  1. Is there any way to enable canvas rotation with hand gestures on the touch screen? For instance, in Photoshop, you can place two fingers on the screen and rotate them, and the canvas will rotate in that direction. I can't seem to find any setting to enable it and its very frustrating not being able to shift my canvas around freely when I'm drawing. I end up just turning my whole tablet around, which is very inconvenient.
  2. Hi, I use macros in batch processing. One job will change the canvas to design a border. I change the canvas in Wide and High absolut by +150px. But the calculation is now fix in the new size and works only with pictures that have the same size. I found no solution to do that in relation to the canvas size.
  3. Hi everyone!! When you cover the canvas/document with say a photo or colour, there is a white border/edge around the document. Though it doesn't appear when you export the work, I find it intrusive and it bothers me so see it there. However, when you rotate the whole canvas/document say 90 degrees and make sure the canvas intersects the panels past the rulers the white border disappears (see attached images). Is there any way to make this disappearance permanent? Any way to disable this white border (as sheen on the second photo below)? Thanks.
  4. How do I resize a single layer without disturbing the size of underlying layers or layers above the intended layer?
  5. When rotating the canvas (View - Rotate Left/Right) the artwork previews/appears pixelated and distorted on the artboard - almost like the strokes and objects get fuzzy outlines. I'm not sure if it's a bug, but its been present since the day I started using Designer and Photo - even vector shapes get jagged edge previews when the canvas is rotated. I've attached a preview to show what I mean (you may need to zoom in to have a better look), but I'm sure anyone who has used the canvas rotation feature is aware of this. Is there a way to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.
  6. I think its been motioned before but please add in the ability to use the rotate command in the cintqe touch Wacom to allow for canvas rotation and zoom!!!! Also the ability to map canvas rotate to the touch ring on a standard Wacom!!!
  7. Hi, Sometimes I'm assembling components on a page, but I'm working on a canvas that is sized towards the end result. Is there a way to keep objects dragged off-canvas visible or do I have to switch to a "canvas + artboard" model to keep track of those objects? If, for instance, I create an A4 landscape canvas and drag an object outside the canvas area it basically becomes invisible and can only retrieved by either block selecting the whole area and dragging it on the canvas again or highlighting the relevant layer and dragging it back onto the canvas. Is there a setting for the off-canvas border to remain behind objects dragged off-canvas? Attached: example circle partly vanishing when being off-canvas Cheers!
  8. 1. Is there a way to crop the document/canvas/artboard to the exact rectangular area of the selected objects? In photoshop, you could cmd+click on the layer's thumbnail to select the entire object in the layer, then press C to switch to crop tool, and it automatically fits the crop area to the selection, so you get the minimum canvas size that fits the object. How do you achieve this in AD? While it's able to cmd+click on a layer to select the objects, I can't figure out a way to do the cropping for the canvas other than adjusting the document size with numbers. 2. when exporting, the "Area" dropdown menu is greyed out, how do I enable it? Thanks
  9. Hi all, I think I should report this really annoying bug that is still present. See screenrecording (it's not about video compression) - to me it seems like canvas is divided to many parts and the part right below cursor renders in half resolution then redraw in retina but jumps back and forward from sharp to pixelated :( Present for a long time - whenever I search in forum for GUI bugs it seems to me like this wasn't reported or at least resolved yet. Sorry if I duplicate such report... Affinity Photo 1.7.3 on iMac 27-inch 2017, Radeon Pro 580 8 GB, macOS 10.15.1 No matter if I turn Open GL instead of Metal in preferences... 10. Hi, The canvas turns into black some times (Especially when zoom in + pan). When I zoom out, it becomes normal. Kindly have a look at the screenshot. And, I couldn't regenerate this issue. It sometimes happens (not frequently). Note: I have all my drivers updated to the latest version. Version: Affinity Designer 1.7.3.481 Operating System : Windows 10 Pro CPU : Intel i3-4005U with Intel HD 4400 Graphics GPU: NVIDIA 820m 2GB Tablet : One by Wacom (CTL-471)
  11. Two critical bugs when exporting a file as a PSD file. 1. Any layer marked hidden in Affinity Photo shows up in the exported PSD file as empty. 2. In the exported PSD file, all layers are clipped to the size of the canvas in the Affinity Photo document. The first bug can be worked around by unhiding the layer before export. A pain but doable until fixed. The second bug is fatal. We are looking at buying about 10 licences to deploy Affinity Photo to our team but we have to maintain compatibility with Photoshop as some work will go outside where that is their design package. So any layer that extends beyond the canvas in a document is rendered useless by Affinity Photo clipping to the canvas. This means we will have to look for an alternate application. Which is a real frustration as AP does so many things so very well. Can you hyper-escalate this bug to the development team and provide some kind of workaround in the interim? By the way, importing of PSD files—some with some pretty esoteric filters, adjustment layers, masks, etc.—works very well in Photo. Kudos for that guys. Affinity Photo 1.7.3 on macOS 10.14.6.
  12. Hi, I'm new to use Affinity Photo and Affinity Design. Till now I used Photoshop. I'm missing some function in Affinity. Can someone tell me how to rotate the canvas in Affinity Photo and how to change the Brush size with the mouse like Photoshop.
  13. Hi, I created a 24 x 36" (609.6 mm x 914.4 mm) document in Photo and added guides like this: Then I added 6 mm Canvas Size equally. But after clicking the Resize button, this is what I get: You could see that guides on the left and top are not visible! When I do this in Photoshop, all guides stay where they are! What might be the issue causing this in Photo? Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
  14. Hello guys, I have some control issues. Is there a way to rotate the canvas from the touchscreen other than clicking through the menu or using a keyboard - If not, is there a plugin API to realise such a plugin or a plugin already? It is very annoying if you can't rotate your canvas from a shortcut. Usually if I am drawing I have my Surface standing which means I can't rotate my whole tablet. (On my stationary tablet I got the same issue anyway, but that one hase buttons). In photoshop there is a tool for that. Thank you in advance.
  15. Windows 10 Home 1903, Publisher 1.7.2.471 Watch the attached GIF. The right-hand side of the canvas is overlaying the panels, and the Pages/Assets panels cannot be seen. This is the only time I have seen this so it could be a total one-off. I’ve no idea if switching Personas has anything to do with it but it was something I was doing often. I’ll leave the document open in Publisher as long as I can (maybe next two hours) in case anyone needs me to do any live checking.
  16. Hi . I would like to know what is the blue frame within my canvas means? Thanks a lot, please find print screen attached.
  17. In any given programs there is the ability to crop the canvas, however in Affinity Designer you have to go all the way to the Document Setup and do the guess work if you're cropping at a specific size. Is there any possible ways to crop the canvas on the canvas itself, like in Photoshop or Illustrator you can just resize the canvas with the artboard tool, however that doesn't seems to be the case in Affinity Designer, unless I am missing something here. Thanks!

  19. Hi, im new to Affinity and I like it a lot. In photoshop when you drag a file from folder directly onto a canvas youre working on - it resizes to the same size as canvas which is very convenient In Affinity photo when you drag it it keeps its original size and its very painful to resize it each time. Also sometimes it simply gets pasted somewhere outside the canvas and its not even easy to locate it. Is there any way to drag the file onto canvas and make it resize to fit it?

  21. I think guides should be visible even if they are outside of canvas/artboards
  22. Hi All, I am still new to Affinity range, so trying to learn new features and ways of working. In the older generation e.g. DrawPlus, PagePlus, I would have 2 canvas areas. There would be a White area that is the Document canvas space. Whatever is placed here would be active (within borders of document). Then there is a Grey area surrounding the Document canvas. I would often drag objects there for intermediary use, edit, copy and paste items and change things. I would save this along with the document. Of course there is the Assets panel, but these objects are not for my Assets panel. In the older generation I would see all my objects on Document canvas and outside. In the new generation e.g. Affinity Designer or Publisher, I can place objects in the Dark Grey surrounding the Document canvas space, BUT it is very difficult to see the objects in the Dark Grey area as objects seem "Invisible". Only if I guess where they are can I select them or hunt for them in the Layers panel. Is this intended? Did I miss something? Is there a way to do what I used to do in the older suite in the Affinity range? Or do I need to change my work of working for new Affinity range? Thanks in advance
  23. Is there any links where to find or how to teach you to create seamless patterns or textures and saving as your custom preset? e.g. wood, fabrics, metals, concrete, etc...
  24. Affinity Designer I am try remove the board and I am going show you picture screenshot.
  25. Suggestion for a very small, but very useful feature/shortcut option for 1.7. I, as well as a vast majority of illustrators, designers and photo editors I know and work with, constantly rotate the canvas while working. This is not a 90 degree rotation, but rather just a standard rotation while working (exactly like the View - Rotate Left/Right/Reset options). Assigning this to custom shortcut keys helps speed things up (I currently have Rotate Left and Right assigned to Q and W in Designer), but it's still slow in comparison to Photoshop's dedicated rotation tool. With Affinity I'm left pressing my custom defined rotation shortcuts multiple times to get the perfect angle for the work I'm doing. With that in mind, I don't think it's necessary to add a dedicated rotation tool like Adobe PS has, but rather just a key combination shortcut. When you hold Ctrl+Alt and click and drag in Affinity this changes your brush size and hardness, which is incredibly quick, efficient, and useful. Could there not be a similar option (say Alt+Cmd+click and drag, or Ctrl+Cmd+click and drag) to rotate the canvas working angle? Either that, or a pop-up menu (similar to Sketchbook Pro) where when you move the canvas using the move tool (Spacebar) you also have the option to rotate the canvas. I've also seen this used in software like Krita, where holding modifier keys + dragging allows you to rotate the canvas. It's a non invasive way of still giving the option to those who use it, but keeping it out of the way for those who don't. You could possible also include the option to enable/disable the pop-up menu in the Preferences for those who don't like to use it or find it distracting. I think this would be an incredibly invaluable feature, particularly for artists/illustrators who rotate the canvas to draw using a tablet, but also useful for designers and photo editing.
