  1. Hey guys, as a first video on my new channel, I created a tutorial for a basic astrophotography editing workflow in Photo. Hope some of you will find this helpful - any feedback appreciated!
  2. Hey Everyone, Here is a timelapse video of me creating a watercolor still life painting in Affinity designer. I had a lot of fun playing with the different brushes and testing the different capabilities of the software. Enjoy! Here is the video from start to finish: https://youtu.be/y6l6-wOOf2A Let me know what you think? Thanks, Mike
  3. Pop Up Affinity Photo Tutorial This is a pop up photo manipulation, but I thought I would change it up by adding some floating graphics from the background. The tutorial uses shapes, geometry, blend ranges (blend-if) perspective and more. This Digitally Fearless Affinity Photo tutorial was requested by one of my subscribers. https://youtu.be/z1_drshbedo
  4. Pop Art Face comic style. Affinity Photo Tutorial requested by one of my Digitally Fearless subscribers. This tutorial uses blend modes, FX and a double half tone. https://youtu.be/9R1w1pRsAgU
  5. I took a break over the summer and have now restarted, just passing the 300th video. I aim to do one video of about 5 minutes per day, with content varying from beginner to expert. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOnLUmyPHr2rayOHVHWsHVw Yay!
  6. I recently watched a YouTube video on how to apply a paint splatter effect to a photo in AP. I blindly followed the instructions - which were very clear - and have repeated it several times since, each time experimenting a little to really get a feel for it. I'm fairly confident I now understand WHY I'm doing certain things, but one step refuses to make sense. If anyone can shed some light I'd be very grateful. These are instructions: Use the rectangle tool to draw completely around the image, then drag the resulting layer underneath the background layer Select the background layer, then click the pixel layer button so a new pixel layer is added to the top of the pile Select the brush tool with a strong Grunge texture, paint over the image so most of it is covered with a fairly heavy stipple (in black) Drag the background layer 'into' the pixel layer so it becomes integrated with it. At this point suddenly the image becomes visible again, but textured Add a black and white layer to the top of the stack and adjust the colour sliders to create the best effect Duplicate the white rectangle layer and drag the copy to the top of the stack Apply a gradient to the rectangle and change the colours to something appealing Finally, change the blend mode of the gradient layer to Overlay which reveals the final image All of the above are mainly making sense now, except 4. It's as if the pixel layer becomes a mask, with the black brush strokes revealing the underlying image, but the unpainted areas revealing the white 'canvas' of the very bottom white rectangle. Even if that explanation is correct, I don't know why it works. Can anyone explain how the relationship between the original background and the painted pixel layer changes by dragging the one into the other? I've attached an example in the hope this makes sense.
  7. I've recently started making tutorial videos for Affinity Photo, putting them up on YouTube. The channel is 'InAffinity'. There's already nine videos there. The focus is mostly on short, specific 'how to's, including 'How to do X in N different ways'. Mostly because that's what I like. I'm an old engineer, photographer and educator, and have a tendency to seek detail and then share it. Once I get going, I'm usually pretty persistent. My 'other site' is ChangingMinds.org, which I've been writing for over 15 years. For the technically curious, I'm using Camtasia as a recording/editing system, capturing at 1920 HD.
  8. Hi all, I'm a French gamedev and now I will share my drawing workflow with Affinity Designer on youtube. If you like this kind of content, comment and like to help me stay focus on it :) Surf video
  9. Hello Everyone ! Hello Team ! Today i'm coming with this clear suggestion: Could Serif start making (and inviting) peoples and users to live webinar or YouTube Live which will be more organized like Masterclasses ? What's the point for this ? Well, in fact it is not bad to have short courses or content like the one we see and have on the respective YouTube channels (Photo, Designer and Publisher) but when it comes to really practical way of all this ... it gets really complicated i mean, if i want to achieve a project using APhoto and i want to process some massive Dodge and Burning (the Affinity way) but in the same time i don't know about layers and what they are used for, then i will be tempted to work in a really destructive way with almost Zero possibility to recover. So to fix that, the better will be that i attend a Masterclass/Webinar which Topic will be Layers and where i will learn not only about layers but about most of creative and most needed operations that can be done using layers (dodge and burning included). A 1h long with 3 or 4 examples is enough and then i will ask question about that precise topic and get answers. This will make people progress really fast, drop the pressure level in the forum and make every people who really are invested to progress together and deliver good or simply much better. The Masterclass can also be the opportunity to have those people you are presenting on Spotlight to not only talk about this and that but come connect with Affinity community though a Webinar/Masterclass for a 1h long sharing. There are many things that can become a Masterclass topic, from Text to Paragraph to Adjustment Layers etc. Also Webinar/YouTube live Masterclass can be the very place to showcase the current Beta through kind of 30min. Okay ! here is toom much line of text. I leave it here for everyone to read and bring necessary inputs, the idea is global but only the community can refine it. Blessings
  10. Hi Everyone! Today I published first episode of 1-minute graphic tips series called "Minutnik graficzny" (graphic stopwatch) #1 How to set the contrast of a photo: I decided to make it in polish, because there is a lot of english content already, however if someone non-polish-speaking would like to check it, there are english subtitles. I believe there are some polish people on this forum, so I hope to get some feedback. I'm going to publish here updates, especially for episodes connected with Affinity sofware. Lets affinitize Poland!

  13. Hi, I have a series of tutorials about Affinity Photo iPad in german on Youtube:
  14. Hello, This thread is just a question for the moderators. I've been noticing a lot of youtube videos popping up on my recommend that are taken directly from the Affinity Vimeo account. I'd like to know if this is intentional from the team. Or perhaps someone may be freebooting these videos in which case this is a PSA. Thank you.
  15. I was not quite sure where to post this but anyway, Back to the Mac is a weekly Mac-centric YouTube show that "considers all things Mac," produced by the 9to5Mac web site. Episode 2 is about the author's favorite apps, & Affinity Photo is the second one he discusses. There apparently is a giveaway of some sort (read the "more" blurb) with a copy of Affinity Photo & the Workbook as the prize.

  19. Hi guys, So, basically the title says it all, AP jitters when zooming/enabling/disabling layers, basically at every click of the mouse AP decides to jitter around. I provided a performance setting and an example in the video below, any suggestion on how to solve it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6DofUr5zp0&feature=youtu.be Please turn on the resolution to 1080p, and no, the preview jitter is not youtube fault, is far more apparent on my screen when working with AP yeah I don't know hot to post a youtube link since it gets deleted so I just attached a .txt file with the link inside, no it's not spam, no it's not ads AP preview jitter bug.txt
