Is there a way in Designer iPad to ‘pin’ layers to the top of the layers stack, so that any layers created as you draw sit below them? Locking the layers does not do it. —————————————- Background: Why I need this. I’ve scanned a sketch. I now want to draw vector shapes based on the sketch. I’m using the image layer with a 20% opacity setting as a guide. I draw objects (at 100% opacity) below this top image layer. It saves me having to mess about with the opacity of umpteen layers rather than one. Some would call these reference layers. —————————————- . @Jowday’s post starts talking about reference layers in the Desktop app (I’ve not read it all).

In Affinity Photo - I lock layers so they won't move or be selected, yet I can still delete things on those layers and when I click on the locked material on the image, it still selects it with blue outlines. When I lock a layer, I want nothing to get selected or for anything to be editable, etc. Am I missing something?

Hey Everyone! Still enjoying my forage through AD and AP and found a couple little nuggets that I think would help speed up a few minor tasks for me personally. Also, new to the software so if I'm missing a setting to turn on any of these idea's suggested below, feel free to enlighten me! :) Also, if they have been mentioned in the past, here's my vote! :P (AD) Locking Layers: While in the process of creation I tend to lock layers that I plan to trace. While this could use a feature the likes of Illustrators making a layer "Template" which auto drops the layers opacity and locks it, I would like to see the ability to lock the layer, on the layer. In other words, not having two steps to select the layer in question then move the cursor upwards to the lock icon at the top of the panel to lock. Having the ability to just double click (or single click a new "boxed" lock icon) the location on the specific layer where the lock should appear, would save time. (AD) Closing Paths: Pretty simple one is just clicking the current anchor/node to close it versus an "alt" click to close. Sounds like a dumb requests but when using a tablet the cursor has better accuracy when performing a quick double tap quickly versus a minor stall in between an alt button push then targeting again. (AD) Pen Tool Path Preview: This would be a great feature to add to the tool. The pen tool current doesn't preview the path until the click is made. I would like to see this implemented as this is very crucial time saver when creating. (AD) Editing Masks: would like to be able to add multiple objects within the mask instead of having to prepare objects outside of the mask then applying them. Kind of like Illustrators isolation mode mixed with it's opacity mask feature. Also, is there a way to select a segment between to nodes/anchors and delete, thus opening/breaking the path without having to head to the "Action" section of the menu? Keep up the fantastic work and I look forward to the future with you guys! Thank you, Sully
