  1. Hi guys! I've been working on this template file to create social media branding material for my clients. I've managed to create a single file with multiple artboards (each one with it's export presets) ready for use. You are welcome to delete the ones that you will not use (so you don't generate empty files on export). It also includes flat icons from each platform just in case you might need them. It's updated for 2017 according to this data from Social Sprout. Hope you find it as useful as me. Leave a comment if you like/use it. If you are going to post it anywhere else, please add the proper credits Thanks! social-media-templates.afdesign
  2. Hi, this Affinity Photo tutorial is all about enhancing the sky. The subject is complex because there are different types of sky. Pale blue, completely overcast or bulky clouds. So I show 8 ways to improve skies using 3 different photos. I wish you fun and inspiration. Ciao Jack
  3. Hi, in this Affinity Photo tutorial I show many small steps how to enhance each color individually. Ciao Jack
  4. I've spend the Summer indexing all 550+ YouTube videos on Affinity Photo I've done via my InAffinity channel. This includes web pages (in my ChangingMinds website) for... ...every video, including brief notes and links to categories (effectively 'tags') in which it is included ...each category, with links to every video in that category ...a list of every video, by date of publication The online InAffinity index is here: http://changingminds.org/disciplines/photography/affinity_photo/inaffinity_video_index.htm The video describing the index is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7L7ZciRiO3M
  5. Hi, In this Affinity Photo Tutorial I show you how to improve the contrast and coloring of a low-contrast photo on a rainy day. For me, this day was emotional but the photo was disappointing because of the rain and the low light. So I found a way to rescue some of my impressions of my hiking day. I wish you fun. Ciao Jack
  6. Hi, this my first tutorial with the new Affinity Photo V2. A rather bland photo is edited. I remove the haze and realistically enhance colors and contrast. In doing so, I will go into the new features of Affinity Photo V2. I wish you fun. Ciao Jack
  7. Hi, In this Affinity Photo tutorial I show how to remove haze while preserving the fog and getting the colors back. The haze filter got over the years a new and improved engine and adjustments. I wish you fun and inspiration. Ciao Jack
  8. Hi, in this tutorial, I show you to solve a typical problem in autumn: You see beautiful autumn colors but the sun is extremely bright, and therefore the colors seemed to burn out, meanwhile the shadows are too dark. I show how to fix this situation. I wish you fun with the video. Ciao Jack
  9. Dear Serif, Please make the Youtube tutorials for V2 listed, so that whenever I want to find what, for example, a certain image filter does, I can just type its name and look it up on Youtube. I prefer looking at your videos instead of reading the docs. However, none of the videos come up in searches, so I find (in my opinion) lower quality third party videos instead.
  10. Hello, here I enhanced a shot of the medieval old town of San Gimignano in Tuscany/Italy. I took this photo with a tripod and a 13 second exposure. With Affinity Photo, I worked on the light conditions to achieve a dramatic and romantic atmosphere, like it was. I wish you fun with the video. Ciao Jack
  11. Hi, I'm Nekodificador, visual artist and content creator from Spain. I have a Youtube channel where I show my workflows, secrets and teach retouching and compositing throught tutorials. I fell in love with Affinity Photo but when I wanted to change from Photoshop it took me a while to learn it, so I did a video where I show how to do a few things in Photoshop and how to "translate" them into Affinity Photo. It is in spanish, but I hope it will be useful for everyone. Btw, it seem like we have new brothers in our community after this video. Oops hahah
  12. 13. Hi, I shot some photos and stacked them together to a manipulation. I used several methods like photo stacking, crop, perspective warp, color changing, create shadows, selective exposure and dodge & burn. I wish you fun with this video und feel free to show your results and ideas. Ciao Jack
  14. Hello, my goal is to make a youtube thumbnail where my object (video console) has an outline. I removed the background from the picture, smoothed the edge and then I added a red outline at the effect panel. The outline is not smooth. Instead it looks distorted - it has many pumps / waves to the edge. There is no option to smooth the outline. How can I achieve a clean outline in Designer or Photo?
  15. Hi, this is a Affinity Photo tutorial on YouTube. I took 5 photos to create a new one. Fantasy Island. This video is not in real time, but as a kind of speed art tutorial. There are a lot of steps and layers. Selections, transform, warp, color corrections, shadows, water splashes etc. ... I wish you fun with the video. Ciao Jack P.S.: You can activate english subtitles with the gear icon in the YouTube window.
  16. Hi, this is a Affinity Photo tutorial on YouTube. I shot this photo on a photo walk. It was already autumn, but I show how to create a very colorful changes. I show two methods. So you can choose your workflow. And because there are different layers, you can choose the the colors and the intensity. Have fun and feel free to show your results. Ciao Jack P.S.: You can activate english subtitles with the gear icon in the YouTube window.
  17. Hey guys, as a first video on my new channel, I created a tutorial for a basic astrophotography editing workflow in Photo. Hope some of you will find this helpful - any feedback appreciated!
  18. Hey Everyone, Here is a timelapse video of me creating a watercolor still life painting in Affinity designer. I had a lot of fun playing with the different brushes and testing the different capabilities of the software. Enjoy! Here is the video from start to finish: https://youtu.be/y6l6-wOOf2A Let me know what you think? Thanks, Mike
  19. Pop Up Affinity Photo Tutorial This is a pop up photo manipulation, but I thought I would change it up by adding some floating graphics from the background. The tutorial uses shapes, geometry, blend ranges (blend-if) perspective and more. This Digitally Fearless Affinity Photo tutorial was requested by one of my subscribers. https://youtu.be/z1_drshbedo
  20. Pop Art Face comic style. Affinity Photo Tutorial requested by one of my Digitally Fearless subscribers. This tutorial uses blend modes, FX and a double half tone. https://youtu.be/9R1w1pRsAgU
  21. I took a break over the summer and have now restarted, just passing the 300th video. I aim to do one video of about 5 minutes per day, with content varying from beginner to expert. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOnLUmyPHr2rayOHVHWsHVw Yay!
  22. I recently watched a YouTube video on how to apply a paint splatter effect to a photo in AP. I blindly followed the instructions - which were very clear - and have repeated it several times since, each time experimenting a little to really get a feel for it. I'm fairly confident I now understand WHY I'm doing certain things, but one step refuses to make sense. If anyone can shed some light I'd be very grateful. These are instructions: Use the rectangle tool to draw completely around the image, then drag the resulting layer underneath the background layer Select the background layer, then click the pixel layer button so a new pixel layer is added to the top of the pile Select the brush tool with a strong Grunge texture, paint over the image so most of it is covered with a fairly heavy stipple (in black) Drag the background layer 'into' the pixel layer so it becomes integrated with it. At this point suddenly the image becomes visible again, but textured Add a black and white layer to the top of the stack and adjust the colour sliders to create the best effect Duplicate the white rectangle layer and drag the copy to the top of the stack Apply a gradient to the rectangle and change the colours to something appealing Finally, change the blend mode of the gradient layer to Overlay which reveals the final image All of the above are mainly making sense now, except 4. It's as if the pixel layer becomes a mask, with the black brush strokes revealing the underlying image, but the unpainted areas revealing the white 'canvas' of the very bottom white rectangle. Even if that explanation is correct, I don't know why it works. Can anyone explain how the relationship between the original background and the painted pixel layer changes by dragging the one into the other? I've attached an example in the hope this makes sense.
  23. I've recently started making tutorial videos for Affinity Photo, putting them up on YouTube. The channel is 'InAffinity'. There's already nine videos there. The focus is mostly on short, specific 'how to's, including 'How to do X in N different ways'. Mostly because that's what I like. I'm an old engineer, photographer and educator, and have a tendency to seek detail and then share it. Once I get going, I'm usually pretty persistent. My 'other site' is ChangingMinds.org, which I've been writing for over 15 years. For the technically curious, I'm using Camtasia as a recording/editing system, capturing at 1920 HD.
  24. Hi all, I'm a French gamedev and now I will share my drawing workflow with Affinity Designer on youtube. If you like this kind of content, comment and like to help me stay focus on it :) Surf video
