  1. Hello, everybody, I'm new to graphic design. I've been using Affinity Designer V1 for a couple of years now only for a special project, and have more or less figured out enough of AD on my MacBook to be able to do what I am trying to do with my project. I use the vector persona exclusively. So today when I went to open the app I found that every single file I've created is blank. I can see in the Layers panel that all my content is still there but nothing is showing up on the canvas, aside from those thin blue outlines showing the selected vector curve. I seem to remember that yesterday when I was using the program my laptop battery may have run down before I could close the program properly, and I'm wondering if now the app software is corrupted. If so I guess I would have to reinstall V1 or upgrade to V2, but I thought I would check here first in case it's merely a matter of some setting. I've tried opening AD files that were not open when the computer powered down, they are the same (blank canvas). I tried opening AD files I had previously saved onto a thumb drive, and they also have nothing but invisible content in them. I tried restarting AD, no change. I tried restarting my computer, no change. I've looked at the Dark/Light mode and that seems to have nothing to do with it. I've looked closely at the Swatches and Stroke panels and verified that the Stroke width is greater than zero, and has color applied. I can make changes to the Stroke and see the changes show up in the thumbnails of the Layers panel but not on the canvas. Of course then there are the Art Boards which seem to be missing. I've tried adding an Art Board to the canvas and just like the vectors, I can see the outline and it shows up in the Layers panel but I cannot make them visible. I've tried creating a new file and it does the same. Any suggestions?
  2. I would really like the ability to change the mode of the Pen Tool via the keyboard. I was switching between curves, lines and polygons today, and having to jump up to the toolbar every time was driving me nuts! Thanks
  3. Hello, I have had a look through the forum and did not find a topic about this or I may of missed it. I have a HP Spectre x360 and would like too know how to set up affinity designer for use in tablet mode as the keyboard when in tablet mode is on the underside of the screen so things link holding ctrl or shift are a problem, is their a way of setting up on screen keys without opening the onscreen keyboard as this blocks a large section of the screen making it unusable. Thank you for any help and suggestions. Regards Chris
  4. Hello, I can not find a Bitmap mode in 1-bit Photo Affinity off I need to process files that keeps strictly their mode and their resolution. This is copydot files and it is important that it be treated as such. It is provided a 1-bit Mode? If that were the case , it might be interesting to have a true improvement over Photoshop that generates moiré patterns when you want the resample . (This messages was à Google Translate). Clyde
  5. I've brought this up a few times on the forums, but (and I'm getting desperate here) pleeeease add Dissolve to the Blend Modes list for layers and brushes - pretty pretty please! The tedious workarounds to achieve this effect simply aren't the same, and not nearly as effective. Dissolve is the easiest way to turn any, otherwise normal, brush into an amazing textural experience, and was one of the most used features for me in Photoshop. Dissolve played such a big role in my work that I've had to adapt my style completely after switching to Affinity, and I miss it dearly. I even took the time to record this little screen recording I'm working on to show why it works so well in Photoshop (just watch at 2x speed to save time): https://youtu.be/pywfxxuXaCc All I used in the video was a plain old, run-of-the-mill soft/feathered brush, but with Dissolve set as the blend mode. As you can see, it instantly becomes a magnificent texturing machine which has SO many practical applications, especially in creating digital illustrations. I've also seen it used excessively by some really big names in the creative industry, such as Matt Taylor (http://www.matttaylor.co.uk) and Studio Muti (https://studiomuti.co.za), just to name two heavy-hitters. I can't imagine it being very difficult to add another blend mode to the list, and I've been checking for new beta's daily hoping that dissolve made the list of added features. Please add it, for me, for others, and even for this poor, misunderstood zombie dude who would have been lacking a lot of gritty shading if I had painted him in Affinity without dissolve.
  6. When using a raster brush that has 'wet edges' enabled, it often automatically disables the wet edges when you switch to another tool (like the eraser) and then back to the brush again. It's not a big issue, but it would be really great if the brushes retained the wet edges setting to save the hassle of manually checking it again after using another tool. For some reason this doesn't always happen, but I thought it might be worth mentioning as a lot of the more 'intricate' custom brushes use wet edges for textures and effects. Similarly, and I appologise as I've mentioned this before, it would be awesome to have a dissolve blend mode for brushes and layers as it's incredibly useful for creating gritty textures and bitmap effects - it's also especially useful for setting work up for screen printing as the dissolve blend mode removes all anti-aliasing. I know there are workarounds for this, but the dissolve blend mode is a small addition to the blend modes list that would completely remove the need to spend time finding different ways of achieving a similar effect. I've seen it mentioned a few times in the forums, so hopefully it will be considered.
  7. Is there any possibility in Affinity Photo 1.7.1 with the Selection Brush Tool to change the Mode Add or Substract by shortcut? Maybe someone can help me …
  8. Hi to everyone, I just have a quick question/tip. Can we expect option to import of PDF/EPS (general vector files), as raster "Photoshop Import PDF" style? I do a lot of sign making, digital printing, car wrapping, and I receive files that just need to be rasterised before going into production (CREO, VersaWorks, Raster Link Pro) (font, shadows, transparencies, messy CMYK/RGB files, gradients... and so on). So this option would be awesome step of replacing my CS3 :) Thanks. p.s. eps export that works with older programs (Illustrator 10 compatibility) would be good for industry users. btw in my whole life I didn't see cleaner eps file... like hand written :)
  9. I need some clarification on color modes available in Photo. Namely the RGB/16, is it integer or float and if float then how can I input colors below 0 or above 1? And then there is RGB/32 HDR, is it integer or float, and if float, how can I input colors below 0 and above 1? Also are these modes linear or gamma corrected? Another thing is the export to Open EXR (when I choose More... options). I can choose from 16 bit half and 32 bit float, what is 16 bit half, is it integer or float? One more thing: I have some HDR and EXR files, which I'm certain contain values above 1 (32-bit float), but Photo shows them as 1 (ie. 255 in each RGB channel in the Info panel). How to show the true value, if it's above 1 or below 0?
  10. Is that one new? I never noticed it before. THATS a thing i've been waiting for since my first use of AP. Thanks for implementing this!
  11. Hey everyone! It would be very helpful if, when using tools, all of the UI, except for the icon on the top right that lets users enable the UI again, could be automatically hidden. There could be a timer, which shows the UI again after a period of time. The amount could be set in settings. Procreate has this automatic full screen mode and it's very useful. Best wishes, Shu
  12. Good morning from the Bay Area. Of all the modes Ap offers Pixel mode is the one that I have yet to conquer. Maybe I missed it , but I didn't see many tutorials offered on the official site. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, I am curious to see/hear how you implement this mode into your workflow. And if you had some of the same issues I am having, how did you learn to use this mode, and what do you find you use it for the most? Thank you for your time and guidance, it really is appreciated.
  13. I would like the ability to lock or turn on the ability to keep an image object (or any object for that matter) from being affected by the Outline mode. This is incredibly useful when tracing out objects and they have fills applied while your using boolean functions to customize shapes (while retaining the stacking order of specific objects) or to remove the appearance of objects momentarily to trace the image. Sometimes you have nested layers and need to get to them quickly and cannot target them (or spend ages locating them in the layers panel) unless outline mode.
  14. I have attempted to try the selection tool and while using it, I can not seem to snap the edges onto what I want. The problem is not because it can not read it but I can't find the snapping selection. There should be a mode on the top bar allowing you to snap, change the width, add/subtract, and refine, however that whole bar does not show up. Is there a way to turn on this bar or setting?
  15. Hi, This is the feature I miss: B&W mode. This file format is very convenient in preparation for printing. Could that be possible? Thanks! Ps: By the way, I really like this program and Im very happy that finally I have it for PC.
