For vectors only files, from the Export Settings, changing the "Use DPI" doesn't embed DPI property in the SVG (always 72DPI). Instead, the subsequent file has pixel size changed directly proportional to the DPI changed. For files with images, increasing the DPI has the same effect as the files having vectors only. However when you decrease the DPI, the subsequent SVG file will have BOTH the DPI and pixel size increased. (e.g. 1920*1080px@72DPI > Use DPI: 30 > export SVG > 2133.333333*1200px@192DPI) DPI is embedded in the SVG when opened with Affinity. But when I opened it in Inkscape, it was reported has 800*450px which is directly proportional to the DPI decrease. If you transform an image to make it smaller, then the exported SVG will have the same effect as what mentioned in point 2 above when decreasing the DPI. However, if you make the image larger instead, the exported SVG file will have no size and DPI changes. Anything mentioned above will have the SVG file having objects sizes and position shifted. (<--no way to work pixel perfectly) Exported SVG files will have some objects grouped under "Layer" while some not. So inconsistent. (<--what's the purpose of such structure? Seem to be unnecessary...) Exported SVG has bitmap objects added 1 pixel width of transparent pixel around the edges (<--so bothering when align images in SVG) It's so confusing and the export outcome is unpredictable and seemingly unnecessary.😕 Can anyone explain point 1,2,3 to me? Why Affinity make SVGs like that? Related bug 4,5,6 mentioned:

I have several file export settings defined in my own presets. I'd like to move these export presets around per preset to other systems and other Affinity software on the same machine and make copies and backups of them. I've noticed there's a file_export_options.dat file in the user-folder somewhere within AppData, but that doesn't seem to be made for (compatible) distribution and exchanging. Also with this file it's obviously impossible to export a single filepreset alone to move that to a different system or another Affinity application. Also because that *.dat-file is a binary without some Affinity recognisable extension, like pallets have for example, it's clear these are not made to exchange and we never know if using them on a different system (or newer version of Designer/Photo/Publisher with maybe more settings added to the program) have them running without problems or crashing the system. If these were xml's or json's that would be a lot easier for us to have faith in compatibility and we would be able to edit them at least, but they are not so it's on our own risk now to move these files around, which I don't really like and we're obviously not meant to do that. So I would like to see a way to export a preset to a file, like *.afFilepreset or json or xml. And to be able to import this preset from file in another Affinity application. That way we can create our preset once and copy them to other systems and Affinity products on the same machine. So we have the same presets everywhere and don't need to toggle on those settings on and off on all machines and software. I put this in the Affinity Designer forum, but the same goes for Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher. It would be great if we could also move these presets around from Designer to Photo and Publisher (on the supported file-types ofcoarse)

Dear all, I would like to compress my massive amount of JPGs in order to save some space and when I just opened up a picture in order to try out the amount of compression that would not yet show too much in the quality the following thing surprised me: The original JPG is about 4.4 MB big. If I go straight to "Export" (really don't do anything in between) and want to export it at 100% it is suddenly 9.43 MB when using Affinity Photo. When using Photo Plus X8 the "new" picture is about 8.0 MB. So it more than doubles in size just by opening in a programme and exporting it in the original format, the original resolution and at the original quality? Is it correct to assume that this is somehow because of the Resampling Method? Kind of like: I didn't do anything but the programme actually did quite a lot? And if I cannot export without resampling: Can anyone recommend a combination of Resampling Method and quality level that one the one hand don't lover the perceived quality too much but on the other hand put a good dent in the file size? Thank you very much in advance, Dreamer

Frustration!!! To take a pic from Aperture to Affinity, it's a simple drag and drop procedure. To go from Affinity back to Aperture after retouching, (I keep all my pics in Aperture from past practice) it is a multiple stage operation either by "Save" or "Export" to a selected folder in Finder, then one can drag and drop into Aperture. You cannot go directly to Aperture! WHY? Additionally, Affinity cannot be kept in the dock for immediate re-opening. It must be quit first, then reopened by clicking on the icon. All other apps. can remain in dock and a single click will open.
