  1. Is there any way to automate the designer (macros, actions, python-scripts, ...)?
  2. Hello. I'm trying to recreate some Photoshop actions in Affinity Photo and I'm having a problem with Blend Options in Affinity. Could someone explain to me how to translate Photoshop's "Blend If" into Affinity Photo's "Blend Options"? A specific example in the screenshots below. I tried importing a simple PSD project with this very setting on one of the layers, but it didn't work. The setting Photo reproduced was quite bizzare (created many nodes and pushed them all to the bottom of the Source Layer matrix, making the object/layer invisible). I would love some help. Is it possible to translate this setting to produce the exact same result in Photo?
  3. I'm new to Designer but I'm looking to make the switch from Ai. I specialise in making complex isometric illustration and I've heard word of the addition of "Isometric Studio" to the latest Designer beta but I've not been able to find out what this is. Is there any word what this may include?
  4. I love it if there was a way to script affinity products. JavaScript or Lua or anything really. Ideally all features would be scriptable so I could use Affinity to generate stuff or build actions or load/export a bunch of files. I don't need personally need a UI to get started though I'm sure some folks would love an Actions palette
  5. Hi guys, i'm looking for a similar tool the "Actions"Photoshop in Affinity Photo. Could anyone tell me which tool has the same function? Thanks! Sorry for my English. ^^'
  6. In Photoshop it is possible, when creating an action, to insert a menu item. This takes the production of macros or actions to a whole new level and allows you to create all kinds of things that are currently unavailable in Affinity. Do you think it would be possible to add this functionality? Thanks
  7. Hello Serif & especially Patrick, Please can you tell me when Actions are going to be added to Affinity Designer? Being able to create macros/Actions is going to save a tremendous amount of time when repeating a series of events. Please, please can you tell me if this is coming out in version 6? Peaches
  8. I know this feature has been requested before (macros/actions), but it's not quite there yet for my needs. With the 1.5 update, Affinity Photo does have a basic macro recording function now, but it still does not eliminate the need for Photoshop from my workflow until I can assign custom keyboard shortcuts to the macros for rapid playback! I've been very impressed with Affinity Photo so far, and I really want to see it become a "Photoshop Killer"! I work in entertainment press photography, and we typically edit around 100-200 photos a night from an average movie premiere/event, or up to 1000 photos from a major awards show. We work at a rapid pace and on very tight deadlines, so speed is critical. My typical workflow in Photoshop ... - I need to be able to eyeball every single photo in a set and make rapid corrections with a series of keyboard shortcuts. Batch processing might work for some jobs, but looking at every single photo to make adjustments quickly is also frequently needed. - I usually open 200 photos in Photoshop at a time (Photoshop's limit) in a cascading stack, then do corrections to levels, sharpness, and maybe slight color correction if needed. - Save/close the file as JPEG 8, 300dpi at 3000x2000 px (Saved while closing the file with COMMAND-W on Mac) - Repeat until I'm done with all 200, and then work on an addition 200 files if needed - Then caption all the photos with the name of the person/people using Photo Mechanic What I would love to see in Affinity Photo is the same rapid editing ability that Photoshop has. For example, I would love to be able to assign a keyboard shortcut to macros/actions that do something like the following: CTRL-SHIFT-F1 - Auto Brightness/Contrast CTRL-SHIFT-F2 - Brighten 10% CTRL-SHIFT-F3 - Brighten 20% CTRL-SHIFT-F4 - Auto Color Temp CTRL-SHIFT-F5 - De-Orange CTRL-SHIFT-F6 - De-Blue CTRL-SHIFT-F7 - Auto Sharpen CTRL-SHIFT-F8 - Sharpen 10% CTRL-SHIFT-F9 - Sharpen 20% CTRL-ALT-L - Last Used Level Adjustment CTRL-ALT-C - Last Used Color Correction CTRL-ALT-U - Last Used Sharpness Adjustment I think you get the idea :-) Another feature I would love to see is IPTC data creation/editing (or even basic awareness, passthrough). It's not an absolute must for me, since I use Photo Mechanic, which does an amazing job. However, I would not like to have a situation pop up where maybe I need to go back and do a quick edit to a file that has already been captioned in Photo Mechanic, but Affinity Photo doesn't save the existing IPTC data that's already in the file (ie. strips that info out). That would be "no bueno"! Thanks for listening!
  9. I am repeating the same steps, and this would tremendously reduce my time.
  10. Actions are an option. Is there a way to set a default stroke size?...it is 0.2 pts, but I am using primarily 1 pt. Any other tips will be helpful.
  11. With the extortion experts Adobe screwing users of Creative (Accounting) Cloud with its revised pricing 20 to 50 percent, never has there been a greater need for a competitive alternative. Affinity comes nearest but shows no enthusiasm for closing the gap. When will it address the problems around plugins on Mac, or support Photoshop Actions, or have a file organiser, or make headway into reducing its gigantic file sizes? Solve these and you could have the world beating a path to your doorstep.

Macros - using expressions on macros

Hello I have a question regarding the use of expressions on macros. This is the situation: I have several images with different sizes, and I need to create a macro to change the canvas. Since the images have different sizes, I need to use expressions but somehow I cannot make it work. Let's assume 2 images: Image A: 2100x1000px Image B: 1900x700px I need to add 200px at the bottom of the image. I add the expression +=200 to the height, unlocking the padlock and placing the anchor on top. It works fine but the macro saves the final value (in Image A it would be 1200px) and not the expression. If I apply the same macro to image B, the final image will have 1200px instead of 900px. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you in advance
  13. Are there actions in Affinity Designer? If so, what are they called or what are they under in the menu?
  14. In this tutorial I'm gonna show you how to draw a simple paper clip in Affinity designer. In the first step we will draw the single paper clip as a curve and will use the actions break curve and join curve. With the pen tool we will extend the curve so that it looks like a real paper clip. In the second step (8:18) we will link two paper clips together. Therefor we will use the function expand stroke and the operations devide and add. In the third step we will use a rectangle as a clipping mask to create the drawing for the closed paper clip brush (12:38). At 16:12 I'll show you how to export the paper clip drawings as transparent png files. Creating different brushes in AD and AP will been shown at 18:05. https://youtu.be/Iaq7lmSsVoA
  15. Hi, I'm a graphic designer specializing in book covers and I'm considering making the switch from Adobe to your programs. They look absolutely beautiful and I've downloaded the free trial of Design to test out but noticed there isn't a free trial for photo. I want to test the program out before I make the switch mainly to see if the Photoshop Plugins and actions I have will work. Is there a trial I can download? And will the plugins and what not I've purchased for Photoshop work in your program? Thanks for your time!
  16. Hi Guys, The only feature we are really missing from the old days using Photoshop is the batch actions feature. The ability to run changes on multiple files at once in a batch. Appreciate it isn't a simple feature to add in. Apart from this Affinity Photo is far superior to Photoshop in speed, features and usability. It has sped our teams up significantly already. I can't express enough how appreciative we are at the awesome job Affinity have done releasing this program, it's exceptional. Cheers Ben
  17. How do we import actions into Affinity?
  18. I am a pro fashion and advertising photographer and have been at expert level in Photoshop since the mid 1990's. I am totally blown away by Affinity Photo having played with the trial for several days now. This is a PS killer on many levels but as a pro user of PS, I and many colleagues find that the Action recording feature is by far the most valuable asset on a daily basis. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE see what you guys can do to create this feature and you will kill PS. Here are just a few examples of time saving with Actions; 1. A folder with 30 already prepped images needing a curve adjustment, colour balance, resize and copied into a new folder so they can be uploaded later to a printing lab to meet that labs colour settings. 2. Twenty images needing a duplicate layer desaturated and a soft light blend through to background and saved for additional enhancements later. 3. A folder full of multi layer images needing flattened, resized, converted to CMYK and copied into a new folder. Any of the above only takes 60 seconds to achieve with a recorded Action but could take 15-45 minutes image by image. I say again, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make Actions a feature asap.
  19. Hey guys, Hope your day is going well. I am at a lost at the moment. I need to make my current pricing menu for my photography on 3 separate pages. Currently I have them all on one and it confuses the customers being this way. I want to make each page look nice but not knowing really where to start. I was thinking of doing a gradient for the back ground for starters. I attempted in applying a gradient and then nothing happen. The base layer was still white. What did I do wrong? I did leave CS6 for you guys seeing how you don't hog all my ram and have faster features then adobe. Then I was thinking of adding a nice border for each page and some small designs on it to make it look flashy. Then save all pages as a PDF to send to clients. Any help you could give would be great thank you! Also I rated you guys a 5 star so :D Hope to hear from you soon! P.S. Also Photoshop used actions and it was a huge help to my workflow. Does Affinity use actions? If not, when?
  20. In Affinity Photo (as in Photoshop), I find that my prints are darker than I want despite screen and printer profiling as well as having a correct profile for my paper/printer combination (Fotospeed PF Lustre 275 plus Epson R3000). Of course, I realise that my print will never be exactly equivalent to what I see on the screen due to the different types of light involved. However, in Photoshop I had a nice Action which was called "Lighten for Printing" which basically brightened up the printed image and reduced the gap between the brightness of screen and printed image. Happily this works equally well in Affinity by: 1 Layer - New Layer from Snapshot 2 Set mode to Screen 3 Set Layer Opacity to desired percentage for Lightening e.g. 10%, 20% or whatever. However whereas this is a one click running of a stored action in Photoshop, in Affinity by the above method it is a bit more trouble. Does Affinity have any equivalent to Actions or might this be in the pipeline for the future? By the way, I could not be more pleased with the switch from Photoshop to Affinity Photo. It is a pleasure to use an application which has been designed from the ground up for Photographers. Please would the whole Affinity team take a bow? Best wishes, Bail
  21. Hi friends, Now that I have purchased the Affiniy Photo Inhad dreamed that this one of my former questions would be answered by the working of the app. ut I am desappointed for is not. I am longing to get the selection outline being softened by a slight blurring, but as much as I repeat the action, select-shrink-invert selection-apply blurring....the result is that the blurring does affect the whole shape and. not the outline that is outside of the "marching ants" I have followed a moderator's instructions or tips and the hing does happen again and again, Can anyone have tried to do this action and succeed? I would appreciiate, again a bit of. help in this, Is important for my conpositions and though I coulld refine the outlines with Photoshop...mmmm....the thing is to get ride of it as much as possible...you see. Thank you so much in advance. Rosa
  22. Hi Thanks for introducing this interesting application! For the moment the implementation of Plugins seems to be far from being final. The inclusion of the Tonality Pro plugin by MacPhun would also be welcome - but for the moment I mainly care about history and actions. It would be nice to be able to have a proper history in which you can move forth and back - as well as automate procedures (actions) - and pls not language sensitive but oriented on the machine language (commands). Thanks Markus Sorry - I have found the history - so it's only the action script language which is missing for me...
