  1. So this one is a bit of a niche filter, but it is one of my favourites (it does an excellent job at breaking up hard edges, and helps bind layers together beautifully if you're going for the grainy look but don't want to introduce standard grain/noise) Especially when photobashing for concept art, "I use it on the daily".
  2. As mentioned in the earlier Beta topic for Cross-references, I would like to have a live preview checkmark so I can immediately see the changes that I am making in my document. Right now, all changes require me to reopen the window > edit the reference > apply > check > repeat. For example in the 2.3.0.2114 Beta (with shortcuts). 2023-11-08 14-28-57.mp4
  3. Live warp filter needs to have more options, like follow grid and numeric input for handler points. It's unusable for precise warping.
  4. I recently had to re-set Affinity Photo to factory defaults and now whenever I apply a Live Filter Layer it becomes nested under another layer (whichever is highlighted). I used to always have it apply as a separate layer, now I have to manually go and click on "release filter" to get it as its own separate layer. There must be a setting for this in preferences but I can't find it or am I doing something wrong? TIA.
  5. I used live perspective projection in the past but suddenly I do not get it working for me. I chose layer > live projection > perspective projection I did the edits, the edits on the background work just fine. I added another picture (the key) but this one is not projected at all. Do I need to merge the layers every time?
  6. Windows 10 Home 1903, Publisher 1.7.2.471. When I add a Live Filter – Perspective, Twirl, etc. - to a layer, via the Photo Persona, what I get on-screen is correct – redraw is a bit messy but I can put up with that for now – but when the document is exported to PDF the filter is no longer applied. Exporting to a PNG seems to be fine, exporting to a PDF is where the problem comes in (I haven’t tried other export formats). See attached AFPUB, PDF and PNG for examples showing (clockwise, from top-left) Twirl, Perspective, Voronoi, and Motion Blur. Note: I’ve been told that the same thing applies to exporting to PDFs from Photo but I’ve not tried that myself yet. Note: I've used both Adobe Acrobat and Firefox to view the PDFs and they both display the same way. This was originally discussed here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/95828-affinity-publisher-how-to-use-affinity-photo-live-filter-perspective-on-text-frame-via-studio-link/ live-filters-in-pdf.afpub live-filters-in-pdf.pdf
  7. Hello everyone i'm currently working on making my workflow with affinity products to be as fluid as it can so i won't mind not having other products installed. i know Designer and Photo use the same file format and i've learned about the place tool etc... but here is my need: Case: in Past days, using Adobe Products, i could prepare an A4/A5 Canvas on inDesign the work on my photo with PS then all vectors with Ai and when all is done just place them on my inDesign, adjust and if any change i want to do, i just right click on the stuff (picture or vector) select Open/Modify with, select the right software, do necessary changes there click Save come back to inDesign and see all changes Synched. i've tried to do that with Affinity products but up to now, i can't get the updated file synched after i have made changes and Saved the whole thing; it's just stays as it was the minute i placed it; so; maybe i'm missing something here on how to team them and use as efficient as i would do with Ai+PS+iD. Thank you all for your inputs.
  8. Hi, I just started using the program but throughout several video tutorials I have come to notice that I don't have the "New Live Filter" option on my Layer menu. Any ideas on why isn't it showing? And how can I get it to show? I'm currently running version 1.5.4 Thank you!
  9. A feature in animation software Hype is bundled with it's iOS software that sends live previews of your animation and timeline scrub straight to your iOS device. Such a feature could be useful particularly when creating UI for iOS devices. I'm hoping someone comes in here and tells me it already exists.
  10. Hi ! I downloaded AD recently and noticed instantly a strong image and vector object tearing when moving them or when I apply a live adjustment layer. It looks like squares with different update latency and it's really annoying. I looked everywhere on the forum and I couldn't find a similar issue. You can find attached GIFs I made to show the issue, and also a screenshot of my performances settings, if needed. I exaggerated the movement on purpose to make it more visible :)
  11. Had a bit of time last night for a weekend challenge so I pulled out an old Nikon raw file from an assignment in 2009 that was horribly mis-metered and badly exposed. Due to time constraints (the main shots had to be seeded to press right after the show) a bunch of shots never got published because they would have required too much time per shot. My challenge now was: Can I make this acceptable in 30 minutes or less. I think I got in the ballpark to where it'd be usable in an editorial context. Not likely that I'll publish this one as it's just a training piece to develop faster workflows. Moral of the story. Always shoot raw. Converters get better, new apps come along, chances are you can fix a bad shot a few years down the road. I pretty much expunged the way of working I had in Photoshop and now am closer to how I'd approach a shot in Nuke. Meta: Shot on August 8th 2009 at The Water Rats (Monto) in London, UK. Event: Noush Skaugen's album pre-release show for the DrSystem album
  12. Hello All, I have a question regarding the merge down function. When I click the 'merge' button the resulting image loses the sharpness as set on the live layer - my question is, Should the merged photo be identical to the image when adjustments are completed in the live layer because in my case it definitely is not? Any assistance or guidance would be most appreciated. Thanks More detail as follows: I've been using affinity photo for a few weeks now. I'm starting to get some useful results and I have a simple question regarding the use of live filter layers. I've used both the unsharp mask filter and high pass filters. When making adjustments on the live layers I can get some very impressive sharpening of my images. Once I have adjusted the settings on the live filter layer and select merge down, I have noticed that the resulting image has reduced sharpness and in fact results in a less than perfect image.
  13. Dear users, I just tried editing in Affinity Photo using a Wacom pen and tablet instead of the mouse and something ist quite strange for me. With the mouse, when I change for example a color adjustment with a slider, like changing color saturation, I can move the slider and the image shows instant preview. The change is made then, when I release the mouse button. That's like I would expect. But using the pen and tablet, there is no preview, when I drag a slider. The image just changes, when I lift the pen, which is like releasing a mouse button. This is quite irritating, because one cannot adjust a slider properly without preview. Does anybody know how to change this behavior? Moving a slider with the pen should do the same than moving it with the mouse. Thanks and best regards, Berin
  14. I would love a Fillet/Chamfer tool to be able to edit nodes (in an interactive mode if possible - dragging the sliders to adjust the values and seeing the changes updated in the scene). Something similar to what this plugin does for PS would be great http://photoshopscripts.wordpress.com/2013/02/03/corner-editor-photoshop-script/ Thanks!
