  1. Not working as I expect. 1) Created a simple document in Indesign with 3 coloured rectangles (1 spot, 1 RGB, 1 CMYK) plus some text in black. 2) Exported as PDF X-3. 3) Openend PDF in Publisher and created document palette from document. Result: Having now 5 colours in the document palette. One seems to be white, but if I use the CMYK slider it has 1% Cyan (rest 0). When you click the spot colour rectangle and look at the colour it says spot colour. If you look at the colour in the palette the colour is not marked as spot. Unfortunately I can't convert this colour into spot again. Unless you are not going to re-assign the colours from the palette the correct colour information of the objects is still intact. Other observation: Although imported the palette from the document the colours seem to have nothing in common. E.g. clicking on one rectangle I expect to see the colour marked in the palette, but this is not working. If you re-assign the colour from the palette for the objects the fill will be shown in the palette. farben.pdf
  2. It is impossible to place a locked file in Publisher. There are two results what happens if you try. Result 1: Place the file directly -> Nothing happens Result 2: Make a picture frame and place the file -> Publisher instantly crashes I think Publisher tries to convert the file to editable content and fails with the above results. lockedpdf.pdf
  3. First, thanks for the regular expression support for Find/Replace. In my first simple tests it has worked well. However, I noticed a small small anomaly. Here's the text in my document: I did a regular-expression Find and got these results: As it always has in Find results, Publisher shows that paragraph character at the end of the first list of text as \n\r. That gave me the idea to try finding the \n\r, which got this result: Seems odd, as the \n\r sequence was supposedly there I can find either \n or \r and I get this result which shows the \n\r as what was found, but I cannot find the pair together: Of course, I could always search for a Paragraph Break as a special character via the search pulldown, so it's not a big problem, but it's a bit surprising given that Publisher is showing the \n\r which will lead users to naturally try to use that in constructing their regular expression searches.
  4. Create a new document, with 1 page (the number doesn't really matter). Draw a Text Frame on the page. Note that the Layers panel shows that layer and (Frame Text). Add some text to the Text Frame. The Layers panel still shows (Frame Text). The Layers panel does not update to show the actual text for that layer, until: You add another layer of some kind, other than Frame Text. (Adding a new Text Frame does not help, but adding a Rectangle layer does.) You switch to a different document tab and back. You switch to a different Studio panel and back (e.g., to the Character panel tab and back to Layers). You delete a different layer from the panel. (Simply clicking on a different layer, and/or clicking back to the (Frame Text) layer again, does not help.) There are variants of this, such as changing the text in the frame, or deleting the text from the frame. The Layers panel update is delayed until one of the above occurs.
  5. I know that being able to use the Format options of Find (and Replace) in Publisher has been kind of hit-or-miss, working in some betas, not working in others, partially working in some. I don't know whether the Serif devs think it's working right now or not, so I thought I'd make this report to be sure they had one If you specify a Font Family via the Find Format options (cog icon, select Format), then Find appears to be completely broken. It doesn't matter whether you specify a string to find or not, or if you specify one whether you use a normal search or a regular expression search. Nothing will be found.
  6. Inspired by the post of GarryP I started experimenting converting layers back and forth. Apologies for taking MEBs avatar as an example. I wonder what else is possible? Step 1) Place image Step 2) Convert into picture frame Step 3) Convert into text frame Step 4) Fill up the text frame with text - in this case the bullet (Alt+0149)
  7. Strange title for this post, but my English is not good enough to give it a better title. Step: Create a polygon and transform it to 60 x 60 mm width and height Result: The outer object box is bigger than the polygon itself I assume where it comes from: You can possibly distort the shape until it gets the dimensions you typed into the transform panel. To get the correct dimensions you have to convert the shape into curves. An extra step I would love to see eliminated. See attached image for clarification and more shapes with this "problem". Edit: It seems to be, that text wrap takes the shape dimension into account and not the shape box dimension, which is correct.
  8. This is weird. Did not test out at other places where the slider is used for the width of a stroke. Look at the video and try yourself if you are able to move the slider to value 0. After all the value IS 0, but this is irritating. textframe-stroke.mp4
  9. 1) Add paragraph 2) Define line top e.g. 1pt width 3) Change the solid to dashed line 4) Try to define different values for the dash Result: Line width jumps back to 0pt width, but keeps the value for the dash you just entered. So you have set the width of the line again. You can fill the field Phase without losing the value for width. Hmm, hope this was understandable? decorations.mp4
  10. Create some text in a text frame. Highlight part of the text, and Text > Interactive > Insert Hyperlink. (Or, click on the Add Hyperlink icon in the Hyperlinks panel.) Choose a character style of Hyperlink in the dialog that comes up. Note that the text becomes blue, and underlined. Remove the hyperlink, using the icon in the Hyperlinks panel. The hyperlink disappears from the link in the panel. The text remains blue and underlined, with the Hyperlink style assigned. Removing a hyperlink should take reset the style on the text, too. Otherwise it takes a two step operation, one in the Hyperlink panel and another manual one after locating the text in the text frame. Assuming, of course, you remember to locate the text before you remove the hyperlink (Go to source, from the Hyperlink panel). Afterward you're kind of stuck trying to figure out which text string you need to reset.
