  1. Hi all, I'm new using AP and I'm reading some tutorials in order to learn how to use it. There is something that I need to get sorted out as soon as possible and I don't find the way to do it after reading other publications in this forum... maybe you may help me.. I have different fonts in .otf format that I would like to apply to AP for Windows but it brings me crazy because I don't find any specific fonts folder within the Affinity folder and I'm not sure where should I copy the fonts to be uploaded them. My apologies if I'm asking something very simple but I'm 100% beginner using image editing programs. Thanks a mil, Lidia
  2. Hi, I have the trial version of affinity photo, and am considering buying the full version but was wondering is it just the trial version on affinity photo that is missing the text and mesh warp tool? On windows. Thanks.
  3. Hi, I have the Affinity Photo Trial Version, I am planning on buying the product but as I was testing it out I noticed that neither the text on the left bar nor the mesh warp tool on the left bar were there. Will these be there in the full verison. I do use Windows. Please let me know. Thanks!
  4. I am new to Affinity Designer, and looking to thin out a fixed width text (I need a thinner version of the text on a different layer for printing purposes). This is possible in Adobe Illustrator through the use of a negative "offset path", but I cannot figure out how to do it in Affinity, which does not appear to have an offset path feature. The latest post I can find re:Offset Paths in Affinity Designer: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/30221-offset-path/ Here is how people do this in Illustrator: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/22315/how-to-make-a-font-thinner http://www.alison.co.uk/2011/11/22/how-to-make-a-fixed-font-thinner-in-illustrator/ Does anyone have a technique for achieving the same goal in Affinity Designer?
  5. Hey guys! :) Just joined this forum and started using the trial of Photo. I am coming (what a surprise) from Photoshop and really miss a option in Photo to configure which button has to be pressed for zooming in with the scroll wheel. I am really used to using the "ALT" button (Im on Windows btw) in pair with the scroll wheel. The standard seems to be a combination of "CTRL + Scroll". Other than that I am really impressed with Photo. My not-so-powerful notebook flies through the program; this wouldn´t be possible with Photoshop. (My gaming PC on the other hand just doesn´t care if its open and running  ) Awesome work! When there is money to spare I will buy this awesome piece of software B)
  6. I mainly like to work on a surface for photo editing thanks to the great screen, pen input and touchscreen. I think a lot of people also like surface as a photo editing machine. After seeing the Ipad version of Affinity photo it left me a bit wanting of the traditional desktop UI on devices like the surface however. It is a great UI experience when using the device in laptop/desktop mode, but when you want the paint with the pen for example, the experience turns bad quickly. I allready struggled with the fact that touch input is seen as the same as a mouse click instead of panning the canvas, so using the touchscreen as a main navigation tool is not that intuïtive, but after seeing the Ipad version, a lot more things pop out to me like "damn that's a good idea, I wish my surface could do that". I was wondering if Windows 10's tablet mode could be more integrated with the application, like switching to the Ipads UI when tablet mode is activated, so that editing on a device like the surface is a lot more comfortable. This would mean that someone could just flip the keyboard and work in the document with a UI tailored for tablets, and flip it back to tablet mode when wants a more desktop like experience. Are there plans to implement such features into the desktop app? Or is there a touch based UWP app in the works? I was really blown away in how good the Ipad UI actually is, and I really think a more integrated experience into Windows' built in tablet mode will help a lot of people in their workflow.
  7. Hi, I own an older version of ipad (about 4 years old), a 2014 dell laptop and a recent Mac pro. Do I need to purchase three license? Sincerely, Raj
  8. Hi guys! I've had Affinity Designer for a while and I love it. Unfortunately my Mac Book bit the dust recently and transitioned to a Windows Laptop. Is there any way to get AD for my new laptop without having to repurchase the app?
  9. I have bought Affinity Designer for Windows. If I was to make the transition to Mac would I have to re-purchase the program? or would my product key still work for Mac as well. Please And Thank You
  10. Topaz Labs is currently offering Topaz Studio as a free standalone or Plugin for both Windows and Mac. I tried the Windows version. It installed OK and it also installed into Affinity with no problems. Topaz Studio seems to be a general editing program to act as a host for other Topaz plugins. This host program/plugin is free and you can add additional free or paid-for 'adjustments'. From ten minutes working on an image, my conclusion is that the Topaz Studio host does not offer anything that Affinity Photo does not, so I feel that it is well worth the money! I have to say that the interface was not particularly clear. If you thought that the Affinity black-on-black UI is bad, you ain't seen nothing yet! It could be that a more thorough investigation would reveal more uses.
  11. Affinity Designer for Windows 1.6.0 is now live (this is an older thread). We are pleased to announce the second update for Affinity Designer for Windows (version 1.5.3). The update can be downloaded from here. Once downloaded, close Affinity Designer and run (double click) the downloaded EXE to install it. A list of the fixes this release contains is being prepared and will be posted shortly. To install this version you will need to have the Affinity Designer for Windows already installed OR you will need to type in your email address and a valid Product key when prompted. When installing on top of an existing version you will not be prompted for the product key. If you need it you can find your product key (and a download button) in your Affinity store account, where you will also find the email address used to generate the key when you ordered the software. If you have installed any previous customer beta version of Affinity Designer 1.5.3, that beta can be safely uninstalled before or after installing this release update, they are independent installs. The beta will stop working soon anyway. Please report any problems you have installing or using this new version in the Windows forum here Patrick Connor The Affinity Team

  13. Unless you have been living under a rock, you probably already have heard about the WannaCry (a.k.a. WannaCrypt) ransomware outbreak that has affected an estimated 200K Windows computers in over 150 countries. The security flaw it exploits has been patched with updates from Microsoft (including for Windows XP), but unless you install the latest Windows update for your OS version, you are vulnerable. Note that this malware includes a worm -- it silently propagates over networks -- so even if you are very careful about phishing attacks & opening spam, if you are on the same network as someone who is not & you are not running the latest update of your Windows version, you are still vulnerable. Be safe! Update your OS ASAP if you have not already done so!
  14. Hi I've seen this video about macros https://vimeo.com/202743232 But I can't do the preseted in the video, when I clic in the layer when recording, pops up a message saying that I cannot record "set current selection" what I'm doing bad? I use Ap 1.5.1.54 in windows 10
  15. Apply image and color ranges from ps in ap macros Hi everyone I've been working in a way for making apply image and color ranges from photoshop in affinity photo and finally I've done a macro with a function like that. Affinity photo doesn't have an option for making selections of CMY, but photoshop in color ranges has these options and rgb and highlights, midtones and shadows which ap has. I've done a macro with similar functions for apply image and three macros for making selections of CMY. How to use 1.Import macros 2.Select your current image in which you are working (obviosly) 3.Apply the macro apply image and it'll pop up a sliders for adjusting settings like midtones (gamma) shadows and highlights. These settings are for showing or hidding parts of the mask. 4.Apply and adjustment layer like curves and drag the generated mask into the curves as a child layer. 5.Now you will see the mask in black and white and you can alt + clic to see the mask. 6.adjust the parameters of curves 7. See magic For the CMY macros you can select your image and apply the macro for see the CMY selections for fine tunning and after selection you can add an adjustment layer like curves and i'll mask automatically the CMY selections. I hope this be useful for you. Selections CMY and apply image.zip
  16. Hi there, I've just downloaded the free trial for Affinity Designer on my Windows 10 Surface Pro 3. I've got the i7 model (4650U integrated graphics) with 8gb ram and I'm experiencing some fairly substantial lag when playing around with a single art board and a handful of photos. It is frequently generically laggy and the program has frozen as 'not responsive' 9 times in 30 mins. It recovers from the not responsive state relatively quickly (maybe 2-5 seconds). To test the demo, in total, I have: - 7 elipse shapes, each masking a photo from Unsplash (all seven total 57mb in file size) - 1 rectangle shape - 2 text fields I'm doing all this in the 'draw' persona, meaning the photos are at full res if you zoom in enough, despite being scaled down significantly to fit onto the screen. Have I got some random setting accidentally on overdrive, or is the testing build simply buggy and therefore not representative of the final product? Any ideas? The surface typically handles large PS files fine. Cheers, Jordan
  17. Just finished watching a video on the help feature in Affinity Photo. The video showed "pinning" the screen on the side so you could work in Affinity and have the help screen available at the same time. In the video they are using a Mac. Can this be accomplished in Windows. I can not seem to achieve this result. Thank you.
  18. When using the node tool to edit the direction of a single node handle using the alt, only the right alt key works but not the left. Other than that, the left alt key does all other modifier operations (ie. drag a copy) correctly. Is that default in the Windows version, or is that an OS level issue?
  19. I know folks are excited about the new Light theme in the Affinity 1.6 release, but I'm wondering what new features we can expect to see in Affinity Photo 1.6? I've seen the very long road maps lists, but is there a definitive list somewhere of which will be included with 1.6? Thanks in advance!
  20. I've been using my surface device to edit photos and I've come to the conclusion that it is nowhere near enough powerful for photo editing. My workflow is mainly using develop persona - changing exposure, white balance, lens correction, tone curves, detail refinement etc. I have a lot of photos still pending, almost 2000 actually I'm thinking of getting a new laptop. But I don't know which would be good enough for affinity photo I was thinking of a laptop with these minimum specs Screen: 17 inch, 1080p RAM: 12GB Processor: i7, 7th generation Hard drive: 1TB 7200rpm OS: Windows 10 The thing I don't know is what graphics card to include so that it can run smoothly without any issues. Should it be NVIDIA 940 or 965 or higher? And what size? 2GB or 4GB? When I'm editing RAW files on my surface, it takes me at least 6 minutes per photo. If I try editing on my 5 year old laptop, it does it in 2 minutes but after 20-25 photos, affinity slows down and crashes So I need something that is significantly better than what my 2 devices above can do Any suggestions? Specifically from anyone who has a workflow similar to mine Thank you
  21. Hi Team, I am having problems using windows affinity designer and windows affinity designer. They don't open when it's used on Windows and then attempted to open on Mac.. Is there a work around for this? I can RDP into my windows machine, but then I get issues with "Windows Aero" - Agh! Headaches!!! HELP!! Thank you. Lee
  22. When exporting from the Export Persona, the Windows Explorer folder chooser does not display its content. Is that a setting?
  23. Windows version when in Batch Job, does not show the Macro Library or allow macros to be accessed. This is an essential part of image processing for me and, I imagine, many others too. I suspect it is available to Mac users, however.
  24. As a veteran Corel Draw user, after 48 hours i immediately found Affinity Desinger truly fascianating. Its fast, smooth and im glad Affinity adopts solutions from Illustrator and Corel too, and im expremely happy that AFD is available for Windows already. I would be ready to change my workflow to continue daily work with Affinity only but there are few things i really miss. Please consider to implement these things: - Swatches part1: To me its awfully slow to choose the right colour of fill/stroke to an object. This is what i truly hate in Illustrator too. In CorelDraw there is a very simple way to do that: Palettes are always visible on the right side of the screen - RGB, CYMK or any palettes you want. Left click to fill, right click to stroke. It makes the procedure lightning fast. - Swatches part2: There is no way to work comfortably with swatches (saying as a Corel user). I would love to see them all the time on the side, and use the colour wheel only if its neccessary. Also i really wanna know what colour im actually using on an object. CorelDraw is amazing in that case. See the attached picture. Working with text: In Corel there is an option to move each letter independently in the letter boksz with the Shape Tool. As far as i know there is no option for that in AFD yet. These may seem small things, but it truly fastens the process while working on a complex graphic, without clicking a bunch of times across the screen. If u could make these options available somehow im sure more and more users would be ready to change to Affinity. Thanks and respect for your brilliant work, Dear Affinity Team!
