  1. I would like to suggest a feature to lock individual guides via the Guide Manager. This is a feature in Indesign that we utilize in our group layout process that we would like to see carried forward into Publisher. In a our workgroup of 20 graphic artist, copies writers, and layout team, it important to use to have guides that can not be moved. These guides to hold boundaries that are outside the constraints of our press margins. This ability would be most helpful.
  2. I've got several artboards in my document and the guide manager doesn't show correct numbers of the guides position. There is probably some mismatch with Spread Origin value.
  3. The isometric grids continue to displace when zooming, making very difficult to set precise nodes on it as the grid doesn't align with the magnet points. Fails on all perspective grids (ISO, ISO 2:1, dimetric, oblique, trimetric, triangular, etc.)
  4. Affinity Designer already has a grid and axis manager, to select diferente types of grids, like isometric, dimetric, …. Also it also has the isometric panel, that change planes to edit or fit objects in a given plane. A new option of grid could be developed to do perspective drawings, like on paper with One Point Perspective or Two Point Perspective, that uses vanishing points to create the illusion of depth in an drawing. And probably using a similar organization of isometric drawings. This use of the geometry in the grid and panel, would be very useful for to make this type of drawings. Now, we need to create lines to achieve this, and it is not practical or productive. Does anyone also finds this useful? Cheers
  5. Hi everyone, I really love Affinity Designer and want to stick with it and will! It works really well but it has some really important (to me) features missing. I have used CorelDRAW for a very long time but it is definitely bloated and slow at this point. I guess it is still based on some sort of old technology. Anyway, something I really like in Corel draw is the ability to have angled guides. You drag a guide onto the pasteboard just the same as Affinity and then as you can see at the top left of the screen grab I'm attaching, you get the option to change the angle. In fact, guides are added to a new layer which is, by default, set not print. This means you can lock the guides layer, move it up and down in the stack of layers et cetera. This is so useful in so many situations. Is this something Serif might consider adding to designer? Thanks. What do others think?
  6. Is there any way of reproducing the layout of an artboard so that I can produce a 24 page document without having to set up the margins and guides on each artboard?
  7. I think guides should be visible even if they are outside of canvas/artboards

    can't move guides

Vertical Guides are being created in other artboards,... and i can't move them. Can't change position value. This is a recorrent bug in other tools envolving guides, column, margins.
  9. -PREAMBLE- I'm still not very happy about affinity's alt-dragging behaviour, where you have to decide BEFORE pressing the mouse, if you want to duplicate. From ID or AI I'm used to drag, and then think of all the modifier-keys to hold... But what's very annoying is that things don't snap to my guides anymore, while in alt-dragging mode. This has to be a bug, i'm sure!
  10. In this lesson we set up a document inside of Affinity using guides to create bleeds. Then we go on to create a business card. Check it out and go create. https://youtu.be/tDxQaOVVWrg *Please note that this was created in 2015 using version 1.2, there have been a lot of updates since and the upcoming release of 1.7 will solve my work arounds for this tutorial. 11. - The possibility to rotate and delete the guides directly from the art board by click and delete. (at the moment i can only deleat a guide if i drag it out from the art board, and this is annoying!). Also, if not asking too much, convert a draw object into a guide. (like old FreeHand used to do...) - The possibility to change type case (Lower / upper). - Perspective distortion tool!
  12. I feel like this is a dumb question, but I made some document guides by dragging over from the rulers, and now I can't seem to figure out how to delete them. How do I do this quick and easy?
  13. Guides still placed relative to upper LH corner only. 'sigh' Win 7 SP1, 64 bit, AFFP v.337
  14. Is there a way to make a diagonal guide? I am doing some drawing in perspective and would like to snap to vanishing guideline. I was wanting to recreate a photograph I took of a glass walled office building. Part of that was to accurately scale the windows and I was using a trick with right triangles, the hypotenuse and adjacent sides, so I wanted a snap to the vanishing line; there may be an easier way to do it, but it seems to work.
  15. Has anyone of you lovely people experienced issues with guides? They used to work ok - a bit buggy, but now they're completely broken. If anyone has a hack to unlock artboard guides on ipad pro I'd be so grateful! When I navigate to guides>show guides I can't move any of the existing guides, the only function I can perform is to add new guides - but even though I can add guides, these cannot be moved by hand/apple pencil (only by adjusting coordinates). Many thanks.
  16. Using iPad Pro + Apple Pencil 2019 Once I have my guides set, I cannot drag them or move them at all. It appears as if they are locked - any help greatly appreciated!
  17. Hi, I created a 24 x 36" (609.6 mm x 914.4 mm) document in Photo and added guides like this: Then I added 6 mm Canvas Size equally. But after clicking the Resize button, this is what I get: You could see that guides on the left and top are not visible! When I do this in Photoshop, all guides stay where they are! What might be the issue causing this in Photo? Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
  18. Hi when I add a guide I can just about see it in the image window, wish it was possible to alter colour and thickness!, but I can't see it in the rest of the app window or in the ruler bar so it is mega difficult to lign up exaxctly where required. PSElements is fine for this. Am I doing something wrong or have I missed a setting or selection somewhere? cheers.....
  19. Hello, how do I turn on the smart/audio guides like you get in photoshop? If you don't know what I am talking about, check the adobe link below: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/how-to/align-space-objects.html
  20. A great feature I came to appreciate in other vector editors when doing perspective drawings or circular arrangements are slanted guides. In Designer, there are no slanted guides but the grid helps out. However, a full grid is not always needed. The workaround I use, is to make a "Guides"-Layer and put some lines on it as guides. With object snapping, these lines can be used as guides. Still, it would be nice to have an additional panel to set up slanted guides. Below a snippet from a program with slanted guides.
  21. Windows 10 Home 1809, Publisher 1.7.0.206. Unfortunately I can't give you a simple sample document that shows the problem as it doesn't always happen but sometimes when I: * have a master page with column guides; * then apply that master to a spread; * then create another master with 'normal' guides; * then apply that new master to the spread - as well as the other one, not replacing - the column guides sometimes: A. go invisible (often) while 'normal' guides are still visible; B. become visible again when I randomly drag the masters in the layout studio (infrequently works as a fix); C. get deleted all together; D. get renumbered to a much higher number, e.g. from 4 columns to 48 columns (only seen that once so far). Again, sorry I can't supply an example document. Hopefully I've given enough info' to start a small investigation.
  22. I haven't been able to find any way to create diagonal guides, despite all of the community feedback. Is this something that will be implemented in the next release?
  23. Another bug.. Or maybe it's "by design"? Guides placed on artboards disappear when placed inside a layer. They are only visible when you physically select the artboard itself. Once you start adding shapes, they disappear This is not a problem with artboards that are not within a layer.
  24. Win 7, Publisher 17.0.277 I find placing guides via the guide manager impossible on a double-page spread because the guideline measurements do not relate to the zero marks on the rulers if the zeros have been offset from the top left-hand corner. This really bad when placing vertical guides relative to the vertical centre line in the middle of a two-page spread. A guide supposed to be +5" to the right of the centre line actually ends up 5" from the left-hand side of the left page, even though the x-zero mark on the ruler is in the dead centre of the double-page spread. In other words, it ends up -3.5" (i.e. to the left) from the centre line. Zeros.docx
  25. You should be able to create guides with any tool selected, at least any drawing tool. Not just the move tool.
