  1. as an affinity product an affinity animator software would be welcome. a competitor to adobe after effects . My suggestion is to bring aboard companies to co create the app (together they will make a superior product than standalone ). The following are examples of companies with animation softwares at reasonable prices with features that if all put together would be a great app: http://www.roughanimator.com/ https://www.keyshapeapp.com/ http://creature.kestrelmoon.com/ https://kiteapp.co/ https://creaceed.com/morphage/about http://www.coreanimator.com/#animate-anything-anywhere https://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk-animator/ I suggest that someone open up to making these companies come together with serif to make affinity animator :) Have a nice day, today is father's day in Portugal, happy fathers day to all parents :)
  2. I'm perfectly fine sticking with an already well developed animation program. But its always good to have a non subscription program you like as a backup.
  3. Greetings fellow Affini-types I'd like to ask a question about the functionality of both Designer and Photo .. I frequently use both of these programs to create frames that I later make into animations. As such, creating each file in the scene, I name them sequentially like "Filename 1", "Filename 2" and so on. When revisiting the files to edit later, I like to grab a bunch of the files and double click them all to open them as a set. The current, and rather odd functionality that I'd like to avoid is this: If I open up 6 files, named "xx 7.png", "xx 8.png", "xx 9.png", "xx 10.png", "xx 11.png", "xx 12.png", the order that the tabs open up is a complete jumble, for example just now I opened the same list of files, and the order Designer opened them was: "10, 8, 12, 11, 9, 7". With only 6 files, this is not a huge task to correct, but when opening 25 or 30 files at a time, and also doing this several times per hour, it's really cumbersome to have to go and reshuffle the tabs around so I can step through them easily in a sequential fashion. I would like to ask if this is possible in the current release of Designer and Photo, and if so, how? If this isn't currently possible, I'd like to request that this is added as a new improvement, as it would make my particular work flows much more efficient. I use multiple tabs within Safari windows in a similar fashion, and would suggest that Affinity could possibly twin Safari's Tab behaviour to make it easier to navigate between the currently open tabs. Safari's key-command "Command+Shift+(RightArrow)" and "Command+Shift+(LeftArrow)" makes a nice addition as a method to skip right or left across the tabs as well. These sequences fall easily at hand with a laptop keyboard and is familiar to Safari users. I think the above would make a dandy addition to these two truly world-class pieces of software. Please let me know if anyone can help.
  4. Interested in computers, graphics, animations, games, vr, interactives and internet? Computer graphics, animations and interactions are now self-evident. You just have to pick up your smartphone, tablet, desktop computer or what else and you feel intuitively when you have to swipe, click, drag or pinch zoom. You also expect nothing less than nice interfaces with smooth animations. But it wasn't always like this... There were times where there were no editors like Photo and Designer, nor Illustrator, nor Photoshop, and even computers and animations of frames didn't exist... I wrote a blog series of six where I like to take you on a journey through time with our focus on learning about the development before and during the creation of computers, digital graphics, animations, graphical interfaces, graphics software, interactivity, 3D, a pinch of the first games, the creation of the internet and a touch of virtual reality. I have made more than 110 illustrations for this series with Affinity Designer and also provide each part with at least one interactive to bring the events alive as good as possible for you. Part 1 is out there now! Hope you like it and I'm sure you learn something new from it and be surprised by some events! There will be a new part every month from now. Enjoy! 5. Affinity designer is a great program to create amazing svg graphics. But I have to create complex help animations from svg-graphics. And I haven't found a good program for that yet. I wish myself an svg animations program from the affinity team.
  6. I've been planning to purchase both Affinity Designer & Affinity Photo as I move away from Adobe, but have had a few other spending priorities before doing so. I just purchased Reallusion's CrazyTalk Animator 2 Pipeline (Mac Version) today, and see they have a white sheet on using Serif's DrawPlus for custom character creation (http://manual.reallusion.com/CrazyTalk_Animator_2/ENU/Whitepaper_Drawplus/default.asp). I'm wondering if I will be able to use Affinity Designer to accomplish the same tasks. If not, my only other option is apparently Flash. I have CS4, but am trying to transition away from Adobe Products. I'd hate to implement a workflow with a product I want to abandon if I can use Affinity! I'd greatly appreciate the feedback, especially since it will help me prioritize purchases. If I can use Affinity Designer to create CrazyTalk characters, I will end up buying Affinity much sooner than anticipated. PS. I see you are working on an Affinity Publish (a great replacement for InDesign)...looking forward to that too!! I noticed Serif does have some video related apps. Do you plan on developing Affinity video apps? It seems Apple is deprioritizing Final Cut and Motion since they removed them from the menu system on the Apple site and haven't updated recently. If you make apps that can replace Premiere/FinalCut, AfterEffects/Motion, you've got my money!!!
  7. Hi to everyone! This is a personal project, the illustration was made by my daughter and I redrew it to AD. Maybe it can be useful, to have new examples on optimizing the project using the lines; the project is just 450kb (see the outline view).in this project I used very few forms. many objects are just lines with different types of hatching. The Dash line is a powerful tool in AD and allows me to create interesting objects. I thank AffinityTeam for the amazing job on the selections and the snap tools, in AI I use a lot more time and I do not have the same result. (it's one of the reasons why I left AI for AD). Moreover I also did an animated version using Hype and I discovered that the new vector tools (in the current Beta) are very similar to AD!! (also the SVG source). So, I decided to share this file because even the animation was much appreciated and I hope you like it. It would be great to use AD to draw Hype shapes and animate the AD file, probably the only missing tool to kill Adobe definitively Download AD file: medusa.afdesign.zip Michelangelo _____________ BTW, Another project with AD file: Isometric Mock-up

    Christmas video for 2018

Yes, it's that time of year again. My Christmas video is made with a 'borrowed' image, chopped up and manipulated with Affinity Photo, animated with Anime Studio (a third-party package marketed by Serif a few years back) and brought together in Serif MoviePlus X6. Merry Christmas!
  10. Hello: I did read that y'all don't have in mind make a animation software, but I really would like that y'all make one, there a lot of peoples that would like that Affinity make a animation software. I'm willing to pay for it. I would like that in the future y'all expand the software area to something like following: - Animation Software. - Video Editor Software. - 3D software. - IDE for web programming or even desktop application (Using affinity designer for the GUI and pass the design to the IDE and continue working with it). I would like please put some of those in your plans, y'all can open a donation web site and get founds for make this projects. Let us know.

    Wokka - 2018 campaign

Made with Affinity Photo and Designer complete on the iPad Pro (Also used After Effect + Rough Animator for motion graphic) While studying at SAE for my Bachelor of Design, I got the opportunity to work on a re-brand and advertisement campaign for Wokka. (The following body of work is for university work only and are not for a real camping) The campaign is focused around 3 main posters that follow the story of the Dinosaur challenging the Ninja to a fight (Poster 1) so they go to the battlefield in order to fight (Poster 2) Tho they realized that neither one of them knew how to fight, so they ended it on the dance floor. The Ninja won the battle and the dinosaurs did not like this so he takes the ninja into hiding. After a couple of weeks after the posters go up a new poster he be put up over the past posters along in other area's and within the online place, this poster is a "Ninja missing poster" on the back will give some information and a QR code to give information to the "player" about the "transmedia" game where the "player" will need go around the "real world" with the Wokka app taking photos of the ninja's clothes, ninja sword, ninja star along with the use of information around online such as youtube video, Reddit posts, forum posts and more to help give information to the ninja's location, bringing the community together for a single goal. To help find the ninja's location in order for the first 5 people who find him and take a photo to get one year supply of Wokka noddles and to start of 50% off and double points for Wokka products. 12. Wouldn't be awesome if serif creates a competitor for Adobe Animate (Flash) for us? Having no scripting language would be alright as long as it can draw and animate well.
  13. Please, make it happen! A lot of us needs an animation alternative for Flash/Animate/After Effects, fully compatible with other Affinity programs. If not, maybe adding the animation inside affinity designer (a timeline) as Photoshop have to make animated GIF? Thank you, love you guys!
  14. Hi, In Sketch and Photoshop it's possible to make timeline animations. Are there any plans for Affinity? I'm talking about something like this: https://timeline.animaapp.com/ Regards, David
  15. Hi it is my second post here like I said in my first post about 3D import for texture like a Maya or Maya LT or 3DS Max project, I just found out about that software/tool. So here's my question is there any chance for Flinto and other interactive prototyping tools support or plug-in with Affinity Designer? It could be so awesome. I am currently looking for a new set of tools for my workflow, and I'll be so happy if I could reduce the amount of tools I am working with as an interactive and immersive designer. So if Affinity can be really good for UX/UI design, concept art and 3D texture and color...and prototyping support than I'll say goodbye to Adobe. Thank You Oh by the way guys I forgot in my first post to say GREAT JOB and keep going, even if I buy it or not I think you still did a good job and this is good to put more tools in the market so that designers and creators have more choice for their creativity. Guillaume from Montreal
  16. Are there any plans to introduce animation into Affinity Designer or produce a separate animation package?A lot of work but i think there would be a big market for it.I for one would be interested.
  17. Hi I didn't know where to put that request and I think there was some similar requests on the forum... But I wanted to be sure and make a little precision. Considering that there is a lot of people that want to use Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo as a professional tool, to me it is Affinity Designer, for Digital Drawing, Graphic Design, UX/UI... and certainly motion design & 2D animation. But considering that one of the most important tool is After Effects and that it is really hard to work with AD to AE, because it doesn't import SVG, you can't import EPS with transparency and gradient into AE, actually you can with PDF, but when you convert to layer to work with all your different layers everything disappear. What I am trying to say is AD and AE don't work really well together. So I was wondering, actually almost begging Serif/Affinity to develop some kind of a motion and animation... and why not parallax effects tool. Not one as complex as AE, we don't need everything. Like a light version of AE with only motion features, animation tools, maybe something like Spine (http://fr.esotericsoftware.com/), a light version as well; imagine an animation tool that got like 2-3 personas like motion; skeletal animation; parallax and that is able to export to tools like Unity, export PNGs animation, Sprite sheet; mp4 and mov. It could be amazing! Thanks for reading me even if it doesn't get done.
  18. Really hope an animation/timeline feature is implemented. I am getting into creating gifs with photoshop and was disappointed to see affinity designer and affinity photo lacking a proper frame by frame system. Love everything else, but hope this feature is added in the coming months.

    Animatic

So Affinity Designer, as it turns out, has a lot of potential for cel animation work. You can create a decent enough animatic in the bitmap persona using layers for onion skin, then just stick it all together in your editor of choice. My only request - could we have an "export selected layers as PNGs" feature please? That would save me having to go through toggling transparency and exporting one-at-a-time. animatic_scene2.mp4

    A quickie for instagram

Animated in After Effects admittedly, but all the artwork was created in Affinity Designer. It's all possible, you just need to think about the workflow a little bit. TV_kid.mp4
  21. I think that Affinity Designer needs to be able to create animations of transformation and transition of an interface and more generally the UI/UX prototyping. Thanks. I love this software.
  22. I've heard good things about this, and if I could use it for animation like I can with Photoshop, that would be fantastic. I could finally get away from Adobe's Subscription based milking machine.
  23. I've just made an animated GIF to explain a comment in this forum and I realised how simple it is to do in PhotoShop. Unfortunately... I had to go to PhotoShop to do it. I know animated GIFs probably fall into the animation category, but it would be great to able to export layers as frames in the same way Illustrator does when it exports an animated SVG. No massive feature set, just a few simple settings at export stage.

    Animation

I have recently become aware of the ability to animate SVG (Affinity Designer) for the web. There are applications coming out that make it really easy, however, the file size is a serious problem if you intend to have your work in a web page as Affinity does not offer the reduction of file size. Here is a youtube video I made on 09/03/2018. It is impressive what one can achieve. This is a concept for a web homepage. If you look closely there is some really subtle animation. The balloon has a flame which gets turned on and off to make it rise, the balloon also changes size in that as it moves away into the air it gets smaller. The clouds in places are semi-transparent. Also, the sun has a haze around it which disperses as the sun bets higher in the sky. All these really subtle changes make for huge file sizes. One online SVG animator which is still in beta is svgator.com which is free but limited. I have included a file of a puppy wagging its tail and turning its head which I animated in svgator. Just drag the (1A 76 questioning puppy.svg) file onto a web browser and it will automatically play and is on infinite loop. You have to export the files as an SVG from Affinity Designer and then upload that file into the svgator system. The head, body and tail have to be different and separate files to be able to animate them: i.e. the head would be nested in affinity designer the body would be nested and so would the tail. Exported as SVG and then imported to your animator of choice and there are many out there some free. 1A 76 questioning puppy.svg
  25. Hey guys! terrific job with the updates. Love the software...use it on a regular basis. One thing I love about affinity is that I got to make a really good combo with apple motion. That way...I was able to free myself from Adobe in every way (no more photoshop and no more after effects). The thing is that since I've updated to affinity photo 1.6.7 PSD export from photo to Apple Motion is broken . I've tried the 3 different modes and no luck. It just imports an empty canvas. That's sad because PSD is the only format that I can use because it does support layers (when it use to open them..anyways). I've also tried to export in EXR format (layered) but I got an error message saying I couln't. I know it's this affinity 1.6.7 because this issue is new to this version...it worked perfectly with the previous version. Can you guys give me a hand? I promise I´ll post a youtube video on how to do motion graphics with affinity photo and motion if you solve this for me ASAP. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Best regards. Ben.
