  1. Hello Affinity Photo development team, I'm not sure if this counts more as a bug report? Or as a feature request. There is a problem with Affinity Photo free-hand brush lines. When drawing, zoomed out or even zoomed in to 100% - brush lines and pixel tool lines zig-zag. Even though my hand doesn't shake - the lines produced have zig-zags. This is not due to the brush shape, or the spacing. Any brush shape, or 1% spacing still produces the same problem. I am not experiencing this problem on other programs - like Photoshop, Corel Painter, etc. On these programs, freehand lines remain accurate (smooth). The solution shouldn't be the stabilizer. The problem with the stabilizer - if you are a painter/artist - is that you want to paint quickly, with free-hand strokes. You don't want to paint with a line-trailing rope... The stabilizer is not good for artists. If your hands don't shake, you shouldn't need to use the stabilizer. Maybe the problem has to do with tablet coordinate mapping? Maybe there is something off in the mapping? I've experienced this problem in another program. A Japanese program called "OpenCanvas" - which has 2 options for tablet mapping. One is called "OS Coordinates" (which produces zig-zag lines) The other option is "Tablet Coordinates" (this one works perfectly - lines are stable when zoomed out or zoomed in. Strokes are super smooth - with NO need for a stabilizer. I've used a brand new 2019 Wacom Intuos Pro tablet, also used an Wacom Intuos Pro 3, and also a Wacom Cintiq 22HD. All tablets produce the same zig-zag lines. On other programs - strokes are very smooth. Maybe this is something that others have seen too? As a painter, this problem is a deal-breaker. But Affinity Photo is a fantastic program, with a great brush engine. It seems like something that would really be worth fixing.. A critical fix for painters and artists who would like to use Affinity Photo. Thank you immensely for viewing this issue and feature request.
  2. I'm not sure if this is a bug or something related to Windows Ink. My tablet seems to be struggling with mapping issues all the sudden. Not sure if this is due to Affinity Photo or maybe something else? UPDATE* -- I discovered this is related to the "high precision tablet input (experimental)" setting. I hadn't noticed it before because it sometimes takes a minute or so to start misbehaving when after opening a document. Un-checking resolves the "bug". I uploaded a video to show the weird brush behavior. It gets super glitchy the further into the recording. In general, I am sweeping my hand from left to right, and right to left, and basically past the menu, the cursor returns to the beginning of the screen instead of continuing over the menus. One variant of this position flipping allows pressure, but in some cases, pressure is not allowed no matter where I draw and it flips out, leaving minimal (.01% pressure) marks on the canvas. It is occasionally sporadic, but for the most part completely reproduce-able. I uninstalled, reinstalled Wacom drivers and restarted computer several times. I doubled checked after recording this video that Wacom wasn't using old configurations, so I trashed those again. I noticed when I returned to AP and starte ddrawing, my hand was all the way on the side and it was drawing in the center of the screen... you can see here in this picture... Also you can see in this video where the "glitch" is cutting across tabbed documents as well (according to tab location up top)... even though only one document is currently viewable: Note: I checked and disabling "Windows Ink" does not correct the glitch.
  3. Just stumbled across this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1mOXZneX5s. Maybe someone could come up with something for Affinity Photo to compete with it. Just a thought. Thanks.
  4. Tone mapping is not working on a single image pixel layer but is working on the background layer. Default panel on the left does not show any images can someone help
  5. Hi ! Recently I purchased Affinity Photo and it's my first post here I fall in love affinity Photo features, workflow and monthly fees free concept, but some bugs are really dissapointing. Considering to switch from adobe products to Affinity Photo, because it completely covers my needs. Really wish success to you, guys, and know how important feedbacks is, so there is one. Please forgive me, if I created theme in a wrong forum tree. I'm working in IT, my system is fast and clean, so please don't advise to turn off antivirus or smth. like that I already tried to tweak my machine perfomance, Affinity Photo perfomance and so on, but nothing helps. Have zero speed issues with Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop in described scenarios. They fast and furious My laptop specs: ASUS ZenBook UX330UA: Intel Core i5 6200U 2300 MHz / 13.3" / 3200x1800 / 8Gb RAM / 256Gb SSD / Intel HD Graphics 520 / Win 10 Pro Affinity Photo version: 1.5.2.69 Affinity Photo BETA version: 1.6.0.82 What I found during my work: 1) Tone Mapping persona is very slow. I'm processing 16MB 6114x4076 JPEG files and it takes about 1 minute to finish initial processing when swithcing to Tone Mapping Persona. Beta version, maybe, little bit faster. Not very noticable. 2) I created my own tone mapping preset and save it in my own folder in Tone Mapping Persona presets. After that, I created macros with one tone mapping action (which uses my preset) and save it in Affinity Photo library. Then, I created one batch job with 5 files and launched it - all my files were processed and placed into output folder correctly. Then, I closed Affinity Photo, relaunched it, and repeat my batch job in the same way. Photos were processed, BUT they were tone mapped by first default preset, not with my own. I tried to repeat and this hapened again. I recreated macros and found that it works fine. Closed Affinity Photo agian, relaunched it, and found that macros didn't work correctly again. Issue is reproduced not only with bacth mode. After relaunching Affinity Photo simple macros calling from library causes the same effect. 3) Tone Mapping macros batch processing is extremely SLOOOW!! IT takes about 3 minutes to process each photo by this way. More than, one photo processing time increasing with increasing of total photo number in batch. More photos, more time need for one photo processing. More than, Parallel processing increasing one photo processing time to about TEN minutes! Maybe, there is another way to tone mapping batch of photos, but I didn't find it. 4) I tried to do such macros batch job in Affinity Photo Beta. It cann't create tone mapping macros at all, failing with error. Macros Import from stable Affinity Photo version doesn't help. After such import Beta version cann't be launched, it fails during startup with error. 5) Time to time I'm catching another interesting bug: Studio refuses drag&drop photo import from folder. Studio reset helps. 6) Clarity in develop persona creates freaky white poster objects border effects on high meanings; 7) Develop Persona shadow recovery seems to be broken. It only adding grey tint to shadows, instead of pulling it. 8) Why after applying Develop Persona processing I can't return to it back again? History isn't saved. 9) 2 stops exposure Develop Persona tuning isn't enough. Need about 5 stops. 10) Develop Persona brushes and filters masks are dissapear after options tuning and cann't be called back again. Need to recreate filter/brush again. 11) Batch job editor doesn't remember previous settings
  6. While trying to open a larger orthorectified aerial mosaic image(TIFF format). I get the file type is not supported. The file is over 4GB in size, but opens fine in PS. Any ideas?
  7. I would like to use Affinity Designer for scaled drawings and designs. Examples include: Architecture, Carpentry, Landscaping (hardscaping, garden design, etc.), Mapping, etc. In these applications I need to scale the document to match real world dimensions in feet, yards, kilometers, miles, etc. so that 1" or 1 cm = some larger unit of measure i.e. 1:125,000 or 1:12 or 1:1000. There are plugins for AI to do this for mapping, etc. Example: http://www.avenza.com/mapublisher Can Designer use AI plugins like Photo can use Photoshop plugins? Can Designer scale documents? I can't find it. I only saw a request for this from 3 years ago and no follow up since.
  8. I just recently discovered the promo video for AD 1.5 and saw this (at minute 1:08) https://youtu.be/ybPzM1NO9lc?t=68 How do you do that? I know about the embedded files and that you can live edit them but this a whole new level as it is in a 3-dimensional setup. Any hints for me? :) Thanks in advance, Jay
  9. Here's an issue I am having. I open a jpg file. I then open the Tone Mapping Persona. Once opened the progress bar makes it about half way the program freezes and then shuts down. I have tried this several times with the same results. Once it even caused my computer to freeze up. I am using Windows 10, 64 bit.
  10. The tutorials for Affinity Photo are excellent. I would love to see a video tutorial on displacement mapping using AP. From everything I've seen on other techniques and methods, AP consistently seems to do things easier and faster (fewer steps) than the PS methods. I hope the AP staff will make a video.
