  1. I've noticed an odd behaviour in the attached Affinity Designer file. The objects on the page are all the right way up (no rotation). However if I group any of them together the group shows as rotated 180 degrees. Logo Flip When Group.afdesign
  2. Hey guys, I was recently designing a brochure in Publisher and I was simply trying to scale a group but for whatever reason it was not working how I thought it should work. Example - I had 2 placed images, a vector curve and some copy and headline text in a group. I wanted to scale the group proportionally and make it bigger, but when I did so the images and the vector curve scaled correctly and the headline text and copy pretty much stayed the same size. No matter which way I tried to do this it didn't work...I just ended up doing this manually (scaling the text manually and separately even though the headline and text was in a group) not sure what I'm doing wrong but I hope it's a simple fix..... This seems like a basic thing to be able to do (works in Indesign haha) Thanks in advance.
  3. 1. Create a group of several layers of any kind 2. Add a mask layer to the group 3. Ungroup the layers 4. The mask layer has been deleted This only happens to mask layers subsequently added to existing groups. Mask layers that exist before creating the group are not being removed when ungrouping the layers. AP 1.7.3.481
  4. Hey. I study Affinity designer. Tell me, please, how to configure the export to PDF or EPS so that the layers and groups remain in place? I grouped the elements into groups and layers in the iPad app, but they ungrouped when exported to EPS or PDF
  5. Hello, I have many projects made with older than current 1.7.2 version, and now when I open them I'm facing a problem related with mask in groups and my files are all messed up. The issue is that when you group layer adjustments and then apply a mask on the group, the mask is applied to everything underneath and not only to group contents. I attached an example file, the mask applied to the group should be applied to Curves adjustment and Recolour adjustment, instead it's applied to the layer underneath. I made a mockup image of the actual result vs what should be. Thanks example.afphoto
  6. Hello, Happens in both Publisher 1.7.2.471, and Publisher BETA 1.7.3.475. Windows 10. Dell 7530 Precision laptop. Have come across a bug in my workflow when aligning and grouping the aligned items. I have attached 5 images to show the steps and results. Here is a step by step to reproduce: New document. Place 3 objects on the canvas. Select all three items Select the Alignment button at top middle of screen (above ruler) In the Align Horizontally section, select Selection Bounds Select Space Horizontally In the Align Vertically section, select Selection Bounds Select Align Middle Don't hit the OK button yet. Items are now aligned and spaced as expected. On the keyboard, group those items using Control-G Items jump back to original layout, unaligned and unspaced. Now hit the OK button. The unaligned and unspaced items now jump down the page and are Aligned Middle to the spread. It is step 10, Grouping the items before hitting the OK button to close the Alignment panel. Let me know if you need further explanation. Lynn
  7. Hi guys Please watch the 1 minute video. What am I doing wrong? I have no clue. Please aware this is a Group in a Group. Switching Passthrough to Normal also has no effect. All replies appreciated. Video: Grouped Adjustment Layers having no effect
  8. Hello! I'm new to Affinity Photo and am surprised with the following: If I group two adjustment layers and associate a mask layer with that group, it seems that the mask layer will be affecting the underlying pixel layer rather than the group of adjustment layers. See A.png. It works as I expected if I associate the mask layer only with one adjustment layer. See B.png. I'd like to have a mask layer affecting the group of adjustment layers. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
  9. Hello Affinities! First, I have to say: I really enjoy using Affinity Photo for "finishing" my landscape photos. Thanks for such a great product. Yesterday, on my Windows 10 desktop computer, I updated to Affinity Photo 1.7.2.471. I opened a rather complex file and instantly noticed different rendering of the photo. I used an levels adjustment layer and a gaussian blur live filter in a group to create an orton effect. I reduced opacity and I put a masked on the group. While painting with a black brush on the white mask, a checkerboard pattern occured. I simplified that. A loaded a photo, created an empty pixel above put it in a group and masked the group. Paining the mask leads to the same effect. There seems to be an bug in masking a group or is this a rendering option I can disable in the preferences? Thanks and best regards, Jens
  10. This doesn’t apply to me but the question popped into my head so I thought I’d ask as the answer might be interesting. Given the following scenario: * There is an organisation – such as a small neighbourhood group – which wants to buy a copy of, for example, Publisher to use for editing their newsletter. * They only have one newsletter editor at any time – one person who uses the software at any one time – but the editing duties may pass from person to person as it often does in small groups like this when people leave the group or the duties are transferred, etc. * All of the editors will have computers that use the same OS. * The organisation does not own or control the machines the editors will use the software on. * The group probably won’t be registered as an organisation in any kind of legal way, they’re just a bunch of people who share an interest, e.g. The Ambridge Book Club, The Borsetshire Birdwatching Society, etc. Would it be possible for that group to buy one license and ‘transfer’ that single license from one machine to another as the editing position moves to different people and different machines? Or would each new editor need to purchase a new license? I understand that people have to buy a new license if they need to use a different OS, and that’s understandable, but I was wondering what would happen in cases like that which I have outlined.
  11. Would be nice to have a BRUSH manager for both DESIGNER AND PHOTO. Rather than being stuck with order of import. The ability to save favorite brushes , and rename brush groups! Gary
  12. Ever since the upgrade when I try to group layers AP crashes. This is within a saved AP file. Windows 7 - 64 bit ~ AP 1.7.0.367 Is there a later patch after this version? I had no problems before other than kind of laggy but I don't have a real powerful computer, either so it was not unexpected. Can I just uninstall then reinstall the previous version? EDIT 6.15.19 I saved this file as a jpg and created a couple of layers in the jpg file, grouped them and there were no issues. ALSO, I did not mention that I had grouped layers in the original file so the crash is happening after the RAW file is saved as an Affinity Photo file with the history saved.
  13. Is there a way to access/open a group without ungrouping it and selecting ONLY inside that group? In other words, I want to be able to drag-select items inside a group without selecting any elements outside of the group.
  14. ... looks like this: (layer "gold ..." -> 56 %, background rectangle -> 100 %; background-group: 50 %) For correcting I added a 100 % white background (outside of the group) and adjustet the transparence of the group:
  15. Hello, I am unable to preserve an opacity gradient (transparency tool in designer) applied at the group level when exporting to svg format. With option "rasterize unsupported properties", I get a rasterize image With option "rasterize nothing", the gradient disappear Is it a some workaround ? Thanks for your help. gradient.afdesign
  16. As yet I have not found any way to group swatches, like we can have sublayers under a top layer. This would be very useful when one has so many swatches that one has to scroll to find them. Up to now I simply put is a "title swatch" (a color I do not use) and make an artificial heading for swatches that are common to that part of my work. A group-type approach to swatches would be great.
  17. This post relates to Affinity Publisher Beta 1.7.0.249 Following discussions on the topic 'Show Hyperlinks indication in Edit Mode' I thought I had solved a problem for someone who wanted two hyperlinks to a URL on every page, so I tried putting two hyperlinks on the Master Page of a 20 page (non-facing page) spread. Brilliant! Only 2 hyperlinks shown in Hyperlinks Studio tab, but 20 pages with working hyperlinks when exported as PDF for Web so I posted this information. . However the correspondent claimed to be getting more hyperlinks appearing in Hyperlinks Studio tab, which at first I couldn't replicate. However what I have now found is that if you select text on the Master Page and create a hyperlink from it to a URL, then adding more pages does NOT add more hyperlinks to Hyperlinks Studio tab. In my answer I had simply selected some text positioned over a filled circle. However if you select a GROUP [in my case a circle with text inside ] then creating a hyperlink to a URL from that leads to 1 extra hyperlink being added to the Hyperlink Studio tab for each page added, so the example below shows that when I've added five new pages to the spread, 5 new hyperlinks have been created. Conclusion - hyperlinks from text source on master page don't lead to increased number of hyperlinks when pages are added but hyperlinks from an Object source result in new hyperlinks being added when new pages are inserted Pman
  18. When opening an SVG file, Affinity Designer will create layers from groups in an unexpected/buggy way. For example, opening the attached test.svg file, which looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd"> <svg width="256px" height="256px" version="1.1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xml:space="preserve" xmlns:serif="http://www.serif.com/" style="fill-rule:evenodd;clip-rule:evenodd;stroke-linejoin:round;stroke-miterlimit:1.41421;"> <g id="three"> <circle cx="192" cy="64" r="8"/> <circle cx="192" cy="96" r="8"/> <circle cx="192" cy="128" r="8"/> </g> <g id="two"> <circle cx="128" cy="64" r="8"/> <circle cx="128" cy="96" r="8"/> </g> <g id="one"> <circle cx="64" cy="64" r="8"/> </g> <g id="zero"> </g> </svg> in Affinity Designer 1.6.1 will not result in an empty layer called "zero", a single element layer called "one", a two element layer called "two", etc. Instead, this is the result: That is, the "zero"- and "one"-groups were ignored, and instead we got a single free ellipse with a name taken from the ignored "one"-group's id ... The groups with id "two" and "three" were imported as expected though. This inconsistency makes working with SVG files in Affinity Designer frustrating. I'd like to be able to export as SVG, reopen that SVG and export SVG again, without losing or messing up basic structure like groups and ids ... test.svg
  19. How can one group multiple layers in a Macro? I can record a Group operation, but what is the envisioned usage of that if I am unable to have more than one layer selected before it. Also doesn't seem possible to record moving a layer into a group.
  20. Hey everyone! It would be great if there was an option to lock and unlock all children (may be groups themselves) of a group. While I posted this in the Designer for iPad subforum, this could be very helpful in the other versions of Affinity software as well. Personally, I just think it's most useful in Designer, since the number of objects and layers can add up quite a lot. Best wishes, Shu
  21. Hey everyone! When adding to selection, Designer for iPad does not take group levels into account. For example, when trying to select "Shape 1" and "Shape 3" from the following tree: Group 1 Shape 1 Shape 2 Group 2 Shape 3 Shape 4 , Designer for macOS would select exactly those. Designer for iPad, however, selects "Shape 1" and "Group 2". Also, there seems to be no "Add to selection" for Photo for iPad at all. Would be great if you could add that at some point. Best wishes, Shu
  22. Some Groups Cropping borders like a mask Group crops - Bug 2.afdesign
  23. Affinity Designer version 1.6.5.123: Grouping objects moves them. there is a another post about this problem but there is no fix. Group Bug.afdesign
  24. I would like to see more control over the guides in the manager. 1. Guide grouping: This would allow you to turn on/off guides to reduce the number that you want to interact with at any one time on each layer. You could also use these groups over different layers. 2. Guide color selection: Similar to the grouping, but this way you could color code your lines. 3. Guide position shown in the work area: Right now I believe the only way to see the exact position of each guide is in the manager, but if the positions were listed on the guides themselves like coordinate dimensioning you could easily identify the position. You could even key in the exact location like a CAD system. 4. Guide Highlighting: Another way to see which line you are working with in the manager is to highlight the same guide in the work area that you have selected in the manager.
  25. Hello, is it possible to change the size of identical objects simultaneously? When I mark all objects, which I want to resize, I can change the size of the whole group, but not of the individual object any more. Thanks for any advice! Best, Chris
