  1. Is there a way to convert a Pen Tool path you make into a selection. There is a selection from layer I can do, but I would like to just convert the path into a selection, without having to create extra layers.
  2. Inline objects vanish when converting its parent text to a curve.
  3. Hi, I am looking for free presets to use with AP. Is there a place/site to get that? Have been working with presets for years now in LR and have a lot of them but since I jumped from LR to AP I am out of presets and can’t use my more than hundred presets. Or is there maybe a way to transform LR presets to Affinity Photo. I am not using LUTs much because its not as powerful as presets. (Basically, a LUT targets a narrower set of image parameters to change (color and tone). A preset, on the other hand, can adjust a much wider range of image parameters, things like exposure, sharpening and vignetting. … ) Thanks. WITH LIGHTROOM PRESET ORIGINAL PIC.
  4. Granted it took Adobe something like 20 years to put this feature into Illustrator, so I'm not expecting this to appear overnight, but is there a way to convert between these two kinds of text types?
  5. [Designer] Hi, Is there another way to convert nodes, other than going to the Pen or Node Tool's Contextual (horizontal) Toolbar, and pressing buttons? Like, shortcuts for: Convert to Sharp or Smooth node? Or Reverse Curve? I already have keyboard shortcuts for Close and Break Curve – whose toolbar buttons are right beside the Convert ones. But those are the only Pen or Node Tool shortcuts I could find in the Prefs. Two related things I would love: - A way to 'pull' Control Handles out of a sharp node (or pop them back in to make a sharp point), via some modifier key(s) with the node tool. (Like: after-the-fact editing of a path, not while drawing it.) and - When you're manipulating one of a node's Control Handles, for a certain modifier key(s) to cause its opposing handle do the exact same thing – i.e., stay in perfect symmetry/mirror image. Including, on a non-smooth node, the control handle angle. That would be _so_ handy! (It's available with 3rd party Illustrator plugins) Thanks for your attention! - pbass
  6. When converting to EPS I will often get a white background that can not be cleared on many elements. Text is the most problematic. This is causing issues as I need to be able to convert my file for an AI end user, and all editable conversions have inadequate outcomes. I have attached the AD files for you to look at and one example of the poor output. Buff Circ New Logo- Black 4.0.afdesign White buafflo new.afdesign
  7. The functionality to switch between artistic and frame text would be a great addition to Designer... Illustrator's implementation of doing this (double click a specific node on a text object, or right click > convert to...) is a perfect example on how it should be handled. Here's a thread with a whole bunch of other people wanting this as well.
  8. Hi all I am fairly new to affinity designer and this kind of software on general. I drew a shape using the pencil tool and without realizing what expand stroke does I selected it. Is there a way to undo this? I tried selecting all and converting to curves and I tried using the divide option but so far nothing. Thanks!
  9. Is there a simple way to convert a straight line segment into a curved one with smooth nodes, without affecting the neighbour segments? See the screenshot for clarification. In Inkscape I would click on segment BC with the node tool and choose "Make selected segments curves" and then "Make selected nodes smooth".
  10. Hi, I'm placing an SVG file in Designer and try to convert to curves, but the menu item is disabled. This works perfectly with the same file in PagePlus X9. what am I doing wrong? Greetings, Sigurd
  11. Hello Is this possible in Affinity Designer? I can't find any settings. Thank you.
  12. Can you convert from color to grayscale and/or black/white in Affinity Designer and/or Photo? This is very helpful for designing for the very few people who cannot see color in checking for background/foreground contrast.
  13. I have a jpg-picture where I want to change colors, but how do I split the photo into shapes? I.e. how do I convert the jpg to vector-format.
  14. There's a mountain of people out there that would love to be able to convert Microsoft Publisher files to InDesign. Why don't you get the jump on them and a massive audience by making Affinity Publisher able to open or convert those .pub files on Mac. I think the only way to do it at the moment is to save the .pub files as PDFs them open them. Doing it this way nearly all of the subtle editing features are lost but at least you can copy and paste the basic elements. It would be great just to be able to open them in Publisher too.
  15. Hello guys, I'm currently testing out the Affinity suite and I have to say, I'm fairly impressed so far. I'm really considering making the jump and say goodbye to Adobe. However, there are still some functionalities I use daily that are still missing. From what I've seen, the selection feature to include "Select > same > ..." is something people really want too. I really hope this will arrive soon. Anyway, I wanted to ask you guy if you knew how I coud do to put an ellipse at the center of a line ? I have multiple separate lines and need to put a small circle in the middle of each. On Illustrator, I'd just select a line, "select > same appearance" to select all the lines and "Convert to shape > ellipse". These 2 features don't seem to be available on Affinity. Any ideas how to do that ?
  16. Hi guys. Bit of noob here. I created some Art text which contains an embedded vector graphic as a fill. When I convert to curves my embedded graphic turns black. How do I convert the text into an editable curve that I can manipulate without losing the embedded graphic? Apologies if I’m not using the correct terminology. I’ve attached a before and after shot.
  17. I want a shortcut for this feature options: _ Additional Suggestion: If you click using the Node Tool, it could convert the node mode to the next one in a cycle conversion order. or make that a new tool: "Node converter"
  18. I need the ability to automatically change the image to vectors. Designers use pen tools on top of images with poor resolution, not vectors, below them to make them vectors. I think it needs to be automated. In fact, if you take a program that's automated, it's Vector Magic. Even though it is not very accurate, it is very helpful in images that require a lot of vector conversion work. Obviously, if we include this feature in our efficiency, it will be a simple and automated function.
  19. Hi, what is the best way to convert rgb images to cmyk for print with Affinity Photo? Thanks
  20. Hi I presume that after last update something went really wrong with expanding stroke function. It is completely broken. I have a lot of work to do, but now I just cant do anything. Any help?
  21. Hey guys, yes i know something similar has been asked before but all the other posts I have seen didn't answer my question. I understand that converting RGB to CMYK withhout color differences won't always be possible since the color garmut of RGB is a lot bigger than the one for CMYK. What I don't understand is: If i try to do it the other way (CMYK to RGB) shouldn't it be possible to get the same color in RGB as I have in CMYK? Maybe you can also tell me how you handle it if your client needs a logo in RGB and in CMYK colors and wants them to be similar. Thanks a lot in advance can't wait to hear your replies. 22. Hi ... first of all --- i love using AD! But now i am stucked :( i want to use a contour - which shall look like a stitched seam - and substrate it from the main curve - which is a heart. So the background will "go through" - for example, if I want to use a transparent png Are the any hint to substrate contours from curves ? Cause if i use the normal way it looks like this ... i didn`t found any option to convert the contour/curve into a normal curve. Like i do with the "W" and cut it “of“ ... #thx
  23. Hi ... can't find an answer anywhere -- is there a way to batch convert a bunch of photos to rotate them all at once? I just need a 90 degree rotation on a folder full of sideways pics. Thanks in advance for any guidance.
  24. I use Affinity Photo Mac version. I am a Adobe CC user before. Last month I need to batch convert about 2000 svg icons to PNG with 20 different categories. I tried Illustrator action, failed. I tried Photoshop Image Processing, succeed, but I got blurry PNG files. Then I tried Inkspace, unfortunately, I got the same result wz Photoshop. Then I Googled Affinity Photo and installed a trial version. With the Batch Job feature I finished convert all svg files at last. But it was not easy, I cannot add folders with sub-folders, I had to add 20 times for each folder. Luckily,I got high quality PNG files for svg files. Then I decided to purchase a full version. But soon after I found a problem: This app always miss some files when do Batch Job. It means I have to pick the svg files not converted manually after each converting. Have anyone meet the same problem? How to resolve this? Thanks. My English is poor, hope you will understand.
  25. Hi folks, anyone noticed the colour change when converting down from 32-bit to 16-bit? Searched the forum for a while and it doesn't come up. I'm working with 32-bit EXR render and at some point you need to convert down to a lower bit depth and when you do any editing on the scene, it changes the colour. Do the same in Photoshop and it stays correct. You can try it with anything: Exposure or Curve to make it visible. Set up the exact same settings in both AP and PS and convert down to 16 bit and then compare both images. Or even just do it in AP. Have your layer stack in full 32 and change the format down to 16 and then switch back and forth to see the difference. I think this is a huge drawback. Whatever is handling the conversion in the background, somethings off. Cheers, Bo
