  1. Hi, I just bought Affinity Designer and Photo. I have 2 PCs at home, being the only user of them. One is with Win8 another with Win10. What is the licensing model for Affinity? Can I install the software on both machines, or I am allowed only on one machine to have them. I wasn't successful in finding this information on the website. I think it would be a good idea if you actually make it clear. Thanks!

  5. Hello Experts I am new to Affinity Photo, as I was exploring with Raw files I clicked with my Canon 80D, few images opened just fine and I could work properly. However few Raw images got imported with light BLUE shade, and Few images opened ALL BLOWN out, and whatever i did , I was not able to make improvements. What intrigued me more was the fact that another image clicked of same object, and around same time and light condition, opened absolutely fine. I am enclosing the blown out imported image in photo. I am also enclosing the files with Normal import and the one with blue shade I am on Windows OS, and Affinity Photo is 1.8.0.585 Would really appreciate any help in letting me solve the issue. Thanks Manish

  7. When trying to export my publication, I get an error message saying there was an error on exporting to PDF. If I export as a spread, no error. If I do pages, there's an error. It's a 99 page project, I spent an hour exporting ranges of pages and found if I do 1-84, no error, but 1-85 causes an error. I converted everything on p85 to curves and tried again, still an error. Oddly, I can export 85-99 without an error. So, no idea what's going on here. Help! Shadowrun_Genesys_v1_-_Final.afpub Fonts.7z

  9. I mainly like to work on a surface for photo editing thanks to the great screen, pen input and touchscreen. I think a lot of people also like surface as a photo editing machine. After seeing the Ipad version of Affinity photo it left me a bit wanting of the traditional desktop UI on devices like the surface however. It is a great UI experience when using the device in laptop/desktop mode, but when you want the paint with the pen for example, the experience turns bad quickly. I allready struggled with the fact that touch input is seen as the same as a mouse click instead of panning the canvas, so using the touchscreen as a main navigation tool is not that intuïtive, but after seeing the Ipad version, a lot more things pop out to me like "damn that's a good idea, I wish my surface could do that". I was wondering if Windows 10's tablet mode could be more integrated with the application, like switching to the Ipads UI when tablet mode is activated, so that editing on a device like the surface is a lot more comfortable. This would mean that someone could just flip the keyboard and work in the document with a UI tailored for tablets, and flip it back to tablet mode when wants a more desktop like experience. Are there plans to implement such features into the desktop app? Or is there a touch based UWP app in the works? I was really blown away in how good the Ipad UI actually is, and I really think a more integrated experience into Windows' built in tablet mode will help a lot of people in their workflow.
  10. Hi yesterday I bought Affinity Photo, before I used Ps. My problem is I am switching quite often from my PC to Laptop and now I am trying to sync my stuff between my devices. (I know affinity is not cloud based like photoshop, but I am trying to do like a own thing with my Nas) I already was able to sync my workspace via my NAS. So in which folders/files are the brushes and fonts stored? Bzw other important files? then I can sync my them via my nas Thanks Willibald

  13. Hi, I am a scientist and Affinity Designer is my de-facto first choice for making illustrations for papers, posters, etc. Because it's great, and it's affordable. But making a scientific poster is a hassle. A true hassle. Because I do need to use equations. How does one import an equation into a Designer? I found several options, none really works for posters -- keep reading: 1) create a small LaTeX document; (a) compile into PDF; have hours of "fun" with fonts and import options. (b) alternatively, compile into a PostScript, open a file browser, rename PS into EPS, drag-and-drop, if you're lucky, sometimes I managed to make it work. Caveat: if you have many equations, they need to be in individual EPS files, otherwise Designer will not like one EPS file constantly getting changed. (Bonus: open your poster from a year ago with 20 EPS figures in it. Click 20 times on a popup window saying the source has changed because you re-ran the computer simulation which created them. After clicking on one popup, wait for a smooth animation as 19 other popups slide around your screen. Repeat 19 times. Then, you can access your poster. Probably.) 2) use online converters. The one I know that reliably works is www.codecogs.com . But it does not allow for fonts bigger than 20 pts, and fonts in posters are at least 24 pts. So when I really need to insert an equation I do this: (a) type it in codecogs, (b) download SVG file (copypasting from the browser results in a little black rectangle instead of the equation). So download the file, open the file browser, drag and drop. Not into the poster, that would be too easy. Because then, I'll need to manually resize the image to match my font size. I have devised some templates to insert the file into and either resize to match the size of a sample character, or type in numbers in Designer's "transform" tool, for which I need a calculator at hand (would be nice to download in 12pt and resize in Designer by 200%, but alas - so I use a calculator). None of this is a good working solution if you need like 20 equations. Is there a working solution? I have heard of LaTeXit, but that won't work in Windows. MS Office has some weird equation editor, but that won't copypaste to Designer. Every single time I make a poster, I often spend hours searching for other options online and it gets inexplicably frustrating. Every. Single. Time! When I need a lot of equations, I make a LaTeX save them all as a PS, then convert to EPS (they still have to fit on one page), then open it in a separate Designer window, then convert to curves, then "Group" curves corresponding to all symbols in a single equation, then resize in bulk, then copypaste. Aaarrrggghhh. Has anyone have found any working solution? As I said, the solutions above work if you have one equation, but are a true hassle if you need to put in a dozen. (Unless there is an alternative to codecogs that lets you set large font size and hopefully works as a copypaste?) It would be really great for more than just posters, as I often use Designer for illustrations, in which sometimes I need to use equations, too -- that would make me never want to quit the Designer ever. Thanks!
  14. Don't upgrade to this version, it's got a serious bug that makes it unusable. It breaks all the text on everything on windows 10!
  15. So I've been having some serious issues with Grid management on the windows version of Photo. It doesn't ever line up properly with the size of the canvas which is quite an irritation. This is how it looks with Auto Grid turned on. See how the right side is cut off? What is causing this?
  16. Is it possible to setup the menu layout on Affinity so that every time it is opened, certain menus are already showing (i.e. layers, colour, etc.)? Ideally if there is a way of setting this through Group Policy, a registry change that can be sent out, as we have this on over 150 machines.
  17. I still feel AP's "Window" menu needs expanding with other functions (cascade, side by side, etc.) so I don't use it very often and maybe this issue is not related only to the latest beta version...? Anyway, I had two windows/documents opened and I minimized them. I expected to see them on the bottom of the main AP window (is that right?) but they both disappeared. They were still listed in Window menu but clicking on them did not do anything. I even created a new document and it was invisible too. To display the documents again I had to use Dock or Alt-Tab from AP and back.
  18. You guys are selling this in your store. Bought it with you 50% off promotion, but its seriously slow. To the point its not worth using. Is it the brushes or Affinity Designer or Photo? Slow in both. All other brushes are fine. Not my computer at fault..Can't buy much faster than this. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/store/product/daub-paintbox-brush-pack/ If you dont' have a fix, i wouldn't mind my money back as its pretty useless the way it is. While running Affinity Photo in batch mode for JPG processing (to apply custom macro filter) the tool is crashing right after hitting OK button in "New Batch Job" Dialog box. I have tried unchecking Parallel processing option but to no avail. Please find the marco file attached for replicating issue. JPG photo resolution is 1702x2560 pixel. 20. Hi there, I bought Affinity on the app sore on my mac and have recently got a new desk top windows PC. I was looking to get affinity on this machine too as i know you can have it on a number of machines if its just you using it. When i go to sign into my account, it dose not recognise the email address that is associated with my apple ID. Is there a way for me to get this on both PC and Mac without having to purchase two licences Thanks!
  21. Hello, I have imported a CR2 file (EOS 80D) into Affinity Photo (Windows) Unfortunately the color representation does not fit and differs from the jpg. But in the normal display in Windows both pictures look identical. What can I do? Thanks Schrimm

  23. Nothing spectacular here, just clickbait. I would just like to know if we perhaps get assistance in understanding the xml partially controlling how the applications start up. A while ago someone asked if it is possible to start a new document with transparent background as default. Of course this is possible if you create a new document and set the background to transparent. The application saves this information to Document.xml and next time the application is restarted the transparent background is checked again ... until ... a document was created with no transparent background. Once transparent background is saved you can lock Document.xml for writing. Another use case could be the export preset (Export.xml). Same here. Once you made a different export, the type will be saved. So we have to write-protect here also to keep my defaults. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Settings xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xsi:type="Serif.Interop.Persona.Settings.ExportSettings"> <Format>PDF</Format> <Preview>False</Preview> <ExportFormats> <ExportFormat Format="PNG" Preset="PNG" /> <ExportFormat Format="JPEG" Preset="JPEG (Höchste Qualität)" /> <ExportFormat Format="TIFF" Preset="TIFF CMYK" /> <ExportFormat Format="PDF" Preset="My Web-Export" /> <ExportFormat Format="EPS" Preset="EPS (for web)" /> <ExportFormat Format="WMF" Preset="Enhanced Windows Metafile" /> </ExportFormats> </Settings> Hmm, the more I read my own post the more I think it is superfluos. Plus I don't know if locking up the xml would have side-effects on the applications. Thoughts?

  25. Hi, How can I use Windows True Type fonts in Affinity apps? I have over 2500 True Type fonts on my system and only a few of them show up in Affinity. Thank you.
