  1. Right now, holding Alt+RMB+LMB lets you drag and resize the brush on the fly, which is a feature Photoshop also has. Except in Photoshop it's just hold Alt+RMB, which currently does nothing in Affinity Photo. Please change this shortcut to this for all the tools that let you change brush sizes. Not only is it easier to do, it standardizes for those who still use both PS and AF. On top of that, Photoshop has a shortcut in brush mode, clicking RMB brings up a list of brushes. Convenient, and eliminates the need to always have the brushes toolbox open.
  2. Customizing the studio space is very important, especially for small screens. Illustrator has quite an awesome feature that affinity designer is missing. You can create a second studio with minimized (icons only) panels that pop-open when clicked. This saves a lot of space but makes them much easier accessible compared to only the tabs in affinity (often you even have a scrollable tab bar). The benefit is that you can have your big panels on the very right and expand one additional panel on the inner right studio. This males working soooo much easier. It would be great if you could add this feature.
  3. Hi I had brought this up in a Designer forum, but nothing happened. It matters even more in Publisher, hence this request. I am being required to submit a PDF for web viewing (iTunes Digital Booklet) that has its Initial View options set for Full Screen. Although I can set other initial view options (zoom, facing pages etc.) in my third party reader, it seems that the Full Screen option is elusive. I cannot find any freeware app that will set Initial View to Full Screen, and It seems wasteful to buy a full-blown copy of Acrobat just to do that one thing. Please could you add a full set of Initial View options to the PDF export dialogue. It would be a valuable - and logical - addition to the program. Thanks, Alan
  4. It would be really helpful if I could copy layer effects to another layer, like in Illustrator. Copy: alt + drag the fx icon (on layer) to a new layer and the effects should be copied. Very often, e.g. when using outlined text this is necessary. Move: drag fx icon (on layer) from one layer to another layer (e.g. to move effects from a layer to parent group
  5. I know that I can duplicate a layer by cmd + drag. However this does not seem to work in the players panel. This is a very handy feature in illustrator as it allows to duplicate a layer without moving it and immediatly changing the order of it. I know I can cmd + j do duplicate and move it afterwards, but since this is a very often used thing, it makes working quite annoying. Please add this.
  6. Dear Affinity Team, I love your applications and I’m immensely happy about having an InDesign alternative now as well. However, there’s one thing that somewhat annoyed me from the beginning: for the navigation through text you chose the Adobe shortcuts instead of the native macOS shortcuts. This is rather disturbing if you’re a keyboard person and constantly using Apple’s iWorks suite as well as different text editors. As I somewhat understand that you want to make the switch easy for Adobe users, why not add the “Text shortcuts” as listed on your help site to the keyboard shortcuts customisation in the settings? You can even do this in Adobe programs. Example Moves cursor to start of word: macOS native: ⌥← (which is Text/Spacing/Tighten in Affinity or Adobe) Affinity: ⌘← (which is Moves cursor to start of line in macOS native shortcuts) I wrote something similar a few years back and I am not the only one disturbed by this. Cheers, Hagen.
  7. Since one of the more recent updates, all text in imported PDFs is converted to Text boxes rather than artistic text, irrespective of the options chosen when importing the file (i.e. 'Group lines of text into text frames' checkbox deselected). While this may be a good choice for many texts, it completely screws up the workflow for (scientific) illustrations with text labels coming from other applications. Below I have illustrated the consequences of a font change by 2.8pt if everything is imported as box vs artistic text. Please fix soon, or give option to prefer artistic text over text frames for single line texts.
  8. Hey folks, I was learning about gradient maps in this thread earlier and I was disappointed to see that in Affinity Photo 1.7.2 there's no ability to use existing gradient map swatches in a new gradient map adjustment layer (I believe currently I would have to go and add them all manually again and save them as adjustment presets). This is a feature that I use very frequently and I'd love to be able to select things from my saved swatches (especially if I can drag it in)! Many thanks!
  9. .afdesign documents are not suitable for general distribution, and embedded fonts cannot be expected on destination PCs; so we are constantly required to translate fonts to curves and then export to PDF. Given how frequently we need this feature, you can make life much easier for customers: (1) A quick-export to PDF button; (2) A checkbox that will convert to curves before export; (3) Total abolition of the troublesome "document changed" warning, considering that we need to preserve the original .afdesign without over-writing it.
  10. Hello Sir, Once again i'm sorry if somebody has requested for this feature or reported this bug... but this is too important and annoying. The use of "Esc" key in very proper way... The default use of "Esc" is "don't apply these changes and close this opened command." suppose I've opened an image, and pressed "command+m" it will open Curve Adjustment, now there is no use of "Esc" you have to manually press "close" button.. but even if i pressed close button, or clicked outside that Curves Adjustment applies.. I've to manually select that layer and delete it. and the delete button on "Curves" dialogue box is un-necessary. Secondly, if I pressed command+t it will load a big box of text, and no esc works on it and one has to close that box manually. too annoying.. "BTW try Laptops and see how difficult it becomes to move full arm from keyboard to touchpad so repeatedly. Similarly , if I used erase brush or any color brush, it pixelate image without letting me know if I really want this to happen or not. This should first ask "If i really want to pixelate it or not" And if I press "Esc" it shouldn't pixelate the image so I could do that manually (after making a backup layer). Because there is no "smart" object option in AP, so once image is "not pixelated" it is already smart object and can be scaled up or down, but once it is pixelated, all information is lost and that can't be scaled up anymore. So there should be a "confirmation" dialogue instead of "you are already killed" dialogue. And there, where escape shouldn't close the box, it is totally ruining the system. in system preferences, if I accidentally changed anything.. the press of "Esc" not only applies that, but also closes that .. OMG.. what change did I do?.. Please make "Esc" to just go to Preferences's home view and remove the "close" button and change that to "save/apply". And "close" button here and "x" button on the top are same. if some change is made, the "esc" shouldn't apply that but go to Preferences's home view. This all goes to.. "MESH TOOL", "Transform", "etc" ... "Enter/Return" to "apply" and "Esc to Cancel" I hope these changes will put some ease in life.. Thank you MacOS Catalina - 10.15 (19A602) Affinity Photo 1.7.3 Macbook Pro -mid 15, 15inch.
  11. I agree with other forum members: Affinity Publisher sorely needs cross reference functionality.
  12. Hi all, Having cancelled my Creative Suite subscription, the only Photoshop thing I miss is its ability to create keyframe animations and output them as APNG or GIF files. This is very useful for me to create little animated buttons for my 360° virtual tours. Thanks, Mark.
  13. Hi, how about being able to resize a document or canvas by typing in a percentage? I truly hope this feature can be added. - ratrogue
  14. If there’s a smoothing tool in AD, I can’t find it. If there isn’t one, I need it, as I often use it in Illustrator, and I want to phase out Adobe ASAP. I also like Astute Graphic’s plugins and will make a separate feature request for that.
  15. I've searched and can't seem to find this. When I first went in and did a "new" document, I set the inside margin at 0.375. But now I want 0.75. I manually changed all the existing masters. But when I click NEW MASTER, it retains what I said for my "new" settings and still defaults to the 0.375 margin. I want to change this globally so it now defaults to my new desires. I had this happen last week when I decided to move from an 8.25 to 8.5 page size and couldn't do a global page size change. I had to do each manually. VERY frustrating. How can I change the default global settings in an existing document to change everything globally? Thank you.
  16. On Windows, the scrolling is very sluggish and requires more scrolling of the mouse wheel than necessary. Please increase the speed at which all scrollbars move. I would like to see the "Pages" view adopt a scrolling rate of one-spread-per-wheel-click and the main document view to scroll at least 2x faster than it currently goes.
  17. I’d like to request a blur tool that varies the degree of blur between paths. Much how contour lines on a map indicate altitude, the path would set the blur radius. Not to be confused with the path blur you get in photoshop; it’s closer to a field blur, but instead of radial points it uses vector paths. I really dislike using masks on blurs as it looks unconvincing. I’ve tried other methods for realistic focal depth on a 2d image (painting my own z-depth, multi layered blurs, etc) but they are quite a lot of effort to make. I feel this method would be the quickest and easiest if only it existed! If this tool already exists somewhere/anywhere, please let me know! I’ve tried to illustrate the idea below (excuse the lame character)...
  18. Hello everyone, Currently you can use 'simple' math calculations in the transform panel. Lets say I have an item with with: 500px, when I type in 50% in the 'width' box it scales it to 250px. I would like to suggest a CSS 'calc' like thing. For instance, the same box, that I can type in 50% - 15px that it will create an item of 235px.
  19. I'm sure that I'm not alone in wanting this feature. Coming from a background of working in Photoshop (I'm not really a vector-person), I absolutely love using Affinity Designer's Pixel Persona. The organic/natural media-esque brushes have always been my go-to, and I've been using them in Designer a bunch. On the flip side, I use the Draw Persona more for layout and lettering. For this reason I think it would be really handy to have the Magic Wand Tool (the same as in Photo) in the Designer Pixel Persona. So far the selection brush doesn't really do the trick, and using the lasso (while very useful) to manually select areas can become a bit tedious. Just putting this out there for consideration.
  20. I don't know if there is a theory behind this action or not. I will be making file sizes and dimension up for this example and this process works for me when going to print photos. I hope it's easy to follow. 1. Let's say I have an image that is 5x8 at 1200 ppi and is 5MB in size. In photoshop the resize window shows width, height, ppi, and size in MB. I can alter the dimensions or ppi and photoshop will interactively recalibrate the overall size of the file. 2. If I want to use the photo at a larger size I will alter the H x W as large as I can and still retain the file size at 5MB. I try to resize photos at 300 ppi for archival purposes but I know that I can resize the photo up to a minimum of 188 ppi for printing. So for this example, say I rescale at 8 x10 @ 200ppi (again I'm making these numbers up). It always creates a photo that's printable without pixelization. As long as I retain the overall size of the file at 5MB it has worked for me. 3. The interactive adjustment of the dimensions and file size would be a great feature. Also AP's resize window does not show which value is the width and which is the height . . . Thanks.
  21. When using the frequency separation dialogue, it would be great to be able to chose the type of blur to apply: Gaussian, Median or Bilateral, since each as a different effect on the edges. Thank you
  22. Hello world, I seem unable to place page content in between the elements of the master Page, i.e. have some Master Page layer always on top of Page elements/layers, and other Master Page layer always below Page elements/layers. This is easily achieved in e.g. InDesign (and Scribus for that matter), so I am curious whether I am doing something utterly wrong or whether this is a missing feature (which I hereby request). Greetings, --Thomas
  23. Sometimes I ungroup elements that had constraints or just simply wish to remove those constraints changes. When I want to do it I have to click and unclick all the constraints that I know I have on the selected layers. A "Reset Constraints" button would make that a much easier endeavour.
  24. I've just gotten into using Affinity for responsive UI designs. It's quite great! (when it's not doing the constraint group bug that moves the contents somewhere else entirely or when it breaks Symbols if your top level layers in that symbols have constraints added). What I have found out, however, is that many times I'd like to make an iterative symbol, just for a select group of symbols to have some elements missing and some stuff placed somewhere else. While one could delete all but one object of that query and do the modifications in that one then duplicate that one, it's cumbersome and is quite difficult with large batches of objects (and it'd also need to be repeated for any other major changes in that object). Thus I request having a Detach to separate symbol feature (that can work on multiple copies of the same symbol selected).
  25. At present, Publisher does not seem to offer different preview modes; all documents must be viewed as "spreads" in their final layout. But this makes it harder to perform a final check of the text and contents. Please consider providing alternative preview / viewing modes (like PagePlus does); particularly the ability to view all pages as a single vertical stream. This would allow the user to zoom in enough to read / check the text and then to progress through the pages of a booklet by simply scrolling vertically... rather than having to zig-zag: down... up... across... down... in order to read facing pages. Checking and performing the final tweaks to a multi-page booklet would be made very much more convenient.
