I just purchased and downloaded Affinity Designer last night. I attempted to open a .ai file with it, and was met with an error regarding permissions. I also tried to save an Affinity project (.afdesigner), which was met with a permissions error as well. The error reads: I am only able to read/save files in my newly created Affinity Designer iCloud storage, which is not the workflow I will be adopting. Before anyone flags this as a duplicate or writes this off, know that I have: Tried saving to/reading from multiple directories within my home directory,

I copied and pasted layers of vector art from an .ai file into my Designer document. When I resized the document to fit on my workspace, distortions in the design were introduced at particular points in the scaling process. Attached images: The first shows the original (correct) drawing. The second remains correct. The distortions occur around the "antennae" of the stylized insect in the 3rd and subsequent images, and appear as spike-like protrusions and odd scaling of the other elements of the drawing. I would hate to have to re-create this from scratch in Designer. How can I sca

I have been using Adobe Illustrator exclusively for years in my design process and have recently begun to use Affinity Designer. Unfortunately, this means that most of my design pieces are in the .ai format. Is there a way to bring these over to a .afdesign format while preserving all of me design aspects?

I have a number of old files from a previous degree that were created in CorelDraw (.cdr). These are both vector and image files, and were used as figures in my thesis. I discovered you can batch export files instead of individually, and took all of the .cdr files and exported to illsutrator (.ai). These appear to have exported properly (i.e., they have a file size that makes sense), but only open as blank documents in Affinity. I tried one of these same files as an export to PDF (which you cannot batch export) and it opened as a layered file in Affinity no problems. th

I'm trying to get a file I've been working on in Affinity over to a friend using Illustrator for final (minor) edits. At minimum, he at least needs to be able to open it on Illustrator with no loss of resolution. I have tried exporting it as every file extension available with Affinity and they all lose resolution or effects upon export. Does anyone know how best to tackle this problem? DZONE Jersey.afdesign

Illustrator .ai file export would be nice. Exporting to EPS files for After effects just don't cut it. You can't edit the vector paths or access layers. :( Thanks for considering :)

Will Adobe Designer eventually be able to export as an .AI file? I was reading in the past about this topic, and someone said it was private. If this is the case, how can any Adobe file be exported at all? How can Adobe Photoshop not be private, whereas Adobe Illustrator is? Please let me know if this changes and explain this topic further so I can understand. What are file formats I can save as to keep it editable for an Adobe user to open Thank you so much!

HiHi! First of all, AD is my new favourite thing in the world, ever. I'm buying it, even though it's not quite fit for the purpose of Motion Graphics just yet. I've posted in the forum in case i've missed something but will AD be able to export a layered vector file format for use in AE? I'm desperate for AD to work in the After Effects pipeline without having to do workarounds. (Raster is no good for the Mograph we do at the current agency) Illustrator sucks! :P AD is epic! B)

I am relatively new to AD and I am happy that it can open Adobe Illustrator files. However, I'm having difficulty selecting all the curves of an object (there are so many!), so I can copy and paste onto a new document. Does anybody have any suggestions/tips that will help me select all the curves of an object so that when I copy and paste into a new document, I've captured ALL related curves? I've tried holding the shift key and selecting what I think are all the curves, but when I paste them into a new document, somehow I've left out the tiniest curve! It's so frustrating because it takes

I've had to re-work some vector illustrations and the file format was .ai - as expected AffinityDesigner loaded it perfectly and I made the changes quickly. I now however need to deliver the updated source file. I realise I can't export to .ai - so what's the best alternative? I know I can export to PSD, PDF, SVG and EPS but I'm not really sure which one to use. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance. p.s - Absolutely LOVE AffinityDesigner. Still using the trial version but will be purchasing soon. I hope this community is as useful as the app itself.

Hi, I have been using Illustrator for years I need an alternative program that can export files out in the .ai format to be used with Autodesk Maya. Will this be possible using Affinity? THanks
