  1. For some reason Affinity has stopped allowing me to enter the copyright symbol using Alt 0169 on the number pad. It was because Numlock was turned off.
  2. Hi, Ive just come across a bug while entering IPTC metadata on an image. I accidentally hit the Creative Commons drop down and the list appears and set to one of the provided regulations but when I realised I tried to reset it to None only for the list not to reset properly. Although I can see None in the list it will not let me reset it to None. I’ve made numerous attempts, including rebooting the iPad but it won’t reset. I am a professional and need all my work to show as Copyrighted, I don’t release anything under the Creative Commons regulations. Although I see a tick box for Public Domain there is nothing for copyrighted material. Normal professional IPTC editing software, such as PhotoMechanic, or even Photoshop, allows the user to select a copyrighted option. I don’t see that facility within Affinity Photo. It may appear minor to some users, but real pros need the ability to assert copyright within their images, otherwise the software is pretty much useless to them. Any help gratefully appreciated kind regards Paul Saxby
  3. Offering Stock Images is a great feature. When using Unsplash as source the Copyright Credits pop up as Info. Would be perfect to streamline the production process by generating an automatic text object with this credit content. Up to now I have to make a screenshot quickly before it desappears. Maybe as an option checkbox directly in the top area of the stock panel? If checked, Object will be generated in the center of the picture on top of it. PowerPoint 2019 has solve it already like that. After selecting content from an online source and inserting it into a PowerPoint slide an additional editable object below the picture with copyright credits appears. Thanks.
  4. I was excited to learn about the metadata editing feature. I have a standalone product that does it, but it is really cumbersome. However, there are some things that Affinity Photo 1.8.0.585 (currently the most recent version for me) isn't doing, and I am wondering if I am missing something, or if it is just not there yet. I am using a Windows PC. I have entered data in all of the fields on the File page, I left EXIF alone, IPTC (Image) I entered my name for Credit, IPTC (Contact) I entered Country and Website. For the Rights, I don't intend to put this image in the Public Domain, nor allow Creative Commons use. So I did not check Public Domain and set CC to none. I did fill out Attribution URL and Attribution Name. In the Statement box I tried to put my entire copyright notice, but there is a field limit size so it doesn't all fit. When I look at Detail, it seems to imply that I have given this image Creative Commons rights, not left it at none. All of the other data seems to be what I entered, only the problem with the short Statement field in the Rights section. I exported my image, which was not nearly instant as usual, I had a progress bar and it took 30 - 45 sec or so. (I have only one layer) Right click / Details of the image shows me none of the information that I entered in Affinity Photo. It looks exactly like the Details from the image before I added the metadata. I did check that when I re opened the image with metadata in Affinity Photo, the new data was there. In comparison, my other metadata editor (Using a different image) shows about 3 pages of information, including Title, Subject, Rating, Tags, Author, and Copyright. Is there something that I missed to get all of this information to show when someone checks the details of the image? Do I just have to leave the rights page blank so that my image is not assumed to be creative commons? Can the Statement field be longer? Thank you!
  5. hello, I am new here. I bought affinity fror mac as an alternative to the very expansive Adobe lease. Now i want to give in the meta-data for a photo wghioch I have scanned or made into the file ,e.g. author, title, copyright and source. You can I do this? I didn't find any information about this topic. It would be wonder full if someone could give me an answer.
  6. After exporting illustrations from Photo as JPG files, I switch over to bridge and fill in metadata such as description, keywords and copyright. I thought, at some point it would be cool to add IPTC data in Photo directly, and have that attached to all files that support it, like JPG.
  7. Hi. I am sorry if this has been asked before but I have searched the forum and cannot find an answer for this. I have been happily using AP for several months and learning lots, and have now got to a stage where I am finalising several bits of work. When I work in Photoshop before going further I would go to File Info and then add the image info such as title, description, relevant searchable keywords, and then add all my copyright info and my url, so once it goes out my image has relevant metadata attached to it to help protect it and identify it should people need to contact me. I cannot find out how I do this ANYWHERE in AP and it is a basic but really critical element to the process. Please can someone advise me where and how I access the file info section for images so I can add this information. I have even converted AP images into jpegs etc and searched that way in case this option only becomes visible with more recognised file types but with no luck. I cannot believe a programme as smart as Affinity has not built this in, as in this day and age it is really important to protect your copyright and also allow your image to become searchable with key words. Thanks in advance for your help
  8. Hi, I'm new on Affinity. Does it have the possibility for making a signature on the photos to protect the copyrights?
  9. Is this the DIN Condensed font a copyright-free font?
  10. I cant work out how to import a photo into affinity photo. ?? Also, I use adobe bridge and camera raw as I am photojournalist. How can one batch process and Copyright etc etc. WE NEED A PROPER MANUAL!!!!!!
  11. Incorporation copyright information, image title and information, would be extremely useful. Capture One Pro 9 is very good on that
  12. Hi, As you are no doubt beavering away at making Affinity products even better (and I can't wait to hear of any update on any DAM and DTP products, hint ;) ;) ), maybe it's time to throw this into the mix: meta data handling. Especially those that work commercially need to make sure their meta data is set correctly as that often influences how the work is archived, retrieved, distributed and sold. This means different things in different formats (in PNG and JPG it would be stored in PCT/EXIF tags, but PDF has quite a few fields too), but there are some common themes: artist/author, copyright holder and maybe distribution. Where possible a freeform field would be good where the meta format allows, because you could use that for library markings (which could help with a DAM retrieval mode, for instance). To use this, you'd need facilities to set and edit these fields, and a way to template an optional default. At present there's nothing for that in the AD/AP export facilities so you end up having to reprint/edit PDFs and run the venerable exiftool over images to add the data. Cheers! PS: I'll be in London next week - if any of you guys venture into town I'll buy you a beer :P
  13. ... workflow speaking, otherwise that makes Affininity Photo unusable for photographs in the long run.
