  1. I bought Affinity Photo from Microsoft Store and now want to buy Affinity Designer. Should I buy this also from Microsoft Store or can I purchase from Affinity Store? I note, from reading this forum, that I cannot launch Affinity Photo from Lightroom because I bought from Microsoft Store. Is there any other issues I need to be aware of for Designer and where I purchase it from? thanks for any advice
  2. I am going to buy Affinity designer from Microsoft store but before that I have some questions and I need answers of them ? 1) what will I get(product key or something else ) when I purchase designer from store ? 2 ) How will I restore my purchased product in my PC if I reset my PC or I install a new window ? 3) How will I get updates ?
Merci.
  4. Hello, I purchased all the Affinity programs through the Microsoft store but none of the product keys show when I log into Serif. I tried to register the programs and the system gives me an error. I wanted to register the software so I had a record of it in case my computer crashed. Could someone please update me on how to go about doing this?
  5. There's a mountain of people out there that would love to be able to convert Microsoft Publisher files to InDesign. Why don't you get the jump on them and a massive audience by making Affinity Publisher able to open or convert those .pub files on Mac. I think the only way to do it at the moment is to save the .pub files as PDFs them open them. Doing it this way nearly all of the subtle editing features are lost but at least you can copy and paste the basic elements. It would be great just to be able to open them in Publisher too.
  6. Hi there, I bought Affinity on the app sore on my mac and have recently got a new desk top windows PC. I was looking to get affinity on this machine too as i know you can have it on a number of machines if its just you using it. When i go to sign into my account, it dose not recognise the email address that is associated with my apple ID. Is there a way for me to get this on both PC and Mac without having to purchase two licences Thanks!
  7. I am loving Affinity Publisher, but I am hoping you can add an Affinity Word App to challenge Microsoft Word. Affinity Publisher feels great for the design aspect of ebooks, but what about just simply writing an ebook? I would love an Affinity Word Processor. Just like Adobe Microsoft has become Subscription based, it annoys me having to pay money every month to use Word. I would like a one time payment of Affinity Word, an app where I can just simply write, import and export as pdf or word document etc I could write with Affinity Word, then place the finished document into Affinity Publisher where I can add pictures and art, design etc Think about it Affinity, I know it is more work for you guys, but because you already have Affinity Publisher it shouldn't be too hard to turn this into Affinity Word. Rather like we have a Microsoft Publisher and a Microsoft Word. Also would love to see an Affinity Font app in future, an innovative font creation and font viewing tool and Affinity Video, an innovative video editing tool.
  8. I did some search on forum but found no topics about anything with keyword ".pub" Or "Microsoft Publisher", so I post a topic , hope can get some answer about whether it well be support in the future(.pub file support) btw:i am not need in that hurry , I know it is need of time to do coding , I am just ask whether .pub will be supported in the future.
  9. Is there any plan to support iPad mobile / touch interface for Surface (windows) platform?
  10. Dear Affinity-Team! I'm very impressed by the iPad version of your apps. Sadly I do "only" own a Microsoft Surface (Tablet). You can run Affinity Photo and Designer on it but sometimes it is a big pain in the ass to be not able to take full advantage of the power your programs offer. Especially without a cover and a mouse only equipped with the Surface Pen, it is difficult to get buttons right. For that reason, it would be just awesome to have a surface version with all those fantastic features and as intuitive as the iPad version. I hope to hear positive news soon. All the best from Germany. Stefan
  11. Affinity Photo and Designer updates aren't available on Microsoft Store (compared to the downloadable version). When will Serif publish the updated version to Microsoft Store? For example, the difference in Affinity Photo version Microsoft Store: 1.6.5.123 Serif Store: 1.6.5.135 I understand the difference is in the build number. But I also understand that there are stability improvements in this new build. Keen to install the latest version of the product.
  12. I'm new on Windows. I mostly ran Linux in past. My question is how do I acquire Affinity? Windows is kind of confusing too. I understand there are two ways: Buy from Serif's site. In that case, will it be a digital download? Then how will I receive the activation key or license? And if I change or reinstall Windows, will my key still work or I have to buy another license? Buy from Microsoft store. In that case, will I have a license? Or Microsoft will remember it for me? Will Microsoft store restores the affinity apps back free of cost if I reinstall Windows or I have to buy again?
  13. Hi, I bought Affinity Photo quite a while back (almost 2 years ago) and I want to know whether there's a way to get it through the Microsoft Store now, or do I need to buy it again if I also want it through that channel?
  14. Update: I went to Microsoft and tried it. You can use the vector brush tool with the surface pen in the same “drawing” motion that you can use on the iPad. I’ve been debating purchasing an iPad Pro vs. a Surface Pro 6...I was messing around with the app on the iPad Pro at the apple store and one thing I liked a lot is you can use the Apple Pencil to essentially “draw” your vectors through the vector brush tool. Is there the ability to do this on Microsoft surface pro with the surface pen with the pc version of affinity designer? Or is it only for the iPad app? Thanks!
  15. It has been pointed out numerous times since this was released for Windows 10.... they have not added use of the button on the pen. It makes using the device as often intended (in tablet) impossible for many features like clone. I'm glad they could make sure to have this working for the iPad Pro, but a year later we are still begging for this to be fixed. This is embarrassing.
  16. For a while, Microsoft offered Affinity Photo and Affinity at a sale price, so I used the Microsoft Store App to install the programs. They all work, but there was not an install program left behind nor directories that the programs were installed to! I am sure others have had this experience. I just want Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer installed the traditional way without paying for it again.
  17. I have the surface 3, but the Microsoft store won't allow me to download the affinity designer app, should I download the desktop version? On a similar note, I signed up for the free trial and tried downloading it but it is stuck in a loop. Once it downloads, it requests to be "Open" or "save". Open does nothing while save brings up the same prompts for another copy.
  18. After much consideration I've decided to invest in a portable tablet so that I'm no longer tethered to my Workstation at home and can double my output of designs by working on the go. I currently use an Artisul D13 tablet and it's been good to me, but I've recently tried my friends iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil and it completely blows mine out of the water. It's highly responsive with no lag, pressure sensitivity was off the charts, and there was no parallax which completely blew my mind! I went to Best Buy to purchase one and stumbled upon the MS Surface Book 2 on display so I checked it out. Now I'm conflicted because the Surface Pen is just as impressive as the Apple Pencil! The fact that the Surface Book 2 also doubles as a laptop and runs Windows 10 is a huge plus, but I need to inquire about a few things before I make such an investment. 1) Designer is the main app I use for my illustrations so I was wondering when it's coming to the iPad Pro or if there's some type of beta I can use until the full release. 2) If I get the Surface Book 2 am I allowed to install the same Designer & Photo I have on my PC or do I need a different License? 3) I know Photo is optimized very well on the iPad Pro so is it safe to assume that the same could be said for all versions of the Surface Book 2? 4) Let's say I get the Surface Book 2 with the i7 CPU, GTX 1060 GPU, and 16gb of Ram; Are there any type of performance benefits to having all the extra memory and computing power? If so what are they? Sorry for the long post and please feel free to comment. All opinions are welcome specially if you have an iPad Pro or the Surface Book 2.
  19. Team - I would like to buy Affinity Designer through the Microsoft Store since I have Microsoft Rewards to use but this is a gift. Do I apply the rewards, buy the software and then I can share the license as a gift? Thanks
  20. Photoshop is able to differ between the pen and the hand - you can use your fingers to navigate and zoom and the pen for drawing. I think this would be uselful. Thank you!
  21. Hi, I've just bought Affinity Photo yesterday (mainly to jump off the Adobe subscription bandwagon). I'm considering to buy a new "laptop" - in quotes, because the Surface Book tingles my fancy by far the most. I'm peeking for the smalles model, the i5 with 128GB SSD (96GB free as I've seen in a electro market yesterday) with no dedicated GPU, but comes with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 520. The display has a resolution of 3000x2000. I wonder if two things would work: - does Affinity Photo it scale nicely? I've heard about problems with Windows software who did not scale good. - does Affinity Photo use a dedicated GPU that much, that it would make no sense to buy such a device? I would wonder about the latter one as a lot of Apple MacBooks also come with integrated GPUs (even though, they do use the faster IRIS graphics). Maybe someone here uses a Surface Book with this configuration with Affinity Photo and could give me a hint. Many thanks in advance! Ciao Dennis
  22. Wow! Surface Studio seems to be giving its competition, Wacom and Apple, a run for their money. There's a lot of arguments out there, but i wish Apple could design an iMac and macOS to accept touchscreen input in the manner Studio does. I remember Craig demonstrating drawing on an iPad Pro and then copying the drawn map to a Mac at WWDC2016. This was supposed to showcase the brilliance of the new Universal Clipboard feature that binds iOS and macOS devices closer together. Comparing to Studio now, that copy-paste feature really looks like a desperate workaround more than anything else. When it comes to productivity, Microsoft certainly has trumped Apple, at least for now. This makes me consider switching allegiances. Apple needs to address this quickly! Right now, I strongly feel that their adamant decision to not sort of merge iOS and macOS, is more of an egotistical stance and a cruel business strategy to generate more profits. I'll reserve more comments for now, until at least after 27th October when Apple will be announcing new Mac hardware. http://www.pcworld.com/article/3135370/computers/hands-on-microsofts-surface-studio-is-a-windows-pc-for-the-mac-crowd.html Will Affinity on Windows be "tweaked" to take advantage of the Surface Dial?
  23. Are there plans to make a Windows 7 version of the Affinity products? Many designers use Windows rather than Macintosh computers to design every day. I was excited to see an alternative to Adobe's Creative Cloud product. Bummed to see it's only for Apple computers.
  24. After the recent popularity of my flat icon tutorial, I decided to start a tutorial series focusing on the principles of flat design. In this first tutorial, I focus on basic shapes and flat colors. As an example, I walk through how to make a flat iMac icon like I posted before. To view the tutorial, click here. Hope you like it!
