  1. I would be nice if I could select nodes by area like Adobe Illustrator. Selecting one by one is pain sometimes.
  2. Hey there, today, I set out to do a piece of environment art in Affinity Photo to see if it can hold up against PS. Unfortunately, it showed right away that a lot of my repetitive tasks require quite a few extra steps compared to my usual workflow. I have multiple renderings in the same resolution and want to drop them into one file but Affinity does not center dropped images so I have to drop, move and snap every image to the canvas. Since there are no smart objects in Affinity, I understand that the list of possible drag & drop features is rather short but an automatic centering option would be a big help. Thank you in advance! Sorry for typos, it's getting very late and my eyes are closing ^.^ TLDR: Is there a way to have dropped images (e.g. from the explorer) center automatically? Affinity Photo 1.7.3 on Win 7 Take care, Dziga
  3. I just updated to Affinity Photo 1.7.2 When I drag a .jp2 file into my document, the entire program just quits on me. I then get the notification that Affinity Photo quit unexpectedly. ***works fine when draggin .png and .jpg files into a doccument*** I'm using MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 Attached is a video of what happens. 2019-08-28 09-42-43.mp4
  4. For some strange reason I cannot move the images or resize them when in Affinity Designer. Is not the first time it happens. I tried to paste an image from Affinity Photo and them when I paste it in A-Designer it didn't appear, then I was trying to move the rest of the images and was impossible (you can see the image of the afro woman, I was truing to drag it and couldn't, the move tool was creating a selection rectangle like if the image didn't existed or was blocked which it wasn't but the weirdest thing is that you could see the limits of the picture. This only happens with bitmap layers since with vectors is all normal.
  5. I have been working on graphic novels, which has had me regularly hopping from one persona to another, and using a constant input mix of touch screen, surface pen, mouse and touchpad (version 1.7.2 of Photo, Design, Publisher, on Microsoft Surface Laptop with latest W10). Here are some input issues that I have encountered. - Sometimes Publisher just stops taking drags. Can choose layers, objects or menu items, but can not resize, draw lines or move anything that involves a mouse drag. Restarting the program sometimes helps, sometimes I need to restart the computer. - Sometimes when I use a menu item such as the opacity slider, the program takes no further inputs before I click the slider away, as if the slider was a popup window with priority. - Sometimes I can not select a specific object or menu item with a specific input device. I have found no consistency with this, bus basically I try to click on something and it won't register the input, so I try my options of mouse and touch inputs until I find the one that was somehow required. This feels like a hardware issue for all I know, but has not happened in other programs. - Pasting an image from clipboard creates the layer with the intended image, but I can find no trace of the image on the work area. I resolve this by saving the image and placing it from the file. - Placing an image sometimes doesn't give a preview as I drag the mouse to shape the area, and often resizes or even rotates the image. I found no way to help this but readjusting the image. - Not a bug but there is no touch scroll for the Pages view, this has me regularly selecting and throwing pages about with my thumb. Thanks for the otherwise great programs!
  6. Kudos on the great app. This is a fairly basic ease of use suggestion... When you are dragging a selection box/circle or dragging out a shape, it'd be splendid if holding down the spacebar would move the selection/object. This makes it easy to get an exact selection... or enables you to size and position in one simple move saving a lot of futzing and keeping you in flow. This interaction can be found while taking a native screenshot on your mac (shift+cmd+4+drag... + hold spacebar) or on all the other drawing apps made by the company named after dirt bricks.... and Affinity is better than dirt bricks' products.
  7. Hi, AD 1.7, I think it's a new bug for me as I don't recall seeing this before. Couple of layers [also have 4 artboards]. The layer being dragged is set to erase. Dragging the layer on the canvas with the move tool makes the layer jump up in the layers palette. Have attached a movie that illustrates this. Watch the layer in the layers palette jump position. 8. Hi everybody, Here I am with another noob question. How do I create a marquee selection from the centre, rather than the corner while dragging? I will use Photoshop again as an example: to create the selection from the centre I just hold "ALT" and then drag. If I want it with constrained proportions and create from the centre simultaneously, then I just hold "Shift + ALT" and drag. This is a very important feature. Again, thanks in advance to anyone answering my question!
  9. Hi, im new to Affinity and I like it a lot. In photoshop when you drag a file from folder directly onto a canvas youre working on - it resizes to the same size as canvas which is very convenient In Affinity photo when you drag it it keeps its original size and its very painful to resize it each time. Also sometimes it simply gets pasted somewhere outside the canvas and its not even easy to locate it. Is there any way to drag the file onto canvas and make it resize to fit it?
  10. Experimenting with frame text in Affinity Publisher Beta, it does not seem possible to select a portion of text, and then drag and drop that selection from one place to another within a story. Of course, one can always cut, move the cursor, and then paste; but it would be useful to simply select -- say -- an entire paragraph, or a sentence, and drag-and-drop it to a new location.
  11. Hey everyone! In the top right corner, the color picker can be dragged to increase and decrease brightness. Personally, I am disabling the UI a lot (button next to color picker) and it would be helpful if there was an option to disable this feature to prevent unintentional color change. Best wishes, Shu
  12. Hi, Following MEB's advice I've been creating my own assets for a project, but the suggestion of dragging elements from the canvas/artboard to the Assets panel doesn't seem to work on Windows. When I drag the element to the assets panel it is placed on the document and does not appear over the Assets panel as would be expected from a drag action. "Add from selection" from the category pop-up menu works as expected. Thanks
  13. Is there the equivalent of a Hand Tool or possibility of adding it (as there exists in Photo) where one could grab and move the document, instead of using scroll bars? Thank you.
  14. Whenever I use Quick Look to preview a file using spacebar from a save/place/export dialog window, I cant close the preview. It seems that Publisher let's you use spacebar to open the preview, but later it reclaims the spacebar for itself, so i must use the mouse to close the preview. I can see, each time that i push the spacebar to close, that Publisher is using it as drag modifier, despite being in a open dialog. Procedure: File > place… - Select a file and press spacebar to preview - unable to use spacebar again to close preview.
  15. Hi, title says it all, restart did the trick, but I just thought I'd let you know! Was a very small, new file, literally a couple of shapes in a layer group. I made a new blank layer that I was going to use as a background but was unable to drag the new layer down in the Layer Panel so that it was underneath the group. In fact I was unable to render layers by dragging at all. The file started life as an eps from shutter stock if that helps any? Thanks Wayne
  16. An Option-drag of a selected object on Mac mostly causes the selected object to be duplicated after it gets released. I'd appreciate to use this GUI behave in Affinity. On document page view and in Layers panel, too.
  17. Affinity Photo Mac 1.6.6 1. Make a new file 2. From Finder (or similar) drag an image into the new file. 3. Press W for Flood Selection tool and try to select a portion of the new layer 4. Unresponsive? Nothing Select? 5. Press B for Brush and draw a quick blob of pixel paint onto the image 6. Press W, back to Flood Section and again try to select anything 7. You can now select! So the FS tool is completely unresponsive to a new layer that has been dragged in from elsewhere until the layer has some pixel data forced upon it? Have just tested the same with Place rather than dragging, and the bug is still present. Thanks Wayne
  18. I'm not entirely sure if this is a bug or a feature in Affinity Designer. But every time I drag a shape while holding command in order to copy the shape (while moving it) and then undoing that action, I've noticed that Affinity doesn't really undo that action. It still leaves a copy of that shape on top of the previous shape. For example, I command drag a shape in order to copy and move it. After undoing that action, one would think the shape is gone but then it's not. This isn't the case in illustrator and it's always throwing me off because I end up with multiple copies of the shape on top of each other. Any help or comment appreciated. Thanks!
  19. There's a small problem when resizing an object by dragging the handlers. When you use the corner handlers, sometimes you have to hold SHIFT to resize an object proportionally, other times you have to avoid holding SHIFT to resize it proportionally. Every time it's different Cheers, Chris
  20. Hi guys, When using Frame Text, is it possible to have it simply resize to the words content horizontally? Like simply keep one line, and have the text go as much as you want horizontally, without having to drag the text handler to make the frame wider, to avoid the text going on a new line. Thanks, Chris
  21. The ability to import brushes or founts by just dragging them onto the app is a feature that is needed. Example. 1. drag a brush from Files onto affinity Photo and it will directly import the brush.
  22. Hi! Since I updated Designer to 1.6.x I've been getting pretty constant blue screens when moving shapes between groups and layers. The most recent one happened when moving a shape between a few levels of nesting (Artboard > Group > Layer > Layer > Group > Shape). The document I've been working at is at around 75 MB. The crash is always happening while I am dragging the shape inside the tree, before I get to release the mouse button. My system has 16 gigs of RAM, Xeon E3-1231v3 and Nvidia GF GTX 770. Windows 10 Pro 64bit, Nvidia's driver v388.59 (crashed also with previous version) and Affinity Designer 1.6.2.97 (crashed also with 1.6.1.93). The BSOD itself reports a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION in win32kfull.sys. The crashes started to happen only after updating Designer to 1.6.x from 1.5.x and I get no crashing with other programs or games so I thought I would ask here if anyone has any ideas.
  23. This is a bug in the floating windows handling .... it's hardly impossible to resize a floating window in AP .... please check and work on this! See attached video! It seems this does not occur on developers machines - elswise that would have been taken care of long time ago ... it is close to impossible to change the windows dimensions! (In conjunction with the desasterous floating windows handling in AP please check this for improvement!) - there are people out there that really try to USE your SW - professionally ... please keep that in mind ... and don't igore their workflow needs! Cheers, Timo window resize.mp4
  24. When zoomed in on a photo and I click and drag the image the image moves with the mouse. That is, if I drag the mouse the the left the image moves to the left. Let's say there is an object in an image and I want that object to be in the center of my screen then I simply click on the object in the image and drag the object to the center of the screen. This is good. This is the expected behaviour. However, when editing in an Equirectangular Projection (Live Projection) when I drag the mouse to the left the image goes to the right. If I drag up the object goes down. So if there is a object I want to center on my screen if I drag the object to the center the object actually goes the opposite direction. So some people might like this opposite direction behaviour and that's their choice. I would like it that I can select which direction the image moves when I click and drag the image when editing an Equirectangular Projection. Basically I want the click and drag to work just like normal. Click and drag an object upwards moves object upwards. This could be a selection under preferences > User Interface > Equirectangular Projection Reverse Mouse Direction OR use a modifier key such as alt or option. Thanks millions if you can make this happen. AffinityPhotoEquirectangular.mp4
  25. What I did… 1. Hold Control and click-drag on an object, as if creating a copy. 2. Before releasing the mouse button, press Escape to abort the operation. 3. The copy is created despite the operation being aborted! This may be 'by design', but I find it counter-intuitive. 4. Now select a different object. The blue outline shifts to the new selection, and the selected object in the layers panel changes… BUT the transform handles remain on the previously selected object. 5. Move the transform handles, and the selected object is targeted, but the transform is mirrored!
