Hey everyone, I've noticed time and again that there are recurring issues with different blend modes for effects, layers, shapes, etc. In the attached file, you can see this at the bottom edge of the compound shape with gradient and effect. There's a bar or area that seems to be unaffected by the effect. Over the years, I've pragmatically looked for and then used similar blend modes. But now I'm wondering: Are these display errors still due to technically limitations, and why aren't they being addressed/fixed after all this time? Cheers, Dennis Discolored_Bar_Bug.afdesign

I ran into an issue where, if you duplicate symbols after applying an effect from another layer/ symbol/ group, the symbol is no longer duplicated as a symbol. Instead, it becomes a group. The bug is displayed towards the end, in the screencast, I also show that this wouldn't happen otherwise and that it is caused by the layer effect, not by the disabled symbol syncing. The bug part starts at 1:10. 2023-01-12 12-55-34.mp4 Steps to reproduce 1. Create a symbol 2. Duplicate the symbol 3. Disable syncing symbols 4. Add an effect to either a copy of the symbol or to an altogether different object 5. Drag the effect from to another copy of the symbol 6. Duplicate the symbol (from step 5) in the layers panel 7. Notice how the copy of the symbol becomes a group Also note that at 1:10 in the video, you'll see me dragging an effect of the symbol to the other symbol. Designer for some reason sometimes won't accept this. That's another bug, which since the two are related, I also report it in the same bug report. Workflow in which this occurs I have outlines applied to my symbols and to align them over other objects, I sometimes turn off the effect. It is then easier to re-enable the effect by dragging it from another symbol. I also tend to copy symbols if they are rotated, so I can preserve their rotation.

Now if I want to view a layer with/without layer effects, I enable/disable them one at a time. A global layer effect switch for each layer is time saving. Here is how Photoshop does. For reference. Affinity Designer 1.5.0.36 Windows 7 64 bit

When I export a GIF with transparency, Outline layer effect become hollow. This seems to happens on all Affinity, all platforms.

Dear Community I'm getting wrong results withe the same .APHOTO file using the Mac version (1.10.5 and all before) of Affinity Photo. When I use Blend Mode: "Darker Color" in Layer Effects it only works correct with the PC version. Settings (for the red square): Result on the PC (desired): Result on the Mac (buggy?): I also attached the source file. Can anyone reproduce the error or is it only on my machine (MacBook Pro running MacOs 12.3.1)? afphoto-shadow-darker-color-test_01.afphoto Additional fact: When I switch to Affinity Designer (1.105) the result is correct. Hello Affinity incredible staff❤️ Sometimes, I'm using picker and recent colors on FX (Layer Effects). However, iPad version Photo and Designer cannot use or show Recent color on Colour studio palette. Because if enable some effect of FX switch, effect is applied on layer's object then. And I cannot access to object's color with Color picker tool. So, I don’t able to use object’s color 😔 Thank you for your great programming ⌨️ 🙏

After used Perspective/Mesh Warp tool on a vector object, it will lose layer effects. if it's a pixel object, this doesn't happen.

Would be nice if I cloud register only Layer Effects as a style. Sometimes I don't want to apply fill&stroke together and want to inherit them from the object applied a style.

In the desktop version of Affinity Designer, when you apply an ‘Outline’ layer effect with a gradient fill you have full control over the opacity of that fill. I can’t see a way to vary the opacity of the ‘Outline’ fill in Affinity Photo for iPad. Is it possible, and if so, how?

I will admit that my familiarity with use and defs proves limited at this point in time. In an effort to make it easier for plebs like me, could you export it as a similar svg filter object? I have a very simple layer effect - a 4 pixel outline - that I would like to apply to multiple individual layers. Is there a workflow to save a layer effect so that it can be applied over and over again? I thought it might be a style, but I can't seem to save the layer effect as a style. And I don't see anything that allows me to copy / paste a layer effect. Thank you.

Is there any way (in Designer or Photo) to copy the Layer Effects of one layer and apply them to another layer (so you can have precisely the same settings)? I used to do this in Photoshop by command-dragging the effect onto another layer (I think it was command ... some modifier anyway!). Many thanks :-) (Edit: I like the fact you can have the Layer Effects panel open and then select different layers and the panel updates to show that layer's settings. That helps a bit with entering the same values on another layer.)

Hi, I was missing an obvious option to remove a layer fx, for example by: 1. context menu (RMB) 2. an entry in menu layers (plus shortcut) 3. via drag 'n drop (like in Adobe Phoooooop) Up to now, I had seen me forced to click on the fx icon and then deselect all used fx (in worst case all 10) to get rid of the fx. Together with all the mouse movements too much clicks and precise mouse work. WORKAROUND (I just found today): w1. CMD+C on an element with no layer fx (and no style) w2.
