  1. We don't maintain a list of compatible Graphics Cards but in order to enable Hardware Acceleration in Affinity V1 products on Windows, your system must meet the following requirements: Operating System: Windows 10.0.19041 (May 2020) GPU: Any GPU capable of Direct3D12 Feature Level 12.0 Intel Earliest Supported GPUs - Skylake Microarchitecture HD Graphics 510 NVIDIA Earliest Supported GPUs - Maxwell Microarchitecture GeForce 900/Titan series AMD Earliest Supported GPUs - GCN2 Microarchitecture HD 7790/8770 Rx 260/290 Please note: AMD Radeon RX 5000 series and later cards are currently incompatible.
  2. Due to performance related issues with AMD GPU drivers, our developers decided to disable Hardware Acceleration for AMD Radeon RX 5000 series and later cards in the 1.9.1 update. We've notified AMD of the issue and we're awaiting their response. More information can be found in the below thread - Update -
  3. We're aware of an issue where our apps can crash if you're using an Nvidia GPU and you have Capture One installed with Windows Explorer Integration enabled. We've reported the issue to Nvidia to be fixed but you can workaround this issue by: Changing the default Renderer in Preferences > Performance to a non Nvidia device or Disable Windows Explorer Integration in Capture One or rename the WIC64 folder in Capture One's installation folder in Program Files More information can be found here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/134369-nvwgf2umxdll-crashes/&do=findComment&comment=751664
  4. Sorry if this is a repeat. I do not see the ability to export to an .afdesign file type from the ipad app. I only see .svg and when I export to .svg all of my layers and groupings turn into a jumbled mess on the desktop. I see that I am unable to access the designer files on my ipad directly is there a way to do this or is the only way to access those files is through saving files directly to icloud?
  5. I am experiencing an issue where I am unable to save new files to a specific drive on my system. This issue did not arise with 1.9.1 and was definitely present in 1.9.0. I'm unsure exactly when it started but it persists in 1.9.1 so I figured this was appropriate. Whenever I attempt to save a new file it results in the "Failed to save document: <Untitled>" "Save failed because access to the file was lost" dialogue. A file is subsequently created on the drive, but with size 0kb. I did find similar issues reported in the forum, but these all seemed to deal with external storage or network drives. In this case, the hard drive in question is neither. It is a standard internal hard drive Seagate ST250DM000-1BD141. Saving to any of the other five drives installed in my system ( one of which is an identical model ) works perfectly fine. I am able to open files which already exist on the drive in question. I am able to save to another drive, move the file to the offending drive, and subsequent saving works as expected. Only new files saved directly cause this issue. The issue is of course infinitely replicable as it happens even with a fresh install of Affinity Designer. I have attempted a full reinstall. Wiping preferences followed by a full reinstall. I've checked permissions to the drive in question multiple times. I monitored the windows event log for any hints. I attempted disabling all anti-virus software. I tried disabling my font manager. I even disabled google drive sync ( which I am not trying to save to ) just in case it was somehow interfering. It's possible, even likely, the issue is still unique to my system but I've run out of leads to chase. OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro N Version: 10.0.019041 Build 19041 Affinity Version: 1.9.1.979
  7. The Affinity OpenCL Disabler is a little Windows based support tool, which will search and check for the availability of the PerformancePreferences.xml files (and inside those especially the existance and value setting of the <UseHardwareAcceleration> field) in Affinity for Windows release product installments. It's main purpose is to automatically disable the OpenCL hardware acceleration settings for the GPU in PerformancePreferences.xml files, which when as default enabled can lead on some Windows systems to crashes of Affinity application due to possible GPU driver incompatibilities. So if these settings are as default enabled, this tool will disable these settings for Affinity release programs. The tools main window looks like this ... ... and when started does a first automatic search after PerformancePreferences.xml files and their contents. It's console output box lists (outputs) what it processes and found out so far. The console also prints some hints for the next steps to take (pressing related image buttons) in order to disable related found OpenCL settings. Further during processing the top big image buttons change to indicate the found out states, their tooltips do change too dynamically and give here further related hints. - The tools top three big affinity image buttons do always show the found out state of the as installed found Affinity apps (Photo, Designer and Publisher). The tool actually searches only for Affinity Store, MS Store and Test releases of Affinity app versions, Affinity Beta versions are here excluded from the automatic search facility and thus not yet taken into account. No applications or PerformancePreferences.xml settings file found ... ... these image buttons are shown if no application related settings file are found, meaning there are probably no related Affinity apps installed on the Windows system. PerformancePreferences.xml settings file found but it has no <UseHardwareAcceleration> field entry ... ... clicking on one of the above shown "OpenCL No entry" image buttons will create a corresponding entry into the related PerformancePreferences.xml file, but will flag it to OpenCL disabled (False) and thus disable hardware acceleration. Hardware acceleration OpenCL related setting as enabled found ... ... clicking on one of the above shown "OpenCL enabled" image buttons will edit/change the corresponding PerformancePreferences.xml file entry to OpenCL disabled (False) and thus disable hardware acceleration. The state this program always aims to reach is to disable all the OpenCL hardware acceleration settings and thus it should finally ideally show these image buttons here ... ... if the obove shown images are shown, OpenCL is disabled for the Affinity Windows apps, which might hopefully help to prevent possible default app crashes then. [x] Create any missing performance XML files When this checkbox is enabled during clicking on any of the above shown image buttons then a possibly missing performance XML files can be initially auto-generated. The Affinity OpenCL Disabler then looks during it's scan after any related Affinity product if it's settings directory is available (does exist), if the directory exists but there is no PerformancePreferences.xml settings file found inside, then an initial PerformancePreferences.xml will be generated and created in the corresponding settings directory! - Such a scan and XML file creation is only performed when this checkbox is enabled and one of the above Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer or Affinity Publisher icon buttons are pressed! NOTE: The tool comes along with some HTML based help contents (see the file in: ..\help\help_en.html) which you should read. From inside the running tool the help is accessable via the little [?] show help button. The HTML based help can be alternatively opened (the file help_en.html) from inside the supplied help directory with your local webbrowser. Installation: In order to use Affinity OpenCL Disabler you must have an actual installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 (or a newer version) on your computer. To install Affinity OpenCL Disabler, just copy the contents of it's ZIP file into a directory of your choice. Where the AffinityOclChecker.exe file is the main Affinity OpenCL Disabler file, which must be executed in order to run the tool. In the following table, <somedir> refers to an installation directory of your choice. File to copy Target directory Contents of AffinityOclChecker.zip <somedir>/AffinityOclChecker/ To start the Affinity OpenCL Disabler you can just do a double click on it's EXE file, afterwards the Affinity OpenCL Disabler tool should appear and is ready to use. Here is the little AffinityOclChecker Windows based program, it's zipped (archived) thus remember that you have first to extract (unzip) it in order to use it: AffinityOclChecker.zip(v1.0a) AffinityOclChecker_v1.2.zip (v1.2) AffinityOclChecker_v1.3.zip(v1.3) I hope that it might be useful for the one or other Affinity forum user, regards v_kyr!

  12. At some point when adding a new guide, all the guides disappear. I tried to "Show Guides" (Ctrl+;) again, but no success. You can see the guides on the ruler area, but not on the work area. Had to close the application and open it again to make it work. Very annoying! I don't remember having this problem before last update. Running Affinity Designer version 1.9.0.932 Windows 10 Pro v.10.0.19042 Build 19042
  13. Hi, I'm getting confused how Affinity Photo handles "Color Formats" like RGB8, RGB16, RGB32. Question 1: How many colors are displayed for and RGB8 Color Format? To test how many colors are visible, i created a very simple test document: Create new 3840x2160 document with RGB8 and P3 profile Create a procedural text filter which creates the smoothest possible gradient from black to white. This will create steps of 1/3840 create a second procedural text filter which creates steps of 1 /256 (and is adjustable by the slides for later steps) Now the fun part begins. If you disable / enable the top layer you will see visible changes - meaning Photo will display a gradient with smaller steps than possible in 8 bit. Changing the blend mode of the top layer to "difference" will confirm both layers are different. This is a surprise for me. You may need a levels adjustment to emphasize the difference. Actually it seems like Photo is rendering a much higher color channel depth than 8 bit - even if the pixel layer is restricted to 8 bit. Is there a good explanation for this observation? My assumption is that RGB8 layers are strictly limited to 8 bit depth for each color channel, and only 256 different gray scales are possible. But the observations above prove it wrong.
  14. Can we please have the option of these buttons for PHOTO? They are in DESIGNER as in the picture attached. They are would be most useful in photo as well. Thank you Gary
  15. Hi. Disaster release 1.9 contains another bug: Select a layer (inside a group) in a layer stack, have an object in clipboard, click Insert at the top of the layer button, it gets highlighted, but on paste the object appears at the top of the layer stack. It worked flawlessly in all other previous releases I can think of since like version 1.5. Same goes when the same button is selected and one clicks New Layer icon.
  16. Good moring. Since version 1.9 I cannot export to .jpg formats anymore. Does anybody have the same experience?
  17. Hi from Austria I have the same problem with the focus merge function since updating to 1.9, like Freixas and Hank Schoch --> forum.affinity - All focus stacks are the same: the bottom fourth of the screen is black. Will our problem be solved soon? When? I bought the app on 08.08.2020 and I use Windows 10 Thanks a lot. Jolanta P.
  18. Hi all. When I updated designer from 1.8.5 to 19.0.932, after loading I see only startup screen with name and version of product. I updated intel drivers (620), .NET Framework is 4.8 version (latest), C++ redistibutable 2019. Windows 10 64bit. i5-7200 graphics 620 NVIDIA 940MX With version 1.8.5 I have no problems. I greet everyone.
  19. I have two objects in a document (below), a green rectangle and a pink ellipse. And I have a document palette. If I right-click on the pink ellipse and choose Add to Swatches > From Fill as Global, the color is added to the document palette. However, if I right-click on the green rectangle and choose Add to Swatches > From Fill as Global, the color is not added to the document palette. Why not? I can right-click on the green rectangle and choose Add to Swatches > From Fill, and it is added to the document palette. I can then right-click on that swatch and choose Make Global, and it becomes Global. Why can't I add it directly? (In case it matters, the two objects were created from Assets. The assets are also embedded in the document. I don't remember doing anything special or odd when creating the assets, but I don't really remember how I created them a few weeks ago.) 20. Down loaded latest version for windows yesterday 4th Feb 21, working on photo and whole system keeps shutting down off current workload while editing photos. reopen and lost selection of open files. Has now done it four time.
  21. Our 1.9 updates added support for OpenCL compute acceleration on Windows which is enabled by default. It can be disabled in the app by going to Edit > Preferences > Performance and unticking Enable OpenCL compute acceleration. However, if you're having issues launching the app and you suspect that OpenCL compute acceleration is causing the issue you can manually edit PerformancePreferences.xml in %AppData%\<APPNAME>\1.0\Settings\ You will need to change the following line from: <UseHardwareAcceleration>True</UseHardwareAcceleration> to <UseHardwareAcceleration>False</UseHardwareAcceleration> Please be aware that if you haven't been able to launch the app since updating to 1.9, you will not have this line and will need to add it just before the </Settings> closing tag like so: <UseHardwareAcceleration>False</UseHardwareAcceleration> </Settings> Once you've made these changes, please try and launch the app again. More information about OpenCL compute acceleration can be found here: Hardware acceleration (affinity.help)
  22. 'Export' from Photo - png and gifs are fine, but jpgs only want to 'save as' affinity files. Same problem with Designer.
  23. Hello Affinity Team, GREAT UPDATE! Request! ( for all the programs , designer, photo, and publisher ) when i downloading content from the account window, I and probably other really need the option to where its downloaded to. My C drive is OS only. I have all my programs and content on D drive. I need the ability to save or move these downloads off my C drive as there is limited space for the OS only. Is there a way now to move them and re add the assests manually? Perhaps a option for downloads later release? Gary
  24. Contour Clone with ALT not working Is there something wrong with THE CONTOUR TOOL? It says holding down ALT will clone it , it doesn't? Thank you Gary
  25. The 1.9 upgrades look fantastic. Question. After registration you can download some of the free packs, like the snow in PHOTO. Where are they downloaded to? no path showing. Can you change the path? I don't have my affinity software on my C drive. Just the OS, so I would like to choose where they go and know where they are. Right now i can't even find them. Gary
