  1. Being able to customize shortcuts would be incredibly useful, but if that is not posible then a Mixer brush shortcut would be nice, I use the Mixer brush quite often, and I also use the eye dropper as often, however having a shortcut for the eye dropper seems redundant to me, as I have to touch the screen again for the mixer brush, so I had an idea Have the Alt/Option key change the shortcut thing B : Brush Alt+B : Pixel Brush Alt+B * 2 : Mixer Brush Alt+B * 3 : Colour replacement Brush And if the "- * 2" or "- * 3" cant be coded in, lets instead use the other keys we have, "alt + shift + [key]", "alt + ctrl + [key]", "shift + ctrl + [key]" Thank you

    15 Free Custom Acrylic Brushes

Hello! So I have created some brushes for a project of mine, and decided that I could as well share them with the community. They are made from actual paint strokes, and some are black with some textured bits (bits of white) and some are plain grey, meaning that they will take the colour (I hope it makes sense! :) ) See sample sheet below. I am a bit new to this, so any feedback appreciated. If I can improve the user experience, I will.... Custom_acrylic_brushes_V1.afbrushes
  3. Hello there, I am looking to know if there is a way to create small publication documents. For example. If i have a sheet of labels ( 4 across by 6 down) I can create a document sized for one label and print an entire page from that one document or alternatively create 4 pages and print 4 different designs onto a single page. Something like can be seen in the attached image. Thanks
  4. I am trying to make a custom grid in Affinity Designer. The measurements are important :6 pixels wide evenly along the x axis. The y axis requires a bit more work: 6 pixels, 8 pixels, 6 pixels, 6 pixels, 8 pixels, 6 pixels ... and so on. The grid manager lets me go so far. In order to get the 6 pixels, I actually make the vertical spacing 12, and add in a divider. I have to add a 8 pixel gutter. It looks right, but it fails to line up. Here is my grid, and you’ll see that the drawing tool locks somewhere where it shouldn’t. And again: You’ll also notice that the first row at the top on the grid isn’t even zeroed (the origin is correctly set). The yellow dot indicates where the pen tool is pointing, BTW. So, if I draw some shapes using grid snapping, I get this: Which isn’t what I want. So, I end up having to use guides to create the grid I actually want, which causes more hassle (and is very longwinded and tedious to set up). In order to get spot on positioning, I have to use the guides manager to place the guides at exact locations. Guides clearly don’t do sub-divisions, so I can’t clearly see how each 12x20 block is split up. So, the questions are: 1 - Is this a bug? Why is the grid not snapping correctly? How can I make it so that the tools snap to the lines, and nothing else? I’ve used Snap Manager to only set snap to grid on. 2 - How can I create an irregular grid spacing without resorting to using guttering? 3 - How can I get the grid to start to coordinates 0,0? Right now, it looks like I’m losing top left positioning by about 2 or 3 pixels vertically? Thanks.
  5. I'm doing some Digital speed painting in Photo and I developed a workaround for the lack of a custom shapes tool like the one in Photoshop. I Lay out my rough sketch and colors in Photo, then I go to File > Edit in Designer, where I have set up some categories in the Assets Panel for my custom shapes. I have to place a few of my textures and shapes into the canvas and then I have to go back to File > Edit in Photo. Once I'm back in Photo I can use the Mesh Warp Tool to warp the textures how I want them. My request is to have the Assets panel in Photo also so I don't have to jump back and forth. That way I can add and warp all in the same program. Sometimes once I start to warp the textures I notice that I forgot something and I have to jump back over to Designer just to grab a single texture, then back to Photo to warp. For speed painting, it's a pretty big step to add to the workflow. If the Assets Panel is added to Photo, I don't think that there will be a need for a Custom Shapes Tool.
  6. Hey guys, a simple tutorial that shows how you can create custom pattern brushes that you can use for creating borders or decorations. My Youtube Channel
  7. I'm not sure whether there are common 'regulations' regarding how much baseline shift and font sizing to apply to a superscript/subscript character, but I always find the defaults are not quite the amount I'm looking for! Is there any chance you can add some options to the superscript and subscript buttons in the Character panel? I often find myself adding custom styles to parts of a text block just to get a slightly different super/subscript effect, rather than using the buttons, but then when I want to change the whole paragraph size a little I obviously end up losing the super/subscript.
  8. I would like to use a custom graphic as a bullet in a bulleted list. Is anyone familar with a way to make a jpeg image a custom bullet? Thanks, Steve
  9. Doesn't seem to be possible - or am I just being stupid …? Also could there be a way - if there isn't already to layer shapes on top of a photo…? I'm redecorating my bedroom at the moment and I've laboriously converted all the colours I'm considering into RGB and Hex values, I just need a way of playing around with them. I don't see any way of adding additional swatches to a palette (it is almost 03:30 though, but I do better at night). Yes, I know that screen colours are not going to be the same as the actual paint (wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a way of reconciling them somehow, some kind of intermediary colour space).I've already found that one green I was considering was far bluer 'in the flesh' than it was on Dulux's website.
  10. Hello, I’ve searched through existing posts (see short list below) but it’s not clearly stated if those requests have been added to the development list or out of consideration. (They don’t appear to be reflected in the roadmap unless I’m missing a reference.) Is it possible to get clarification as to whether Affinity has plans to support: Ability to import Photoshop and Illustrator 'Preset' files / styles: Most Important:Gradients: .grd file extension Styles: .asl file extension Patterns: .pat file extensionIncluding preset pattern fills (related post by someone else is referenced below) Moderately important but could live without:Color Swatches: .aco file extension Custom Shapes: .csh file extension I have a huge library of the above (gradients, styles, and patterns in particular) that I'd rather not lose (or have to recreate) by switching to Affinity Designer. Somewhat-related forum posts: Import .ase and .aco files: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/1483-import-palette…-importing-ase-and-aco-files/ Import Photoshop and vector brushes: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/532-import-photoshop-and-vector-brushes/ Vector pattern fills, custom vector brushes, dotted lines: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/1913-vector-pattern-fills-custom-vector-brushes-dotted-lines/ (This one in particular, it’s stated that vector pattern fills are not yet in the roadmap; does that mean that it’s out of consideration, or just that it’s not coming in the near future?) Thank you for any clarification you can provide. Regards, --S
  11. I was working today on Publisher and created a custom text frame for my text. When the frame is deselected I can see a very thin white-ish line where it was. It remained there when I exported it as a pdf. I tried creating a test custom frame on another page and it did the same thing. Please see the screen shot. The text frame does NOT show on regular, rectangular text boxes; that is working fine. Am I missing something? Or is this a bug. I've been looking for the text frame border options and I either made the stroke transparent or the same color as the background, but it turns out I was working with the text itself. 12. Hello, is there a way to add custom artboard sizes? I see affinity designer have some presets but they are all for screens, I want to add paper sizes. Thanks!
  13. Hello! Is there anywhere I can download more tone map presets? Thank you so much!
  14. Hi! Is there anyway I can save a custom page preset as a template? For example, Facebook Page Cover template, Instagram Post template, Business Cards template, etc. with different sizes for each template. I'm currently using Affinity Designer desktop. I've tried to find answers and had no luck. Did find this but it did not have the solution: Please let me know - this would be such a huge help!
  15. I'm pretty sure there are other requests for this, but being able to save window arrangements/layouts into custom workspaces is a pretty essential feature. I use Photoshop and Illustrator, but will sometimes use Affinity Designer and Photo for fun. My Illustrator is CS6, so I'll often use Designer to at least convert my AI vector to a more modern/stable copy or just design it in Designer if I don't need to use the Illustrator features I'm use to using. Having to rearrange my windows every time or make due with the default layout everytime I switch to an Affinity program is extremely cumbersome. On the whole, I love the programs Serif Labs have put out and think they're extremely functional and promising. It's fun and exciting to see how they're progressing and I hope they continue developing like they've been doing
  16. How do I export custom brushes or the entire custom brush category to have a backup copy and improve it to other devices? I see how to import brushes in the brushes studio but I don’t see a way to import them. Thanks, Larry
  17. Hi, while working with colors (reds,yellows,magentas.... HSL....) I am still missing the possibility to choose a range of colors I want to be working with. Something like a slider on the color line (do not want to describe more as it is a common feature in PS....). It is very useful Please.... Jindra
  18. I am sure there is a simple solution to this, but I can't figure it out. When creating a custom brush, in this case a metal tube, the outcome is no in color. Is this be design or is there something in the settings that I am missing? In the attached image the curved pipe is the one I created using the brush. The other images are what the brush was created from and of course a screen shot of the brush settings.
  19. I want to suggest a feature for the iPad version of Affinity Photo. I would like some options to customize the workspace to my liking and be able to save it for later use. I wish I could customize the panels by dragging into them the tools & shortcuts that I use most and removing the ones I rarely use. This would allow me to create a workspace that suits my workflow, which is very important for working quickly and having an enjoyable experience when using the program. A custom workspace can be useful to anyone and it may be different according to the type of project that someone is working on.
  20. One thing that always bothered me about the adobe suite was the lack of options for organizing typography so I had to look through lots of fonts to find the one I was looking for if I didn't remember the name of it off the to of my head. It would be awesome if fonts could be organized into folders of my choice so that I could put decorative fonts in one folder, favorite fonts in another, sans serif, serif etc... Having an organized font system would improve my workflow immensely as a graphic designer. As it is now with illustrator picking fonts is a nightmare. (All this would be in the font drop down.)
  21. When using my self-created brushes on mask layers, each intensity brush image dab (or whatever the proper technical term is) is surrounded by a square shape. The attached image is an example of my problem. This does not occur with any of the default intensity (I assume) brushes that came with the application, only custom/downloaded brushes. I followed the instructions for custom brush creation found in the help files. Then I followed all of the recommendations I discovered here in the forums and on YouTube: square image, PNG file type, 300dpi, both black on white and transparent backgrounds. Each attempt resulted in block-surrounded image dabs. Affinity Photo has shown iPad Pro users the way forward, as well as the way around the Company of the Big Red "A". Hopefully we have returned the favor via the App Store. It's time to help us further by updating the documentation and tutorial videos concerning the creation and use of custom brushes. Thanks!
  22. In Affinity Photo (I expect this is the same for Designer), the Export Persona has a number of options for sizes in for the slices. For example, I can choose 1x or 2x, 100w, and other sizes. Nowhere can I say “export to a width of my choosing”. So I can’t scale an image to, say, 900px this way. If I go to File>Export, I can. However, as the Export persona seems to retain that data, AND I could technically get it to export more than one size per slice, I’d like to see custom dimensions in the export options in the Export Persona too, please.
  23. I've got another request: Please implement a function to print the keyboard shortcuts. That's especially useful for people who like to customize their keyboard shortcuts. I know I can always look them up in the menu but if we had a possibility to print a list we could simply put the printed list somewhere, e.g. on the wall behind the monitor. That's far more intuitive than having to look the shortcuts up every time we don't remember a specific one. Another solution would be to store the keyboard shortcuts as plain text file, this way we could simply open the file in any text editor and print the list.
  24. Is there a way to create a custom brush that mimics the symbol brush in Illustrator? For instance, if I wanted to create rows of lines, is there a way to easily brush these pre-created lines as a texture?
  25. With the amount of awesome brushes being created for the community, it is becoming clear that the need to organize and separate out favourite brushes is the logical next step. Not sure how best to do this, and maybe just concentrating on the brushes panel for now, as opposed to an "app wide" solution might be the way to go. A simple "save as favourite" system would be a good start, eventually with the ability to move, group and reorganize in one panel or even multiple panels or panel sub structure for various workflows - texturing, blocking, detailing, dots etc....?
