  1. Hello, I am unable to preserve an opacity gradient (transparency tool in designer) applied at the group level when exporting to svg format. With option "rasterize unsupported properties", I get a rasterize image With option "rasterize nothing", the gradient disappear Is it a some workaround ? Thanks for your help. gradient.afdesign
  2. Ever since the upgrade when I try to group layers AP crashes. This is within a saved AP file. Windows 7 - 64 bit ~ AP 1.7.0.367 Is there a later patch after this version? I had no problems before other than kind of laggy but I don't have a real powerful computer, either so it was not unexpected. Can I just uninstall then reinstall the previous version? EDIT 6.15.19 I saved this file as a jpg and created a couple of layers in the jpg file, grouped them and there were no issues. ALSO, I did not mention that I had grouped layers in the original file so the crash is happening after the RAW file is saved as an Affinity Photo file with the history saved.
  3. Would be nice to have a BRUSH manager for both DESIGNER AND PHOTO. Rather than being stuck with order of import. The ability to save favorite brushes , and rename brush groups! Gary
  4. As yet I have not found any way to group swatches, like we can have sublayers under a top layer. This would be very useful when one has so many swatches that one has to scroll to find them. Up to now I simply put is a "title swatch" (a color I do not use) and make an artificial heading for swatches that are common to that part of my work. A group-type approach to swatches would be great.
  5. This post relates to Affinity Publisher Beta 1.7.0.249 Following discussions on the topic 'Show Hyperlinks indication in Edit Mode' I thought I had solved a problem for someone who wanted two hyperlinks to a URL on every page, so I tried putting two hyperlinks on the Master Page of a 20 page (non-facing page) spread. Brilliant! Only 2 hyperlinks shown in Hyperlinks Studio tab, but 20 pages with working hyperlinks when exported as PDF for Web so I posted this information. . However the correspondent claimed to be getting more hyperlinks appearing in Hyperlinks Studio tab, which at first I couldn't replicate. However what I have now found is that if you select text on the Master Page and create a hyperlink from it to a URL, then adding more pages does NOT add more hyperlinks to Hyperlinks Studio tab. In my answer I had simply selected some text positioned over a filled circle. However if you select a GROUP [in my case a circle with text inside ] then creating a hyperlink to a URL from that leads to 1 extra hyperlink being added to the Hyperlink Studio tab for each page added, so the example below shows that when I've added five new pages to the spread, 5 new hyperlinks have been created. Conclusion - hyperlinks from text source on master page don't lead to increased number of hyperlinks when pages are added but hyperlinks from an Object source result in new hyperlinks being added when new pages are inserted Pman
  6. When opening an SVG file, Affinity Designer will create layers from groups in an unexpected/buggy way. For example, opening the attached test.svg file, which looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd"> <svg width="256px" height="256px" version="1.1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xml:space="preserve" xmlns:serif="http://www.serif.com/" style="fill-rule:evenodd;clip-rule:evenodd;stroke-linejoin:round;stroke-miterlimit:1.41421;"> <g id="three"> <circle cx="192" cy="64" r="8"/> <circle cx="192" cy="96" r="8"/> <circle cx="192" cy="128" r="8"/> </g> <g id="two"> <circle cx="128" cy="64" r="8"/> <circle cx="128" cy="96" r="8"/> </g> <g id="one"> <circle cx="64" cy="64" r="8"/> </g> <g id="zero"> </g> </svg> in Affinity Designer 1.6.1 will not result in an empty layer called "zero", a single element layer called "one", a two element layer called "two", etc. Instead, this is the result: That is, the "zero"- and "one"-groups were ignored, and instead we got a single free ellipse with a name taken from the ignored "one"-group's id ... The groups with id "two" and "three" were imported as expected though. This inconsistency makes working with SVG files in Affinity Designer frustrating. I'd like to be able to export as SVG, reopen that SVG and export SVG again, without losing or messing up basic structure like groups and ids ... test.svg
  7. How can one group multiple layers in a Macro? I can record a Group operation, but what is the envisioned usage of that if I am unable to have more than one layer selected before it. Also doesn't seem possible to record moving a layer into a group.
  8. Here's an effect I'm finding: Zoom into a pixel layer so you can see the pixels. Add sharpening layer above Unsharp and HP both have same effect. I tried it with several other adjustments and it didn't happen. Group the sharpening layer (Ctrl-G) so sharpening is only layer in group. 'squares' appear, as below (only after the grouping Merge Visible makes them disappear, so presumably it's a rendering thing, but it makes non-destructive editing impossible.
  9. Hey everyone! It would be great if there was an option to lock and unlock all children (may be groups themselves) of a group. While I posted this in the Designer for iPad subforum, this could be very helpful in the other versions of Affinity software as well. Personally, I just think it's most useful in Designer, since the number of objects and layers can add up quite a lot. Best wishes, Shu
  10. Hey everyone! When adding to selection, Designer for iPad does not take group levels into account. For example, when trying to select "Shape 1" and "Shape 3" from the following tree: Group 1 Shape 1 Shape 2 Group 2 Shape 3 Shape 4 , Designer for macOS would select exactly those. Designer for iPad, however, selects "Shape 1" and "Group 2". Also, there seems to be no "Add to selection" for Photo for iPad at all. Would be great if you could add that at some point. Best wishes, Shu
  11. Some Groups Cropping borders like a mask Group crops - Bug 2.afdesign
  12. Affinity Designer version 1.6.5.123: Grouping objects moves them. there is a another post about this problem but there is no fix. Group Bug.afdesign
  13. I would like to see more control over the guides in the manager. 1. Guide grouping: This would allow you to turn on/off guides to reduce the number that you want to interact with at any one time on each layer. You could also use these groups over different layers. 2. Guide color selection: Similar to the grouping, but this way you could color code your lines. 3. Guide position shown in the work area: Right now I believe the only way to see the exact position of each guide is in the manager, but if the positions were listed on the guides themselves like coordinate dimensioning you could easily identify the position. You could even key in the exact location like a CAD system. 4. Guide Highlighting: Another way to see which line you are working with in the manager is to highlight the same guide in the work area that you have selected in the manager.
  14. Hello, is it possible to change the size of identical objects simultaneously? When I mark all objects, which I want to resize, I can change the size of the whole group, but not of the individual object any more. Thanks for any advice! Best, Chris
  15. I've recently started using the batch feature to speed up my workflow. I had a few recordings saved in the library but the other day I went to use one and poof...they were gone. I couldn't even see the default presets. Thinking that maybe it was a glitch I tried replicating one I'd made (I needed to edit a group of photos). Once I'd completed it I tried to save it to my library....nothing. No popup window no nothing, like the link had been cut. I tried resetting the program but it didn't resolve the issue. I dont know if I deleted the batch folder or something by accident, but regardless it's not working and I need this feature for my business. Can someone please help me??????
  16. I select multiple layers to group. I expect to see some sort of option I can simply click to group, but I can't see anything. I'm using the Work Book, and a 'group' option is supposed to come up on the Contextual Toolbar, but there is no option to group. Am I missing something? Edit: right click, and I see the option CTRL G for group. Going by the Work Book, should this option be showing up on the Contextual Toolbar?!? Just curious.
  17. Create a shape or something; group it (so it's by itself) and then remove the shape from the group (yielding an empty group) Create a second shape, outside of the group (a rectangle will do) Order the rectangle so that it's above the empty group and then perform a "Mask To Below" operation on the shape (so that it masks the empty group) See below for result - there's a strange border that appears. It changes shade and thickness as you zoom in and out.
  18. I need to do this so I can make a pixel layer to add some texture without the various shapes showing lines/edges. I';ve succewssfully done this with the rest of the image as you can see in the attached photo. But those were all single shapes. I made this alien's body in 4 different shapes but I want them completely merged. I thought I could group them and add new pixel layer... but no matter where I place the pixel layer... it's just not right. How do I merge these 4 shapes into 1 shape? Not just group them. I feel like it's an obvious answer....
  19. When exporting a file to SVG from within Designer, for each layer or group having an opacity set below 100%, Designer automatically adds an extra, redundant, group just to apply opacity to: * Adding a group without opacity set less then 100%: <g id="myID"> <rect x="152.01" y="85.967" width="142.705" height="84.033"/> </g> * But when opacity of the group is set below 100%: <g id="myID"> <g opacity="0.5"> <rect x="152.01" y="85.967" width="142.705" height="84.033"/> </g> </g> This results in larger and more complicated SVG-outputs then necesary, but most importantly: it breaks the structure and hierarcy as meant by the designer causing all kind of problems when using the SVG for styling and javascript usages: interactivity and animations. Because suddenly there is an extra, unexpected level in hierarcy and the ID is on a different level then the opacity. That way webdevelopers can't trust the ID anymore. Instead the opacity should be applied directly to the group like visually done in Designer, keeping the structure the same as in the GUI and so meant by the designer: <g id="myID" opacity="0.5"> <rect x="152.01" y="85.967" width="142.705" height="84.033"/> </g>
  20. When opening Adobe Illustrator files that contain grouped objects, those object are not grouped when opening in AD as they are in Illustrator. There are groups, but they seem to be random. Is this normal behavior of AD? If so, will there be a fix in the future?
  21. I selected objects and group them, but one object (head) changed position. See the short video. I am using Affinity Designer for long time and this is first time happened. Affinity Designer 1.5.5 iMac 27-inch, 2017 (see the attachments) Thanks Tom affinitydesigner-mistake.mp4
  22. One can set the blend mode on an adjustment layer to for example Darken, and this results in the original layer and the live adjustment of it being blend together with Darken. Same for live filter layers. However I would like to take a series of adjustments and live filters, do all of them in a sequence on a pixel layer and then take the resulting adjusted image and blend with the original using some blend mode like Darken. Or for example take a blur layer, an invert layer and then apply the composition of these two with Vivid light blending to the original. The only way I can achieve visually what I am looking for is to duplicate the pixel layer, put the adjustments & filters on it and set a blend mode on it. However the layer duplication step makes the result a static filter, which no longer reflects changes in the original pixel layer. I was expecting that putting just the live filter and the adjustment layer into a layer group and then setting blend mode on the layer group achieves this non-destructively, but layer groups doesn't seem to work like this. Look at the screenshots, my expectation is to see the same image in the two cases. Is there some way to achieve this non-destructively?
  23. Could we please have a keypress to select the parent of the currently selected object? This would allow for fast navigation within the Layers tree and adds a fine grained version of the Select All command, progressively expanding the current selection from a single object, up through the current group, layer, artboard, and document. Thanks for your consideration.
  24. In Affinity Photo blend modes are a feature - and I guess most people with some experience have tried them or know how to use them. They are arranged in groups - but it would be helpful if the menu could be presented either with spaces or other delimiters between groups in the menu, of with different backgrounds or features so that the groups become clearer - e.g. Darkening group, LIghtening group and so on. I've not checked right now with the iPad version as well, but it would be good if this also applied to that version. This wouldn't alter the functionality, but might make the interface easier for some people.
  25. Struggling to get a gradient to appear across multiple objects within a group. Have experimented with removing sub-groups and changing stroke settings etc.. no difference. See attachment, the items should be mostly red, but instead, they're showing as just the Yellow. Have tried multiple restarts and on multiple laptops with different installs, (but both 1.6.1) -B
