  1. I was wondering if I could propose support for DDS files. I did a forum search and couldn't find any existing feature requests for this. I do heavy graphics design and texturing in PC games I play and most all of them use DDS file formats for the textures. As far as 3D Luts and tonemapping go this program has it covered. I moved over from GIMP to this and was more than willing to pay the $$$ for the app because of the ease of use and light learning curve associated with the application and so, so many features when the aformentioned things are compared to GIMP (in its' defense it is free though). But to be able to do texture editing and things of that sort for gaming graphic desings I need to be able to open, edit, and export DDS in their various compressions and formats. I know you support some PS plugins but from what I've found through searches on Goolge this program sdoesn't support the PS DDS plugin; not to mention it's a Nvidia based plugin and I use AMD GPUs. If you could support DDS natively it would be greatly appreciated. Right now I'm using Affinity Photo for everything else but GIMP still for DDS. GIMP, btw, has a DDS pluging that is independent of Nvidia or AMD. If memory serves correctly all of their stuff is open source as well. Here's the link to their plugin if your team woulsd be interested in taking a look at its' mechanics and possibly incorporating something similar into Affinity. Also, there's a link for a plugin that does normal maps. That is another very common and needed texture present in PC games. DDS Plugin Normal Map Plugin
  2. It's my own mistake, but I upgraded at significant cost to myself and my situation in the hope that the long requested feature of DDS support in Photo/Designer would have been done as part of the 2.0 feature set. Yet to my frustration I find that it's still been ignored. This is such an important feature for those working with games on cross-platform that I can't underestimate it's significance. PLEASE ADD SUPPORT ASAP.
  3. The more I work with Affinity Photo, the more I like it. There's a couple of things that keeps me from leaving Photoshop still, and one of those things are very important for me when I create game assets. I need DDS export. Plain and simple. (but I guess it's not plain and simple to develop that feature.. ) What I need is either the nVidia Photoshop plugin to work with Affinity Photo, or a built in DDS export feature in which I could select different things like I think these types of DDS are the most common. DXT1, DXT3, DXT5 and 3DC. Why DDS? Because it's a pre-compiled/compressed image format which is loaded to the GPU at runtime. Some game-engines can handle this conversion when you import a TGA, PNG or what have you, while others require you do this before importing to the game engine. In the case of making mods, you don't usually have access to the game engine the game is using directly as a developer, and you're bound to making these DDS files prior to testing the asset in-game. Please consider this, Affinity! I know a many hobbyists, modders or even developers who'd most likely get Affinity Photo because of this feature alone, because they won't pay a monthly fee to get Photoshop.
  4. DDS file Export Request for PC. May I suggest you add export to DDS file - DirectDraw Surface (DDS), to your program. Many People use this type of file in gaming to place textures on models / objects. If this is already in the program please let me know and where it is located to export. Thank You.
  5. I'm having trouble understanding how alpha channels work in Affinity Photo. Just like TGA and DDS export, this is yet another thing that is forcing me to keep other software around to get my work done. It's simply like this: I have an image file, it's got RGB and alpha channels. I load the image in Affinity Photo, I see "composite alpha" with the list of channels, but it is completely white. It shouldn't be. To check the file I load it in Photoshop, and see it appears as expected. Where am I going wrong? Or is Affinity Photo simply not up for the task?
  6. Hy, First I would like to say thanks for such a wonderful SW that you've made. Our artists were waiting for something like Affinity Photo for years. But we've got a major problem. We already own 30+ PS subscription and it was nearly sure that we will cancel them and use AP in production, but currently as I see it can't handle DDS file format, which is a major problem for us. We have a self developed engine, and to be able to modify the textures we need that feature. There's a PS plugin, that was made by an nvidia developer : https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop We use that in PS, tried to set the plugin directory in AP but it doesn't work. Is there any chance that the we will be able to use the plugin in the near future? Or to have native support for DDS file formats? Thanks for your answer!
  7. Hello Affinity Team, could TGA(with Alpha channel support) please get added as an export option?
