forth in my clunk older copy of Illustrator to do a few things. But hopefully I'm just over looking things. How do you do offset a path? I know there's a stroke feature. Which is and isn't quite the same, but I can achieve similar things for the basic outside offset. However, I need to know how to do inner path offsets (you know, when you set the offset to a negative number, and it shrinks). I'm assuming it's called something else if you have this feature. I keep reading conflicting stuff online (that seems a little out of date as well) Is there a way to do the Envelope warp with objects in Affinity? Basically, I just want to know if I can arch my text like in Illustrator. I don't need the wacky bulges and crap like that. I just need to do arches and flag raises. Is there a shape blend tool or a process to create shape blends? A bonus one would be if I can create pattern brushes like in Illustrator, but that's a "meh" The fact that you can draw like a real art program means I wouldn't need pattern brushes as much. Anyway, I'm still using the trial. Is the paid version different?
  16. I've just been trying too get an offset of a path (dieline off a shape that's a few mm larger than the shape) and using the stroke-> expand stroke work around isn't great as extra nodes get added over the top of nodes creating issues with strange bumps and lumps and gets worse when trying to remove the extra nodes which then throws out the whole path shape. Can we or is there coming an "offset path" option coming such as there is in Illustrator? and a corresponding tidying of the nodes? And while I am here, will it be possible to reflect a shape around a moveable point as one can do with rotate? Using symbols to reflect about a particular origin seems to be an un-necessary amount of work to achieve something that should take a few seconds? Are either of those features set in the pipeline? Cheers
  17. Hi Affinity team, Im really liking the customisability of the grid systems. The only thing that I feel is missing is the ability to offset the grid, hopefully I just havent found the feature yet. Sometimes its important that the grid aligns with the middle of the document instead of the top left. :D Hopefully you understand what I mean, if not, i'll try upload an image. Cheers,
  18. This would be quite useful, especially for tiling textures for example.
  19. Hope someone can help me. Attached is the outline drawing of the side of a bar-top arcade game cabinet I'm making. I used this to cut the sides. I want to get some artwork printed on self-adhesive vinyl and need to make a version of this object that is 5mm bigger all round than this to allow for the bleed. Is there a simple way to create this in Designer? I understand there's no offset tool like in Illustrator (or Sketch Up). Any pointers gratefully received. I'm using 1.5.2 on a Mac, if that's any help. Thanx.Side Art v1.0.afdesign
  20. What exactly is Offsetting? How do I offset a text character using Affinity Designer?
  21. We achieved accurate colors in offset (Ryobi 522) with ISO Coated v2 (ECI) color profile. How I can use it in Affinity?
  22. Hi, first of all thank you for this great software, recently I stated using it to draw websites mockups and I love it. The biggest problem in designing websites I perceived is the lack of an appropriate gird system: now i'm using guides, but I have to place all my artboards one below the other due to the artboard context guides bug (If i duplicate the artboard and move it to the right, the guides stand still and go off canvas, not be rebased on the new context). The integrated grid system would be great and really suitable for webdesign needs (thanks to his gutter feature), but the problem is that it always starts from (0,0), but often a website needs the grid in the centered wrapper. It could be possible to implement the feature to offsetting the starting point of the grid? With this feature, for exemple for an artboard of 1366px and a centered wrapper of 960px, i could simply calculate the width of every column and gutter and then set the starting point at (1366px - 960px) / 2 = 203px. In the case you can't or won't implement this solution, there could be another solutions to simplify webdesigners life and make Affinity Designer a perfect tool for drawing websites: - Implement the "Convert Object to Guide" feature, like inkscape - Implement a "guide presets" feature, so everyone could create his presets and apply them any time thay need Thank you very much for your attention :)
  23. Offsetting paths. Currently I've resorted to expanding the stroke, but the trouble of having to manually having to delete the inner nodes (especially on more complex shapes) can take up a lot of time.
  24. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I will attach it here so that you can check. I have a strange off by one pixel but only at a specific line of my screen. But it still exists after closing AD (1.5.0.5) and reopen the specific file so I hope it is reproducible. Additionally I made a very small video that shows the effect. 25. Hey guys, check out this nice interface for the Offset Path command in Autodesk's Fusion 360. I think something like this might be great for AD's command as well, similar to the current implementation of the Corner Tool UI
