  1. As many design tools(Sketch, Figma, Framer...etc) use ⌘ + mouse wheel to zoom in/out, Affinity Serif uses ⌥+mouse wheel that is pretty special. I understand it's a hard-corded modifier but still want to suggest to change the function to fit design experience. While I change different tools, I always mess up the function. I know "use mouse wheel to zoom" is an alternative solution but it's not instinct for beginners. Please consider about this. 😃
  2. Hi, I'm trying to edit some .ARW but whenever I zoom in or out on the image (before developing it), the AP crashes. I don't remeber having this problem with the previous version of the software. I tryed closing every other software but it doesn't seems to be a lack of RAM. UPDATE: it happens also with .CR2 and even after developing the image.
  3. Please excuse me if this is already on the roadmap: Zoom to selection is great as it is, except for the shortcut; it's a two handed shortcut. The 0 is all the way over there... needing the right hand to come off the mouse to get at. That's pretty ridiculous when you consider that zooming to selection is for the process of immediate editing, which is done by the mouse. So the shortcut for this must be an entirely left handed "ninja fingers" move so the user can continue working at a rapid, immediate pace without having to remind their mouse or stylus. Which brings into question the rest of the view shortcuts, and how they could be better, to the point of being the best in the world of vector design. One of the joys of using the Mac is that there's no Windows key to jar you out of context of your existing app, and the [Alt] key doesn't throw you into a different mode of operation. So the side of the thumb can easily be used to operate a pair of modifier keys without any risks to the user experience. The two easiest two operate concurrently are the [Command+Option]. Just move your left thumb to the left of the space bar, roll it onto its side, and press them both down, concurrently, with ease. The real joy of this is that it leaves your other fingers forcefully hovering over the tilde, 1, 2 and 3 keys. The 4 is a little bit more of a stretch, but still reachable, and the Tab, Q, W and E buttons are unreasonably placed for immediate access, too. So that's 6 or 8 or 10 really good shortcuts, depending on your considerations of the Tab and tilde and the stretch to the right for 4 and R. What's the most important view zooms and changes that could be here? I propose that since Command + 1,2,3,4 is view level zooms pertinent to the current centre point of the screen, that [Option+Command + 1,2,3,4] should be those same zoom levels based on the position of the currently selected object, rather than the current centre of the screen. Or vice versa. --------------------- And I'd strongly suggest a "centre the current page and zoom to actual pixels" be given a top level shortcut that's a switch, back and forth from the current view position and zoom. I suggest the tilde key, without the need for a modifier key, be this. How this works: Regardless of my current zoom and position on the page, tapping and holding the tilde key brings me to actual pixels, centred on the current "page" so that I can see the project in its current state after my most recent modification that I'm currently editing. Regardless of what I'm editing (with the obvious exception of entering text) this should hide all selection brackets, guides and other visual clutter that's not content so it's an absolute preview of the work, and be in pixel mode. Releasing the tilde key should then bring me straight back to the current tool, intact, ready to continue editing at the previous view position and zoom level. [Option + Command + Tilde] should do the same zoom to actual size, but around the current selection instead of the current document centre. Sound at all sensible and useful? Or am I stark, raving mad? // btw, change this forum subsection to "Feature Suggestions" instead of Feature Requests. It's an important difference in mindset, I think. We don't really have the right to request features, but we do have the innate right to make suggestions. And this makes it a lot clearer that the processes of designing, designing an incorporation, designing interface access and then the subsequent development considerations of any feature is fucking staggeringly involved work. And ever more so within the framework of an existing product. You're not starting from scratch, and it's not easy to even consider a new feature, let alone implement it in anyway that doesn't impact other things.
  4. By default, all images are set to fit to the viewport when they are opened. For images that are smaller than the viewport, this leads to a zoom percentage greater than 100%. Personally, I usually prefer images not to be enlarged as it gives a wrong impression about the pixel-level quality. It prevents checking if the file is sharp, while not giving any real benefit since enlarging them does not provide any additional information, unlike in the case of larger-than-screen images. So fitting larger files by default is fine, but I find myself routinely pressing Cmd+1 every time I open a low-res file in Photo.
  5. Hello! I tried your software, and very like it. But I can't leave Photoshop and Illustrator, because in Affinity I can't find some important features which i need: 1. Zoom like a Photoshop (hold and drag Ctrl + Space) - this is very powerful feature. Because Zoom Tool and Ctrl +\- is a slowly and not productively for work. 2. I can't find, how to assign hotkey for a different palettes, like a Color or Brushes. If this functions is exist, please tell me. Thanks!
  6. I am trying to see on my screen my image in the actual print size -- I mean the size it would be if it was printed -- on both the Affinity Photo and Designer programs for iPad. Can't seem to find it - I found the navigator function displaying the view at 100% but I am not sure that means that it is print size? Also, I would like to be able to change the DPI of the image. I found how to do it from Affinity Photo desktop (under resize) but not on the iPad version. I am trying to have 300DPI for my image, and I need the program to resize the file accordingly as I don't know how many pixels that would be. Thank you.
  7. Bug in zoom % refresh in context.bar ... I send a little video It occurs with or w/o scrubby zoom It occurs in Photo, but also in Designer and Publisher (videos for all three), is seems to be the same bug in the same procedure Emilio error_afphoto.mp4 error_zoom_afdesign.mp4 error_zoom_afpub.mp4
  8. I've been having problems with the trackpad gestures, zoom in and out, and moving up and down, they are mixed, if I hold two fingers and move them up and down (the gesture that shuold be for scrolling up and down) it zoom in and out, and if I press with my two fingers and move them away from each other (gesture for zoom in and out) the document moves up and down. Moving sidewise is not affected. I've allready tried to fix it in the preference menu, but the only thing that kinda worked was restauring the preference setting to default, But after a few days the issue return, so I'm asking for help or for the developers to debug affinity designer, cuz it doesn't hapen in "photo"
  9. The Dust & Scratch effect isn't always visible. The image in the attached file opens (full screen) at 88.6% zoom. It is very "noisy". Turning on the Dust & Scratches filter layer has no visual effect on the image. If I export a jpeg at this point I see the filter has been applied. Click Ctrl+(minus) then Ctrl+(plus), the image is now at 100% zoom and the filter effect is visible. Select the zoom tool and slowly click-drag left and right. As the zoom level changes the filter effect turns off and on. For me, the zoom levels where this occurs are not closely repeatable, but the noise seems to always correctly disappear from view below 50% and above 200%. As a check, I see a similar issue with production 1.8.5.703 Windows 10 build 19041 Photo_Restoration_03_My.afphoto
  10. It's what the topic title says, the further you zoom in, the slower the brushes becomes. If you're zoomed way out brushes perform between well to acceptable, depending on their complexity. As you keep zooming in, the performance drops further and further until they're unusable. This is true even for basic round brushes, but it's more noticeable in complex brushes, such as Frankentoon's. I've also noticed it's worse if you're drawing over vector shapes, which is the whole point of these brushes. See the video for a visual reference. iPad Pro 9.7" with latest version of iOS 12.4 and Affinity Designer 1.7.1. I've tested and this also happens on Windows, the more you zoom the worse the brushes perform. But on Windows, especially on a desktop machine, the sheer processor power masks the issue. Thanks! 11. I am noticing an odd bug. I created a document at 280x70 pixels at 72dpi. When I view the image at 100% in Affinity Photo it is not the actual size. When I export the file as a PNG or JPG it is the correct size. I am attaching a screenshot showing the Photo doc (left) and the PNG opened in Preview on the right. Anyone know why they are not the same and how to fix it? Thanks.
  12. When I try zooming, if the cursor is outside the object, it doesn't matter, but if the cursor is above the object, the object is duplicated. here is the video for this problem.
  13. New to Designer here. When I close a work-in-progress file in Designer, is there a way to save the current zoom state to the file so when I reopen it to continue working, the same area is zoomed at the same ratio? Thanks for any help. Designer v1.8.3 Win10Pro v1909 64-bit Wacom CTH-661
  14. In a text paragraph when I highlight a word, the highlight disappears when I zoom to 172%. I have Affinity Designer 1.7.2
  15. Is it just my 5 year old Mac, or is the visual rendering of the page super jaggy when zoomed in at any level other than 100% or x2 /2 of the original size? I’d like Affinity Photo Beta to smooth the lines a bit when using odd zoom levels such as 134%…
  16. When loading a small image from scratch, the one I'm using is 250x193, Affinity Photo automatically defaults to filling the available area resulting in a pixelated image that's roughly 1000%+ in size. ( It'd be nice if a small image did nothing more than 200% upon first load, which is more in line with the retina displays. ) Anyhow, to quickly set the Zoom back to normal one can double click the Zoom icon (magnifying glass) -- and the image does change size back to 100%. However, the Zoom tool bar still has the old 1000%+ value. Meanwhile, the Navigator shows a different Zoom value. And, if one alters the Navigator zoom slider (the canvas area correctly resizes), then uses the pinch/stretch gesture, and then double clicks the Zoom icon -- the value in the Navigator gets copies to the tool bar, and the Navigator might (if you're lucky) jump back to 100% (often it does not), but the canvas image does. In short, there's the visual canvas area, the Zoom Tool bar, and the Navigator -- all three fall out of sync, so it's difficult to know at any time which one is the authority for what the current zoom level is. They should always be in agreement with the same value.
  17. I’m showing a client designs for a logo by screen sharing using zoom but when I send her mockups she is seeing a different colour from what she sees in zoom. I’ve tried viewing pdfs, jpgs and png files on various screens in different software and I’m seeing the same colour with slight variations as you would expect. When I show her the pdfs on my iPad using zoom she sees the same colour as when I show her Affinity on my iPad. She really wants the colour she sees on zoom. I’m using a Pantone and have all the details for that Pantone. I realise this isn’t really an affinity issue but this is the first logo I’ve designed using Affinity for iPad so I don’t know how close the Pantones match to print. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to see what the client is seeing and give them a closer colour match?
  18. I have just purchased Affinity Designer 1.8.3 and have noticed a user interface bug in that the "Zoom" label isn't displaying correctly in the Context Toolbar. I have attached a screenshot to clarify what I mean.
  19. When I work on multiple PC programs at the same time, Designer stops functioning properly. For it to work again I have to close the document and reopen it. If I have multiple documents open it affects them all and for these functions to work again I have to close all documents and reopen. It is not necessary to restart Designer though. The following functions are missing when this problem occours: Panning, via the spacebar shortcut, the middle mouse button, or even the view tool (hand) Scrubby Zoom All other ways of zooming and panning are working. Thanks in advance Windows 10 Version 1909 Build 18363.77 Designer 8.1
  20. Hi, I belive there is an issue with touchpad/touchscreen support. Designer version: 1.8.2.620 (just installed the 90-day trial) Windows 10 I'm using a HP Spectre with touchscreen. Both the screen and touchpad are multitouch. Expected behavior: Pinching on both touchpad and touchscreen should zoom-in/out the document. Moving two fingers on the touchscreen should move the document (just like you drag it with a View Tool). Ideally I would see it working the same way on touchpad. What happens: The pinch gesture works correct on the touchscreen (sometimes it stops working though and needs restart) but on touchpad it ALWAYS works ONLY the first time (really curious to me - first zoom-in or out works perfect, after that no gesture on touchpad works like it didn't work at all. After Designer restart there is again one chance to zoom-in/out with touchpad ) Moving with two fingers on touchscreen works sometimes, sometimes it stops working (like zooming on the screen) and sometimes I get only one chance to do it (like the pinch gesture) and then it stops. I've already installed Designer trial some time ago (I believe it was version 1.6) and it had the same issues (it was working exacly the same - or NOT working actually). BTW, I'm happy to see how the Affinity products develop and get better, and this time I'm about to buy it for sure. But really hope this issues would get fixed in the future. Best regards
  21. Hi, Just bought my Affinity Designer recently. At start, all seems to be normal until i substracted a circle shape and try to add gradient to it and suddenly i can't drag my mouse to Zoom. I can olny click to zoom in and push Alt key to zoom out. And also, my Gradient node when i want to edit it, it lag so bad. So the only way to stop the bugs is to close and re-open Affinity, but then it happen again. Please help, i just bought it and it's so unpleasant to have this bugs. Iam using Win 10, i5 9th gen, GTX 1050, 8GB RAM Thank You
  22. Hi, I using Publisher 1.7.3 on Win10, I have a problem about Zoom +/- when using the shortcut " Alt + space" the zoom +/- is out of the area I clicked also moved to the bottom line of the last pages. And in chniese typing can't type the full punctuation marks e.g. . =>。 , =>,etc. Thanks! TerryTin
  23. Not sure if this is an issue or a limitation of Publisher. When I use the text tool I cannot zoom in or out. For example — If I am typing in a text box and I want to make a font bigger or smaller I cannot just zoom out, the zoom only works once I click the pointer tool, click off the text box and then zoom out. It's a very simple process but the idea that I have to change the tool, click off the text box, zoom out... and then re-select the text tool and then re-select the text box is a pain in the backside. Surely there is something I'm doing wrong...?? or is that just a limitation of the program and it's un-able to do that? Any help would be much appreciated.
  24. I have included this screen recording demonstrating my issue. I was editing an object using live perspective when I started to zoom back out on the entire photo. When I did, little blocks of it were missing and the checkboxes were showing instead. I closed the app and reloaded it. At first it was fine but when I started to edit, it did it again. In the video, you can see that as I hav the image zoomed out, it is only checks and you can’t see the image. I can zoom in a lot and then slowly zoom out and the image is visible only while my fingers stay on the iPad. All the layers are showing up on the layers window and when I try to use the eye dropper, it still shows the colors. Help?! Thank you, Amber IMG_0181.MP4
  25. I could not select text anymore, tried closing program/reopening but it still didn´t work. Noticed that it suddenly worked when i had the document zoomed out to 50%. To test the issue, select a text, zoom in/out and notice that the selection disappears going above 85%, every time. Version 1.8.3 on a 2017 15" mac pro running Mojave 10.14.6
