  1. Making a outline of a giraffe with the Engraving brush 03 with different stroke's.
  2. Hi, i am new user Affinity Designer who recently started trying to master the pen tool and create something visually appealing using vectors. I have no experience in that at all, i am quite good at Photoshop but vectors are totally new to me. Here is my atempt to create a luxury Maurice Lacroix watch.
  3. I wanted something more than a standard product shot which practically everyone seems to do. They are great for their intended purpose but I don’t find them an interesting subject and they are just too easy. So this was from my folder of things I might want to do sometime. Subjects that on the face of it seem fairly simple aren’t necessarily less work, this took at least 4 times as long as the Porsche. Back to the complicated/slow ones now.
  4. Hello everyone, Back with another illustration. Similar to “Light houses” this one is also a mixture of vector illustration with photography. The main vector objects (the monsters/creatures) where made in Affinity Designer then moved into Affinity Photo where I started with the background, removing all the people, followed by removing any text on the signs and labels around the train and replace it with my own text (a bit over kill since there kinda small to read and most people will never see it but was still fun to do) followed by placing the vector objects in, colour correcting the scene and adding shadows and other textuers such as dust and lens scratches. Overall the project was fun to mess around with and I’m happy with how it came out. Made with Affintiy Photo + Affinity Designer and made on the iPad Pro. Main image: Close Up: How it was made: Thank you for your time, Andrew.
  5. I’m intentionally seeking to learn from some of my favorite artists by attempting to emulate aspects of their styles. This particular exercise in admiration is based on the flowing ribbons and gradients of @serdarduran’s work. Created solely on Affinity Designer for iPad with Apple Pencil (including the sketch, which is a first for me).
  6. Hey everyone, so I found those templates to export iOS icons and another document for Android apps. Since, we are developing an app in Flutter, this document is perfect fit. So I created a template doing both at the same time. Enjoy it. Follow instructions in the document and please write a comment for any bug / suggestion. App Icon Exporter - v1.afdesign
  7. Logo design and cycling clothes for the Szczecin bicycle group.
  8. https://imgur.com/a/RViOce6 I made an icon for Affinity Motion. Even though I know Affinity won't be making one. I'll just make it so it covers the adobe icons
  9. Hi, here’s an experimental idea made after learning something from one of the lockdown creative sessions. I’ve been using AD for quite a while now, and still have a ton to learn, but I can’t believe I missed the adjustment option on the layers panel. I do totally get the ‘stay safe’ message, but on another level it seems quite an abstract command, which possibly accounts for the progression of this graphic!
  10. Hi, Another one, featuring the same look-and-feel of my previous post. As the eye is always the main element, I thought of naming this one as the 1000 eyes of Doctor Mabuse – as in the Fritz Lang's movie. It's not as rich as the first one but I do like the depth of the layers I got with the radial elements. Great and perfect
  11. My main complicated drawings are taking ages so I thought I would work on a few easier ones at the same time. This is the first to be finished. For me Gulf Racing is the most iconic colour scheme in motor racing and I’ve been meaning to do a 917 but never got around to it until now. Unsurprisingly there aren’t a whole lot of overhead shots of it so this was based on photos of the 1:8 scale die cast model by Amalgam Collection. Very high end, about £10k but bespoke can apparently cost up to £120k. Not something to let the kids play with. On the Porsche 917K’s public debut at the 1970 Daytona 24 Hours, John Wyer's Gulf-sponsored team finished 1-2 in the race. The winning number 2 car driven by Pedro Rodríguez, Leo Kinnunen and Brian Redman broke the distance record by 190 miles.
  12. Hi, Entirely made with vectors in AD. I usually don't draw with vectire, since if find it more time consuming that what I would have done when using brushes and paint. It's not what I would have usually done, but I thought it was done in a modern way, like some Middle Age art can be, and I'm fond of this era. And it seems easy. The fun part is that I kept the more difficult, the writing on the scroll for the end, since it appears the more difficult, and it wasn't until I begin to read the text that I understand that it was in French and certainly some contemporary art! I wish I could have use such a detailed version — or the original document—instead of the low resolution one I had to use in a document at work (no time to draw it before printing, alas!). Original: It seems I can't upload larger files.
  13. Something different from what I usually do in Affinity Designer. Background is transparent for possible T-shirt print. More info about this image in my portfolio blog: https://communicats.blogspot.com/2020/05/fire-fish-graphic-vector-drawing.html
  14. Two designs I have made that are quite different. Trying to test the different engines on Affinity Designer
  15. Thor’s Axe. This is my Swedish made Hagstrom Viking. It’s a vector drawing done with affinity designer on my Mac. If it wasn’t for the shutdown I’d never have done it. This is the kind of stuff I've been killing time with. Bet you didn’t know that Thor had more than a hammer.
  16. Vector portrait of Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut in 'Breaking Bad.' Still a work in progress at this stage (May 14 2020). Update sequence in my portfolio blog: https://communicats.blogspot.com/2020/05/vector-portrait-of-mike-ehrmantraut.html
  17. Its an app trying to save honey bees. Having fun with it.
  18. New piece. I seem to have developed a penchant for drawing bored looking women smoking - so here’s another! Cant’t think of a title though, so for now she’s just “Smoking Woman”.
  19. Inspired by a grey-scale design I saw on a stock vector website I decided to try and make a colour version of my own, and here’s the result. It’s not the most amazing illustration ever made, by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m actually quite happy with my shadows this time. All done in Designer, and a nice little practice exercise.
  20. Fallen A return to inking....and a bit of experimentation AD 1.8 Original size 1500 x 500mm 300dpi Uploaded at 3543 x 1181 jpg Fallen:Sepia Version Fallen:Coloured Version
  21. Hi all, I'm Greg, and I run a game development company called Boolean Games. Always liked the Vector art style, so thought I'd give it a go myself. Initially tried Illustrator but disliked the pricing etc, currently on a trial with Affinity so far but I really like it so I'll end up buying it This is roughly the level that I'm at but the inspiration was my 2 year old daughter and a possible design for the feature wall in her newly decorated bedroom.
  22. Independent commercial fishermen have lost a huge chunk of their market due to lockdowns around the world. Support local fishermen; eat seafood. This piece was inspired by Zutto. Found her amazing work through Affinity's Spotlight blog. (Yes, I’ve been mulling over her bubbly style for quite a while now; The date on that blog post is January 2019 😅) It was a little challenging to translate the more liquid style to something with very symmetrical, defined structure. It probably would have worked better if I hadn't done a head-on view of the crab so that the legs were overlapping. Ah well. Onwards and upwards. Drawn on iPad Pro with Apple Pencil.
  23. Hey! A transit map of a near future light rail letbane system in Odense, Denmark Phase 1 in green is near opening. The stations are fixed. Phase 2 in turquoise is not yet fixed and a bit speculative. Constructive feedback appreciated. Chris
